The Retaking of Alexandria
I walked back downstairs, leaving the two boys in Sophia's room. I found the woman in the living room again. Her helmet was off as she was readjusting her hair. "Hey, soldier." I greeted.
"Hey, newbie. I recommend taking off your mask cause we can't do it that often and the fresh air feels great." She suggested.
I forced a small laugh. "I'm alright, thank you."
"Take it off." She said a little more forcefully.
"Uh- yea, okay." I agreed. I needed this woman to like me because I needed to find out where Coco was. I slowly took off my mask, she was looking at the map anyways so she didn't see my face. I was sure she wouldn't recognise me anyways. "So uhm... The kids were asking where the baby they came in is. Do you know where she is?"
"Of course." The woman scoffed, before turning to me, and aiming her gun at my face. "We haven't taken on any new soldiers in over six months. Hand over your gun, Ellie Dixon."
"Please. I only want my kids back. I'm begging you. Don't do this." I tried.
"Hand over the damn gun." The woman ordered.
I let out a breath and started to hand over my gun. In the split second she looked down to it, I grabbed the neck of her gun and rammed it so far into her forehead that she blacked out. In her fall though, she hit her head on the coffee table. A lot, and I mean a lot of blood came from her wound and stained the carpet. "Are you dead?" I asked her, kicking her side a little. "Oops."
166.
I heard the door begin to open so I ran to hide behind a wall. "Prentiss!" A solider yelled, running towards her. When he passed me, I tripped him up. I pressed my gun to the back of his neck.
"Don't move, soldier." I hissed. I ripped off his mask, before grabbing a fistful of his hair and forcing it into the ground.
"You won't get away with this." His voice was slightly muffled.
I rolled him over, and punched his disorientated face until he passed out.
I checked a schedule on a clipboard that the man had dropped. His name was Peter Williams. Her name was Jamie Prentiss. They would be on shift until midnight, so I had a while until someone would come check up on them because it was only about nine in the night.
I dragged both bodies into RJ's room. I took off the male soldier's uniform so he was just left in jogging bottoms and a tank top. I then tied him to one of RJ's kiddie chairs with skipping rope. I let the woman lay on the dinosaur carpet. I sat opposite the man in the other kiddie chair, waiting for him to wake up.
Finally, about half eleven, he groaned. He rolled his head back and let out another groan. "Morning, sunshine." I said.
He snapped awake. Facing me and pulling on the ropes. "Let me go!"
"Oh, I'm planning on it." I nodded, flipping the pocketknife I had in my hand. "As soon as you tell me where they took Coco."
"The Espinosa child?" Peter pushed.
I hummed and nodded. "That's the one."
He grinned. "You don't even know if she's alive."
"She better be." I said, anger taking over my tone. I walked and stood in front of him. "Where is she?"
"Why should I tell you?" He spat.
I quickly sliced his cheek with my pocketknife. He hissed and turned away from it. "Because, Peter." I leaned down so we were eye level. "Your life is in my hands. I decide whether you get to live another pathetic day, or if you get a one way ticket to Hell."
"You won't kill me." Peter shook his head. "Because then you'll never find out where she is."
I grabbed a dinosaur plushie and shoved it into his mouth before I stabbed his thigh. He screamed loudly, but it was too muffled by the toy for anyone to be able to hear it. I twisted the knife in his leg before pulling it out. I waited a few seconds before pulling the dinosaur toy from his mouth. "You wanna end up like your partner, Williams? Because I can happily make that happen."
"You're all talk." Peter denied.
I laughed humourlessly before walking around his chair. I put each of my hands on either side of the chair while I leaned down to speak into his ear. "If you don't tell me everything I need to know? I'm going to cut off every single one of your fingers; one by one. Then? I'll cut off all of your toes, your arms and your legs." I reached down to tap his inner thigh with the blade of my pocketknife, so he got the hint when I next spoke. "And anything else I have too." I moved my hand back up to hold onto the back of the chair. "I'll cauterise every single wound over an open flame so you can't even bleed out to enjoy the mercy of death. After that? I'll slice open your torso and let your partner here eat you when she comes back as a walker. She'll eat you alive while you're a screaming: armless, legless, withering, mess... Does that sound like something you'd enjoy, Peter?"
