XVIII

Time slowed to a stop, thousands of sparkling speckles of water floating mid air as even the weather halted in its tracks. People froze against the side walks, a mass of umbrellas creating a canopy down the street. From the road came not a sound of a single engine, only the bright, blinding lights of headlights still beaming ahead whilst the cars failed to move.

Yoongi swallowed thickly, turning his gaze left right and centre as he realised what Seokjin and Aurora had decided. Grinding his teeth together, Yoongi snapped his attention back over to the raven haired female, gaze frozen on his own. Taking a step forwards, he placed his hands firmly against her shoulders, "You owe me." he growled, voice low and husky, "big time." he spoke, only to be pulled away by Hoseok grabbing a tight hold of the male's t-shirt.

"Now's not the time Yoongi." Hoseok spoke sternly, voice slightly lower then its usual cheerful tone, "We've got some Andromedans to fight." he muttered, cracking his knuckles before turning on his heels, heading down the street.

From beside him, Yoongi caught up to his side, the both of them picking up their pace from a fast walk into a quick jog as they dodged past a sea of people, heading in the direction the hooded male had gone. Hoseok led upfront, ducking under people's umbrellas whilst simultaneously keeping his footing on the rain-washed street. From behind, Yoongi passed under people's umbrellas with ease, a perk of his shorter height.

The pair sped down the busy street, thankful that the main road led on for quite a while so it was unlikely the hooded male took any turns elsewhere. The air was cold against their faces, small speckles of rain feeling like sharp stings against their skin as they sped through the wall of frozen water in front of them.

"He's there!" Hoseok piped up, pointing a finger towards the single moving male in the distance. It was quite easy to spot him in a crowd of unmoving figures, clad in his soaked black hoodie and tightly fitted black jeans as he stood in the centre of the street. The unknown male wasn't running, no, but it seemed as though to Hoseok that the male was also unquestionably not phased by the frozen time. Despite the rain that hung mid air, and the birds that froze in the sky, getting closer Hoseok could see that the hooded male's face remained stern and expressionless.

"Odd." Hoseok breathed under his breath, not loud enough for Yoongi to hear as the raven haired male caught up to his side, black boots splashing up water at his feet and soaking into the clad material of his jeans.

The pair came to a standstill a couple of metres away from the male, the mass crowd protecting their cover as they remained hidden out of sight. Whilst they shrunk themselves behind the frozen crowds of people on the street, their gaze followed the hooded male with curiosity, watching as he stood centre street, kicking the water at his feet in boredom.

Rolling his eyes, Yoongi let out a quiet scoff at the odd scene, all until a motion caught him from the corner of his eye.

Sucking in a sharp breath of air, Yoongi snapped his head in the direction of an apartment veranda, two stories up. "oh crap," Yoongi gulped, heart picking up its pace against his chest as his eyes caught onto something he wished he'd never have to see again.

Grabbing a hold of Hoseok's chin, Yoongi turned Hoseok's head in the direction of the balcony, "They're there!" he whisper shouted, pointing towards the moving figures.

Deep chestnut eyes growing wide, Hoseok couldn't help but feel his mouth go dry at the sight of two clearly identifiable Andromedans, golden eyes piercing through the grey-blue atmosphere of the streets and metallic weapons held dearly in their grasp.

Hoseok gulped, body growing stiff at the sight, "Lets make this quick then." he uttered, noticing that the Andromedans had already caught sight of the hooded male standing centre street.

Yoongi bit down on his lower lip, shaking his hair from his narrowed feline eyes, "You got it."

First to warm up their abilities was Hoseok, chest rising and falling at a steady pace as he regulated his breath. With a look of pure determination, Hoseok channeled his ability throughout his body, surges of energy flooding through his veins like liquid adrenaline as he sent heat sparking against his heated palms. The simplistic marking of a sun against the back of his neck began to glow a bright orange, a slight tingle against Hoseok's skin as he rose his hands out in front of him, a twin pair of flames dancing around his extended fingertips.

