Ship in a bottle

Naomi walked to the side of her ship, letting the salty air whip through her hair. She remembered her dreams of this moment ever since she was a child sailing the sea, though, in those dreams, it was just her and the waves. Now that she is older, she knows it gets pretty lonely out on the vast expanse of the ocean.

But then someone changed her life by breaking the bottle that contained her spirit.

Her story starts in the port of a bustling kingdom called Avalor. She was the daughter of a sailor mother who left while she was a toddler leaving her father to take care of her.

As Naomi grew up, her once peaceful dreams of the open ocean became horrid nightmares, where she saw through her mother's eyes as her ship was raided and she was thrown overboard trying to protect her crew. The only thing that was left of her mother was a ship in a bottle. The ship inside was a model of her mother's ship, The Scarlett Phantom.

Naomi was horrified to think her mother died that way because her mother wanted her love of the sea to pass down to her daughter, not the fear of what lies beneath the crashing waves.

She would look out over the sea, hoping that someone would free her heart from the crashing waves of her mind.

Someone did, but it wasn't a dashing prince like most modern fairy tales depict. It was the strong, independent, and beautiful princess of Avalor. Elena was her north star. Everywhere she goes, Elena always leads her home.

Naomi felt the winds change that one fateful evening. When she returned to the docks, she felt eyes on her as she stepped off her ship, which she called The Crimson Shadow, named after her mother's ship. She loved that boat. It was her pride and joy, having built it herself with help from her father.

The bystanders looked at her with weird looks as the crowned princess ran into Naomi's arms. "I missed you, mi flor(my flower)," Naomi whispered into her ear, hoping no one heard her as she nuzzled into the dark cinnamon skin of Elena's neck. Listening to every breath she took, "I missed you too, mi marinera(my sailor (feminine))." The princess replied. The sailor hugged the princess tightly as she was gone for around a year, sending letters to her when she would dock to get supplies and rations. The sailor and the princess were in love. Still, with Elena being the crowned princess, when she becomes queen, she will need an heir to the throne, so they decided to keep their relationship a secret from the kingdom so only a select few know of their relationship. Elena's grandparents and sister, and Naomi's father.
