Fight or Flight
My eyes widened at Adam's confession. "They're... Uhm... They're what?"
"They think if they eat enough human meat, they'll become immune to walkers. It's too late for me, but you can still get outta here. Please, kill me and run." Adam begged.
"I can't kill you-" I started.
"You'll be putting me outta my misery. They're gonna kill me once they can't eat anymore of me anyways. Please, Ellie." Adam begged, tears in his eyes. "I wanna die."
I walked over and sat next to him. "That day... I took you out of the prison. I shouldn't have done that. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."
"I survived the walkers because of you. Learnt to avoid them. I wasn't too cocky. You got me this far... Now, I need you to save me again. I can't take any more of this. Please, Ellie. They'll be back any second." Adam begged me. "Please."
I slowly pulled me gun from my belt and just held it in my hand, staring at the boy. "I should've been nicer to you. You were always good to me, Adam."
"I knew you liked me." Adam smiled, a big, happy smile.
I scoffed out a laugh. "What's not to love?"
"In another life. Me and you." Adam grinned.
"Me and you." I laughed. "Hey, come here." I smiled, leaning forward and placing a lingering kiss on his cheek. While he was distracted, I felt his eyes close, his lips curve into a smile. I aimed my gun at his temple, without him knowing, and pulled the trigger. A sob escaped my lips as I got up and left without looking back at him. I didn't want to see what I'd done, what he begged me to do.
I pocketed my gun and started running to the back exit of the warehouse. "What happened!" I heard Sandy scream before I escaped that room.
I could hear very loud gunfire, as I was running, I turned. I saw men on roofs aiming at me! That was quick, I literally escaped a minute ago. I ran into one of the buildings for cover. I looked and saw that there were tables and tables of just... Stuff. Mostly weapons. I could hear men yelling so I barricaded the door with a chair by lodging it under the handle.
I ran forward. An evil plan struck up in my head. I wanted revenge. I wanted payback for what they did to Adam. I noticed a machine gun and a small rocket. I found a black bandana I tied around my face, covering everything under my eyes. I was about to leave the room when I saw a yellow raincoat. I grabbed it before abandoning the room. I put on the raincoat and hid the rocket in one of the pockets. I blended in with other people who were running with guns.
"We got an escaped girl! Spanish! About 5'2! She's got a grey top on! Light blue jeans! Shoot on sight!" Was said over the loudspeakers. I went with the group of about five, they didn't notice me at the back. While they went right, further into Terminus, I made a break for the wall which was left. Nobody had seen me; I scaled another pipe that was keeping the wall up before jumping down. I hissed at the pain in my leg but ignored it as I ran off.
I ran into the woods; I noticed a lone walker making its way to Terminus. I shot it in the head before my plan was in action. I reached under my coat and pulled out my pocketknife, I cut a slit, all the way down his chest. I took a deep breath before reaching in and smearing the guts all over the yellow coat. I refused to get it on my usual clothes. I put the guts all over the yellow hood which I kept up, all over my arms, back and front. I was covered. I stunk.
I abandoned the walker before going around the woods until I had a good vantage point. I could see the herd of walkers from earlier approaching where there were fences instead of walls of Terminus. They must have been attracted by the gunfire. I smirked, laying down on my front and looking through the scale on the gun. A zoomed in version showed me what looked like an oil tank. An evil idea slipped into my mind before I put the small rocket in the front of the gun. With the walkers banging on the fence, about fifteen feet away, I aimed the gun at the oil tank. I took a deep breath. One chance to get this right. One chance to get justice for Adam. I pulled the trigger.
After the rocket left the gun, I dropped the gun and covered my ears. Not even a second later a massive bang echoed for miles. Debris flew everywhere as the fences were destroyed and fires were started. A lot of the walkers caught on fire, but since it didn't damage their brain, they got back up. The walker herd started walking into Terminus. Making my way down the banking, I walked among them.
Sophia might be there. I didn't like the way Gareth answered.
