Chapter 23: Sickness
"Eliza?" Asked Ginny as she walked towards me at the Gryffindor table at seven the next morning. "How long have you been up? You weren't in the dormitory when I got back last night-" she said sitting down next to me. I shot up.
"What?" I said opening my eyes once more as I hadn't slept a bit the night before as I had lots of work to be done.
"Were You just asleep?" Asked Ginny as I took a sip of my mug of coffee.
"Oh- yeah... Must of dozed off-" I said looking to her trying to look awake.
"Okay..." Said Ginny suspiciously.
"So, why aren't you meeting Dean?" I asked Ginny as I drank most of my coffee in one sip.
"Oh, we broke up last night-" said Ginny calmly.
"Oh, sorry Gin-" I said patting her shoulder.
"I'm not- I can't believe I ever dated him-" said Ginny confidently.
"Okay-" I said.
-------------------------------------------------------
A few days later as the Gryffindor versus Ravenclaw match was coming up I had had a headache all day and my left wrist had been burning and shaking all day. I was using occlumency as my only line of defense against the memory that was trying to enter my mind. Even though it was all I wanted to do, I couldn't go to bed because the memory would be my dream. I was tired and sitting under a blanket with my back up against the wall next to the window reading a textbook and working on homework with a warm cup of tea beside me that I had barely began to sip. I hadn't been able to eat or drink all day. From outside of the window I saw that the sky was turning gray and I heard the common room becoming quiet as people went down to dinner.
After about twenty more minutes of writing I decided to go to Madame Pomfrey to ask for some potion for a dreamless sleep. As I stood up I stumbled slightly and leaned against Ginny's bed frame for support as the room around me spun slightly. I finally regained my balance and put a flannel on over my t-shirt then walked through the the deserted common room and towards The hospital wing. But as I arrived closer to it I made out a figure coming and staggering in the opposite direction of me.
I ran towards the hobbling person who, as I drew nearer I saw was covered I blood.
"Draco?" I said as I quickly walked towards Draco.
"Leave me alone-" he said as he tried to move away from me which resulted in him almost falling over. Even though I hated the boy he looked so hurt so I supported his one arm.
"Draco, come on," I said as we slowly walked towards Madame Pomfrey. "What happens to you?" I asked as we got closer.
"Ask your brother-" said Draco bitterly and with a wince of pain.
"Harry did this?" I asked as we got through the door into the hospital wing. Draco passed out. I dragged him over to a bed and laid him on right as Madame Pomfrey bustled over to the passed out Draco.
"What happened to him?" She asked me.
"I don't know-" I said.
"Go, go-" she said and I quickly ran from the room and then back towards my dormitory thinking about what Draco had said. Was it the that Harry had done that? Had he finally lost his temper and done something so horrible? Once I got back into my dormitory I walked back over towards the window and ripped off the flannel that now had a few bloodstains on it. I sat it back in my trunk then put on a blue and green tank top and a pair of pink shorts with my hair in two braids. It was a normal pajama outfit.
"Callesco," I whispered as I pointed my wand at my now freezing cup of tea. My wand heated the tea quickly and I took a small sip and felt sick again. The blanket was over my knees again and I stared out of the indie endlessly until I drifted off.
"Ellie, darling- I've done it-" said Tom Riddle as he chased me across the Hogwarts grounds.
"What have you done?" I said walking quickly away from him.
"Well if you would listen to my calls you would know what I have been working on but you are disobedient," he said growing angry.
"I don't care what you do I don't like what you do," I said turning to face him once again.
"I would change your attitude-" said Tom angrily.
"And I will not-" I said then I quickly ran across the lawn as far away from Tom as I could.
I woke up laying on the stone ground of my dormitory near the window with a knocked over mug of tea next to me. I was slightly wet with cold sweat and As I sat up I saw my leg was slightly bruised.
I rubbed my eyes tiredly and slowly stood up. My wand was on the floor next to me and I picked it up.
"Terego," I whispered and the tea disappeared from the puddle it had formed on the ground.
