Chapter 16:

"Glory, wake up."

Glory stirred and mumbled "Five more minutes, Dad."

A voice chuckled and said "I'm not Storm."

She whined "Then ten more minutes, whoever you are."

"Seriously, if she had lived with Skye, she'd wake up on one call," She heard another voice say "No offense, Skye."

"None taken," presumably Skye replied.

"Is there a problem?" A voice she immediately recognised as Darkon, asked.

Funny, she thought, how I can't recognise other's voices so easily, yet I immediately know it's Darkon when he speaks.

She opened one eye to see him standing behind a tree. He could only be seen from her angle. The others were looking around for him as he hid his snickers.

It was then she saw that the person who was trying to wake her up was Callisto.

"Yes," Rai said, rolling his eyes.

He stepped out from behind the tree "No need to fear, Darkon is here!"

This time it was Skye who rolled her eyes. Mist stood up and stared at him right in the eyes bravely, even though he was towering over her "What do you want?"

"I have no intention to hurt you, dear girl," He said and Glory bit back her grin. She was happy to see him, and it would be fun to see him trying to reassure Mist.

Mist snorted "Yeah, like that'll convince me. I'll ask again: What exactly do you want?"

"Someone help me tell young Mist over here that I'm not here to hurt her!" He cried dramatically, causing all of the elders to roll their eyes.

"You? Not here to hurt her or any of us? Ha! Impossible." Blaze snapped.

He huffed and looked at Glory "Glory?"

She blinked before exclaiming "Don't look at me! Look at-" She quickly looked around for someone to victimise.

"-Mom!" She blurted. Skye looked at her with amusement in her eyes "Why me?"

Crap, she thought what do I say?

She rummaged through her brain for some reason.

"Because he's your rival...?" It sounded more like a question than a statement.

Pathetic, Glory, a part of her mind said.

The redhead stood up, a mischievous twinkle in her blood red eyes.

"Everyone," She started "Darkon is very dangerous, he will kill you; shred you to pieces, incinerate you; run for your lives!"

Darkon looked at her with an expression of betrayal. She was sure that Storm and Rai were trying to hide their laughs as Callisto facepalmed.

"I'm just kidding," She waved her hand "He won't hurt you kids, he's more likely to hurt us adults."

Darkon narrowed his eyes at her, and thought Thank you very much.

You're welcome, she replied smugly. Glory rolled her eyes.

"I still don't believe it," Mist crossed her arms against her chest and stepped back "But I'll let you go for now."

"Thank you," He gave her a low bow. Mist rolled her eyes before shifting her gaze to an interesting looking rock a few inches from her feet.

"What brings you here?" Blaze asked.

"Nothing, just wanted to meet a special someone," He shrugged. Cole, Blaze, Sunny and Glory immediately turned their heads to look at Skye.

When she noticed them gazing at her, she asked annoyed "What?" She hadn't been paying attention, since she had been drawing in the dirt with a twig she had found.

"Are you Darkon's special someone?" Sunny asked, her green eyes sparkling.

"NO!" She shouted, and thought That's gross. And he already has a 'special someone'.

Who so? Glory thought.

Ask him, came her mother's reply.

Fine, she thought.

"Awww," Sunny sighed "Well, guess I'll have to find out myself." Glory could imagine this going through the thirteen year old girl's  mind: Operation Darkon's Special Someone.

"Liar," Darkon gave her a grin "You are the special someone I'm here for."

"Well, if you think that, you have a messed up mind, Darkon," Skye raised an eyebrow.

"I knew it," Sunny whispered.

"I know," He replied, still grinning.

"But seriously, why are you here?" Callisto piped up.

"I told you," He looked at the black haired male "And I'm sure you don't need anymore answers."

"Yeah, I get it," Callisto nodded in understanding.

"You don't seem so evil," Blaze said, deep in thought.

"I know," Glory said suddenly, and regretted it immediately, for both her parents gazed at her suspiciously "He's really not."

"You killed my mum," Mist said out of the blue, her voice quiet "Didn't you?"

A flicker of sadness passed over Darkon's face. He pursued his lips tightly.

For the first time in forever, Glory wondered: What is going on in that mind of yours, Mist?

She gave him a strained smile and turned around.

Her voice shook as she said "It's fine. It's really fine."

Skye bit her lip and let out a soft sigh. She got up and walked over to Mist.

She took her hand in her own "Come on Mist."

Mist didn't object. Instead, she held Skye's hand tighter but not enough to hurt as the elder female stroked her fingers with her own thumb. And the two disappeared into the forest.

There was a long torturing silence before Callisto sighed "Sorry. She's been really touchy the past few days."

"It's fine," Darkon bit back a sigh too "I can understand how she's feeling."

"You mean she's been acting strange for the past few days," Blaze corrected "Mist isn't one to cry, or get all emotional. Something's really bothering her."

Rai rubbed the back of his neck "Please don't bring that up. I can't handle seeing her like that."

"What do you mean you can't handle seeing her like that?" Blaze demanded, clenching his fists.

"Blaze," Storm started gently "Mist is like a daughter to all of us. Would you be able to handle seeing your little girl in such a state? Skye was brave enough to go talk to her."

"She's like a little sister to me too!" Blaze shouted, his eyes filling with tears "I want to know what's the matter!"

Glory felt a pang of sadness in her heart. Blaze had never cried, or at least she had never seen him cry.

"Skye and Mist aren't gonna start fighting again, are they?" Sunny said in a mumbling voice.

"They won't," Cole said confidently, placing a hand on her shoulder.

"She's gonna freak out again," Darkon said "I'll just go now."

"Darkon-" Glory started but he had already disappeared with a puff of glittery smoke.

Rai let out an exasperated sigh, running his hand through his dark red hair "Why do these things always happen to us?"

Glory had never related to anything so much.

-----

It was nearly an hour later when Skye and Mist came back, though in a very curious state:

Skye was carrying a sleeping Mist.

When Callisto held out his arms to take the girl from Skye, it seemed that Mist didn't want to let go of Skye. She was clutching her shirt tightly and wouldn't let go, even in her sleep.

He withdrew his arms "Let her sleep like that."

"Fine," Skye muttered, though she didn't look uncomfortable or displeased. In fact, both of them looked at peace.

Hey guys!

Eek, just the epilogue left!

So, how are you all today?

I'm good. In fact, I've entered another fandom: Fairy Tail.

I hate Jellal. I hate his stupid face. I hate his guts. That jerk.

The sad part is that I ship Jerza. And I think it's safe to say that Erza is my favourite character.

*sigh* I get emotionally attached to characters so easily.

Fairy Tail is the second anime that I've watched with interest, the first being FullMetal Alchemist.

The epilogue is also up! Go check it out! I'm sure you'll love it!

Luna, out!
