Chapter 16
Over the course of the next couple months Bella feel into a really bad depression. She wouldn't eat or talk to Dad and I. She completely ignored Jake and stopped caring about anything other than the Cullen's entirely.
"That's it," Dad said. "You're going to Jacksonville with your mom. You know she's really worried about you."
"Dad, come on," Bella objected. "That's not fair."
"Bella, face it, he isn't coming back," I said.
"Stay out of this," she snapped.
"Bells, go to Jacksonville and make some new friends," Dad said.
"I like my old friends," Bella said.
"You never hang out with them anymore," I mumbled under my breath.
"I'm going shopping tomorrow with Jessica," she snapped at me. "Not that that's any of your business."
"You don't even like shopping," Dad said.
"That's how good of a friend I am," she said before getting in her truck and heading to school.
"Do I have to go to school?" I asked, already getting into my car.
"Yeah, but I'm picking you up early for your doctor's appointment," he said.
That night, while Dad was down at the station, I took dinner up to Bella although I was sure she wouldn't eat it.
"Hey, Bells," I said. "I brought you some dinner."
"I can't eat," she said.
"Bella, I'm going to leave it here anyways in case you change your mind," I said, setting the food on her desk.
It was quiet for a moment before she said something. "He loved me. How could he do this to me?"
"Sometimes when someone loves you, they do what's best for you at the time, even if it hurts," I said, thinking of when Paul first phased.
"He wouldn't do this to me for no reason. He loves me," she cried.
"That's it," I snapped. "You've been moping around here since he left. You haven't seen any of your friends. You act like he's going to come crawling back to you, but news flash Bells, he isn't. You're his singer. He's in love with the smell of your blood, not you. You need to get up off your butt and do something before Dad decides something drastic that you aren't going to like."
"You don't know anything about my relationship with Edward," she said, standing up. "Edward loved me and I love him. He will come back for me. I know he will."
"Bella, was he abusing you?" I asked, my concerns for months coming out without me realising it.
"No, God, no. He loved me Lizzie. I'm sure you don't know what that's like because that Lahote boy is just using you for your body. Hell, you're probably the one being abused," she sneered stepping closer to me.
"Bella, you know nothing about Paul, except what Jake wants you to know. Paul has been nothing but sweet to me. Oh, and Paul and I haven't slept together. I'm still a virgin, unlike you," I said, stepping forward. I don't know what compelled me to say that, but it happened.
"What the Hell is your problem?" She asked. She was standing within arms reach, and I could drop her about five different ways from where we stood.
"Right now, you and your little attitude are my problem," I hissed. That must've hit a nerve because she reached out and grabbed my ponytail. I faintly heard someone knock on the door, and knew Paul was coming over and would let himself in when he heard us.
I twisted my hair out of her hand and threw a punch to her face. It must've hurt because she grunted and scratched my cheek. My cheek stung as I felt blood trickle from the gashes made by her nails.
She fights like a sissy.
I punched her in the face again as I heard someone taking the stairs two at a time. She clutched her now black eye as she slapped my cut up cheek. I was fuming, I grabbed her shirt and threw her onto her bed. She now looked terrified. I stepped up onto her bed, and fell down, using my knees to pin her shoulders down. Her door creaked open, and I didn't even look up at the person. I hit her once. Then twice, landing both punches in the exact same spot.
Before I could land a third punch to her face, which was now covered in tears, someone wrapped there arms around me. The way my skin lit up with electricity, I knew it had to have been Paul.
"Babe, calm down," he said, dragging me into my room. He dropped me on the bed. "You stay here. I'm going to check on Bella and then I'll be back with a first aid kit to clean up your cheek."
I had been alone for a few minutes when my cell phone rang. "Hello," I said, answering the call from my father.
"Why didn't you pick up the house phone?" He asked.
"I was physically fighting with Bella," I said, knowing I'd be grounded, and in a lot of trouble with the pack.
"You were what?" He asked.
"Fighting with Bella," I said. "I'd still be fighting with her if Paul hadn't walked in and pulled me off her."
"I was going to tell you that I was headed out of town for a few hours to do an investigation and to eat without me, but I'll be home in five minutes," he said.
"Dad, go to work. We'll be fine. Go deal with that and deal with us when you get home," I said, and Paul walked in. He held his hand out for the phone.
"No, I'm coming home," he said.
"Dad, go to work," I said. "Paul's here, and he wants to talk to you."
"Put him on," my dad said. "But you will be in lots on trouble when I get home."
"Yes, sir," I mumbled handing the phone to Paul. I ignored the conversation as I sat on my bed, regretting even laying a hand on Bella.
Paul sat down across from me and handed my phone back to me. "What happened?"
"She said you were using me for my body and that you didn't love me," I said, looking up to meet his eyes as he pulled an antiseptic wipe from the first aid kit. He started to wipe the dried blood off my face and clean the cuts out causing me to wince.
"You know that's not true," he said. "I love you so much baby girl."
"I know, and I love you too. It's just the thought of you using me in the way she said just boiled my blood," I said.
"Alright, but what'd you say to her in order for her to feel the need to fight you?"
"I told her that Edward wasn't coming back, and that he'd only been in love with the scent of her blood and not with her," I said. He wiped off another of the cuts as I cringed, hissing slightly at the contact.
"I'm sorry," he mumbled as I hissed about the stinging of cleaning the cuts on my cheek.
I ended up not getting grounded since I was just defending myself, and technically I wouldn't have broken any laws. Dad couldn't really punish Bella because she didn't do anything anyways.
Sam on the other hand was livid when Paul told him what happened. I received a very stern lecture about how people already believe he runs a gang, and with Bella and I physically fighting, the rumors would get a lot worse. I felt terrible, and he realized that when I started apologizing profusely while on the verge of tears.
