Episode Musera

Dark gave way to light, sun shining through curtain, Isla and Lyrstra lay laid up together in a tangle mess. Purple eyes opening Lyrstra was greeted with a face and mouthful of Isla's long mane "Pfftttt" she spit out "Really Isla, waking up everyday to such mess!" she pouted, glaring daggers into her bedmate's back. "Still not awake huh?" Expecting no answer, she watched the rise and fall of her chest "Guess not. Seems I've got the morning all to myself."

Making sure to set her power to silence, Musera made it so none of the commotion heard would cause her roommate to wake, staring at the four walls, Lyrstra broke into a nervous sweat-anxiety and panic settling in. Remembering a song sounding of smooth jazz-she began to sing to herself, music playing in her head.

"I know there is an easy way-" her steps felt lighter as she made her way to the the bathroom to shower and brush her teeth  "-but is it my choice anywayyyyyyy?" looking in the mirror, she become unnerved once she found herself staring back 'Perhaps Isla's right. Maybe I shouldn't visit today.'

Vanaad was a neighboring city, not too far from New Arcadia, and much like New Arcadia it was host to its own woodlands. Deciding it best to take up residence in those parts, Isla, Lyrstra, and Yoshino lived in a quaint two story located deep in the woods. A contact from the other side got them set up with running electricity, water, gas, and furniture -Lyrstra took most of the decorating upon herself. Turning the shower nob, Lyrstra decided to bruh her teeth while the water heated up

"Fated not to be tamed..." she belted, tossing her hair  side to side, she proceeded to brush her teeth  "..watch meeeeeee..." she continued after spitting into the sink"I will never lean upon you-" stepping into the shower, she allowed the  run down her purple tresses, in this moment she could fell all her worries and insecurities wash away, hot water a luxury they could afford a steam formed around her "-I can go by myself." she finished, checking on Isla, she couldn't feel a single wave of vibration coming from anyone but her 'Even If I don't want to.'

Drying off, she walked back into the bedroom, making her way into their closet it was time to accessorize. Sliding the dresses down the rack, her face was aglow once she found the right one "Yes! This is it!" It was a black dress with a tight sash around the waist, pastel flowers plastered all over, pairing it with a pair of black diamond studded heels-she was good to go "Geez. I get on Isla so much...I've turned this closet to a mess."

A sheepish grin snuck its way onto her face. Not wanting to risk being heard, she decided to put her shoes on downstairs, slithering past Isla, she was gentle as possible closing the door. "Sorry Isla, Take Care." she closed her eyes before tip-toeing downstairs. Isla's nose wriggled, and the sun beaming bright in her face caused her to roll over to the other side of bed, however despite her body's objections, her mind remained in the realm of the unconscious.

Yoshino was downstairs having cooked and eaten breakfast; an early riser, he often took it upon himself to get everything ready while enjoying the peace and tranquility of  morning "Right on schedule." his ears were filled with singing "Nobody taught to me to end-with the happy life of a dream...I'm not waitttinnnnggg...for a fortune telllerrrrrrrrrr..." Knowing she was city-bound, Yoshino prepared her purse and a bag filled with snacks  "Good morning Musera" calling her by her, she couldn't help but smile "Good morning Yoshino, how are doing this morning?" every word seemed to be uttered with a hint of  lyric and tone "Hearing such a voice-how could one be in a sour mood?" Musera cast a glance upstairs.

"She'll come around Muse.." Yoshino handing the  purse, picnic basket and bag over to Musera  "I hope so 'Shino" slipping into her heels after dropping them to the floor, she scanned their table "Busy this morning aren't we?" She asked: forks lined next to spoons, spoons lined next to folded napkins, all placed above gold plated saucers "That's a new one?" she noticed a  book entitled "The Monnew" "What's that about?" she inquired, a hint of a smile graced Yoshino's sharp face "The Nobility of Failure." Musera studied his countenance and face "What can be taken from failure that one can find themselves noble?" she questioned, mood taking a turn.

"Hm" Yoshino chuckled covering his mouth "I figured you'd know better than anyone" she narrowed her eyes "What does that mean?" her tone, turned ice cold "Beauty is not only in the eye of the beholder, but also in the eye of who that beauty is beholden to..." Musera relaxed "Oh, I get it, so-" she paused "Do you find me beautiful, moving a wisp of hair behind her ear she looked down waiting for his answer "Of course, your beauty's more due to happenstance though..so I can only give you little credit." Musera puffed up her cheeks, steam from her ears.

"Why's that!?" she was incredulous "It's your nature." his tone was matter fact, he leaned against the kitchen counter "Your ideas are beautiful, but you only fall into them cause of lack of self control. A swan was made to live its life floating atop a pond, epitomizing grace and beauty at a glance-in a way-you're much the same." Musera smirked, and shook her head "Oh Yoshino-" running over, she peeked him on the cheek then pivoted to making her way out the door "Only you could make complimenting a girl sound so boring. Cover for me will you?" she winked

"Don't I always." he waved goodbye "Yes, yes you do." she waved back before beginning her trek through the woods  "Imagine me-an intellectual-being treated like a child-how" he wiped off where she kissed him in disgust "Still, I suppose nothing's wrong with showing affection to those one loves." dancing and prancing away, he couldn't help but peek out the window worried "Every time she leaves...I pray she comes back.." shooting a look upstairs, he shuddered "I also pray she isn't followed...because we're far away from home....and it's likely we'll never go back..."

Mrs. Bellhiem didn't take frequent bathroom breaks-she was a fifth grade teacher after all- students couldn't be left unsupervised for long; when she did take bathroom breaks, she hated to admit to showing favoritism, but a keen interest had been struck by one student in particular: Leslie Washington didn't stand out in academics, athletics, personality, and while cute as a button, at first glance there seemed to be nothing she stood out in "Left a good job in the citttyyyy.."

Despite being a little girl she possessed a big voice, the gym was empty last period, every other day Leslie'd take a bathroom break too around the same time"...working for the man every night and day.." sounding identical to the original Mrs. Beelheim nearly stumbled, not hearing her Leslie was in a world her own "IIII never lost one minute of sleep, and I was worrin' bout the way that things might've been...big wheel keep on turnin'...brown mary keep on burnin'..."

Mrs. Bellhiem pulled out a q-tip, making it wasn't wax making her tone-deaf "We're rolllinnnggggg..rollinnnnngg yea..rollllinngggg on the rivveerrrrr..."  Pulling out her phone, not wanting to miss any more she made up her mind to record "Cleaned  a lot of plates in Memphis.."feet swinging, she poured heart into her voice "Pumped a lot of tank in New Orleans, but I never saw- the good side of the city...until I hitched a ride on the River Board Queen...." imagining herself on a stage with millions of people cheering her name Leslie poured heart soul into song  "..big wheel keep on turnin'...brown mary keep on burnin.." barely containing her excitement, Mrs. Bellhiem's close lipped smile hurt her face "..and we're rolling..rolling yea..rolling on a river....say we're rolling..rolling yea..rollllinnnngggg on a river..THE RIVVVERRRRRRRRR!" cover mouth knowing she was being too loud, Leslie squeaked in embarrassment.

Feeling she'd spied to her heart's content Mrs.Bellhiem didn't want to intrude on Leslie's moment any more than she had 'I'll have to talk with her about this after class.' making sure to be quiet as possible, she moved slow in her heels and was careful not to make any noise headed down hall "Hello?" Leslie feet stopped swinging "Is anyone there?" only her own echo could be heard answering her, feet touching and squeaking against the gym floor, she played with one of her hair beards "Guess it's time to go back to class..." she sighed, burdened by thoughts of someone judging what they heard.

Birds chirping, robins, bluejays, and songbird flew in circles while Musera's one-woman concert carried on into the forest; stopping to smell the flowers, she knew not pick them, but was always tempted to "Fannccyyy...came to my mind..." skipping onwards, a robin and bluejay perched on each shoulder, soothed by song "Ittt leaadddsss me to somewhere far awwwayyy-" sunshine lighting her path, it was one she'd traveled upon many times before "Distance plllacccceeeee..distance time." a special place in her heart was reserved for that part-something about it spoke to her.

'Still looking for answers and still haven't found a clue' she thought to herself 'How pathetic.' Dejected, deflated, depressed, her mood took a turn for the worse 'Instead of flying free, I feel like I'm crawling in mud, but now matter how much I try I can't pull myself from it-not even a little.' However, whenever she drew close to the lowest of lows and the highest of highs felt out of reach, it's words from one person in particular she always thought of.

"There's a lot of things to do" sun shining brighter, she could tell her destination drew close "Gano...I'll never forgot what you said to me that day...thank you..." as if to comfort her, the robin and bluejay tried to preen, catching wisps of purple strands between beak "So kind" she scratched their heads "I'm ready to gamble! It's time to play the game!!" shouting out to no one in particular "I believe in myself..I know that can." she finished singing, having decided on humming the rest. At that very moment, a taxi pulled up on the side of the road.

"I'm in paradise..." thinking back to that day, that moment, it always gave her a warm feeling she couldn't describe "...I'll keep it forever." hair tied into a pony tail a gust of wind blew it in the same direction, hair blowing in the same direction, she took it as a sign in pointing her in the direction she needed to go.  "Hey Miss Lady!" giving a peck in exchange for a peck, the birds flew back into the forest "Hello Mr. Harrison!" Musera curtsied "My good sir."

Mr. Harrison tilted his cap in return "You're a regular ol' Snow White if I do say so myself! Got me and the birds wrapped around those delicate fingers of yours!" he teased, Musera blushed "Well, I wouldn't say that!" she objected "Don't be shy! Fills my heart watching you walk  through the forest, hearing that pretty voice of yours...a gift from heaven."

"Fills my heart with joy hearing you say that" a warm smile showed on her face  "Glad to bring some joy into this world." opening the door, she set her things in the backseat, it wasn't allowed, but someway somehow she charmed Mr. Harrison into letting her ride shotgun "Imma' get in big trouble  for that one day Miss Lady. " he shook his head "Always reminds me of that daughter of mine...always getting your way."

Doing a victory dance with her hands, Mr. Harrison adjusted his mirror "Let me took a guess-same place as last time?" Musera nodded her head in excitement, Mr. Harrison couldn't help but laugh "Alright! What're we listening to today?" A sly look on her face, she hooked the aux cord to her phone "Trust me, you're going to love this one.." her mouth curved up in a sly smirk.

"Alright! Alright! Listen up  class!! I've got an announcement to make before you're all dismissed!" Mrs. Bellheim clapped her hands together, making sure to catch their attention "Before you guys get out of class, I've got something to announce: The school's going to be hosting a talent show three days from now." class roaring to life, everyone started whispering and talking over one another "Calm down! Calm down!!" knowing once riled up, how hard it could be to reign them back in, she pulled out a whistle "WHRRRRRRRRWWWWWWWW!!" covering their ears, the classroom went silent in an instant. Poor timing, Leslie walked in and immediately winced in pain  "Ah!" she yelped in pain, cover her ears a moment too late.

"Leslie, nice of you to join us-" Mrs. Bellheim smiled "I was just telling them about the talent show a few days from now-I hope you'll be signing up?" A knowing smile on her teacher's face, Leslie was seconds from fainting 'She knows!!" Color drained from her face, and her stomach twisted tighter than her braids "Um...really not sure." hoping to let Mrs. Bellheim down easy, she took her seat in the  back "Oh, that's disappointing to hear" Mrs. Bellheim frowned "One thing before you go, I want to remind you all:when opportunity meets the moment, one thing you should never let stop you is fear-I've got a story tell-" the class let out a collective groan, ignoring them, Mrs. Bellheim walked over to her blackboard and started sketching a treasure chest.

"Long ago in a sea far far away, pirates sailed ocean to ocean in search of the greatest treasure known to man-" seeing her students starting to listen, encouraged he to go "No one knew what this great treasure actually was,  the only ones that knew? Pirates of legend old, knowledge of this great treasure was passed from generation to generation."  checking the time, she saw there was only five minutes left "One family stood above all others-the Family of D;  not only were they well renowned- they had mastered all seven seas-it wasn't a challenge they faced, not a ocean, a siren, or whale one of their members couldn't overcome."

"The Greatest  of these legends? Fire Fist D: a pirate notorious for his iron will, his calm demeanor, and his fist coated with bright flame that could be cold as ice or hot as the sun." On seat's edge, the students leaned in, eager to hear where things were going." Gathering up a crew just as tenacious and tough as he was, every obstacle in their way they overcame,  before making it to the deep  and bluest part of the sea." Checking the clock, Mrs. Bellheim knew she had to hurry up or risk going over.

" After countless battles,  countless islands, and discovering many a treasure and myth unseen, they arrived at their final destination-World's End. Located on what was believed to be the world's edge-a whirlpool was located-that when one approached that was worthy-would  widen so bottom could be reached." A student raised their hand "So were they?" Leslie's best friend Tar'Quez asked, Mrs. Bellheim smiled "Yes, they were."  she answered.

"When they approached, the flame that protected and got them through their journey burst forth from Fire Fist's hands, taking on a life of its own. Coming together in shape and form of a beautiful woman she uttered these words." 'I've watched over you for so long, it's finally nice to meet you-I...am Spirt of The Sea.' her voice reverberated crashing waves, rocking boats, and causing a storm as lighting flashed overhead.

'It's nice to meet you, I've watched over and protected your family for so many years'  the entity spoke, flames licking and tickling their skin, many members of the crew feared being burned 'A century ago lost at sea, I came in 'guise of a fair maiden, however due scared by my dark brown skin, bright orange hair, and blazing eyes-they deemed me a witch and left me to drown.'

Staring in awe, flames meant to burn seemed to have opposite effect, a serene scene took place and a calm settled over them 'Your Forefather Flame Fist-Snow Black- was a man who lived up to his namesake; his beard was his own, but his powers that earned him the moniker "Snow" were bestowed by me.' waves crashed against hull, rocking them back and forth 'Lost at sea, once he spotted me he dove without hesitation, going against the wishes of his crew-even pirates abide by a code-this was considered mutiny." Flame Fist was quiet, having heard this before 'He was branded a traitor, they continued sailing and left us abandoned at sea.'

