" Come on Coral, you swim like a turtle!" Rain yelled. " It's not my fault you are faster than me!!!" Coral shouted. Rain was a pretty mermaid with a light blue tail and Carmel hair. Coral was Rain's best friend, she had red hair and a tail like Rain's. They were racing around the reef trying to catch up to one another." When is your father expecting us to be back?" Coral asked Rain. " I don't know, but we should head back." Rain responded. They quickly swam off to Rain's father's palace. It was grand and gold, it was where the king of the water kingdom lived, " wheeeerrrrreeee were you?" The King asked Rain. He was never angry, in fact he really only cared about his daughter and his kingdom, he was always very playful and funny no matter what. " I was swimming around the reef with coral!" Rain replied." That sounds like fun!"
" Ya, I'm going to my room to brush my hair and then I am going to go find Coral."
" Ok just don't be out too late, we are going to the surface tonight!" And with that she left to her room.
         Meanwhile in the Shadow lands,
    Shadow was out in the woods for a walk. She had a lot going on at home right now, her "dad" was recently let go of his job, and he and her "mother" were on the edge of a divorce. She just really needed some time to think to herself. Shadow was always really good at bottling up her feelings inside. She came to a large tree stump and sat down. What she actually came out here to do was cry. She didn't want her family to see her cry, so this was always the place she would come, where no one ever goes. She sat and sobbed for a really long time, for what seemed like hours. Once she gathered herself up, she started to walk back home, it always became dark outside earlier than the other elements because the land was always dark. "WE HAVE TO GET MONEY SOMEHOW!!! IT DOESN'T JUST GROW ON TREES!!!" Her "mom" shouted as Shadow walked into the door."DO YOU THINK IM STUPID!! OF COURSE I KNOW THAT!!" Shadow's dad yelled back. Of course Shadow was used to the yelling now, she quickly made her way to her room in the attic, put on her  loudest headphones and turned her music up to full volume. Shadow was about 12 years old and very closed up, she usually wore mostly black and gray, like everyone in the Shadow lands did, except for a purple butterfly on her jeans. She also had a purple butterfly on her right shoulder, it had been there since the day she was born. It was weird because no one else in shadow land had one except for her best friend Kira, she had it since she was born too.  Shadow eventually fell asleep to her music, unaware of what was to come of tomorrow.
