Quick Stops

After taking all our food and some other supplies back to Alexandria, we headed to the Hilltop. Carl had been patched up by Tara in Alexandria, so all was well with him. We were giving Hilltop guns, a few bombs and we were bringing Maggie a small but pretty picture frame to put her sonogram of the baby in. The gate to Hilltop opened, and Sophia drove us in. When she stopped, I opened the front door and was instantly greeted with Glenn. "Hi." I smiled at he pulled me in for a hug.

"You're all safe?" He asked, keeping an arm around me as we walked in. He hugged Sophia but gave Carl a fist pump which made me and Sophia laugh.

"Yep. All good." Carl nodded.

"We didn't run into anything for the baby yet, but that's our next priority." Sophia stated.

"Thank you, because the baby is due next month." Glenn ran a hand through his hair.

"You excited?" I asked, starting to grab the boxes of stuff from the hidden space under the floorboards.

"Mostly nervous, but yea. I'm excited. I found the right person to do it with." Glenn smiled, he wasn't looking at any of us, we could tell he was thinking about Maggie.

"You remember back on the farm when I told you that I knew you liked Maggie, and you told me that I was wrong." I smirked, handing him a box that was half filled with guns and ammo.

His face lit up at the haul, before he let out a laugh. "So, you kind of owe me the biggest I told you so ever."

I hummed as Sophia spoke. "We're just glad that everything's working out for you guys. With this stuff, and whatever we get on the next run. I don't see us losing this fight."

Just then, Maggie came in with a rather large stomach. "Woah, you've gotten bigger." Carl let out.

"Carl." Sophia slapped his arm.

"Ow." Carl complained rubbing his arm.

"Thanks, Carl." Maggie deadpanned, glaring at him.

"I meant it in a good way. You'll have a healthy baby... But, damn." Carl said, staring at the basketball size lump under her shirt.

"After watching what happened with Lori... I'm a little nervous." Maggie admitted. My eyes flickered to Carl as he briefly looked down to the ground.

"You'll be okay, Maggs." Sophia smiled reassuringly.

Maggie rested her hand on Sophia's shoulder. "Thanks, sweetheart. We're just glad you three are okay. We talk about you all everyday."

"I don't know if that's reassuring or not." I commented. "Have some faith in us, we're way to awesome to die." I scoffed, handing her the photo frame. "We got that for the sonogram."

"Awh, thank you." Maggie smiled, running her fingers along the edges.

"Is Enid here?" Sophia asked.

"She's with Jesus in the house." Maggie nodded.

"I'll see you guys in a bit." Sophia said, before leaving the RV and practically running to the house.

"Well, this was only meant to be a quick stop, but okay." Carl nodded. I just shrugged.

"Why don't you kids stay here tonight? It'll be nice to spend time with you again. It ain't the same you know." Glenn commented.

Me and Carl exchanged glances. "The king is expecting us tonight." I stated.

"They can wait until tomorrow, right? Please?" Maggie dragged out.

"You can't say no to a pregnant lady." Carl said to me.

I rolled my eyes at him. "Alright, we'll stay tonight. We need to refill on gas anyways."

We were sitting around a campfire outside. Enid was resting her head on Sophia's shoulder, Maggie was leaning into Glenn, me and Carl were just chilling. "What's it like being on the road again?" Enid asked.

"We had to kill six people a few days ago." Carl stated.

"What they do?" Maggie questioned.

"It was them or us." I muttered.

"Always is." Sophia sighed, Enid reached over and grabbed her hand.

"You guys going hungry or do you find enough food?" Glenn asked.

"We get by. Some days are worse than others but about a week ago we got a big loot of cans. We left it in Alexandria because they're struggling to get by over there." Carl admitted.

Maggie nodded. "We'll give you food to take with you. To make sure you don't go hungry."

"It's okay. Dad and Daryl made us take food with us already." Carl responded.

"It wasn't a question. You're taking some with you." Glenn stated.

"Thank you." I smiled.

"Our number one priority is stuff for the baby." Sophia pointed out.

Maggie nodded with a smile. "I appreciate that."