A sense of sadness came over them all, able to feel what Spirt of The Sea was feeling, orange flames turned blue to match her mood. Infusing him with my power, I rescued us from treacherous waters, and brought him ashore before he came to. 'Never had a mortal man risked his life for another 'fore I met you.' parting him with a kiss, I buried coordinates deep in his mind, for him and whoever of his lineage proved themselves worthy. He was a man of gentle and kind spirit-one I truly loved.' this was felt by Flame Fist and his crew 'Thank You Spirit of The Sea.' he offered his gratitude 'No Flame Fist, I've watched you and your ilk from afar..thank you.'

In silhouette of a form she took when she met Snow Black, her figure broke down into several balls of flame, entering Flame Fist and his crew.  Filled with renewed vigor and strength, without a moment's hesitation they flung themselves into watery depths, pushing against the whirlpool's current. Gathering together where sea gave way to land, Flame Fist walked placing his fist against the treasure chest's lock.

"Hand's covered in blue fame, a bright light flashed blinding everyone, opening their eyes-everyone found themselves back on the ship, 'Look captain!' Flame Fist's first pointed up 'The sky! The sky's blue!!' once grey clouds hovering over were now white, waters stilled and whirlpool disappeared, the raging waters that once occupied that space were no more.

Descending from those clouds was a book basked in an effervescent glow, appearing larger than life, it shrunk to normal size before nesting itself in Flame Fist's hands. 'This book, it holds many secrets and knowledge.' his crew look at him confused 'Captain' his first mate scratched his bandanna covered head 'How do you know?' A voice echoed in their heads answering.

'It's the  journey-not the destination-that acts as a true test in measuring the mettle of men. Here in lies all the wisdom and instruction needed to conquer whatever mysteries are buried beneath the sea.' Flame Fist could feel something resonant and rise deep within him 'Captain, what should we even call this?' another member of his crew asked 'This-' he rose the book up to the heavens 'Will be known as the Tome of Pirates-it will record and absorb all we gather from our travels, and guide our generations and future generations as they continue sailing troubled waters and discovering new land!' This kicked off what many historians refer to as 'The Golden Age of Pirates'-that despite being ruled by lawless vagabonds- was filled with prosperity and peace.

Many myth, legend, and folklore we know our said to originate from this book, and it's said to still be hidden away somewhere to this very day. "In valor there is fire, in fire there is valor to which men's hearts are drawn" is a famous quote rumored to be inspired from one of its pages, and these words are words true sailors of the sea live by to this day.  Bell ringing, Mrs. Bellheim was surprised no one got out their seat. "Mrs. Bellheim-" Leslie rose her hand to ask "Why'd you tell us that story." She snorted

"Bored I suppose, but it's a lesson I take from that story. I believe one's belief in self is more important than anything else, it means sometimes-especially at your age-you must learn to enjoy process and don't worry about results, we all have fire in our fists, we all have knowledge and wisdom hidden in the depth of our hearts, only by having courage to set sail can our journey in which we find it be begun." she could tell her sobering words had put her students in sombre mood "Perhaps that was...a bit too much." she cleared her throat

"Class dismissed." she announced, giving everyone permission to leave, rising up and walking out en masse', she kept her eyes on student in particular 'Sorry girl. Seems I pushed things a bit too far..' Mrs. Bellheim was kicking herself inside 'Subtlety's a lost art, but dammit Alegra...how lost can you be?' Sitting back at her desk, she pinched her nose in frustration, being able to do nothing but exhale.

"What teach said...you think any of it's true?" Tar'Quez-Leslie's best friend- around the way form Leslie's grandmother lived; she attending a school, but wasn't zoned for that district so her parents dropped her off and picked her up-after school that's where'd she wait "That's my fault...I really messed up."

Leslie told him, taking a sudden interest in the ground "What you talkin' about Leslie?" he asked, chin raised and giving a suspicious look "Got me singing in the gym"  she groaned, Tar'Quez came to a stop "That's it!" he exclaimed, sporting a look of disbelief "Leslie I've heard you sing...that's not a bad thing. Plus, don't you love singing anyway-what's the problem?"

Smacking himself, it clicked "No way! Not your stage fright again!! Still-" he stroked his chin "Took me awhile to stop wetting the bed." he was greeted with a smack upside his head "Ow!" he rubbed where Leslie hit "Sorry" her smile was sweet enough to bury a diabetic "Thought I saw a fly." Tar'Quez shook his head "What you need to do is spread your wings and fly." he advised, walking down the steps, they waited near the curb for their rides. "Oh noooooo" he pushed his hands into his cheeks, doing his worst impression of a girl's voice "Someone might hear me and discover my beautiful angelic voice..then I'll melt..oh nooooooooo." he mocked

"Tar'Quez stopped" she stared flailing, breaking down into hysterics she flailed her arms and ended up hitting him again  "Oh Tar'Quez! Sorry!I didn't mean to hit you so  that time!! Ireallydidn'tpleaseforgiveme!" Able to understand her after a year of being friends, he'd become 'Les' speak' fluent "Chill Leslie" he poked her forehead to calm her down, he found it acted as a  reset button when he did that "You're doing it again."

Her body relaxed, arms drooping and dropping to her side "Seriously though-" Tar'Quez's mom pulled up curbside, honking her horn, he knew it was time to go "No one loves music and artsy stuff more than you, even butterflies break out of their cocoons sometimes, Every should know how special of a gift you have-" he placed a hand on her should "All I'm saying." Flicking a hair bead he turned around and got in the backseat of his mother's car.

"Hey Leslie! Those braids are giving girly girl!" Boisterous, buoyant, and full of life, it was never a time Tar'Quez's mom's voice wasn't filled with joy "Thanks Mom! I just got them done this morning!!" she perked up a bit "Hope that sad look on your face wasn't cause of my boy!!" she shouted, Leslie swore she heard Tar'Quez groan "Not this time!" a drop of sweat formed "Don't lie for that boy of mine Leslie!! I can get that handle right here!! Right now!" she gestured  backseat with her thumb, Leslie grinned feeling a hint of mischief rise.

"Now that I think about Tar'Quez told me you don't wash your hands when fixing broth!" that set her off "WHAT!?" rolling up her window, she chuckled knowing Tar'Quez would get an earful before making it clear she was joking around. "Sorry friend, had to get you back!" she stared skipping in a direction that took her the long way home.  'Maybe I can catch her again at 'the usual spot.' she thought to herself 'Hopefully Grandmama won't be too mad if I come to her house late again..'

"Alright Miss Lady here goes yer' stop!" pulling to the side of The Old Theatre, Mr. Harrison got out and opened Musera's door "Well, thank you my kind sir" she took his hand, making sure to do a cute curtsy while stepping out  "Well, isn't she lovely?" they shared a laugh, rushing to the other side, it didn't take him long to collect her bags "Pick you up same time?" he asked, Musera gave a slight nod "Yes, and thank for being so kind...as always..."  Giving him a hug, she waved good-bye "Be careful sir!! Stay away from anyone strange!" she shouted as he was driving off 'Then again-' she watched him depart 'I'm one to talk.'

Walking up to a wood-boarded door, Musera made sure no onlookers  were present to see  what she was about to do "Truth be told" she sighed, placing her things down "this is turning into a real hassle. " Removing a plank of wood,  she hunched down, being flexible enough to still put one leg over another to get inside "Alright, time to set this back" fixing the plank back in place after collecting her things, she used her power to make sure she a peep wasn't heard while she was causing commotion.

The Old Theatre's walls  were decorated with self-portraits and paintings of all the great singers having performed their in the past; this pulled at  Musera's heart strings, and was something she couldn't help break her neck in admiring every time she walked in. 'No greater thrill, no greater exhilaration, nothing enthralls like being able to bare one's soul onstage.' she thought to herself, arriving at a pair of double doors, she entered the auditorium.

"Every time I enter this place...it's so breath taking." Chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, velvet carpet covering the floor, and stain class windows decorated the space. Climbing stairs, she took center stage, making sure to wipe and dust off the microphone, in an eye's blink her imagination took her to a time and place where nothing was the same. Auditorium turned into a ballroom, her, Isla, and Yoshino were attending a fancy party with everyone dressed formal.

"Heart don't fail me now....Courage don't desert me...don't turn back now that we're here.." a song played in her head, Isla walked up to her offering a hand   "...people always say...life is full of choices...no ever mentions fear..." Isla spun her around, sending her twirling her into Yoshino's arms. Musera wore a purple gown, with Isla and Yoshino draped in black tuxes with curtain matching window shirts. Waltzing together, they stayed in step, people clearing way as they put on a show. Rug pulled from under her, she found herself in a void pitch black.

"Or how a road can seem so lonnnngggggg-" she started walking in no direction in particular, in her line of vision a light appeared  "how the world... can seem so vassssstttttttt" wind blowing, she was dressed in combat gear in field of flowers   "courage see me right through...heart I'm trusting you" a group of multi hair colored children pranced about "..on this journneyyy...to the passsstttttttttttt." singing straight from her diaphragm, veins started to show on her neck.

Leslie was huffing and puffing, she leaned against the outside of the building to catch her breath, ears twitching, she picked up on a familiar sound "Somewhere down this road...I know someone's waiting..years of dreams..just can't be wroonnngggg..." lyrics touching Leslie's heart, her eyes opened wide seeing a crowd gather 'round "Arms will open wide..I'll be safe and wanted..finally home where I belllonngggggggg.." Getting up, she rubbed her eyes 'They can hear it to?' Looking back to the building, she got up and sprinted around.

"Well starting here...my life beggginnnsss.." Musera sung, Leslie looked down in disappointment 'Why..Am I even sad? Of course anyone could hear her-she wasn't just singing for me.' realizing she had lost focus, Musera made sure an audience of one was all that remained "Hey! Am I going crazy!!" Leslie heard someone yell "Swore someone was in there singing or something!" they complained, another person chimed in "Nah! Heard it too!! Might be one of those elaborate pranks or something!" noise died down, and people started to leave "Starting now..I'm learning fassstttttt....:" Leslie looked around, deciding to join in.

"Courage see me through...heart I'm trusting you..." she stared "On this journey...to the passssttttttt" Musera finished, seeming to respond 'No way!' Leslie thought to herself swept up in emotion "One step at a time...one hope-then another-" she put all she had into it "Who knows ...where this road may goooooo.." Musera answered "Back to who I was..on to find my future...things my heart still needs to knoowwwwww..." Something stirred within, having only heard this song once before, words escaped from Leslie she didn't even know she knew "Let this be a siggnnnn..let this road be minnneee...let it lead me to my passsstttttt..." Musera's heart was a flutter

Wanting others to her them sing, Musera canceled her powers effect, voice joining in unison, it was if a string shot out tying together and tethering their souls "Courage see me thru...heart I'm trusting you...to bring me home...atttttttt lasssssstttttttt...atttttt lasssstttttttt..oooooooooooo"Leslie and Musera finished,  breaking into falsetto , so caught up in song, she didn't even notice she drew a crowd "Hey yeeeeeaaaaaa...." Leslie went on a run "Hey yeaaaaaaaa..." Musera replied with another "Hey yeaaaaaaaaaa...courage see me thruuuuuuu..." Leslie smiled "Hey yeaaaaaaaaaaa..." Powers canceling, she jumped scared, startled by clapping.

"Thank you." Leslie's heart dropped into her stomach wondering if someone whispered in her ear, nerves and anxiety causing her to sweat, she took off in a sprint to her grandmother's house "Young lady wait!" someone called out, she refused to turn back and respond 'Why? Why!? Why set me up like that!?" Tears fell to pavement as she ran, ran, and ran all the way home. Not wanting to harass someone so young, everyone decided to leave her alone, both amazed and stunned after upon hearing her voice.

"Seems I pushed things a bit too far.." Musera clutched her chest "Sorry to whomever you are..." Tears streaked down, she could taste sadness mixed in with salt "My lack of self-control may have cost me my audience of one..Isla's right" hitting her knees she looked up "Things are drawn to me, and everything ends all my messed up" she cracked, letting out a cackled "Guess that does make me just like him....right, Gano?" she asked, expecting to receive an answer "No, at least you have conviction, my hopes, my dreams, are all too heavy to hold in these hands." Digging nails into palm, milk white was tainted red with blood "Can't hold on to anything...that's what makes life beautiful, but it's also what makes everything so sad."

Priscilla-Leslie's-Grandmother- watched the hands on her old fashioned clock "Now what a minute..that grandchild of mine should've been here by now." Doorbell ringing, she didn't budge an inch from the kitchen table "Of course! Come in!! You know you should've been here girl!" she fussed, already knowing who it was "Sorry Grandma 'Cilla" Leslie came in wheezing and bent over "Girl, now lookie here!! Late, and can't take care of yourself!!"

Priscilla went to get her Grandaugter's inhaler, rushing over to give as many puffs as needed "You okay?" she gave Leslie a gentle back rub "Bet you was down at that Old Theatre again...don't you lie!" tapping her foot expecting an answer, Leslie didn't even try to lie "I was, but you don't have to worry...probably not going back." Priscilla nudged Leslie a bit "Come get you something to eat, lord knows that sone of mine not feeding you enough." she winked, Leslie smile, her Grandma's antics lifting the mood.

"So what happened?"  she put Leslie's plate in the microwave and asked "You been going down there past few weeks to spy on someone who sings-you got caught?" Leslie took a seat and began eating "No, I got caught up, crowd heard me sing." Priscilla went over to Leslie, laying a hand on her head "When we hide our blessings, sometimes life shows us a curse, and in doing so we have a chance to appreciate them."

Leslie looked up "Tell me, how'd they react before you took off and ran, did they cheer or boo?" Leslie spirits picked up "They...cheered. Well there you go, sometimes other people act as a mirror when it comes to what we know about our gifts, then when we look on our own, that vision gets clouded by our own doubt." she placed a hand on her granddaughter's   "I can't wait...til' you see yours." hugging her tight, Leslie was weary and could do nothing but lean in "Thanks Grandma Cilla" Leslie hold on tight for dear life "No problem baby girl."

