Chapter 13:
Glory sat down at the edge of the cliff, her legs disappearing in the fog.
She sat there, letting her mind be clear. It wasn't much of a view from there, just fog that ended at who knows where, but that seemed nice to Glory.
Ooh, I do, I do, I do! Her mind started singing.
She tapped her fingers on the ground, humming to the rhythm of Helpless.
Seriously, at the worst possible time!? She thought.
"Glory, what the hell do you think you're doing sitting on the edge of that cliff?"
She nearly lost her balance at the voice and turned around.
Skye was standing there, her arms crossed.
"Uh, nothing?"
She sighed and walked over to her. She knelt down beside her and ruffled her black hair "I'm actually proud of you."
"To be honest, I thought I was gonna get a lecture on safety" She shrugged.
"No no" She interjected "I'm not mad at you."
They stayed silent for a moment before Glory asked "What's your secret?"
Skye looked confused at that question so she continued "I mean, you do such risky things and are still alive, How?"
"It comes to you as you grow up" She explained "till I was 12, I couldn't really defend myself or others, he would keep me safe."
The girl was a bit confused at 'he' but decided not to question it. She noticed something on Skye's wrist that had gone unnoticed before. It was a bracelet. It had white pearls with two pale blue ones and a lilac one in the middle. It was like those ones that little girls would wear.
"What. Is. That?"
"A bracelet?"
"I can see that" she sighed "But aren't such ones for little girls. You're the last person I would expect to wear a bracelet like that."
She looked at it, her voice made it clear that she was missing something or someone "He gave it to me when I was seven."
Skye got up "Well, I should be going. You staying here?"
Glory nodded.
"Are you sure?" She raised an eyebrow "'Cause the last time I remember you went on a walk and had to be rescued."
"It was days ago! I can handle myself now and am not an idiot!"
"I didn't say you were."
"Well, I'll be fine" She waved her hand.
"Okay" she disappeared in the thick forest.
Glory hated being called an idiot or dumb. Sure, she could be dumb sometimes, BUT she can defend herself! It's not like she didn't learn anything from Skye and Callisto!
She heard a rustling sound after a little while.
I should probably get back, it's nearly evening she wondered. She was right. The sky was starting to turn a beautiful blue and cloudless.
She got up and dusted her clothes. She started walking back and heard the rustling sound again.
One part of her wanted to go see it, the other didn't want to. She shrugged before walking to the bush.
She was pulled inside by an arm and yelped.
When she was inside, she looked at the person and nearly screamed.
"Please" Darkon asked sweetly "I promise I won't hurt you."
She pursued her lips and sat down as he removed his hand from her arm.
"Yay!" He clapped his hands together "Now we can talk! Without any disturbance!"
She tilted her head to the side "What do you want to talk about?"
He nervously rubbed the back of his neck "I wanna apologise for the last time we were alone."
Wait, Darkon was apologising to her. She heard that right, didn't she?
What. The. Actual. HELL!?
"Um, what?"
He blinked "I wanna apologise for the last time we were alone."
"I know what you're thinking" "What?"
"'Darkon apologising! The end is near!'" He exclaimed dramatically "Isn't that right?"
She smiled. Maybe he wasn't so bad after all.
"Did you hit your head somewhere?" She asked, earning a gasp from him "Of course I didn't! I'm still me!"
"Are you sure? 'Cause I'm 75 percent sure that you did"
"I didn't!" He cried "I'm not really a cruel and mean guy! I swear!"
She stayed silent for a minute before saying "Okay. What do you want to talk about?"
"I wanna talk about how I'm not the murderous-sadistic-I'll-kill-every-person-I-see-super-villian the others make me out to be."
"How come?"
"Well you see...." He trailed off "You know what? I'll show you."
"Show me what?" Glory asked. She was so damn confused.
"They say that I have the basic elements; fire, water, air and earth, right?"
"Right"
"Well, guess what, I have the whole universe in the palm of my hands!"
"I don't understand" She shook her head, playing with the corner of his long black cloak.
"I have every single power you can think of" He cheered.
"Why don't you just blow me, Mist, Cole and Blaze up? That way, you can kill all of Avantia without anyone interfering."
"Because unlike how those people make me out to be" He sniffed, crossing his arms "I'm really nice. And I would never kill kids that Skye loves. I would never hurt her, physically or emotionally."
Haven't you already done that multiple times? She wondered.
He sighed "You know what? I'll just show you."
He held out his hand. She looked at it and he said in a comforting voice "I won't bite."
She hesitantly placed hers in his. That's when she realised how massive he was for an average male.
There was a flash.
-----
Glory opened her eyes.
They weren't in the forest anymore. Instead they were inside a house, standing on a landing of staircase.
"Where in Avantia are we?" She asked, rubbing her eyes.
"My home." He said and led her upstairs.
He went to a room. Glory followed.
The door was opened. He stood in the doorway, watching something longingly. She stood beside him and looked at what he was looking at.
There was a boy and a girl fighting.
The boy looked 16. He had long black hair with a blue streak and blue eyes. He was wearing a blue Tank top and sweatpants. His feet were bare.
The girl was small, she looked just five years old. She had long flaming red hair tied in a ponytail and blood red eyes. She was wearing a red T-shirt and black shorts. Her feet were bare too.
Suddenly, the boy kicked the girl's arm and she fell backwards with a yelp. Darkon smiled faintly as the boy knelt down beside her with a worried look on his face. He put a hand on her shoulder as she rubbed her arm "Are you okay? I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it."
"I was so worried about hurting her." He whispered, watching them.
"Where are we? Who are they?" Glory asked him.
"That boy is me, that girl.... Skye"
"You mean five year old Skye!?"
He nodded "This was her first combat class."
Glory didn't know what to say. They time travelled.
He snapped his fingers and they were back in the same place they were before.
He rubbed his eyes.
"Are you crying?" She asked. "Yes"
She wanted to help him but the problem was, she didn't know how.
"Anyways" He said "I taught her how to fight. Now we know who the real villian is."
"Who?"
"Skye" He wiped a fake tear "What I taught her, she's using it against me."
"But I'm sure she loves you" She said, trying to cheer him up.
"She does" He sighed "But doesn't like to show it."
Hey!
How are you all?
I'm good.
How was the chapter?
I think the next one will pull on your heartstrings. I think.
Well, now Mist's question has been answered. Darkon taught her how to fight.
I would appreciate if you pointed out any mistakes you found. Just be nice.
I don't know what else to say. So...
Bye!