He shook his head. "No, ma'am."
I walked back around the front of him to see that he actually had tears in his eyes. I felt kinda bad at that point, but I needed Coco. And, I'd do anything I had to if it meant saving her. I sat back in my chair, and leaned forward. "Where's the baby?"
"There's a nursery in the Commonwealth. It's about two blocks from the hospital. Tiny Tots Fun. She'll be there with two other children under the age of three." Peter admitted. "Now, please let me go."
I hummed. "This Rick Grimes you have prisoner in an outpost?"
"Please, ma'am. I don't know much about him." Peter shook his head, vigorously.
"Tell me what you do know." I ordered.
"Some lady named uhm... Uh- Judith, Jenny... Jadis? Yea, that's right. Jadis. It was about five, or six years ago when she brought him to us. He was really beaten up. We nursed him back to health and tried to get him to join us when he was better. Apparently though he just went crazy, talking about finding his family... So, he's been locked up ever since. He managed to kill thirty three of our people before we detained him." Peter explained. "Those are just rumours though."
I watched as Prentiss came back to life... By that? I mean her body started to twitch, her eyes were glazed over and a specific type of growl came from her mouth. "Would you look at that." I commented.
"Please! I told you everything that I know!" The man begged.
I nodded. "I believe you." I walked over to Prentiss and stabbed her head before I stood back in front of him. "This is just a precaution." I punched him so hard in the head, that his chair toppled over with his unconscious body. I then left the room and went upstairs to fetch the boys. They were both sound asleep on Sophia's bed. I heard gunfire from outside of the walls. This started both the boys away. "It's me, it's me." I told them, taking off my helmet and throwing it to the ground. I picked up RJ and put him on my left hip, before picking up Hershel and putting him on my right hip. They both wrapped tightly around me.
"Where have you been?" Hershel asked.
"Saving the day." I responded, before starting to leave the room. We went downstairs and I peered outside to see that there were no guards. I debated going out the back exit, but then I heard Magna's voice.
"Kelly!" I heard her scream.
I decided to run towards where I knew our people were. I peered around the corner to see that the guards were all on their knees while some of our people tied them up. There were more people I didn't know in plain coloured clothes, I assumed they were other prisoners. "Ellie!" Carl yelled, allowing everyone to know I was there.
"I got Hershel and RJ!" I announced to everyone. Maggie, Glenn and my father ran towards me. I handed Hershel to Glenn and gave RJ to my dad. I pretty much avoided his hug to run to Rosita and Gabriel. "I know where Coco is."
"Where?" Rosita put her hands on my shoulders.
"She's in a nursery back at the Commonwealth. She's with two other babies apparently." I answered.
"How'd you know this?" Gabriel asked.
"Scared it outta some dude." I responded.
Nabila ran over to us. "Where's Ezra and Aliyah?"
"Who? I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Her and Jerry's children." Rosita reminded me.
"They gotta be inside, come on, we'll find them." I took her hand before we ran into Alexandria. I searched a couple houses before finding them in Ben's room. "Come here, kids. Your mom's looking for you." I picked them up before running out. "Nabila! Nabila, I found them!" I yelled out.
She ran back to me, with a few other people who were looking. "Oh, my babies." She cried as I handed them both over. "Thank god."
"Mommy!" Ezra and Aliyah cried.
"Thank you, Ellie. Thank you." Nabila smiled at me. She struggled to hold both children, but looked like she didn't want it any other way.
I felt arms wrap around me from behind. I turned and saw my father. I hugged him back. "I was so worried. You, Sophia and Carl just vanished with the kids. I didn't know if-" He cut himself off.
"I'm back, dad. I'm not going anywhere. I promise." I responded, reaching up and kissing his cheek. "I'm sorry we left without saying anything, but I needed to get them back. Speaking of." I pulled back. "When are we leaving to get Coco?"