"

Coast clear, Musera emerged from the building, plank set in place,  Mr. Harrison's taxi was already parked curbside "Thank God" she sighed, giving Mr. Harrison a thumbs up, he got out, opening her door  "Had fun?" Harrison asked before she could even get in "In a way, then again, not sure I should come back." Mr. Harrison raised and eyebrow "Hm, never said anything like that before." he got in, head on a swivel before merging into traffic.

"Well, that person that was spying on me-I think I scared them away." Mr. Harrison chuckled, trying to cover his mouth before laughter escaped"Hard to imagine you hurting a fly! I apologize, do go on" Musera shot a dirty look his way "Anyways, they joined me in singing today, and it drew a bit of a crowd, they sing quite well, but as someone whose experienced anxiety of that sort myself, I should've look out for them." she frowned

"Perhaps"  Mr. Harrison mused aloud "However, if they've shown up as much as they have, that means that beautiful voice of yours has brought them joy. I'm surprised a crowd hasn't gathered before now." It slipped her mind, he didn't know how her powers worked "Erm...yes...so am I."

Closing his eyes, Mr. Harrison called upon old wisdom"To sing with all of one's heart is to find in one's self a sense of joy, and similar to happiness, joy-like many other things life offers us-is meant to be shared...that's when we're at our best." Thinking back to when they sung in unison, Musera recalled Leslie's thoughts and feelings as if they were her own: her anxieties, her doubts, her fears, her joy "Mr. Harrison, I think you're right, maybe I will return." Mr. Harrison smiled, seeing her perk up in his front mirror "Now that's what I like to hear, nothing better than a smile on one's face before heading home.

Leslie's ride homes with her parents were silent, and this was no different: her mother was still organizing events via phone, and her Dad was talking into an earpiece "Guys" she tried getting their attention to no avail "Never mind." she sighed staring out the window 'Maybe Tar'Quez and Grandma are right-people enjoy my singing-so is being heard the worst thing in the world?" However, knowing the opposite was possible, goosebumps popped up on her arm 'Be nice If I could talk to them' looking up, sunlight peaked through the clouds 'Silver lining, sometimes I wonder what if...' her thoughts trailed off, times such as this her mind drifted to a faraway land. There, she was unafraid, unashamed, and always ready to take center stage 'Maybe one day I'll be-'

Once they got home everyone went to their own corner as usual: Leslie to her room, her mom headed straight to the kitchen to fix something to dinner, and her father shut himself away in his home office. So to say Leslie was shocked when her mother called her from upstairs, wasnt an exaggeration "Leslie dear, can down for a minute!" her mother shouted from "What does she want now? " she wondered aloud "Running downstairs, Leslie's mother held up a silver gift bag up soon as she entered the kitchen "Mom what is it? Is that for me?"she walked in, Leslie's mother nodded "It's a surrprissssseeeee-" she handed it over "I know you'll like it!"

"O-kay." Leslie looked at her mother, a bit suspicious "You're not taking those happy pills again are you?" her mother smiled even harder "No dear" hear voice was a divine saccharine "You say so" Leslie eyed with suspicion, feeling around, she started shaking "No way!" she pulled out the bag's contents, revealing a box "Tell me you got me a-you got me a- you got me a NoisePod 3!!" she stammered.

A hint of a smile graced her mother's face "Yes dear, business has been going well, and I know you love to listen to your music. Running up to her, she buried her face in her mother's chest and wrapped her arms around her tight as she could "Sorry I've been so busy lately dear! Things are slowing down after this week, so hopefully we can make up for lost time, and until then I hope you enjoy this" she patted her daughter's back before letting go.

"Promise?" Leslie pulled away to look her into her eyes "Know what I said about promises young lady...but for you...I'll always try." putting a comforting hand on her head, she placed a kiss on her daughter's cheek "Now go wash up and get ready for bed."Leslie sighed in response "Okay. Oh..." she made to speak before changing her mind "Never mind."

Leslie's mother squinted her eyes "Young lady...what's wrong?" Biting the inside of her cheek, she kicked herself for making such a faux pau "Well...there's something I wanted to ask you and Dad.." giving her daughter a knowing look, Leslie's mother couldn't help but look smug "Ah...I know what this is all about-" Waving her arms in a panic, Leslie shook her head "This has NOTHING to do with a boy!"

Eyebrow-raised Leslie's mother's suspicions grew "Never said it was about a boy...but it's good to know that's on your mind to." Steam shooting out her ears, Leslie's chocolate brown skin tinged red "MOM!!"Caught of guard by her giggling, Leslie almost double over in shock "Now young lady, before you have fun with that, go on up and get ready for bed." Leslie looked up, seeing she was being serious now "Yes m'am" she groaned, heading up stairs "Still didn't get to ask what I wanted to ask" she mumbled and grumbled under her breath.

"I'M HOME!" Musera swung open the door with joy and cheer, not amused by Muse, Isla remained stoic, stone-faced, and unfazed "Tell me, are you?" Sitting on their leather couch, wearing nothing but a black shirt with a smiley face and brown shorts "So is that how it's going to be today?" Isla stood up, walking over to Musera, she locked eyes with her face to face.

"Musera if we get discovered, what do you intend to do?" Shifting a change in mood, Yoshino looked up from his kitchen table seat-nose having been buried in a book "Isla-" he warned, noticing plates and utensils staring to float "Calm down."  Kitchen utensils, Yoshino, the couch, Musera, and almost everything in the room excluding Isla started floating out of nowhere "Isla.." Yoshino warned "Calm down." Taking a deep breath, everything dropped back down to where it was.

"Don't know" Musera shoulder shrugged "To be honest, I really don't care, this house makes me feel like a bird in a cage" she took a deep breath "No matter what happens going forward, I don't want to feel that way anymore." she walked past Isla, not sparing a glance "How pathetic" Isla grit her teeth in anger "So selfish and shortsighted-" her hands formed into fists "You're acting just like HIM!" Turning around she was greeted with an icy stare "Musera" Isla made to speak, but even though her lips formed words, none could be heard coming out.

"Musera!" she tried to apologize in vain, turning away, Musera ran upstairs "Muse!" she reached out "Damn that power of hers!! When I really need to talk to her, she makes it so I can't hear anything!" A strong gust pushed against her back, almost knocking her to the floor "Yoshino?" she looked to see him seething as well "Really Isla, in that capacity...you really don't need any help." he remarked, burying his nose back in his book "So what!? I'm the bad guy now! For wanting to keep us safe!"

Shoulders lowed in defeat, she collapsed back on the couch, Yoshino got up unable to read, and decide to focus on fixing dinner instead "So this is how it's going to be huh? World against me? Maybe that's why they call me Gaia." Isla mused aloud, looking upstairs, brows furrowed she worried about Muse "Yeah. I'm approaching things the  wrong way. Definitely got me beat there."

"So why bother!" Leslie groaned, slamming her head on the dinner table, she was finishing up her homework after dinner-it was almost time to turn in "Necessity mother's invention more often than not" Leslie's father mused aloud, looking up from his laptop "Until you place yourself in a situation where you have to be brave, have to be strong, where the only option left is find a way  to seize victory from the jaws of defeat-you never will. ..let me right that down."

Sighing, Leslie looked up, realizing he had a point "Remember this young lady, when greatness happens by accident they're called miracles, when greatness is made to happen on purpose-that's what we call having a gift." he finished making sure to look Leslie in the eye. "Daddy...I'm not sure what that means" Leslie admitted "Me either to be honest, my co-worker was working dialogue for a movie script that's a tie-in to a game we're working on-thought it was a nugget of wisdom." Giving his daughter a sheepish grin, he got back to working on his computer "Thanks Dad."

Leslie grinned wide, rushing over, she placed a kiss on her father's cheek "You don't always say the right thing, but even the weird stuff you say, makes me sure I"ll have sweet dreams!" Giving his daughter a curious look, he watched her take off in a blur "Heading to bed early huh?" he checked the time on his screen "She's gonna be listening to music on those NoisePods all night." he chuckled "That wife of mine..what a gem" taking of his glasses, he looked at his screen and blanked out "Gotta make more time...gotta make more time..."

"A scattered dream like a far off memory, a far off memory like a scattered dream.." Musera stared at the moonlight, before curtains closed it was her favorite activity before bed time "Perhaps they're one and the same.." Isla walked in barefoot, trepidation filled every step "Muse-" Isla attempted to apologize before being muted once again 'Never mind.' she thought to herself, climbing alone into bed "Sorry Isla, I'm just not ready yet." Musera continued looking out the window, sleep not having found its way to her just yet, the night still young.

Long blue hair cascaded down her back, pale skin aglow, it was hard to tell if it was moon light reflecting off those yellow irises or if it was an otherworld quality about them "Enjoying the cool night air?" Raiden Gunsmoke was a well built-man sporting a spiked mullet that slicked back, and hung below his collar, standing at six-two he intimidated many by standing next to them "Would you back up a bit" the woman spoke "You're dimming my light" she sneered.

"My princess-" he mock bowed "I apologize m'lady" atop a under construction hospital yet to be complete a breeze blew by "Shame, on a night like this, I'd imagine the denizens are at peace" the woman look at lights scattered about "It's quite tranquil-the atmosphere here- how quaint." she observed "Yes, I agree. You...still have to go through with this y'know." Sneering once again with bared teeth, this time a pair of fangs could be seen "Not trying to rush you. Whenever you're ready."

Raiden threw his hands up in defeat, walking til' she reached the buildings edge, she threw her head back, emitting noise at a frequency only children and a select few animals could hear. A yellowish aura surrounded her and energy from below could be seen  pouring in from different directions "'Bout that time huh? So now it all begins, harvesting all that energy, then passing it along."

He observed "Not sure who's a bigger victim in all this-you-or the kids." Standing next to her, she was too focused on the task hand to push him away, though his peripheral caught her shrunken pupil staring him straight through. "What's that they say? Curiosity killed the cat? Then again, don't cats have nine lives?"

"Sing the song of heaven and earth..sleep now so all can dream..."Sing the song of heaven and earth let all your worries and hurts begone.." her voice was heard in soprano, dialing numbers into his phone, Radien stared giving instructions out to his men "Yes, activate all automated vehicles for pick up-we're starting now." Zapping life energy, Raiden noticed her skin change from milky white to a dark blue "Ah, so that's your true form..." Skin turnt to scale as she continued to sing, all around the city chaos ensued...

In his dreams, Tar'quez hit a game winning shot and was celebrating with his team, unfortunate for him he was living a nightmare; having slept downstairs, he snuck out the unlocked door to his apartment, waiting in from of him was a sleek red car with no driver nor tag number to speak of, doors opened and in a zombie-like trance his will was not his own when he climbed in, speeding off towards the under construction hospital the script was the same for many of his friends and classmates-save for one.

"So they've gathered" the woman atop rooftop stopped her singing "Poisoine', is it finished" Raiden walked up to her and asked "Yes" a sad expression adorned her face, one that made Raiden feel a twinge of guilt himself "Come, we have to finish down there and take our leave" she allowed him to take her hand, guiding her steps "How...do you feel?" heart racing and pulsating, though her power was attained through ill-gotten means, she still couldn't help but feel a rush "It feels..." she hissed baring fangs "It feels good..."

Cars parked in a garage, Poisone' and Raiden arrived to a group of children sorted in a single- file line "Youth is not wasted on the young, instead it's oft stolen by the old, in fear of their own mortality mere mortals have always chosen to do things this way.." Taking a look at their innocent faces, she could tell many of them were drained and hunched over "My singing has a lotus effect on its victims, they enter a world their heart desires most-the sweetest of dreams-all the while their life loses luster and their mortality is stolen away." Voice trembling, Raiden glanced aside, unnerved when she talked this way.

"For people, this is the price I pay, when man finds a secret-whether it be a lost city or nation hidden below water-he always exploits it" Eyes closed, yellow aura surrounded her and her victims " Singing in soprano this time, Raiden felt an overwhelming sadness wash over him when she sang "Sing the song..Sing the song...Don't ever be scared to sing..." one by one they all laid down as if taking a nap "Sing the song...sing the song...that will one day set your soul freeeeeee...." Done singing, she bowed her head before making her way to one of the cars.

"Raiden, shall we be off?" Poised regained Poisoine's tone turned harsh "Yes, I suppose I am" Climbing into a Red Corvette they sped off, making sure to be careful to bring no further harm to the kids, a safe distance away an anonymous tip alerted the ambulance. What started a quiet night was soon thrown into a frenzy, sirens blaring loud though the night air.

Sensing a disturbance, Musera  jolted awake"No!!" kicking and screaming, this threw Isla into a  panic as well "Muse!! Muse!" Isla stopped Musera from thrashing about, making sure to hold her still "What's wrong!? Whatever it is, you've got to calm down!" she gave her a gentle shake to she'd come back to her senses "Isla!! I'm hearing! No!" grabbing covers, she held them close to her tight as she could "I've got to block out that sound, but I also need to trace the source!"

Isla climbed back into bed and started massaging Musera's shoulders attempting to comfort her "Muse please" she cooed and coaxed "Tell me what's wrong?" Despite not getting along as of late, Musera could tell she was coming from a place of concern "It feels..it feels...it feels like something was trying to zap me of my energy...then..I guess maybe my power kicked in and cut whatever it was off." rubbed her temple, feeling a migraine coming on "Wait, haven't we seen this before?" Isla asked.

"Akurusa-he lied" Musera's mouth formed a thin line "It turns out, this world's not devoid of supernatural elements after all-Gano was right." Isla bit her lip, drawing blood "Ye..Yeah.." she struggled to admit "It seems so..." she turned away, finding it hard to look Musera in her face "Seems I've been wrong about a lot of things.." eyes downcast, Musera turned in bed, pushing up Isla's chin "No time to hold our heads down, now that we've finally got you making sense.." she teased smiling "Muse-thank you."

