14- Destined by Fate [Vhope/Angst/Strangers to lover]
His breath was pacing back and forth. The new clothes were damp and smudged with dirt. Taehyung took a shortcut, running through the forest- running away as an omega bride. It was a forced marriage. Taehyung was never supposed to get married so early.
He had a boyfriend. He couldn't hurt his boyfriend, could he?
The only place that got stuck in his head was to go to his boyfriend's house. It was the only place that made him feel safe, the only place that felt like home.
Taehyung arrived, knocking on the door rapidly, wanting to be comforted by the warmth of his boyfriend.
Though, he didn't know the situation would get worse.
The oak door opened, revealing a sweaty man.
"Tae?" His voice croaked. His shirt smelt like cigarettes, the crisp burning aroma of tobacco and nicotine withdrew from his throat. His brown hair was all ruffled up, and his face was wet, the moonlight glistening onto the delicate tears.
Taehyung was about to reenter the house when his boyfriend abruptly halted him.
"You never told me you were getting married." His voice was harsh.
Taehyung stared at him with worried eyes. "I-I'm sorry, I was going to tell you, but the wedding date changed. I had no idea it was today. I tried to reach you in many ways." Taehyung's voice filled with sorrow. He didn't want his boyfriend to get the misinterpretation.
"Liar, you never loved me!"
"No, that's not true." Taehyung whispered. His hands reached to cup his boyfriend's face. "I've always loved you." He said, shaking as he looked into the grey orbs, lost in thoughts and always withering away like dust.
"If you truly loved me, I would've been the first person to know about the marriage if you only came to me at the beginning." His boyfriend pushes away Taehyung's cold hands and turns around. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath.
"I'm sorry, I don't want to see you anymore." He says and shuts the door, never looking back.
Taehyung stood there frozen, his tears silently falling.
It must be a dream. Please let it be a dream.
But it wasn't.
So he stood there and gave up.
ৎ୭
Taehyung was walking down the quiet footpath, his body shivering from the freezing weather. His mind was far from focusing on reality. The only thing he was thinking of was, why did this happen?
Without looking, Taehyung's foot slipped on the road, where cars were going at a pace of lightning speed. Though, in Taehyung's eyes, they were as leisurely as a snail.
He kept walking as if nothing was going to happen as if nothing dangerous was going to happen to him. The bright flashlights shone upon him, signalling a loud beep from the car, abruptly stopping right at Taehyung's feet.
A man comes out of the vehicle. His expression was not angry but worried.
"Are you alright?" He asks.
Taehyung stared at him with deep eyes, scanning him from head to toe.
The man looked extremely handsome. He had hazelnut brown hair, big doe eyes. His skin looked so smooth like buttermilk, and his lips had a gorgeous glow. The man wore a navy blue shirt with white polka dots as a design and blue ripped jeans.
Taehyung looked at the man directly and said, "No, I'm not fine. Would a normal person say that?"
The man tilted his head in confusion and replied, "No, they wouldn't."
Taehyung smiled. "I'm sorry for coming in front of your car."
It's alright." The man says in a reassuring tone. "Hey, you're freezing." His eyes leave concern.
He looks at Taehyung and questions, "Would you like to come with me to the police station? I was on my way to return something."
Taehyung stared at him. The atmosphere around them was chilly and tranquil. It felt like it was just the two in the universe.
It was an awkward moment between them until the man spoke up.
"Sorry, I think I should introduce myself first. My name is Hoseok, but you can call me Hobi." Hoseok holds his hand out and gives a smile. His smile was perhaps the most beautiful thing Taehyung had ever seen. That smile gave him hope and happiness, making Taehyung return a smile too as he grabs hold of Hoseok's hand and shakes it.
"Taehyung, Kim Taehyung."
ৎ୭
The drive was almost speechless and perhaps awkward. Both men tried to talk but nothing came out. After all, they were two strangers. The car came to a halt, stopping at a police station.
Hoseok and Taehyung got out of the car, walking into the station, nearly brushing their shoulders against each other. Taehyung hid a blush. What are you doing? Taehyung's mind uttered, making him shake his head and tousle them out.
There were only a couple of police officers doing their duty. Taehyung sat down on a chair as Hoseok went to return something. He put his hands crossed over his lap, playing with his fingers.
Today he just lost his boyfriend, or more like his boyfriend abandoned him. He sighed and looked up, surprisingly seeing Hoseok holding a cup of coffee.
"I presume you haven't had anything at all." He said with a small smile.
"Yeah, I haven't, thanks." Taehyung grabbed the coffee as both their fingers touch lightly, making Taehyung gulp of the sudden contact. He sipped the hot coffee as Hoseok sat down next to him.
"Why were you alone in the streets?" Hoseok queried.
Taehyung gazed at him, his lips trembling- considering how to respond. It was a heart-aching day for him, knowing all the trouble he had gone through.