From beside him, Yoongi stuck his feet firmly against the cement, the cuffs of his jeans now soaked with water. Drawing in a breath, Yoongi felt his body grow light, limbs feeling almost weightless as he began to shift his gravitational pull. His raven hair began to float, rising ever so slightly to reveal the glowing mark of a crescent shaped moon behind his ear. From around him, the environment began to take on his gravitational shift, the puddle at his feet beginning to ripple before one-by-one droplets of water began to arise from it, glistening as they unintentionally caught onto Yoongi's gravity and floated delicately around his form.

Through narrowed eyes, Yoongi turned his gaze to meet with Hoseok's, "On three."

Hoseok gave a nod, flares now leaping from around his body as he increased his energy output. The Andromedans on the balcony above them were noticeably beginning to load their weapons, licking devilishly at their chapped lips as they readied their aim towards the hooded male's form.

Hoseok gulped, "One..."

Yoongi clenched his hands into tight fists, raising them out in front of him as he prepared himself to charge into the scene, "Two," he rocked back on his foot.

Hoseok let out a breath of air, parting his lips to say the final number.

But he didn't.

Instead, his eyes caught onto something distressing, cutting his words short as he watched the scene on the balcony from below.

Hoseok dropped his hands to his side at the sight of something breathtakingly supernatural, fantasy-like almost.

From around the feet of the Andromedans, black mist began to sweep across the floor. The mist thickened into a fog, rising in smoky swirls through the air as it clouded around the just-as-confused Andromedans, forcing them to almost drop their weapons in horror.

Hoseok's eyes grew wide, "What the-"

Before Hoseok could finish his sentence, he watched from below as the mist began to pull together, swirling and densifying in front of the Andromedans causing the aliens to stumble back. Atop the balcony, the mist compressed into a dark void, so empty and hollow as it swirled and spun.

And then, out from the mist appeared the hooded figure, leaping out with such force and accuracy as he propelled himself towards one of the Andromedans. With a raised leg, the hooded male was quick to land a foot against the alien's chest, letting out a grunt as he kicked the man backwards, another portal swirling together behind him as the Andromedan fell into the dark abyss, dissipating into thin air.

Spinning on his feet, the hooded male closed the portal, hooking a hand around the second alien's neck, placing his other against the male's head. Knowing exactly where this was going, Hoseok looked away, shielding his face in his hands as the hooded male added pressure to his hold on the alien, flipping his hands and cracking the man's neck, letting him drop lifelessly to the cold floor of the balcony.

Removing his hands from his eyes, Hoseok returned his gaze to the scene, lip slightly trembling at the sight, "Oh God."

The hooded male was obviously an elemental... one that had no doubt already received knowledge.

From Hoseok's side, Yoongi stood wide eyed, "Is he an original?" he muttered under his breath, taking a few hesitant steps forwards towards the balcony where the unknown male still stood. His face was shadowed by his hood, not even a hair revealing itself from under his cover.

"HEY YOU!" Yoongi shout, fists still clenched by his side as he began to stomp his way up towards the building.

From above, the hooded male noticeably froze up, backing away with a single step as he locked his gaze with Yoongi's. "No... no, no, no." the hooded male uttered under his breath, watching as Yoongi closed in on the building.

The hooded man let his limbs gather speed, ready to break out into a sprint but to his upmost surprise, his feet wouldn't move. Almost as if they were weighted to the ground he couldn't nudge them forwards even a little.

With an outstretched hand, Yoongi gave a sly smirk, seeing that he'd successfully managed to halt the elemental in his tracks, "Wait right there." Yoongi scoffed, stomping his way towards the front entrance of the building.

With outstretched arms, Yoongi pushed open the glass doors of the apartment building, gaze flickering left and right before he found the stairs. From behind, Hoseok chased after him, gnawing at the inside of his cheek as he too followed Yoongi up the cement stairs, footsteps echoing as they made their way to the second floor. Not wasting a second, Yoongi burst into the surprisingly unlocked apartment, dashing straight out onto the balcony to meet the mysterious elemental.

Face still shadowed, Yoongi couldn't tell what the male was thinking as he stomped his way towards him, landing his feet solidly in front of the hooded man as he jabbed a finger against his chest. "Are you a freaking original!?" he bellowed, earning a sheepish and unhumorous chuckle from Hoseok as the orange haired male was quick to step in, grabbing a hold of Yoongi's hand and lowering it back to the male's side.