I walked among the walkers. I saw gunmen on roof, I'd squeeze the trigger whenever I saw one. You'd have to quickly move though because the gun was loud, but if you moved a couple feet to the side... Walkers weren't that good at tracking. I got my revenge, shooting at the gunmen who put Adam in the situation they did. They forced me to kill an innocent kid.
I found some train carts. I heard yelling from inside one. "Let me out!" The man screamed. The cart was labelled B. I pulled the lever and opened the door, a very tall man with long and slightly curly hair came out. He let out some crazy scream before just running through the walkers.
I nodded, furrowing my eyebrows slightly at his antics before I kept walking. "Hey, you! In the yellow coat!" I heard from another train cart, labelled A. There was a gap in which I could see a very tall, muscular ginger man inside. "We're not with them! They trapped us here!" He yelled at me.
I nodded before walking closer to the cart and pulling the lever to let out him and his people. I didn't look at their faces though as I kept walking. I shot more of the gunmen on the roof, not realising that a walker was about to kill me. I felt it grab my shoulder and an involuntary scream left my mouth, but the ginger man punched it off me so it fell to the floor before he stomped on his head.
I still didn't turn to see the rest of his people. I nodded my thanks at him before signalling for him to follow me. "Is trusting this child sized person really the best way to go?" A man with a Texas accent and a mullet questioned.
"She's got more guns than us. Therefore, I trust her." The ginger man responded. "We'll follow you, little one."
I started running, there wasn't so many walkers over this place as most had gone into the main area where I guess more people were. I ran them to where I saw all the weapons, the door had been kicked in from when they were trying to catch me about twenty minutes earlier. I ran to the back of the warehouse, watching the back door as I waited for them to grab their weapons and stuff that was confiscated no doubt.
I still didn't turn to see the rest of their people as I watched the back door. Shooting the occasional walker that came at me, or person with a gun. I didn't have mercy anymore. When the Governor first attacked the prison, I shot to injure because I didn't want to kill the living. Now, I'd been messed with too many times. The Governor came back and killed Hershel and separated me from my people, James betrayed our trust and tried to touch Sophia before he pulled the incident on the bridge, these people at Terminus ate Adam... Literally ate him.
"Now what?" A girl's voice asked. I glanced at her since she'd also come to the front of the group. She looked familiar, but I couldn't quite figure out why. She had short black hair in a ponytail. Where did I see her before?
I pointed to my gun and pointed to one of the men up on the roof, before I shot him. "We can't kill them all we have to go." The ginger man told me. I shook my head, but he nodded. "You saved us, now let me save you. They only had those two train carts of people; you've saved all the innocents. These people will die. There are walkers everywhere. Come on."
I rolled my eyes but started leading them to one of the fences. We ran over there; I heard gunfire from them, but I pretty much had a clear path now. I scaled the fence before jumping back over there. Sophia wasn't in the infirmary, she wasn't in the carts where they were keeping people. She wasn't at Terminus.
I started walking along the path in between the two forests, I knew where my bag was hidden. I took off my jacket and dumped it on the floor. I didn't want that anymore. We passed a small puddle which I squatted down to get the guts off my gloves in. Then, I kept walking, still with the black bandana on my face. I didn't know those people, I didn't care about those people, I saved them, now I needed to find my people.
"Hey, wait up!" I heard the Texas man who spoke earlier call.
I rolled my eyes before I kept walking. "Wait!" A man's voice yelled. I knew that voice. He'd ordered us around all Winter, got us out of the trickiest situations, saved my life on numerous occasions. I froze. "Who are you?" He demanded.
I slowly turned around. At the front I saw the ginger, the Texas man, the girl and... Mama Rick. There were more people behind them, but I couldn't see their faces. Tears filled my eyes as my lip trembled slightly. I reached back and untied the knot of the black bandana before slowly dropping it from my face. I spoke in a shaky and uneven voice. "Hey, Mama Rick."