"Leslie, Leslie, please wake up" her mother roused her from her sleep, rocking her gently "You sound scared mom" Leslie yawned "What's wrong?"  trying out her new NoisePods she'd fallen asleep to her favorite song "What time is it?" wiping sleep from her eye, checking the time on her phone, burying her face in her pillow she let out a yell "Errrrrrr..my god! I'm late!!"

She jumped out of bed "I got school today!" she stomped "Why didn't you wake me up!?"  Leslie's mom was unsure of what to say, knowing no solace would be found in the solemn expression on her face "Just wanted to let you know school's canceled today-" reaching out to touch Leslie's face "Breakfast's is downstairs, come down when you're ready." she got up, closing Leslie's bedroom door 'Huh? Wonder what's that about?' pit patting to her bathroom, she got ready for the rest of the day.

Deciding it best to take a peep at her phone, she saw several missed calls and texts, one in particular was from Tar'Quez's mom "Mom texted me, wonder if something's going on with Tar'Quez." reading the contents of the text, her parents did their best to not overreact once they heard screaming from upstairs.

Tension so thick it couldn't be cut with a knife, it seemed her parents were expecting her "Tell me you don't know!!" she screamed knowing she was throwing tantrum "Tell me you don't know!! Tell me you don't know!!" not even bothering to put on house shoes, her tiny feet crashed against the marble floor "Calm down sweetie" her dad try to assuage her fears "Leslie please.." her mom pleaded "Did something happen to Tar'quez?! The other kids at my school? Are they okay!?" snot coming out of her nose, she started sniffling and shedding tears. "No one really knows-" her dad started to explain

"Strangest phenomena town's ever seen, it's like something out of a bad horror movie, or a plot that get's left on the cutting room floor from one of my companies games. No one's sure what's going on with this situation, Tar'Quez and all the kids involved are responsive they're just lethargic to the point that-" pushing his glasses up on his face, he squirmed in his seat "They barely have the will to live." Taking her husbands into hers, Leslie's mother attempted to comfort him "We thanked God once we got the news report nothing happened to you-"

Leslie grew impatient "Why didn't anything happen to me?!" she demanded answers "That's what I don't get!" she shouted "Leslie-" her mother paused biting her lip "You're not the only one Leslie, a lot of kids with hearing issues  or fell asleep to how you did aren't showing any effects. You should consider yourse-" Clearing his throat, Leslie's father spoke.

"Believe it or not Leslie, you ARE Blessed. There is a silver of hope in you and the other kids, the fact that you're alright means not only can this  avoided-it may even be reversed." Leslie looked back and forth between her parents "Tar Tar's already sick. That doesn't make me feel better at all...If he has to be sick..I wish I was sick too!" Sharing a look, Leslie's mother lowered her head hearing Leslie's outburst "Sorry you feel that way."

Wiping her eyes and nose, Leslie pulled at her braids "When can we see him? Can we go see him now! Please! Please! Please!!" Leslie's mother and father looked at each other and acquiescing Leslie's whims seemed to be the only path left "Yes, go up and get ready" her father instructed, getting up from the table "We're on our way right now." Leslie's mother frowned, hearing her daughter's bedroom door slam after rushing to her room "Are we...doing what' right?" walking over, Leslie's father put a comforting hand on his wife's shoulder "Yes, I think we are."

"This is not okay!" Anger was written all over Musera's face "Isla you better not try to not stop me!There's nothing you can do or say!!" Musera paced back and forth, before floating mid-air  "PIxie calm down so we can come up with a plan!" Isla was irate "Run out there and get killed, then we do count on to solve this case!! Me?! Yoshino! Our powers our too destructive! Now that you're needed, at least act with a level head Muse!" Yoshino burst in their room, a rare sight for him to leave the living room-kitchen area that time of day "If I  may speak my peace-" Room quieting, Isla and Musera allowed him to have his turn.

"Listening to your loud shrills has almost turned me over into my grave, never have I seen two more loud and more wrong " Isla and Musera had no response "Muse how you've been acting is reminiscent of a fair folk child, living without confidence, prancing around without care-that's all ver for now." Isla smirked "Don't you dare Isla, you're even worse: your morals, your principles, your integrity, your sense of justice, and altruistic conviction absolutely gone-" he sneered

"We have no choice as of late, but to respect our biggest gun, that doesn't mean there's much left to like..or to love. The luxury of comfort provided by companionship and affability you once had is no more-I can't see we'd still be around if we didn't need you at all-and that's all your fault. It's ironic with your power that you can draw everything to you, but you keep pushing away your friend."

A strong gust of could be felt hitting where they stayed "Yosh calm dow-" Musera reached to touch him, but he pulled away."There's a time for calm Muse, but always remember that often after that calm comes a storm." Yoshino's light grey eyes started to glow "Yosh...I'm sorry"Isla apologized, scared to look him in his face, eyes downcast "Yes, I am too." Making a sharp turn, his back faced them, he paused before taking his leave "Apologies are nothing if they come without true meaningful change, what's felt in one's heart should reach more than one's self-it should be felt by those they love." Heading down, his words weighed heavy on their minds.

"I want some answers on what's going on with my boy!!" Tar'quez's father was irate, veins could be seen showing in his neck and face, not to mention his eyes were red having gotten little sleep "He's been kept over night, you've run all the tests, lord knows the damn bill's going to be sky high,  FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH HIM NOW!" Dr. Shamez' backed up, he could tell by how aggressive Tar'quez's father was being that things could left in a hurry "My son's fallen victim as well, the only concerned parent in this room isn't you." drawing closer, noses touched and fists were clenched-physical altercation was about to ensue "Dear please" Tar'Quez's mother begged, holding on to his hand. Heeding his wife's plea, he thought best to back off.

.

"Doctor, I've got someone who wants to visit" a nurse walked in holding a chart "A little girl named Leslie-says she's one of his friends from school-will that be okay? She's really worried about your son."  Tar'quez's mother felt a load lift, looking at her son "Thank God" she let out a sigh of relief "Thank God she's okay" Tar'Quez's face seemed to relax in his sleep, it was as if he could hear every word they were saying.

"Leslie's family" Tar'Quez's mother answered "She's always allowed to come in-and her parents too." smiling, the nurse stepped out, signaling Leslie and her parents to come forth "Tar'quez!" Leslie rushed to his side soon as the nurse let them in  noticing how listless he looked, she hoped and prayed hearing her voice would cause him to stir "So it's true-" she lowered her head, on the verge of tears "He really is doing that bad." seeing him hooked up to IV and several tubes, something within shattered "Tar Tar.." she reached, hands trembling, not believing this was real

Comforting her, Dr. Shamez placed a hand on her head "Looks bad, but he's doing a lot better than others, given a day or two he should pull through." A lightbulb went off in Leslie's head "Why'd this happen to him and not me?" she asked, Dr. Shamez looked away "When Tar'Quez woke for several minutes before you got here..he recalled hearing a song before being swept up the sweetest of dreams...many others claim the same" Dr. Shamez placed his hand on his chin.

"I have a theory relating to you and those-" he pointed to her NoisePods "that I'm going to give a try." he continued "If we can prevent, then that lights a hope in my heart that we can also cure-and hope is all I need in order to figure this thing out!"he slammed his fist into his palm.

Tar'quez's father jumped  , having taken a seat next to his boy "Doctor, I'd like to apologize" he held out his hand "I see you're doing everything you can to save our boys" Looking at his hand, Dr. Shamez didn't hesitate to give Tar'quez'a father a shake "It's fine" he pulled the other man into an embrace " I understand. Excuse me for now, I must take my leave." exiting the room, he took a glance at Leslie and her NoisePods "Thank you Leslie, you've confirmed my suspicions and given me a great idea." Leslie blank stared, not sure how to respond "Thank you." he uttered and was out the door

"What'd I do?" taking her NoisePods out of her ear, she started at them "And why'd he mention these-" looking back and forth she handed them over to Mrs. Stone "Maybe they can protect him now." she offered, despite herself,  Mrs. Stone laughed"Leslie.....thank you dear... Tar'quez would kill me-" she snorted " I know one thing that's allowing my baby  boy to hold and be strong  is knowing deep in his heart you're safe. Keep that good luck charm for you, as long you keep my boy in mind and heart like you always have he'll be fine."

Giving her mom an apologetic look  them back in ears, should took a final look at Tar'quez "Okay. Is it alright if I stay? It'll only be a lil' longer." Tar'quez's mother beamed with pride "Stay long as you like." Taking a seat next to Tar'Quez's father, he beamed with pride seeing his son cared for much by a friend "Leslie" his expression softened "Thank you."  Tar'Quez didn't wake until after they left, but color returned to his face, his vitals improved, and a hint of smile could be seen the whole time Leslie held his hand.

"Miss Lady, you seem to be in mood today, mind telling this old man what's wrong?" Mr. Harrison looked up in his mirror at the purple-haired young woman in his backseat "Today, I don't feel very much a lady at all." her tone was ice cold "I see" Mr. Harrison was taken aback by her response,  dressed in a pink sweat suit, she didn't even bother to tie her hair up or put make-up on "It only takes on fire for a whole forest to burn" he advised, Musera looked at him looking at her.

"What doest that mean?" Mr. Harrison stifled a laugh "It means, just what it says, not all tragedy occurs cause of some nefarious scheme, happenstance of a bad draw can set forward a chain of events that who drew said card can't even control." Muse wasn't amused "So what about the victims? The people fall prey? The ones all that damage the chaos does to?"  Mr. Harrison sighed "We help them best we can Miss Muse. All world's a stage, and those with kind hearts have toughest of parts to play." Muse started at her reflection through the window pane "Is that so?"

"At least, that's what I believe." Musera rewinded their conversation, eyes widening "Did you just call me?" she gasped "I'm but a simple old man, driving a taxi back and forth until I get home-no need to fear-whatever secrets your heart holds are safe with me."  he tipped his cap "Who are you?" she stared at his back "Ah, an uninteresting question in light of recent events Miss Lady, a better question would be-who are you?" they drove in silence rest of the way, Gears turning in Musera's mind, unable to make out left from right.

"Thank you so much for coming Leslie. I hate you have to go." Tar'quez's mother squeezed  tight "Thanks for letting me stay." Leslie's hugged back "We'll come tomorrow too!" Leslie's parents exchanged hugs goodbye with Tar'Quez's parents too "Praying for you and your boy man." dapping up with one hand, the men patted each other on the back "And those prayers will be answered soon! Even if I have to find whose responsible myself!" she yelled at a still sleep Tar'Quez. The adults in the room hearts warmed witnessing her optimism "Mom, dad, before we go home, it's one more place we need to go."

Leslie asked, quieting down "Um. Where?" her father looked down confused "That'll be fine. I understand " her mother agreed, unable to resist her doe eyed request  "You guys take care" Leslie's father waved, leaving with his family in tow "Bye, Tar'Quez." Leslie waved with renewed vigor and determination in her heat 'Not sure what's going on...but I think I someone who could help!' she thought, having on person and one place in mind.

"Mr. Harrison..thank you." Musera hadn't spoken for until ride's end "No Miss Lady, thank you, your light brightens my day, it's a blessing being in your presence" he tilted his cap, she hadn't brought any bags or anything with her so he didn't have to get out "So, pick you up same time as always?" he questioned "Yes, however I do have a request" she looked down, twiddling fingers "Are your services available at night?" Mr. Harrison blushed "Miss Lady, this isn't that kind of taxi!" he was incredulous in response "Oh stop!" Musera blushed covering her face with both hands "I don't mean it like that!!" she wailed, only to find Mr. Harrison snickering "Now that's the face I love and know-doesn't take much to make you blush m'am."

Musera's cheeks puffed "That's just mean!" she pouted "Yes, whatever is needed of me at this time.." he answered, his demeanor now serious "Next few days, I won't be getting much service anyway, so I don't mean helping out one of my favorite passengers past time." Musera's heart warmed, and a smile crept its way up her face "Fine. I won't be long today, so don't go far." getting out, she made her usual into The Old Theatre "I pray you don't Miss Musera" looking up, clouds blocked the sun from his view "We may need you around."

"Leslie, are you sure? It doesn't look safe to go in" her mother's rolled down the window worried" she fussed "Mom, there's something I need to!" she yelled back "Is this really where's she's been sneaking around?" her father questioned her mom "Can't say I'm fan." The building's worn down architectural build inspired little confidence, chipped paint, cracked windows, rats scurrying about-any parent'd be concerned "Leslie's a good girl, a bit irrational at times, but she has a kind heart, so if she's adamant about going in there-I can only pray it's for a good reason."

Watching her daughter move the plank of wood, she felt her chest tighten when she  slipped through the crack into the building.  Foot just touching floor, a serene scene greeted her along with an angelic voice. "Make my wish true , let darkness slip aside...."  Musera was  basked in light refracted from stain glass, giving her a radiant glow "Hiding all our hope..mocking what we treasuurreeeee.."

Walking in Leslie was awestruck,  Musera was swept up in emotion: every breath, every moment, ever chord, being put forth into song "Battles we can  win...if we believe our souls...hangin for the light til' dawwwwwwn" a ray of light shone on Leslie's face "Lovveeeee will not leavvvvvveee you....Hattteee will not heallllllll yoouuuu.." Face turning red, running out of breath, something deep down begged her to finish, "Prayyyyyyyyyyy..thaaatttttt one dayyyyy.....peace shall flow everywhherrrrreeeeeeeeeeee..."

On days such as these, Musera's appearance come off as that of a 'fair' person purple hair, skin without blemish, and eyes to match, in moments where her soul was at peace her aura exuded beauty and grace. "Are you real?" Leslie got up on her tip toes, placing a hand on Musera's cheek, she jerked it back soon as she felt skin "Oh! I apologize!" she bowed her head "Mom says that's rude! I'm so sorry!" Musera giggled watching her break down into a flustered mess "Thank for the compliment Leslie. It's fine. You're hardly the first." Leslie looked up in shock, pointing at herself "You know my name!?"