Calming himself, Yoongi let out a breath, the marking behind his ear loosing its silvery glow as his hair fell flatly over his eyes. Hoseok couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief at Yoongi's controllable anger.

The hooded male, placed a hand against his hip, obviously displeased with the entire situation, "God no... of course I ain't." he spoke, voice low and soothing as his words rolled off his tongue like rich honey.

Yoongi couldn't help but roll his eyes, gesturing towards the now deceased Andromedan jangled on the balcony floor, "Then explain what that was." he spat, crossing his arms over his body in defence, "You obviously know how to control your element." he finished, the anger in his voice bubbling off into something more stern as he controlled his breathing.

The hooded male shook his head, letting out a low, almost teasing chuckle, "Of course I do... I've known I was an elemental for years now." he stated, taking both Hoseok and Yoongi aback.

Hoseok took a step in front of Yoongi, "But... how?" he piped up, failing to make sense of it all. "We didn't even know there was any such thing!" he said, recalling that in order for an ability to be awoken, Aurora must make contact with them, or in rarer cases, be an original like Seokjin.

Crossing his arms over his chest, the man clicked his tongue against the inside of his cheek, "Oh... I guess your parents originated from earth then." he spoke, voice a little less intimidating as he stood, feet still rooted to the ground.

Letting out a sigh, the hooded male rose a hand, grabbing a hold of the hood of his sweat shirt before slowly pulling it back. As the material fell from his head, it was safe to say both Yoongi and Hoseok were taken aback, eyes wide and unblinking as their thoughts almost slowed to a stop.

The male was unworldly, ethereal under the hazy light of day. In the soft breeze of the wind, the male's deep-set naturally blue hair tousled and tangled against it, bangs falling softly over his thickly lashed eyes. The male's gaze was almost supernatural, eyes as dark and black as a void, but littered with flecks of purple hues. His skin was like honey, smooth and full of rich golden hues, facial features sharp and ordered to perfection. Hoseok and Yoongi couldn't believe their eyes.

This man was certainly not a part of this world.

The blue haired male leant forwards slightly, and it was only then did Hoseok realise that the male was a few centimetres taller then himself, slender form sculpted to perfection, "I was born on earth, but my parents aren't from around here." he shrugged, casually brushing it off as if being from another planet was a normal occurrence. "I'm an intergalactic mixed-raced child." he began to explain, leaning back on his heel, "One of my parents is from earth, the other from another galaxy." he spoke, gaze not wavering from Hoseok and Yoongi before he continued, "Everyone in the universe knows about the elements, it's basic knowledge. My parents explained it to me a few years ago." he boasted, confirming that earth was actually not as advanced as originally thought out to be.

Bringing a hand to his head, Yoongi scrunched his raven hair in his hand, "Everything is getting so messed up..." he muttered, eyes cast to his shoes as he struggled to come to terms with the fact that the universe was so full of life, prospering outside of their confinements of the milky way. If this male's parents had managed to meet from different galaxies, there was no telling how advanced these races were.

Parting his lips to speak, Yoongi's words got cut short by the sight of black mist sweeping up from underneath the balcony. Eyes growing wide he watched as the mist gathered at the man's feet, warping into a black void.

The blue haired male gave a small wave with a devilish smirk, "Anyways, nice talk but..." he swept his hood back over his face, shadowing his features once again, "I'm off!"

"Wait!" Hoseok shout, raising a hand, "Where do you think you're going!?... If you know about the elements, you know for a god damn fact that the universe is dying!"

"Let it."

Hoseok's arm fell flat, "Wait, what-"

"I said let it." The blue haired male spoke, waving him off, "The universe never did me any favours, so why should I give a damn?" he replied, feet slowly sinking into the portal at his feet.

"Wait!" Yoongi exclaimed, lurching forwards as he tried to reach for the male.

But the blue haired man only snickered, allowing for himself too fall into the black void, disappearing as the mist vanished and the scene returned to normal.

Yoongi gulped, taking a step back,

"What did we just witness?"

{Author Note}

This is gonna be a long ass book. But trust me... things are about to get epic. I expect this book to be about 100 chapters long, but don't fret! I'm pre-writing a bunch of chapters so there will be an update every 2-3 days from now on.

And as promised, here's the second aesthetic board... Hoseok:
