Chapter 4 - A task to guid the mortals

Elijah's mint blue eyes gazed upon the book's enchanted features. A golden rim was sent around the white thick cover, which lead to the front, crafting a lock with a key hole. It's designs were a lot similar to the small chest from earlier.

"How, how did you know?" Elijah said, astounded by what Uriel had presented to him. He slowly reached his hands out to hold the book, when Uriel pulled it back with the same paste.

"So you want answers don't you?" He said.

"I just, want to learn about our angels that's all." Elijah uttered, taking a seat.

"Is that all?" Uriel questioned deeper.

"Well, not certainly." Elijah revealed.

"Haniel spoke to me about your encounter with Angelo." Uriel said.

"Oh did she?" Elijah said in a disappointed tone.

"Indeed. And I know that you want to find out more about her, due to her strange appearance." Uriel spoke.

"She seemed off. And for some reason, I feel as if I truly need to understand her." Elijah stated.

"Well you do deserve to know more about heaven than what it's library has to offer." Uriel said, making his way towards the moonlighting window.

For a moment, Elijah felt his heart beat flash forward. He was finally going get his hands on the book that contained all of heavens history millenniums ago up till now.

"Here." Uriel smiled.
"Take it." He added.

Elijah flew up to Uriel and stared hard at the book, before it was given to him.

"You, are clearly joking." he said in disbelief, with his sights still stuck upon it's designs while it laid in his hands.

"You and I, both know that angels don't lie." Uriel said with grace.
"You want to stay up late? Make it a habit in order practice to watching over the mortals."

"But how will I know which one?" Elijah questioned, while Uriel made his leave.

"Visit the palace early tomorrow and you will find out." Uriel said finally, before he took off.

With his hands on heaven's history at last, Elijah briefly made his attempt to open the book, but failed because of it's well secured golden padlock.

"What?" He said to himself, turning it over and checking the back.

He ran his palm across the back, then the sides, and then to the front once more, but found no way of it's full access.

"Right." He sighed stressfully, placing down the book flat.

Elijah then gazed around the library in search for some hidden "something," in order to open it, but found not a clue.

A night owl spirit then made it's way across the window from the outside, grasping Elijah's attention. It then reminded him about Uriel's brief exit, which made his teeth grind.

Letting out a sigh, Elijah wrapped his arms around the large book, and took for the night sky. With that, he headed straight towards his home.

He awoke that following morning, and prepared himself to attend the meeting. After putting on his most presentable outfit, Elijah left without a linger.

Meanwhile at the meeting. . . .

Uriel was the fifth archangel to walk through the palace doors. He then flew up the flight of stairs and took a right down the hall. With that, he opened the door and headed in the room filled with archangels at it's table.

The floor was an amazing ash grey color, and it matched the French lamb white color of the walls.
Each wall possessed a tall, wide window, where the view of the city was seen from above.

A twelve feet dark wood modern table set to the center, and each side had three chairs, while a single chair sat at the north end, and the south end.

Of course, the even archangels sat on each chair that surrounded the table. And an angel, stood next to each of them. Uriel lastly took his seat, and was followed by an angel of his.

"Good morning angels." He greeted pleasantly.

"Arch, angels." Raphael corrected.

"I know it's just," Uriel paused.
"Never mind." he said awkwardly.

Same moment, who the archangels could see entering the room, was Elijah.

"Good morning angels." He greeted with a bright smile, and a wave.

Uriel then briefly took his hand, and brought his ear close.

"Don't, don't do that, please." He whispered.

"Don't do what–"

"Have a seat Elijah." Michael said, showing Elijah the empty chair next to Uriel.

"Also I loved how you set me up." He said while taking his seat, only to receive a giggle from the archangel he was sitting next to.

"So, shall we get on to business?" Uriel said.

"Certainly." Gabriel agreed.

"Good. So as you know, this generation has become a tad more hectic than the previous, meaning that unholy actions have increased throughout the mortal world. In that case, father has requested assistance like always, to help guide the young infants down the right path of life." Remiel spoke.

"So the usual task is done, each of us will head down to earth and guide the mortals towards performing good right?" Elijah said timidly.

"Exactly." Haniel winked with assurance.

Her words indeed gave Elijah the feeling of great importance. So fitting in, was defiantly not an issue.

And after minutes of discussing their next move, Elijah was given a task like any other angel. But this time, it was the task of an archangel.

As the rest exited the meeting room and attended to the mortals, Elijah hovered over the clouds, as he watched them leave to earth.

"Are you ready to do this?" Uriel questioned, giving him a bit of a surprise.

"I thought that you believed in me?" Elijah joked.

"I do." Uriel said.
"The question is, do you believe in yourself?" He added, before falling through heaven's clouds and crossing the gateway to earth.

Elijah watched Uriel's angelic exit, and after taking a deep breath, he made his.