"Yes, every performer deserves an audience, it'd be rude of me-with audience of one-to not know their name." Leslie's face lit up "Thank you!" she closed her eyes smiling "No, thank you!" Musera beamed back "Still, normally you'd never dare to come in here, unless you were in trouble....what's wrong?" Eyes downcast, Leslie started fiddling with her braids "So, you hear everything that goes on out there?" A solemn expression made its way onto Musera's face "Yes, I do." Clouds outside blocked the sun, and light disappeared casting shadows over them both "Music's a gift, not a curse Leslie, something's perverted that, I came her to think today-not sing-but hearing you outside I couldn't help myself." Leslie looked back up "I inspired you?"

Musera giggled again "I wouldn't go that far little girl, a tiny silver of the sun's rays peaking through is all we need sometimes to find hope again-even on days as sad as today." Taking out her phone, Leslie played some recordings, Much to Musera's surprise, her eyes opened wide when the voice coming out the speakers turned out to be hers "You've been recording me!"

Leslie's grin was wide "Yep!" Musera took a deep breath to calm herself "That's fine, those deserve to belong to you, considering how dangerous it is outside, I think it may be best for both of us if you stay at home." she tried to advise "I can't!" Leslie shouted, grabbing the hem of Musera's candy cane stripped dress "I was wondering-" she looked aside nervous "Can you help my friend!" bending down, Musera wrapped her arms around Leslie.

"I can't promise anything, but trust that I'm doing everything I can. Hand me your phone" Leslie did as instructed "If you're ever in trouble....dial that number and I'll be there." patting her head "What happened to your friends is happening to kids all around town...I don't want that happening to you so keep these in." Leslie reached for her ears "Hey! How'd you get those!!" Musera held them in the palm of her hands "Maybe one day I'll teach you" she winked "You gotta go now...your parents are worried about you, and I don't want anyone else coming in."

Taking back her NoisePods she put them back in "Tomorrow will you be here?" Looking unsure, something about a child's innocence struck a chord "Yes, same time as always dear." she reassured Leslie with a smile "Okay." she whispered "I won't tell anyone you're here." she zipped her lips "Thank you." Leslie read her lips, waving goodbye, she trotted down the hall, making her way back outside.

"Seems we've set the town ablaze" Raiden chewed on a toothpick, dining at one of the more expensive resteraunts in town, he and Posoine' were there to plan their next move game "Shame" Poisoine' took a sip of her drink "Not what I"m here to do."  she crossed one leg over another "Nice dress"  Raiden complimented, taking a bit out of complements of the chef "Not sure what this is-" he talked with a mouthful "But it's delicious." Posoine' frowned

"For a mortal, you have such poor manners" Raiden swallowed then grinned "What can I say? Wasn't raised with a silver spoon "A silver tongue's eluded you as well" Poisoine' teased "Still, for surface dwellers, they're not so bad at fish." she took a bite "So what's next?" she asked Raiden "Higher-ups want more juice, so more's gotta be stored up right?" Poisone's incisors became fangs "Is that so!?" she set her fork down incensed "So that little care for young innocent lives? Truly a disgusting race." she commented, appetite lost all a sudden

"I agree." Raiden wiped his mouth with a napkin "Still, sirens are being purged as we speak, what's a price to pay for a person's race?" he posed "It's not my price to pay, don't assume I care for any 'race' in particular- my kind or yours." she snapped, eyes glowing yellow "Calm down. Calm down...dear" their server came to refill their drinks "None of those fair maidens look beautiful as you." he gave her hand a kiss "How disgusting." she jerked away.

"Apologies" Raiden threw his hands up in defeat "Or an excuse?" Poisoine' raised in eyebrow, curious on why he'd do such a thing "Anyways, tonight I can expand my range, we can go to a discreet location and take care of things. My powers have grown" she smirked, pleased with herself  "You've got some evil on your face." Raiden took a clean napkin, wiping off a speck of food "Be careful trifling with me, toleration doesn't mean your immune...not to my wrath...not when it comes to my rage.." Raiden pointed his utensil at her "Why are you mad?"

"Leslie, why'd you go in there?" Leslie's mother asked her daughter, feeling protective, she joined her backseat "Oh. I was talking to my friend." Leslie gave a cheery response "Friend?" Leslie's look at her daughter confused "The one I told you about! With the super pretty voice!!" her daughter's face brightened up "She says she's going to help Tar'Quez" Leslie's mother couldn't tell if Leslie's imagination was trying to cope, or if she was being for real "Mom, what's wrong?"

Leslie's mom started feeling faint "Nothing dear....you sure you're okay?" she rubbed her forehead, doubling back on checking her daughter's mental state "Couldn't be better!" Leslie smiled, NoisePods in, she scrolled and start jamming to music on her phone "Leslie's father listened in, furrowing his brow "Well, that's strange, can't imagine someone shutting themselves in there just to sing" he mused "Then again, I don't think our daughter's making any of that up....whatever's going on is definitely stranger than strange."

"Leslie, school might be out for the rest of the week, anything you'd like to do?" her mother asked soon as they got home "I'm feeling pretty tired mom" she yawned and stretched "Think I'm going to hit the hay." Her parent's exchanged looks of concern "Well..that's alright dear" her dad looked his daughter over, searching for signs of anything strange "Just let us know if you feel out the ordinary in any sort of way-and make sure to keep those NoisePods in!! " he scolded "Yes sir." she obeyed him, putting them back in "Don't worry guys...I think after tonight everything's going to be okay!" she gave them a thumbs up, before taking a turn to her room.

"I don't know why you let her go into that creepy ass building, now she's acting strange" Leslie's father said offhand "Oh great! Surprise. Surprise. you're blaming me." her mother glared at her husband', storming off !" he rubbed his neck "Sorry, didn't mean for it to come out that way. Guess the stress is getting to me too." Leslie's mother relaxed, lowering her tone "" she rubbed his back to comfort him "Who the hell's Musera?" mention of that name  left Leslie's mother stuck in a stupor "Hellllooooo?"

Looking at him blank-faced and bewildered she shoulder shrugged without giving it a thought "I don't know..I really don't know..." rubbing her temples, her head throbbed and felt like it was about to explode. "Well don't worry about it dear" it was his turn to comfort her "Kids are going to be kids, let's get some rest." leading her to the couch, the two wrapped themselves under a blanket, and turned on the news.  "We gotta check around the clock on our baby girl." sun turned to moon, and try as they might, all occupants in the house lost against sleep-the sandman making his rounds.

In a familiar forest far away from town, Poisoine' and Raiden met in a clearing along with several guards for hire "About that time" Raiden stared at the yellow crescent moon, looking into Poisone's eyes, he let his gaze linger trying to see if the color was the same "They are." she answered, reading his mind "That one of your talents now? Reading mind?" he raised his eyebrow intrigued "No, I just know men-mortal men especially. You're a predictable lot." she strode past him "Why are these louses even here?" she looked on in disgust

"Security measure, though knowing they know what they know-" Raiden surveyed the area "I have no idea who or what for." he finished "What an ugly sight to behold" Poisoine''s teeth turned to fangs, unsettled and starting to lose control Raiden rested his head on her shoulder "What are you doing?" she lost focus, not remembering why she was mad "They say the soft shoulder of a woman's a perfect place to rest." Poisoine' smirked "Only one letter separates leech and lech. Can guess which letter is that?" Raiden leaned further, wracking his brain "No, what?"

"The letter 'e'" she elbowed him in his ribs, coughing up sputum, he hunched over "Humans, such worthless dreck, don't take my tolerating as taking to you...I consider you scum like the rest" she spit "I guess it's time, too bad I can't drain them instead" lips licked, her eyes took on a mischievous glint "To see them listless, lifeless, left with nothing but a wisp-" she shuddered at the thought "nothing would bring me more joy." whiplash occurred, taking a deep breath, stoicism took place as a mask.

"Three..Two..One.." she counted down, beginning to sing once again, many men stepped back, and a few drew closer, captured not only by radiant beauty, but wanting to see up close what was taking place, "So it's true." one man remarked "She really is a maiden" another oh'ed and ah'ed "Careful." he held his partner back "Remember men, she's not giving life-she's taking it-that's not a fair folk fairy you're looking at....it's a witch."

Words cutting worse than any knife she'd felt Poisoine' felt a shoulder tap and looked back-it was Raiden giving a thumbs up "Foolish mortal" she continued singing at a frequency, only ears far away could hear, however not far away waves of seen could still be felt and seen.  Out of nowhere, men started dropping like flies. Yellow aura engulfing, it dissipated, Poisoine' looked around "Raiden-" she pulled him close, holes appeared in vital points, and blood splattered as many more men were laid to rest "Close your eyes" Poisoine' instructed 'Is it me or did her voice have a slight tremble?' Another armed guard went down, even more strange, none were making any sound.

"RAH!!" Letting out a shrill, skin turned to scale, milky white darkened into a greenish-blue, and sclera turned black "Been awhile since I've feasted for flesh the old-fashioned way" Poisoine' growled, having kick off her shoes, her hands fingertips were replaced by claws and her feet were webbed, catching whiff of, she took off at amazing speed, a bullet bounced off her scaled skin "There you are!" she punched a hole into a tree "Sneaking around, are you that scared head on?" Rustling was heard east "Nose always knows, she lunged knocking over another tree "I've been fooled!"

A puffy grey jacket was abandoned "Ah!" a bullet hit Poisoine' rendering her left eye inept "You'll pay!!" Hearing rustling louder than before, she followed her nose, streaking past and through trees til' she dug her claws into her prey "Gotcha!" she grinned, flashing all teeth, in the end she was disappointed to find it was a wild wolf's blood spilled "No" she trembled in shock "I'm sorry" having eviscerated and skewered him through, she placed god's creature down to rest "Seems whoever it was got away." Picking up another scent, it was faint, but enough of a lead to follow "Poi! Help!! Please!" Raiden's desperate plea tugged her very being 'So annoying.'

Choosing to no longer pursue, she took one look, leaving a message before springing away "Til' we meet again."  she whispered, knowing for certain her message'd be relayed, having escaped a safe distance, Musera was still afraid to breath 'Sorry Leslie' eyes squeezed shout, stomach unsettled, she knew the one she was truly disgusted with was herself 'Leslie I'm sorry.  You and your friends'll have to wait. Drawing enough breathe to get home, she made sure to be extra careful silencing steps 'Tomorrow all of this comes to an end-' mouth forming a thin line, moonlight caste a shadow giving her an ominous look 'Over my dead body she gets away with it again.'

"Reporting live, we bring you a live broadcast way past midnight here at  Riverside News, Dr. Shamez you're on air, what do you want to tell the people?" Coughing and clearing his throat Dr. Shamez grabbed the microphone "Hello everyone, this is Dr. Shamez, I just wanted to let everyone know the cause, effect, and why-even though we haven't found a cure- no more precious innocent lives will fall victim to this ailment causing us trouble these past two  days."

Flipping through his notes, he was careful to go over his research "My hypothesis proved itself correct, many of you may have heard of something known as "The Mosquito's song"; this is a phenomena where certain frequencies of noise can only be heard by a child, this is why we've only seen illness inflicted upon the young. Tonight we conducted experiments, where for all intents and purposes, participants were would would be  considered 'deaf' Turning a page he went over results.

"At this very hour, none of those kids were reported suffering from a trance-like state, none left the house,  and none suffered symptoms or reported feeling lethargic as many have the night before- in fact they seem to be doing  just fine. Until this state of emergency passes, special noise blocking headphones are going to be passed around until we find a way to reverse what's already been done.

School and public events will be canceled for today and tomorrow, and we advise you to not leave your house; now that we've found our shield, I know deep down in my heart, that we're right around the corner from finding our  sword. As a doctor I want to remind you, health is about quality of life-not quantity-, prevention, and cure; we haven't achieved everything we need, but a far cry from where we were earlier today, in terms of progress this is exactly what we want." finishing his speech, he looked at the anchorman to let him know he was about to wrap things up.

"Direct any questions to this number shown on screen, and if your children are showing any symptoms listed, dial eight-one-one. Remember even when city's sleep: doctors, nurses, firefighters, and those who keep vigil over the sick and downtrodden do not-Good night and God bless."exhaling, he pulled out his earpiece "Dr. Shamez" the anchorman got up shaking his hand "Thanks. Hope your son's doing okay."

Dr. Shamez forced a smile "He will be John. He will be." Yoni-his head nurse- rode with him there, holding out a thermus full of coffee and a blanket, she stayed by his side as he walked out the station "How'd I do?" he asked "You did fine Doctor. You did fine."Stumbling, Yoni steadied him with her hand, shifting her weight so he'd regain his balance "Thank you." he adjusted his glasses"Anytime." she continued escorting him out

Sitting on the couch, Isla, Yosh, and Musera were prisoners-not only of the moment- to their own thoughts "What happens next?" Isla was stuck, birds were chirping outside, dusk turning to dawn "Don't know, can't afford a repeat of tonight, it's clear I was being rash in revealing myself so soon-they know something's a miss." Yoshino got up, deciding to take things off his mind, he started taking things out the pantry to cook "Waffles or pancakes?" Isla and Musera looked at one another "Waffles" they answered in unison "At least when it comes to food-" Isla started

"We agree." Musera finished "Back there, things got too close for comfort" she frowned, Isla was on an island in being worried and concerned "Maybe it's not too late to back out-let me handle it." Musera snorted "If I let you do that, I'll be walking away from everything I've been fighting myself to believe, plus this type of enemy only I can nullify-it's too dangerous for you."

They sat in silence as time passed "Soloing it is dangerous y'know" Isla started "You could die." Musera yawned, earlier events coupling with a need to sleep catching up "That's a risk worth taking, there's this little girl who came to hear me sing every day-my songs gave hope and inspired her in so many ways-I couldn't believe she was talking about me." Eyes fluttering, sleep was about to win "To hope is to dream, if people are scared to sleep, they may never dream again-that's the main reason I sing.." eyes wide shut, she leaned further back "I sing, cause music is imagination's muse...and...anywhere...you..can..go.."

Isla got up placing a blanket over Musera "Rest up Muse" walking over, Yoshino accepted a helping hand in fixing impromptu breakfast "Pour in the mix" he instructed "Why's Muse like that Yosh?" she asked, doing as he said "In many ways, we both want to emulate them, Musera's focus is just narrowed down to one in particular  so she's a bit more self-sacrificing and willing to throw caution to wind in following his ways."

Isla looked back "All I want to do is keep her safe" she blinked back tears "Ironic=" Yoshino commented, handed his handkerchief over to Isla "She said the same, you two are so similar, yet so different in so many ways-that's what makes you great friends." Isla let laughed while wiping her eyes "Think so?" Yoshino cupped his ear "I know. The wind told me."

Isla rolled her eyes "What wind, all the doors and windows are cold." Yoshino snickered "That's why it's called faith-there lies power in things that can never be seen, but are always felt." Musera's snoring distracted them "She knows" Yoshino winked "Now help me finish these waffles, tomorrow's going to be a day." Isla looked at Musera's face weary, but relaxed 'Yeah' Isla thought, stomach filled with butterflies 'Maybe it will.'

Leslie woke up sandwiched between parents 'Thought this was my bed' looking back and forth, it appeared they walked in to check on her and fell asleep 'Wow. Must be super worried. That hasn't happened since I was a kid.' Phone ringtone playing, Leslie kept her NoisePods in, screen tapped twice, she saw Musera sent a text "Oh no" troubled at first glance, reading its contents confirmed Leslie's doubts.

'Leslie, meeting you has been one of the very greatest joys of my life. I came from a far away world some would call the other side, and I've been homesick for quite a while-my soul's sole solace being to sing. However to tango takes two, and music is no different, a woodsman craftsmanship, a painter's art, a sewer's quilt mean nothing if not felt by another heart's warmth. Whether to destroy or to create, these talents are gifts, and Leslie you have a gift given that can bring others so much joy.'

Leslie was a blubbering mess, hand over mouth, she was trying all she could not to wake her parents 'Our hearts intertwined, our souls proved to be kindred spirits as we sang with glee, I'm gland I found an audience of one to perform for-however my life's true purpose is to protect those like you and your friend-tonight I failed. Leslie, I don't intend to fail you again, seeing joy anew in you has brought life and new hope I never thought I had-to set things right will take everything I have.' Leslie read on perplexed and confused

'Goodbyes are for when there are no more hellos left between kindred spirits and friends, so I want so goodbye, I hope to see later again, and if I don't just know that before the clock strikes mid-night tonight all will be well. Until Next Time. Your New Singing Buddy, Muse.' singing off with a signature and smiley face attached Leslie deleted the text 'She lied!' floodgates opened  'She didn't come through Head buried in a pillow, Sadness rocked her to sleep-pillowcase stained with tears.

"Found something!" In a random hotel hiding out, Poisone tended to Raiden's wounds, placing her hands on him they glowed a bright yellow "Amazing. What can't you do?" Poisone dug her claws "Ouch!" Turning to meet her face, he was greeted with a hollow stare "Don't think your special cause I'm healing you-" Poisoine' paused, thoughts drifting "Something wrong?" Raiden studied every line of her face "You okay?" Poisoine' refused to meet his gaze, healing away.

"Who was that..by the way?" last was a blur far as he was concerned "Someone hellbent to stop me..that's who." Poisoine' answered pupils shrinking "Easy, those guys were sent to spy on us-it's good we're out the way." Raiden place his hand atop Poisoine's making eye contact once again "So strange, you've seen my true form while carrying you back-are you not scared?" "A wolf's ravenous paired with an angel's face-sounds perfect to me. Eyes deceiving, he swore he saw Poisoine's pale skin tinge red.

"You've healed enough" his wounds closed, getting of his med, Poisone' returned to her own "Now's time for work. how do we lure whoever that was again?" she seethed "Never have I been so disgraced!! Bailing out on a fight is a coward's way!" Scratching up sheets, her voice reverberated "They'll throw us out..calm down." To Raiden's surprise, Poisoine' relented "You're right." Raiden almost fell off his bed "Be careful Raiden." falling back instead of over, his jaw hit the floor "Why so nice!?"

"Foolish for a mortal aren't we? It's quite simple, I find you entertaining for now...when I don't...I'll remove you...you'll do well to remember." Gulping, it was Raiden's turn to feel a bit flustered "Thanks..I suppose." remembering his training, he regained composure-he was a former  merc for hire after all "Trust that you don't have to find them, they'll find you." Poisoine's kicked her legs-now laying in bed-confused "How so?" Raiden smirked

"Oh man." a gleam in his eye, Raiden smirk took up his whole face "What's that look for?" Getting up Poisoine's ran and leaned over Raiden, staring down at him face to face "Tell me, do you want to be free?" Poisoine' was perplexed "I've already been free, to me freedom is a price on must pay, I'm not willing and never will be." Raiden snickered "There's a way.." Faces drawing closer a magnetism started to develop between the two "What do you mean?" Leaning closer, they were nose to nose "After tonight, everything we want and need, will be for the taking."

Scales forming, skin turning blue, Poisoine' started to transform "Bold claim, never has that been within reach for those of cursed by sea, now I'm suppose to believe an arrogant aimless mortal-who are you?" Raiden smiled "I'm someone seeing your true form, yet my heart has only skipped one beat-not many." Poisoine' cackled "So you want credit for not being afraid!" sclera black, yellow orbs replaced eyes "No, that's not what I want credit for...you already know.."

Changing back, Poisoine' was human in appearance again "Where you going?" Raiden asked, she stalked off to the bathroom before looking back "Freshening up, since today may be our last, I want to do more than pretend to be mortal for a day." Raiden ran his fingers through his spiked mullet do' "O..kay.." Poisoine's flashed a genuine smile "You'll be joining me off course.....I'd hate to face death alone." Waiting for his confirmation Raiden got up and gave salute "Yes queen."

Giggling, Poisoine' caught him off guard again "Yes, you're a silly one indeed." Door closing, running water could be heard "Oh man" Raiden held his breath "Top brass finds about what's going down, there might be nothing left in wake once that storm passes through." looking up to the ceiling, his mind was consumed 'No matter what tree, maybe it's never too late turn over a new leaf..." his chest grew warm "Then again, what is life but a dream? That's why it's called a wake after all.." Closing his eyes sleep took as he waited for Poisoine' to finish up.

""Mr. Harrison, what are  we doing today?" The mood on their usual ride today had been sombre, surprised she even decided to speak, he almost swerved off the road "Dressed to the nines I see, all well that ends well, I suppose this old man will leave it up to you!" He exclaimed. Dressed in a long formal yellow dress, she sported a pair of white linen gloves, and a set of pearls to match "Then, let's explore the town, I want to experience as much art and culture as I can if I may." Musera's manner of requesting was meek, but hands folded, Mr. Harrison could tell she was anxious for answers.

"Of  course we may " a sly smirk snuck its way onto his face "Muse you are apt named, not only can find virtue in vice, but you are always looking in value undiscovered-that's why you enjoy when people create." he looked up into the mirror, making sure his eyes were visible he winked "Let me guess that's why they're called creatives" Musera winked back "You know, you seem to understand me better than most Mr Harrison- find that quite strange."

Mr. Harrison chuckled "All part of being a father, plus when you get being this old...reading people's becomes more of a habit than a skill." A large black bag was siting next to Musera, eyes darting over,Mr. Harrison's mind was in a tug-o-war on whether or not he should ask. "You've already figured out my name Mr. Harrison" Musera taunted, wagging her finger "No need to know anything else or I might have to kill." Eyebrows raised, he look forward focusing back on the road "Where to first my dear?" Mr. Harrison asked unnerved

"Oh I know just the place.....s" she clapped, squeeing with glee, pulling out her phone, Musera held it up for Mr. Harrison's eyes to see "Here, and here, and oh! We gotta go here too!"  eyes lit up in excitement, Mr. Harrison was hit with a spell of deja vu "Ah, Miss Musera, must I say..you've got great taste..." Mr. Harrison zoned out, driving on one road, his mind taking a trip on another "You've got great taste indeed..."

Musera furrowed her brow "Mr. Harrison, are you okay?" Clearing his throat a bit, he looked  in his side mirror before answering "Yes, this old man's fine, a wave of nostalgia washed over me for a moment, but now I'm doing okay. Let's enjoy the day, and not concern ourselves about what lies ahead later tonight." Musera gasped "Wait, do you know...and how do you-"

Holding a finger to his lips, Musera saw a gleam in his eye "When it comes to our secrets-old men-much like magi and magicians-never tell." Musera squirmed in her seat "Fine." she pouted "I'll just find out myself!" she primped her dress "That you will! May we both look forward to the day!" he let out a laugh filled with joy and mirth  "When it comes to you, I believe anything's possible, at the heart of every great piece of art there lies-a muse."

"Ah!" Musera looked around in awe, The Renaissance was very similar in design to the Old Theatre, except everything was brand new instead of torn apart.  "Does it live up to your expectations?" Mr Harrison escorted her, getting seats in middle row, they arrived just in time, show was about to begin"It' lacks a certain je ne sais quoit- but it's okay.." she scoped out the building "So what's this play called again?"

Musera was inquisitive as ever "It's a play called Aurora" Mr. Harrison indulged "It's about a pure-hearted princess and an evil black fairy putting an innocent village under her spell..." Musera listened as they sat down.  "Caught in a never-ending dream, the people of the kingdom have their life energy zapped away, all but the pure of heart. princess tasked with saving the day." Musera 'ohed' and 'ahed' in interest.

"I know, fantastical tale one might say, anyways since our princess is pure of heat she's bestowed a magic sword and does battle with the evil witch!! Fighting til' not and day until a victor emerges, a thrilling climax occurs!" he shouted drawing whispers and stares "Erm..my apologies." Musera stuck out her tongue "Don't mind them, then what happens?" Musera asked, finally arriving at their row of seats "Well-" Mr. Harrison pointed to the rising curtain "You'll have to watch the play!"

"So, when are we headed out?" Yoshino quizzed Isla on her plans that day "Yosh" she warned, Yoshino felt it harder to move all of a sudden "Using your powers on me already? Someone's in a mood" he teased "Seems my suspicions are confirmed" a look of arrogance adorned his face "Smugness doesn't look good on you Yosh" Isla got up, tossing her long brown mane back and forth "Remember without our powers, which of us would win" she cracked her knuckles for emphasis "With or without powers, nothing would really change-either way you're a brute."

Rushing over, she grabbed Yoshino by his shirt lifting him up "One of these days and you Miss Princess won't have your way!" letting him go, she stomped causing the house to shake "Tell me, when that day comes, will you be happy?" Yoshino asked, barefeet hitting first step, Isla paused "On that day? No one will." she answered, heading back upstairs, Yoshino lifted his arms and jogged in place "Back to normal it seems,Muse....." he trailed off, thoughts full of worry for his friend "Whatever happens, please be okay." Unable to find a book to lose himself in, he plopped down on the couch and did something out of the ordinary-he watched tv.

"So that's how it ends!" Musera and Mr. Harrison walked out together, twirling and spinning, Musera felt as if she was walking on air "I knew you'd like it!" Mr. Harrison clapped, pleased with himself "Like it!? I loved it!!" she announced "Well, seems you're a woman of good taste." A random person flashed a picture of the two "Rare to see father and daughter get along as well as you two! You're almost twins!"

Musera blushed "Refrain from taking pictures without asking permission if you can,my daughter -you see- is extremely shy you see- could you delete them in your phone after sending..." Mr. Harrison was polite as possible asking "Oh, I'm sorry sir." the person looked aside nervous "No, it's fine." Mr. Harrison offered a gentle smile "An old man's memory fails at times.."

Receiving the pictures on his phone, the man held up his own, showing he deleted them "Thank you, these came out well." he tipped his cap "Sorry about that" Muesera apologized with a sheepish grin"Standing out like that, I've brought too much attention our way." Mr. Harrison shook his head "It's quite fine, now where's our next stop for the day?" Musera clapped her hands together, eyes twinkling "Oh! It's a shop that serves old time coffee and tea..I'd love to have a taste." Mr. Harrison offered Musera his arm "Well then, let's be off!"

"Poisoine', it's almost that time" Raiden woke up from his power nap, having dozed off in  a seat in the front row of The Old Theatre, out and about all day, they'd been several place enjoying each other's company: feeding birds at the park, going on a museum tour, eating ice cream, watching a bad movie-it was a hell of a day "Yes, I know" having stood still in a single spot center stage for several hours, Poisoine's eyes opened; clearing her throat she started humming a few notes "Hey Poisoine, can I ask you one last question if that's okay?" sitting on stage's edge, she'd taken off her shoes "Go ahead."

Knowing it may be her last time seeing him she humored him a bit "Raiden, on with it now?" she begged "Sheesh.Okay. Okay." Raiden threw his hands up in defeat "Tell, me when you sing without incentive...you know...not having to siphon or feed off of anyone's energy or anything...do you enjoy it more that way?" Closing her eyes in contemplation, it was a question she'd given some thought to before.

"Yes, when I sing without purpose, it's the only time I feel at peace." she answered, her expression softening "That sounds-" Poisoine' cut him off "Human I know. Maybe it's all the energy I siphoned,  having an affect on my mind and emotions, or maybe deep down I always felt this way. Singing without purpose gives me chance to sing with feelings and intentions- I feel are my own. In that moment, I cease to be a siren of the sea, I simply come to be-myself." she smiled "Would you look me to sing for you?" she offered

"Yes, of course." Raiden replied, taking a deep breath, his heart starting to race 'What's wrong with me?" he stared at the perplexing pegasus in front of him, a beautiful facade, belied by a tortured soul. 'Was he ever really  a monster, or is that what circumstance forced you to become?' looking outside,  the sunset orange sky was staring to color itself blue "Poisoine" Raiden decided not to interrupt, if sun was destined to set, it was better off this way...

"Mr. Harrison, what happened to your daughter?" Musera asked, finishing their last shared activity that day, both of them were on a tour at the museum, stopping at a picture of a woman with a cryptic smile, Musera found it impossible to look away"A Year ago-" Mr. Harrison took his hat off, holding it over his chest "She died." Musera looked aside at Mr. Harrison before eyes darted back to picture.