"What kind of clothes do you want for it?" I questioned.

"Anything's fine. Make sure you get a variety of sizes. Apparently babies grow very fast." Glenn laughed.

Carl laughed and nodded. "Will do."

We spent the night at the Hilltop, before heading over to the Kingdom. I was carrying a box of guns, Sophia was carrying the ammo, Carl was carrying a box of clothes. Jerry, Ben, Jessie, mum, Ezekiel and Mrs Tanner met us at the gate. "Best friend!" Ben called out as soon as he saw me. I handed my box to Ezekiel before Ben pulled me in for a hug.

"Woah, hey there, pal." I laughed, tapping his shoulders. "Okay... three, two-" Before I could get to one, he pulled back.

"I missed you so much." He told me.

"Yea, yea. It wasn't the same without your constant nagging." I teased him before being pulled into a hug by mum. "Missed you too, mum."

"How's the war effort going?" Carl asked as we walked through the Kingdom, Jerry, Mrs Tanner and the king were the one's carrying the boxes.

"Good, so far. We've lost people... I've lost Shiva." Ezekiel admitted.

"Oh, I'm sorry for your loss, King Ezekiel." I commented.

"Thank you, dumbass Ellie." Ezekiel nodded at me. I smiled at him, it made me sort of happy that he remembered our joke from our first meeting... Which was a few months ago at this point. "Please. Stay the night and dine with us." He requested.

"Ah, we better head back out. This was our last stop. We stayed the night at the Hilltop yesterday." Sophia responded.

"Oh, but I would love to get to know the three of you better." Ezekiel responded. "Please, I insist."

"We need to get baby stuff for Maggie soon, so..." I trailed off.

"One night won't hurt." Ezekiel said.

"They'll stay. Won't you?" Mum glared at the three of us.

"Guess we're staying." Carl nodded.

"You give in too easily." I muttered to him.

"How long were you really going to last against that glare?" Carl retorted.

"Eh, good point." I shrugged.

We were sitting around a dining table. The king on one end, mum on the other, Carl opposite me and Sophia. I felt very awkward as we dug into the pork chop, potatoes, peas and carrots. "This is lovely. Thank you." Sophia said to Ezekiel.

"I'll pass your compliments along to the chef." He nodded at her.

"I double it." I said with my mouthful of pork.

"Ellie, it's not polite to talk with your mouthful." Mum warned.

"Sorry." I muttered.

"So, girls. Tell me about yourselves." Ezekiel smiled.

"Is it because you wanna bone our mum?" I asked.

Ezekiel's eyes widened as he chocked on a carrot. "Ellie!" Mum let out, trying not to laugh.

"Carl said it first! I don't know what it means!" I defended.

"I didn't- no- I..." Carl tried.

"Gross." Sophia shook her head.

"Okay, but I'm not wrong." Carl shrugged, before looking between Ezekiel and mum. "With all due respect, your royal highnesses."

"I'm not the queen." Mum pointed at Carl with her fork.

"What does it mean?  What did I say?" I whispered to Sophia.

"Sex, El. It means sex." Sophia said.

"Oh god." My eyes widened. "I didn't... It's Carl's fault."

"Why is it always my fault?" Carl complained.

"You said it first." I pointed out.

"She has a good point." Sophia said.

"Okay, uhm..." Ezekiel started. "Asking about my friend's children is due to me taking interest in her life... No other reason."

Sophia nodded, swallowing some peas. "You have a crush on her, don't you."

"I- no! I just... We have a special interest in each other. Right, Carol?" Ezekiel looked to her.

"Don't drag me into this mess." Mum shook her head.

I ate more pork. "To be fair, King, she is a badass, so you're not entirely to blame. But, please do not drag us into your relationship."

Ezekiel laughed. "It's not a relationship."

"Sure." Carl agreed, sarcastically.

"It's not." Mum stepped in.

"I thought you didn't want us to drag you into this?" Sophia smirked.

"I..." Mum trailed off.

Silence took over the room as we all just slowly went back to eating. "This is a fun family dinner."
