That's What I Want to See

**3rd person POV**

"Ellie, come down for breakfast!" Sophia called from the kitchen.

"She's always doing things last minute." Carl chuckled.

Rosita nodded. "Always has."

"I mean, does she not want breakfast?" Maggie laughed.

"She does, she just likes making a dramatic entrance." Rick scoffed.

"Ellie, come on, sweetheart!" Carol called. Her husband, Ezekiel, laughing next to her.

"RJ, Coco, please don't throw the dolls at each other." Michonne laughed.

"Yea, and Hershel start eating, would you? You complained all morning about how hungry you are." Maggie grinned at her son.

"But I wanna play with Coco and RJ." Hershel sighed. "But this bacon does look really good."

Ellie was upstairs, making sure her dress looked pretty in the mirror. Ever since Rosita told her that she should wear dresses more often, she's been doing it. Ellie walked down the stairs with a bright smile on her face. "Finally." Rick laughed.

"Happy third birthday, baby." Sophia smiled, picking up her daughter so they could go and join everyone around the table.

"I was making sure I looked pretty." Ellie shrugged.

Everyone laughed, but Ben was first to speak. "Happy third birthday, kid."

"Thanks, uncle Ben." Ellie smiled at him. Although, Ellie was Ben's biological daughter, he was happy to just be an uncle to the girl. That's what him and Sophia wanted. "Want some bacon, grandpa?" The toddler offered her grandfather the bowl which she had to pick up with both her little hands.

"Yes, please, baby." Daryl grinned, taking the bowl before she could drop it in the eggs. He had to take his hand away from his girlfriend's, Connie, to grab the bowl. However, he went straight back to having their fingers interlocked. The two were in love, and there was nothing that could change that.

It had been five years since Ellie Dixon died. She died saving the lives of her family. It was later discovered that if it wasn't for Ellie? And everything that she did that day? Then two hundred innocent people would've died, along with her family. Ellie Dixon died a hero. She may have had a short life, but she had a meaningful one. In eighteen years she was abused in ways that you can't even imagine, but she saved the lives of hundreds of people. She wanted to see Sophia become a mother. She wanted to watch Coco, Hershel and RJ grow up. She wanted to see Ezekiel and Carol get back together. She wanted her father to finally admit to Connie that he liked her. She didn't get to do any of that, but it all happened because of her.

Later that day, Sophia and her little girl Ellie went for a walk in Alexandria. "Howdy, neighbours." Eugene grinned as he and Stephanie passed them with their four year old daughter named Emily. It was the closest name to Ellie, and they knew that Sophia wanted to name her own child after Ellie, so they stayed respectful of that.

"Happy birthday, Ellie." Her best friend wished to her.

"Thanks, Emily." Ellie hugged her tightly. The two girls were as thick as thieves. Best friends destined to cause mischief.

As Sophia and Ellie's walk continued, they passed Negan. "Morning, Ellie Belly. Sophia." He grinned at the girls.

"Good morning, Negan." Ellie replied. Ellie didn't know the stories yet, she would one day though. However, she had inherited her mothers kind, loving and forgiving nature.

They also passed Finn who was sitting on a bench. He was too deep into reading the book Beautiful Creatures to notice the two. He had never moved on from Ellie. Still, five years later, he looked for joy in books instead of people. Finn was still a generally a kind, happy and respectful person... But something changed in him when he saw Daryl walk through the gates of Alexandria was Ellie in his arms, wrapped in a blanket.

Finally, Ellie and Sophia got to where the original Ellie of Alexandria was buried. The two sat next to the flowers that had been planted on top of her grave. She had a headstone too, the first one that had been made thanks to the resources in the Commonwealth.

Ellie Alfonsa Dixon
Eighteen years old

A hero

"Good morning, auntie Ellie." The bright young lady said.

Sophia kissed her daughters head. "She would've loved you, ya know? She once told me that she wanted to meet you, before you were even in mummy's tummy."

Ellie giggled. "Is that why you named me after her?"

Sophia nodded. "She's the reason any of us are actually here right now."

"Because of Terminimus?" Ellie asked.

Sophia laughed. "Terminus, you mean? Well, yes, there's that story. But, there are many others as well. When you're older, I'll tell you more."

"Why isn't she here?" Ellie frowned.

Sophia let out a sad breath. Fighting off tears in her eyes. Still after five years, she found it difficult to recover from the death of her sister. "Because she wanted to save everybody."

Ellie furrowed her eyebrows, getting confused. "But she did that already?"

Sophia wiped a stray tear. "Yes, yes, she did. Thing about Ellie? She never gave up. No matter what. No matter how many people she lost, how upset she was, how badly she wanted to throw in the towel? She always got back up. She always picked up her boomerang again. She always made sure to save the innocents."

"Which is why uncle Chris is here?" Ellie asked.

Sophia smiled. "Which is why a lot of people are here."

"Do you miss her?" Ellie questioned.

Sophia nodded, brushing a strand of hair from her daughter's face. "Everyday." Sophia smiled at the grave stone. "Come on, honey. Let's go to the park." Sophia stood up, taking her daughter's hand as they both walked away. Sophia glanced once more at the flowers and the grave stone, knowing deep down in her heart... That she'd never love anyone like she loved Ellie. A sister's love is one that could never be replaced.

Daryl never could recover from the death of his daughter. He did is best. Everyday he tried to be happy for her, but there was always that nagging thought in the back of his mind. What would Ellie be like today? He wanted his little girl back, but he knew she was at peace. All his baby wanted was to save Rick; she did that and so much more. Every single day he thought about his princess, and every single day he remembered how proud of her he was.

It took Rick a very long time to settle in once he came back from being held hostage. He knew that it would've been better if he hadn't lost his daughter, Ellie. He remembered the first time he saw her. He didn't give her a second glance once he realised that he was reunited with Carl, Lori and Shane. They were his family back then. But, Ellie quickly wormed her way into his heart. Rick would forever love Ellie like a daughter, no matter what happened. He'd miss her like one too.

Ellie's death affected Carol a lot. It was yet another child she had to lose. First Jacob, after that Lizzie and Mika, then Jessie, and then her daughter Ellie. She knew that Ellie died a hero. Daryl had told her that she died happy, but that didn't make the pain any better. She almost slipped back into using the medication she was on after Jessie's death, but Ezekiel managed to pull her out of it. Just barely, but she held on everyday, knowing what Ellie would want for her.

Michonne didn't know Ellie for as long as she wanted to have. She wish that she could've spent all of Ellie's eighteen years with her. Michonne craved more time with the girl that she saw as her very own. She realised that Ellie had died saving her, as well as her husband and the boy she viewed as a son. For the first year? Thinking of Ellie made Michonne shut down and sob. Now? She managed to think of all the joy the young girl brought to their lives.

Maggie had lost a lot. Her husband, and two daughters. She was barely there for her son after Ellie died. One night she just left the Commonwealth. It took a six day search party to bring her back. After losing Glenn, Maggie was a wreck. However, she knew she had Ellie as her rock. That Ellie would be there for her when she came back. But, she never came back. It took a long time for Maggie to be the same without Glenn and Ellie. However, for Hershel? She managed it.

Carl. The last time he ever saw his sister? He yelled at her. Although they had made up just minutes before, that thought never did leave his head. His recovery was a lot slower than everyone else's. They all had someone. Sophia had her daughter, Carol had Ezekiel, Daryl had Connie, Rick had Michonne and vice versa... But, without Ellie? Carl felt alone. His family managed to pull him back, mainly RJ, but Carl would never heal from this wound.

And so, for one final time, they almost made it.