"A gentle kind spirit was my daughter Alecia, she loved music, art, culture, fashion-much like a certain someone I know he grinned "Growing up, she resembled a fair-folk, flighty, always walking barefoot in the grass, and wanting to be one with nature-" Mr. Harrsion gulped  "That's why we never left her out our sight-she didn't seem to be real."

A tear rolled down his cheek, Musera caught it with her glove "Thank you dear. She got into Finstro' for arts and went off to college, there she might a boy, and in that union he became a man..and she a woman..she was no longer my little girl as they were off to wed." Mr. Harrison laughed "That lad! You should've seen his face, bent down on one knee asking for my Alecia's hand,  however glancing at my daughter...my and I..we just knew.."

Musera looked aside, giving a curious glance "Knew what?" Mr. Harrison met her gaze and smirked "She'd chase him to earth's end-that's what people do when in love..." he trailed off.."Yes-" Musera blushed "I suppose" Mr. Harrison placed a hand on Musera's shoulder "Tis' fine dear..your time will come." Sweat formed and dropped from Musera's temple "It was a trip on their honeymoon...I told them not to go." tone now monotone, Mr. Harrison placed his hands behind his back "A stubborn pixie my Alecia was, she'd fly and flutter wherever her heart desired to go-consequences be damned." Musera eye-rolled at Mr. Harrison's side-eye

"Spring Lakes, a majestic body of water visited by honeymooners, however something strange was occurring that time of year-people were reported missing, and many children who went on boat rides came back sick. I be-I beg-I told her not to go...but she didn't listen, she not only went there to partake in marital bliss-enjoying spring time of new love-she also went there to paint." Mr. Harrison's face contorted into rage, and Musera felt a sinking feeling in her stomach "Mr. Harrison-"

Refusing to be interrupted he continued "My daughter had a beautiful voice and radiant glow, one that could rival any mermaid and sea siren's" Musera's eyes widened, mouth agape "While painting she loved to sing, voice angelic and soft, perfect pitch and tune, once married she told me 'An audience of one is all I need'-I'm content now to paint-I've made others happen enough." Tugging at his shirt, Musera had desperation written on her face "What happened!? Tell me please!" Mr. Harrison eyes were downcast "She-"

"She was murdered, eviscerated, dismembered, and torn apart..to this day..authorities claim it's not a closed case, but it's clear as day they have no idea what it was...but I do." he looked Musera dead in her eye "Siren's in folklore are always jealous ,always inhabit water, and always devour those in a rage because as captivating as they are-they're beauty and song is confined by sea.

They say they don't know! My wife says I'm crazy!! However it came to me one day and a dream..I know..." he whispered the last part dropping to his knees, people starting to stare "I know what happened to my Alecia and her husband.." he started shaking and sobbing, Musera  helped him to his feet as they took leave "I know..." Musera took Mr. Harrison's keys, and held him up all the way back outside. Looking up and catching sight of the moon, she knew it was time....

"Leslie!" Tar'quez's mother was shocked to her and her parents "Heard more people got sick last night! Are you okay?" she rushed over and made sure not a hair was out of place "I'm fine. Mom and Dad are slept in bed with me so I knew I was safe." Leslie gave Tar'Quez's mom a thumbs up, peaking over her shoulder, she tried to take a good look at her friend-hooked up to IVs and tubes, her shoulders sagged in disappointment "I'm so sorry Leslie, I hate you had to see him this way-he's not doing much better I'm afraid-he was up a little bit earlier though."

A look of determination etched itself on her face "He was? Then I'm not worried-" she puffed out her chest "He'll be fine!" Taken aback by her confidence, she looked up to her parent's confused "Our daughter's-" Leslie's father started "Optimistic...she really believes in her friends.." her mother finished "Interesting. I have friends I believe in too, that's not a bad thing Leslie."

Dr. Shamez voice sounded behind them "I have question, has anyone here ever heard of a 'Siren's Curse'?" he posed the question to the room, Leslie remained quiet "I'm a man of medicine, a man of science, but there's nothing more scientific than expanding one's mind and opening yourself up to possibility in the face of what can't be explained."

Leslie's mother stood straight up "So what!? You're saying this is some sort of magic or you don't have any answers at all!?" she screamed, her voice loud and bouncing off the walls "That's exactly what I'm trying to say, what's going on might be beyond the scope when it comes to anything we've encountered in this world. Leslie, this 'imaginary friend' of yours I've been told about.Who exactly is she?"

Leslie shook her head "Honey." her mother bent down placing a hand on her shoulder "If you don't tell us anything, how can we help?" Leslie squeezed her eyes shut " I can't!" she stomped her foot on the ground "You can't what?" Dr. Shamez asked I just can't say.." she whimpered "It's fine Leslie, whether or not your friend comes thru..we have everything we need to make this right far as I'm concerned.." Bending down he laid his hand on her head "For a little girl, your faith in others very strong...you'd make a good doctor one day."

"The resemblance is eerie....from your love of music, your thirst for exploration, your appreciation for the arts, of course...my daughter was a bit more refined" Mr. Harrison teased riding shotgun,  Musera couldn't help from pouting  and glaring daggers in turn"Both of you are kind spirits and such beautiful young women with amazing gift and talent...this old man's been blessed" Musera looked outside-it was getting late.

"Please try to come back" he took Musera's hand into both of his "Don't break this old man's heart again..our future's bright..and I want that light to shine for all the world to see one day...you deserve that chance." Musera's face flushed, Mr. Harrison's hands felt warm  "Mr. Harrison...my light's not quite as bright as hers-" she returned his kind gesture "All I can do is my best. That's all I can do..I hope that''s good enough." Pulling up to the Old Theatre, time moved at as snail's pace as everything seemed to slow down.

"Mr. Harrison, could you tell me your daughter's name again?" Musera asked, looking forward "Alecia." Musera giggled "That's a beautiful name..much prettier than mine." Mr. Harrison lifted up his hand "Musera's not bad" Looking away, Musera didn't have heart to face him "That's a name I gave myself." Taking his back hand, he delivered a light tap to the nape of her neck "Ow!" Mr. Harrison shook his head "Name's our important, but what's even more important is what we think of ourselves..Musera or Lystra Hamon.....it's what you answer to that reveals your true self.."

Turning tomato red, Musera white skin was now crimson "Yes..well thank...sir..." Mr. Harrison chuckled  "Remember, this  taxi is always a place you can return to, and as long as you have a place to return to that you are loved-that's a place you can call home." A peace settled over them, knowing it was calm before storm, Musera cleared her throat and got out and into the backseat to change "Mr. Harrison close your eyes, I've got to change now."

Musera reached for her bag, she slipped into new attire Only downside of raising a girl I'm afraid" he placed his hands over his eyes "Let me know when you're-" Musera cut him off "Done."  Dressed in a black kimino and matching hakuma, red spider lilys decorated both, pulling out a sword sheath holding a katana and a rocket launcher, Mr. Harrison's heart skipped a beat "Oh my.."

He clutched his chest "Perhaps a dramatic number should've been played" he gasped "No, no transformation sequence needed...my gift is more mundane than magic" Musera leaned forward, placing a kiss on his cheek."Thank you Mr. Harrison...for everything. I do not what having a parent is like, but being with you these past few weeks I know  Alecia was truly blessed...and so am I."

Without another word, she got out the car, seeing not a single soul around to bear witness, she  snuck into the Old Theatre one last time.  Upon entering, sound made waves, 'Can't let anymore of those leave!' Focusing, vibrations ceased to make wave, dissipating into thin air , l, "This place-" she made her way down hall, tracing her hands along its walls  and taking in the atmosphere"-was somewhere I called home. Goodbye." pushing double doors open, Poisone stood center stage awaiting her.

"Oh. So she finally joins us." Poisoine' clapped "Isn't the audience supposed to applaud?" Musera narrowed her eyes, a yellow aura surrounded Poisoine "No, a performer feeds off a crowd's energy, their adulation can be just as well deserved-or in your case-earned." Musera walked forward "We're way past being little girls"she pointed at Musera's weapons of choice "Did you bring those toys to hurt me!" Poisone sneered, Stain glass shattering, wind outside and in started to pick up "No, I brought these to finish you off." Musera answered "However I've got a couple of questions." Musera closed her eyes, her posture now relaxed.

"Go on" Posoin's posture relaxed in turn "Do you not see music as art? Is not singing a way to tie and tether together one another's  soul. A way to communicate thought, feeling, frustration, and love through lyric and song? Why pervert something so beautiful? Just now, what I fe-" Dropping the rocket launcher, she grabbed her blade's hilt "Not human" Poisoine' interrupted "Knowing what I am, why appeal to something I don't have...are you foolish?"

Musera frowned an image of a green-haired flashed  "Foolish is what I aspire to. In my heart I've wanted to be..just like him..." Poisone' stepped back "Seems a dark cloud hovers over you. What're you talking about? Be like who?" she questioned, Musera grinned in response  "Out with it!!" Poisoine' shrieked, eyes taking on an eerie yellow glow "Sing for me.." Musera asked out the blue.

Poisoine' poise was lost, nearly tripping over her  long turquoise silk skirt "Did you not come to slay me? Strange Girl?" Musera giggled "Of course!" she smiled without reservation "Fine." Poisoine' acquiesced, granting her request "What would you like for me to sing?" Musera pointed to Poisoine' chest "Whatever's in your heart." Musera took a seat front row

"Mata yo ga.. akereba owakare...." Poisoine' sung  "Yume wa tooki....maboroshi ni..." Musera joined in "Anata wo oikakete-" Poisoine' took a turn, then Musera took another "ita hikari no naka de...."  they sung in unison "dakakeru tabbiii...atatakaiii...kaze tayorrriiii.." Words no longer needed to be spoken, outside a leaf fell off a tree hitting the ground.

Poisoine was posed and ready for battle, skin shifting until full blown scales, her body took seconds to undergo complete transformation. Her sclera turned pitch black, her irises turned white, and her pupils yellow, she launched forward with a wail. Getting up, katana unsheathed, Musera slashed forward ready for battle.

'How predictable', Musera made a sharp cut into air 'Sound Element Technique 1: Shockwave Slash!" Air pressure increased in the shape of where'd she cut, crushing into Poisone's monstrous form, causing her skin to crack. "Poisone'!" Raiden stood up form where he hid, shouting at her 'Fool!' she thought, distracted for a moment, sound waves sped up, they crashed into Poisoine' from the side 'Ah, so that's the nature of your ability....what a dirty trick..'

"Take back everything you stole and this battle can end!" Musera shouted so Poisoine' could hear "That's not an option!" Poisoine' pressed further, lunging again "Poisoine' I said..STOP!" sound waves altered after entering her, Poisoine' was pushed back once again "Tell me, why'd you run last night?" huffing and puffing, the siren stalled to catch breath, Musera wouldn't allow it stomping down, ground split causing Poisoine' to leap out of harms way.

"Often people are blind to what's precious to them...what they want to protect...it's simple as that." Poisoine's checked on Raiden 'Foolish man. I could lose this one. Run away!' staring at him she tried to communicate, sill he stayed on stand by "I'm a monster, a leviathen, a siren of sea!" Forming growing more monstrous she sprouted horns "No, that's what you want to be." hitting blade against ground it started to shake "Die!" Poisoine's screeched, making a bee-line once again

"Won't fall for it" pirouetting on one foot, blade swung about, a yelp was heard behind "How'd you know?" Pushed back and defenseless, Musera jabbed a still shaking katana in between cracked scales "I.I...I...." Poisone' started shaking and vibrating too "IIIIIII...cccannnnnnn'tttttt movvvveeeeeee..." Musera smirked "Music is a love sensation..it's  such a good vibration.. don't you think?" not forgetting to focus her power, ran over to where she left it scooping up the rocket launcher.

"You just walk right in, and now you're trying take me away?" Musera voiced, letting Raiden know she was aware "Don't know how you got dragged into this, but I'd think twice about drawing if I were you...I can tell you hold a candle for this woman...one false move and she disintegrates before your eyes." Raiden dropped his gun, Musera stops in front of Poisoine's readying to shoot "Last chance.." Staring back in defiance, Poisoine's scales refused to form as she continued to shake, molecules and internal organs breaking apart, then taking shape.

"Fi..Fiii...nnnnnneeeeee....." body shaking, Musera's guard lowered, still maintaining her powers affect "You sure?" eyes narrowing, Musera felt Poisoine' out, searching out signs to make sure it wasn't lie "Okay." letting off a little, kindness was taken as weakness in turn, letting out a deafening shriek Raiden covered his ears wincing, opening his eyes he vomited on sight "POISOINE' NO!"

Arms disintegrated, Musera gasp emitted enough force needed to push back-more than enough for her power to kick back in.  "You never learn do you!" Soon, the molecular effect increased, vibrations becoming more violent, Raiden hit his knees "Please!" he begged, bowing his head "Please!! I introduced her to our organization! I dragged her into human affairs!! I've been right hand in all this mess! Take my life in exchange! You've won!!" sobbing unctrolled, Musera looked on in disgust

"Tell me? Do you know the name Alecia?" Musera asked both "Platinum blonde, sunshine smile, singing on a boat at Spring Lake-"Poisoine' was confused "Whaaaa......." speaking was a struggle "SHE WAS MURDERED IN COLD BLOOD!" Giving Poisoine' a break she yelled in aguish, Mr. Harrison's pain and loss her own "Tell me, with all the lives taken by sirens of the sea, why shouldn't I take something of yours?"

