EXT. GRASSY FIELD–DAY

The robot stands silently in the field and VANESSA observes it closely. RANDI walks up to her and silently hands her a black notebook. Randi has a backpack full of notebooks.

VANESSA CONT'D: What's this?

RANDI: The new codex.

VANESSA: Wait, you actually stole it?

RANDI: Yeah.

VANESSA: How did you manage that without any police catching on?

RANDI: Uh...

CUT TO:

EXT. "CURIO SHOP" RUN DOWN STORE–NIGHT

A brick crashes loudly into the window.

RANDI: Hell yeah! Fuck you, Ambrose!

EXT. GRASSY FIELD–DAY

RANDI CONT'D: I was very careful and quiet.

DARCY V.O.: Dudes!

DARCY runs towards Vanessa and Randi. He pauses to catch his breath.

DARCY: Did you see the window at the Curio Shop? Someone broke it!

Vanessa looks at Randi in annoyance. Randi pays no mind.

RANDI CON'T: Oh, hey there buddy. You want a notebook?

DARCY: Uh, sure?

Randi hands Darcy the notebook and Darcy opens it.

DARCY CONT'D: Wait. Is this the notebooks from the Curio Shop?

RANDI: Uh... no?

VANESSA: Randi broke in and stole it.

DARCY: Randi what? (To Randi) You know they might arrest you!

RANDI: I'll be fine. Anyways, the cops won't be able to track me down. There's no one to report the crime. Ambrose is in jail anyways.

VANESSA: You said you were careful.

RANDI: And I said I was quiet.

VANESSA: I bet that was a lie too.

RANDI: Oh well, too late to do anything. I already gave Lucy one and we tried messaging each other on it. Works pretty well but the only downside is there are no notifications.

VANESSA (sighs): Now we really can't return them.

RANDI: That we can't.

DARCY: What were you doing here anyways?

VANESSA: There were some vague notes in Jasper's workshop. I think he's connected to the robot somehow.

DARCY: How about we ask Peter's opinion?

VANESSA: He's here?

RANDI: Yeah, he's sitting right there.

PETER sits at the base of the robot and Vanessa does a double take.

VANESSA CONT'D: When did he get here?

RANDI: He was here when I came.

VANESSA: He was?

DARCY: Yeah, he's been watching us the whole time.

VANESSA: I didn't think he leaves Goat Man's house honestly.

RANDI: He wanders when he wants I think.

DARCY: Maybe you were too busy thinking to notice him.

VANESSA: Um, maybe.

RANDI: You probably didn't notice Belinda reading out loud a three hundred page book.

VANESSA: She's what?

DARCY: I'll go ask what she's doing. You guys ask Peter about Jasper first.

Vanessa and Randi turn to Peter and Peter stares blankly back at them.

PETER CONT'D: Hi.

RANDI: So we found notes from Jasper talking about wanting to impress someone. Said he needed to build a masterpiece of sorts.

PETER: Jasper is crazy. He said he didn't believe in llamas.

RANDI: Uh huh.

PETER: He would stay in his workshop. Rarely comes out for days. When we did see him he rarely said anything nice. He was a meanie.

VANESSA: Do you know anything about Jasper? Like if he did anything special? Made something to help us get home?

PETER: He didn't like the lady. He fight too much. Fighting bad.

RANDI: You know where Jasper could be?

PETER: Jasper is with the llamas.

VANESSA: I feel like that's the most information we got out of him.

RANDI: I don't know if I can trust him. He said Jasper was crazy because he didn't believe in llamas.

PETER: I'm still here.

VANESSA: You think Jasper would help us?

PETER: You think a llama would get along with a goat?

RANDI: Uh... yes?

Peter shakes his head and walks away.

VANESSA: I think you hurt his feelings.

RANDI: What did I do?

Darcy comes back with BELINDA. She's fumbling over her words from reading the book and Darcy is guiding her by the arm.

VANESSA CONT'D: Why are you reading that book out loud and what language is that?

Belinda continues to mumble what seems to be gibberish.

DARCY: She told me earlier that she found a book that can open portals to other dimensions. Thought we could travel to the other islands since the trains aren't working.

VANESSA: Does that mean it could take us home?

RANDI: It sounds fishy.

DARCY: Fishy?

RANDI: Yeah. I think someone is pulling a prank.

JORDANIA approaches the group.

JORDANIA CONT'D: Hey, Ness. What's up?

RANDI: Here. The new codex. Make sure to give one to Min too.

Randi hands Jordania two notebook and she takes them happily.

JORDANIA CONT'D: Oh, sweet.

VANESSA: Jordania, don't tell me you pulled this prank?

Vanessa waves to Belinda and Jordania stares in confusion.

JORDANIA: Huh? What?

DARCY: Belinda thinks the book will open up a portal if she says all three hundred pages straight.

JORDANIA: I may be the queen of pranks but I'm not into that alchemy stuff.

RANDI: You hang around with Min don't you?

JORDANIA: Yeah, but they would never let me— Ah, I think I know where she found the book.

BELINDA (frustrated): Damn it! Your blabbering made me mess up! I need to start from the top!

RANDI: Can I see the book?

Randi, Vanessa, and Darcy all analyze the book for answers. Jordania scans the area and sees MIN nearby with a very amused expression. Jordania walks up to them.

JORDANIA CONT'D: Do you have any idea why Belinda is enduring mental torture?

MIN: I don't Jordania. She seems to be having fun.

Belinda throws the book onto the ground. Jordania looks at them in doubt.

MIN CONT'D (trying not to laugh): See? Lots of fun. Why don't you have a try Jordania?

JORDANIA: You gave her the book didn't you?

MIN: Why would you think that?

JORDANIA: It looks like one of your alchemy books.

MIN: Oh?

JORDANIA: Yeah, reminds me of the longest element name you showed me the other day. Said it's important for making a specific tonic.

MIN: Oh? So it isn't a magic spell to summon portals?

Min is laughing at this point and Jordania grabs the book on the ground. She takes Min by the ear and drags them away. Min is laughing uncontrollably at this point and everyone else is watching.

JORDANIA CONT'D: Min made it up! You were wasting your time!

VANESSA: When did Min become such a prankster?

DARCY: I think Jordania influenced them.

RANDI: I'm willing to bet they were always a trouble maker.

BELINDA: I can't believe they tricked me...

VANESSA: Min had always said they were a scientist, didn't they? The magic thing doesn't sound like a thing they would believe in.

BELINDA: Well... Darn...

VANESSA: It's alright. It's not the end of the world. Nothing wrong with a bit of fun.

BELINDA: Well, we need more mysteries to find out! We can't sit around and wait.

RANDI: You know what would help a lot?

BELINDA: What?

Randi pulls out a notebook and hands it to her. Belinda squeals in excitement and takes it.

VANESSA CONT'D: There's a rule on the inside of the cover of the notebook. Says only one person can write on a specific page at the time.

DARCY: We definitely have a lot of experimenting to do then.

VANESSA: And rewriting.

RANDI (unenthusiastic): Fun.