I pulled on my hoodie and walked out of my dormitory then into the common room that had a fire still going. Three people still say in it working on various things. A few looked at me suspiciously as I climbed out of the portrait hole.
"You do realize it's past midnight-" said one of the boys.
"Yes... I- I have a meeting-" I said before quickly scurrying out of the portrait hole.
I walked a while down the dark hallway before daring to turn on my wand light.
"Lumos," I said and my wand tip ignited. I walked towards the Hufflepuff basements and then arrived in front of the portrait of the bowl of fruit. I took a deep breath before tickling the green pear in the portrait. It laughed and squirmed before transforming into a green doorknob. I twisted the doorknob and it revealed the great Hogwarts kitchen. About twenty housewives were still inside working merrily. I entered hesitantly.
"Hello..." I said waving slightly. All the levels stopped working and stared at me. "I'm sorry to disturb you all-" I said. I heard a crack and a tiny housed apparated to in front of me.
"Dobby!" I said excitedly.
"Elizabeth Potter... What are you doing int the kitchens at this time?" Asked Dobby slowly.
"Oh, of course- do you think I could get some tea?" I asked Dobby.
"Anything for you Elizabeth Potter anything," said Dobby happily and he bustled around the kitchen and minutes later brought me a red mug of Chamomile tea.
"Thank you so much Dobby," I said taking the mug from the happy Dobby. To make him happy I took a sip and burned my younger but tried to play it off. "Oh, it's so good! Thank you so much! Anyway, I hope I'll see you soon! I'd better get back to my dormitory, I just had a bad dream and couldn't fall back to sleep..." I said and I started back towards the Gryffindor tower.
"Student out of bed-" said Filch. I ran through the portrait hole and quickly into the common room couch. Everyone was now out of the common room except for me. I sat on the big couch and slowly sipped some of the calming tea while watching the fire in front of me.
It wasn't until the clock chimed one in the morning that I went back up to my dormitory and climbed into my four poster bed. It was dark in the room and all my roommates were asleep. Like always we minded to ourselves Ginny and I were friends and the other girls were with eachother. They also knew that we had bad tendencies to get into trouble or be with people in trouble. I laid in bed under my covers from very long time.
"Hey, Ginny... I don't think I'm going to be able to go to class today-" I said after I was awake the next morning.
"Why? Are you not feeling well?" Ginny asked me as she walked toward Amy bed where I was laying.
"Not really..." I said as my left wrist pulsed again.
"Are you going to go to Madame Pomfrey?" She asked me hesitantly.
"If it's not better by later today... Tell Mcgonagal please?" I said. Ginny nodded as she slung her bag over her shoulder. "Oh and can you keep notes for my?" I asked.
"Of course... Are you going to eat breakfast?"
"No, I don't think so... But maybe I'll see you for lunch," I said hopefully.
"Okay, bye Eliza-"
"Bye!"
The rest of the day I laid in bed desperately looking for spells to help with my urge to hit my left arms dark mark scar. I gave up and fell asleep after a few hours feeling worse than ever because I hadn't eaten and had barely had anything to drink in almost three days.
The next morning I woke up in the hospital wing. I sighed and rolled onto my side.
"Oh, good you're awake-" said Madame Pomfrey as she bustled over to me.
"Oh, yes I just woke up-" I said quietly.
"Good- you seem to have not been eating and your friends found you sleep on your bed after not showing up to any classes yesterday," she explained.
"I think you should be good to go after you eat a little breakfast the. You'll have to take a few potions to get you back and healthy but other than that you seem healthy," she said handing me a try that had some toast on it and a potion that was a very bad shade of brown and most likely many potions mixed together. I ate a slice of toast and drank the potion which tasted like bitter herbs. I then went to my classes of the day.
On Saturday I didn't go to the Quidditch game that Harry couldn't go to as he had deter ion with Snape for the fight with Malfoy which Ginny had explained to me. I listened to it and sneakily walked to the gate of Hogwarts near Hogsmeade. I looked at the magic town for a while and as a bunch of boarded up shops and walked back up to the castle. When I got back to the castle I came into the portrait hole behind Harry and I saw him and Ginny kiss. I smiled happily at the thought.