"I... I was supposed to get married today," he proceeded. "Though I had a boyfriend. So I ran away. But I found out that I was no longer welcome with him. So I guess, I got lost in my thoughts and found you."
Taehyung ended, glancing down at the floor.
"So you lost your mate?" Hoseok probed.
"Yeah, I lost my mate..."
"I'm guessing you're an omega too?" Hoseok questioned further.
"Yup," Taehyung replied, pronouncing it with a pop. He sipped the coffee, licking the liquid on the corner of his lips, contrasting the immense strong flavour.
Hoseok glanced at him. He admired Taehyung in a way. He indeed was handsome, the black curls of his hair, his skin lightening up and, it looked so smooth that Hoseok wondered how it would feel running his hand down Taehyung's bare chest-
No. Hoseok shook his head. You're helping a random guy out of the blue. Stop being attracted to him.
Though, a bright idea shone in his head. Or a suggestion, perhaps. "Hey," Hoseok spoke.
"Yeah," Taehyung replied in a breathy tone, making Hoseok wild. His voice was so soft that Hoseok wanted him to whisper in his ear. His voice was a melodic tune, so gentle and so carefree. It was something that Hoseok had never interfered with before.
"Do you want to marry me?"
ৎ୭
Taehyung looked at Hoseok, his eyes wide open with his lips parted a little. "I'm sorry, what?"
"Let me marry you. After all, it seems like you have nowhere to go. I'll give you space, and I'll respect you. Plus, I've been looking for a mate for a long time," Hoseok sighed, his hands in his pocket, turning his head aside from Taehyung.
It was a silent moment, Hoseok wondering that Taehyung wouldn't accept him. It was a foolish mistake to ask in the first place.
"Alright, I'll do it." Hoseok glanced at him, his eyes wide in shock. Taehyung continued. "I'll give you a chance."
"Alright then, let's go to my place then?" Hoseok implored.
Both stood up, Taehyung's stomach started to churn. He was going to get married to a stranger.
As they entered the car, Taehyung's eyes shrunk. Perhaps, entering a dream that he would have never encountered.
ৎ୭
Taehyung shifted and groaned on the bed he was lying on. His eyes fluttered as he stretched and yawned. Sitting up, he looked around. It was not a familiar surrounding. He recognised that it wasn't his home at all, but Hoseok's. Taehyung peered at himself as well- he wasn't wearing the ripped and wet clothes but a brown cotton sweater and grey pants. How did he change? He was sure that he fell asleep in the car, unless-
Hoseok. Did Hoseok do that?
A door creaked and Taehyung turned his head at the sound. He looked up to see Hoseok standing there with a white bag. He entered the room and opened the curtains making Taehyung squint due to the brightness.
"Hey," Hoseok mumbled. Taehyung hummed in response. Hoseok brought out two meagre black boxes from the white bag. He opened one of them. Inside was a gold ring, embroidered with silver diamonds, the outer part chiselled and designed like wings flawlessly to fit Taehyung's ring finger.
"It's beautiful," Taehyung whispered, his hands gliding over the material. It looked so gorgeous and smooth that Taehyung felt special for once. "What about yours?" Taehyung asked, also desperate to see Hoseok's one.
The box opened and, inside was another gold ring, similar to Taehyung's one but with ornate dark green diamonds.
"Wow." Taehyung breathed out, his feelings penetrating out of this chest that this man does care about him.
"You know? I want our first kiss to be special on the wedding day," Hoseok spoke as Taehyung raised his eyebrows.
Let the wedding day arise.
ৎ୭
The wedding day arrived. Taehyung was in a beautiful outfit. His heart was thumping for this special day. Taehyung and Hoseok haven't been intimate but, that's going to change today.
A knock was heard at the door, a man named Jimin came in and said, "It's time." With a deep breath, Taehyung followed him out.
The wide oak doors were opened the minute Taehyung stepped his foot onto the magenta carpet. He saw smiles everywhere, the pink petals from roses flying behind him. He glanced up and saw his fiance, soon to be married.
Hoseok looked extremely, handsome in the black suit, his dark red hair capturing the attention of Taehyung. Finally, he stood in front of Hoseok and the vows began. Everyone was in their seats happily waiting for the final moment.
"Jung Hoseok, do you lawfully take Kim Taehyung as your mate?" The priest inquired.
Holding Taehyung's hands, he says, "Yes, I do."
"And do you Kim Taehyung, lawfully take Jung Hoseok as your mate?"
Peering into Hoseok's wondrous eyes, he inched up a smile. "I do."
"And now you may kiss."
The moment they brushed their lips against each other, they knew things were going to be the best. Their lips moulded perfectly, and Taehyung almost fell dizzy. Hoseok's lips were so soft and gentle like a cloud. It felt like Taehyung wouldn't stop.
Pulling away, they both smiled. They were supposed to be together. They were brought by fate. They were destined by fate.
