Chapter 26

Paul came running in about quarter to 10:00, spitting off an apology. I followed him away from my dad and into the dining room.

"What happened?" I asked.

"Training to fight a newborn army," he said. "I will explain later, but my clothes are up in your room right?"

"Yeah, you can use the shower too. Try to make it quick though," I said.

"Everything alright?" My dad asked as I walked back into the kitchen.

"Yeah, he just had something come up. I told him that he could shower here if he wanted," I said.

My dad only nodded before going back to loading thing into the cars. I felt useless, but my dad was still really cautious about me walking so I couldn't do much.

I anxiously flattened my dress as 1:00 rolled around. Sue, Sam, and Emily we're here already, but I knew that soon enough this place was going to be packed with people. All day, I said hi to people and got tons of hugs and congratulations from everyone that showed up. The entire pack was there the entire time. Somehow, the elders of the pack had approved them being here and not on the rez.

"Congrats," Alice said, practically running up to me and throwing her arms around me.

"Thanks," I said, returning the hug. I noticed all the guys tensing up, and knew that it was because of the Cullen's presence.

"Congratulations, dear," Esme said.

"Thank you," I said. "For everything." Ever since the incident Esme has been a huge help, more because she wanted to than anything else. She's been sending meals to the house, and offering to help out however we needed it.

"Wow, Elizabeth," Carlisle said. "Not only did you manage to walk again, but you managed to graduate early as well. That's quite the accomplishment."

"Thank you, but I wouldn't have been able to do it without a doctor like you," I said.

Paul walked up just then, wrapping his arm around my waist. "Dr. Cullen, I would like to apologise for my behavior towards you in the hospital. Without you, Liz never would've gotten better."

"Apology accepted, but I was just doing my job," he said.

"Oh, and by the way," Paul said. "It was me." The way he stressed was made but Dr. Cullen and I realize what he was talking about.

"I had my suspicions, and thank you for being honest with me," he said. "It was nice seeing you, but we have to go."

"Goodbye. I'm sure I'll be seeing much more of you guys," I said, motioning to my sister loving up on her boyfriend.

Pretty soon, one of my favorite people in the world showed up. Claire. "Lizzie," she said, running up to me.

"What's up, Claire?" I asked, picking her up and setting her in my good hip.

"Congrats," she said, wrapping her arms around my neck.

"Thanks hon," I said.

"Are you gonna be at Aunt Em's?" She asked.

"Yeah, probably," I said. "If I'm not, just have her call me okay."

"Yeah," she said.

"Guess what," I said.

"What," she asked excitedly.

"Quil's over there," I said, setting her down so she could run over to him.

The party seemed to drag on for hours, and I couldn't have been happier for it to be over. The party being over was just the beginning. Dad and I ended up sending the majority of the food home with Emily to feed the guys. Everything had to be torn down and taken back to the house to be sorted through. Luckily for us, Sam put the guys right to work as soon as the party was over, so the clean up work didn't really take that long.

By the time it was all said and done I was in so much pain I wanted to cry. I hadn't been on pain meds for a while, and extensive standing and use of my left leg still hurts like hell.