Musera's stare was cold as Poisoine's blood "Do what you like" healing factor taking effect, she fond strength to speak "Life once lost, can never be regained, all that  can be done is to make most of what's left." Musera rushed over sword dug deeper in "Are you sure?" Poisoine' cried out in pain "Poisoine' please!" he reached out, knowing there was nothing he could do "Quit, until now, my life's been empty for so long...but as of late when I'm with you...." Musera paused and so did Poisoine'

"We've reached a stalemate" Poisoine's was monotone, hair frazzled, Musera relented once again "Yes. I guess we have." Mouth forming a thin line, Musera pulled out her blade and stood aside "Tell me, what was it you were about to say?" Dress in tatters, basked in moonlight, Raiden found it hard to breathe "When I'm with you I feel I've lived a life with no regrets.." Poisoine' chuckled "Turns out you're a truer witch then I." Scales shattering, nothing was left but skin, falling over, Raiden reacted quick "Gotcha.." looking at Musera, he positioned his body as a shield.

"Poisoine', it seems you've discovered something you don't want to lose, keep that in mind-" Musera turned away, ready to exit out The Old Theatre "I'd hate to have to be back." Poisoine' felt weaker "Hold on to each other tight as you can, guess once you let go-" Musera's voice echoed and reverberated throughout "You may never be able to get it back.." Stumbling downhall, Musera's legs started to wobble and felt weak 'Damn...took a lot more than I thought.." Step by step she became more and more drained..vision blurring...everything faded to black.

"So what happens next?" looking up, an unfamiliar overcame Poisoine' "Don't know, maybe she was right..." Poisoine' giggled reaching up a hand, she stroked his face "Perhaps...so what we've made wrong we set right?" She posed, ball in his court "You've seen for yourself, this city'll be safe with her around-she's kind of badass." Raiden cracked with a grin "Hmp." Poisoine' pouted looking away "Jealous are we?" Raiden looked down smug "No...not one bit...there's still unfinished business left." Raiden brought his face close, noses about touch "Indeed.."

Poisoine's started to cough in fits "Will you be alright!Poisoine'!! Poisoine!" Hand on his touch, a gentle touch let him know "Fine. Whatever happens...I think I'll stick around til' the end. A merc and a maiden turned monster-we can go to hell hand in hand. It'd be a shame to arrive by ourselves.." Now unconscious, Raiden exited stage left, Poisone's skin even more pale than usual and her body limp, each step felt heavier than the next. "That's all folks.." Raiden took a look back at the now wrecked Old Theatre "That's all." Disappearing into shadow, he and Poisoine' were never seen again.

Color returned to Tar'quez's face and his vitals became normal, and  for the first time in days he felt alive, a familiar sight greeted him 'Of course she'd be hear' he thought to himself, Leslie's chair pulled up next to his bed, she was sprawled on his lap fast asleep   "Ya know...girl's don't look cute when they drool" pulling one of her hair beads, Leslie shot up "Tar'Quez stop!" she was furious, and then she realized "Tar'Quez!! You're up!"

Leslie draped herself all over him, machine's beeping woke up his parents too "Well, it's about time you two reunite" his mom cried tears of joy, running over to the other side and hugging him too "How do you feel though? Any better than before?" Tar'Quez flexed his fingers, looking down at his hands "Actually...yeah..I do." Tar'Quez's dad perked up "You do?" he place his hand on his son's in disbelief.

"Yeah!" Tar'Quez formed a fist, eyes brimming with new life "Feels like some of whatever was stolen was restored..or something like that...sounds weird." Leslie shook her head "No, I know what're you saying Tar'Quez." he rubbed his chin "You do? Why'd you say that?" Leslie's mother bailed Leslie out "This young lady's smart as they come! Not to mention woman's intuition son, when we know..we know.." she winked "Leslie, you guys catch up, I'll go try to get the doctor and wake up your parents."

"Dr. Shamez! Dr. Shamez!" having succumbed to micro sleep his nurse got his attention "Yes!....Er..bub bub bub....hrm...Yoni!! I'm up! I'm up! What is it!?" getting up out his chair, Yoni could tell he was on the fritz "Calm down Doctor" she grabbed him, trying to make sure he didn't lose balance "It's about your son.-" she started, this jolted him awake.

"My son!!Well why didn't you say so!" his nurse helped him back to his chair so he could put his coat on "That's what I'm trying to" her tone was gentle and she could do nothing but smile "Hold on-" Dr. Shamez noticed an aura of exuberance exuded by his nurse "That means-" he took off in a spring "Be careful Doctor!!"

Yoni took off after him, making sure he didn't trip or fall. His heart a radar, he didn't need an exact location-he'd walked the ends of the earth and find him no problem "Hey Dad! What's up?" staring at his boy's doe-eyed expression he lost it "My boy!" he ran over "MY BOY!!" taking him by the shoulders, he kissed him all over. "Dad stop! You're embarrassing me!" his son tried to shrug of his father's assault to no avail.

Pager going off, Dr. Shamez ignored it, before another doctor rushed in "Sir!  Sir! Come check it out!" Dr. Shamez sighed "What is it Dr. Red?" his page continued to go off "The children" Dr. Red started "So many of them are showing improved vitals, we may have to report our findings and make a few calls. This is looking to be a break through in the case!!"

Light and life filled Dr. Shamez's face "Go get em' dad" his son held out his fist for a bump "Okay" Reluctant "Dr.Shamez nodded "Be good for me scamp" he ruffled his son's hair, before rushing out.  leaving his wife incensed "There he goes again!" she tapped her foot in anger "Some things never change."

Yoni mused aloud "If it helps you feel better miss, he left me too." Yoni rubbed his wife's back "Knowing how important you are in helping him get everything done-it does-" Yoni's head snapped to attention, looking to where Dr. Shamez escaped "Oh no!" she took off, sprinting after him "Well, at least my little angel's waken up." she smiled, walking over to catch up her son on previous events.

"Muse.." Isla found her collapsed having just arrived after battle's end "Oh thank god, she's okay." Checking Musera's pulse, Isla's heart leapt once she opened her eyes "Thought you had it all handle?" she joked, carrying Musera bridal style "Hmph." Musera pouted, too tired to speak, but still wanting to speak her mind "Fine then."

Isla smiled wide "You got me there." Musera buried into Isla's chest as if wanting to hide "Muse..." Isla cradled Musera closer "Yeah..that's fine too..." Shirt wet, Isla knew Musera's tears could only mean on thing "Sometimes we can't bring back what's lost, this town will know one day everything you saved, and right now...I do too." Musera wept-too weak for words-and cling even tighter, walking out Mr. Harrison was parked curbside "Miss Lady!" he ran up "She alright!?" Isla frowned

"No, whether it's taking life or saving life-Muse takes it harder than most...she takes it harder than most.." Isla studied Mr. Harrison's face, she could his look of worry was born from love and concern "Seems you two are close, mind if we hitch a ride one last time?" Mr. Harrison looked up, nodding his head "Any time Miss Isla..any time.."

Isla almost dropped Musera in shock "How do you know my name?" Mr. Harrison snickered "Up until a week or two ago Miss Muse was telling me tale of a head strong young lady built like a bull-" Frowning down, Isla swore Musera squeaked "Who happened to be the best friend she's ever had." Isla frown turned upside down upon hearing the rest "Is that so?" Mr. Harrison opened the backseat door, lessening gravity so she'd be easier to lift, Isla set Musera flat "Guess shot gun's all that's left?" Isla looked at Mr. Harrison who tilted his cap "One last stop before calling it a night. Let's be off."

After much fuss getting home, Musera was safe and secure in bed; Isla came downstairs in her favorite cow pajamas with a blanket "How's she doing ?" Yoshino asked  "Physically? She's fine. Emotionally? She's a wreck." Yoshino looked up from his reading "Thinking she could strong arm a siren into reversing spell was an interesting train of thought, at least she prevented others from suffering a similar fate-" At that moment, an alert on their phones went off "Strange, what's that about?" Isla's eye almost popped out "NO WAY!"

Upstairs, Musera was too tired to sleep, too tired to speak, but to her annoyance not too tired to think. Sore and way past exhausted she sat up in bed still wide awake 'I betted on the best of her and used that to seal my victory' she thought back on her bout with Poisoine' 'What does that say about me?' A gust of wind blowed through, she swore it whispered to her having read her thoughts 'That makes you the victor after all..'

Startled, Musera wrapped her arms around herself for comfort "Am I hearing things! Me!?" Walking over, she looked out the window and swore she saw a shadowy figure obscured by trees 'No way! Is that Poisoine'' a shiver went down her spin, then in an eye's blink-it was gone 'Great-' she walked back over, crashing into bed 'Now delirium is setting in..add another on to the list.." eyes wide shut, they shot open, out of nowhere came a chorus of voices.

"Thank you Musera." Tar'quez looked up at the ceiling of his hospital bed.

"Thank You Musera." the Dr. Shamez uttered after finishing a call in his office

"Thank you Musera." a pair of figure uttered walking through the forest.

"Whoever you are...Thank You Musera." Leslie's Mom leaned into her husband's arms in bed , back at home worry free and able to rest.

"Thank You Musera." Tarquez's parents said in unison, resting outside and letting Tar'Quez have time awake to himself.

Musera will be pleased to know so many are doing better...when two warriors fists me...an unspoken bond forms that no can understand."  Yoshino had his nose buried in a book, but found himself unable to get through a page. Isla was laying on the couch under a blanket, staring up "You think if me and him fight, we'll grow to understand each other??" Yoshino coughed "Well, anything's possible....." Isla laughed "Yeah, that purple haired pixie made it out of this whole fiasco so who knows..."

"Leslie. Be sure to cut charge your NoisePods before going to bed." her dad lectured closing the door "Okay!" window open, she walked over, hoping she wouldn't get a return to sender when it came to the message she was about to pour her heart  into. "Musera, thank for saving my best friend, thank for giving me confidence too sing, and thank you for being the awesome hero I expected you to be-I knew you weren't made up, and I'm sorry for doubting that you had my back, I'll be waiting for you to come back!! So..so...COME BACK SOOOOOOONNNNNNNN!!" she shouted that last part with as much voice as she had left.

"I'm going to enter that talent show and I'm...." she sniffled a bit "I'm going to do great! And if you come, I know I'm going to win! So you better be there, Musera" Miles away, someway, somehow, Leslie's message, the message of everyone's heart filled with gratitude made its way "Leslie. Everyone." Tears ran down Musera's face "Thank for believing in a me worth believing in. I'm glad for you I was able to play the hero...I was able to live up to being the star."

"Leslie, are you ready?" life had returned to normal, and it was the day of the talent show "Leslie!" lost in thought, Mrs. Bellheim waved her hand in front of her face "Leslie, are you ready to perform?" she checked, a look of worry on her face "Um...yes." she nodded, nerves having tied her stomach into knots "I felt so wrong pressuring you a fe days ago, you know you don't have to perform right?" Leslie NoisePods were in, and she was listening to her favorite song .."It's fine-Im ready now."  images of a certain person came to mind, a person she hadn't seen in days.

"That flame I was talking about in that story about those pirates-" Ms. Bellheim wiped makeup off of Leslie's nose "It burns within you" she primped Leslie's dress and straightened her hair  "Girl, you better get out there and knock em' dead.Okay?" Mr. Bellheim pretending to dust off Leslie's shoulder nodding in excitement .

"Alright, ladies and gentleman. Our next performer-" Tar'quez was dressed in a maroon suite with black shirt and yellow tie-his father's touch, discharged a day after he recovered he refused to not be at school to support a certain someone "Talk about a diamond in the rough...or maybe I meant hidden gem..." he scratched his head, eliciting laughs and one big groan from the audience "Either way, if this girl gets out her and sings-like I KNOW she can sing- Ladies and gentleman, I  guarantee you won't wanna take your donations back! Now introducing-" Leslie took several deep breaths, time moving at a snail's pace "The  next singing sensation! Not to mention my best friend....Lessliiiieeeeeee!" audience roaring in applause, they whistled upon seeing her ensemble.

Waling out in yellow dress, white linen gloves, and matching shoes, her attire was a mirror image of what Musera wore days earlier; however unlike Musera, her hair was done in cornucopia of cornrows topped with a blue ribbon. Soon the claps and noise came to a stop and  the music started playing "Lisstttten baby..." was all should come muster before being ambushed, anxiety and amnesia kicking in, breathing heavy, her hands broke into cold sweat "Leslie" she heard a voice loud and clear, looking straight to the back, a women with a big white hat, dressed in veil called out to her-no one else seemed to notice "Mus-"

The woman cut her off "You've got this. Who cares who's talking. Who cares who listening. It's just you, music, and what's in your heart and soul to sing. "From the top.." Seeing her stutter to start, Mrs. Bellheim cued the music to play again "Don't worry...I'll help you remember if you forget." the lady assured.

"Listen baby.." Leslie took the microphone with confidence, her voice captivating the audience "Ain't no mountain higgghhh.. ain't no valley lowww-" a voice only she could hear joined in "Ain't no river widddeeeeee...enough baby." Leslie's foot tapped as she belted out stronger "if you need call me" using one of her hands to imitate a phone  "no matter where you are...no matter how far" she sung by herself "Just call my name..." the lady joined again "I'll be there in a hurrryyy...you don't have to worrryy." crowd clapping hands and stomping feet, together their voices were silk and steel, but the audience only needed to hear one "Ain't no mountain higghhhh enough...valley lowwww enough..ain't no river widdeeee ennnough...to keep me from getting to you babbyyy."

Sound filtered so the crowd joined in, still hearing only Leslie on stage singing her song "Remember the day... I set you free.." the lady tapped her foot as she sang, Leslie joining in "I told you can always count on me...darlin'..." Looking up for a second, eyes peaked through veil and Leslie knew, smiling she "From that day on...I made a vow...I'll be there when you want me..someway, somehow..Oh baby-" all together, a melting pot formed, everyone's heart overflowed and burst with joy upon hearing the music.

"Ain't no mountain higghhh enough..ain't no valley lowww enough.. ain't no river widdddeeee enough..." Leslie signaled for the music to be cut "Ain't no mountian higgghhh enoouuggggggg...ain't no valley lowwwww enough...ain't no river widddddeee enough...C'mon!" she urged the crowd to keep clapping on beat and sing along with her "Ain't no mountain higggghhhh enough..ain't no valley lowwwww enough..ain't no river widdeeee enough... to keep met from getting to you baby." Finishing her final run, the crowd wen silent 'NO' Leslie thought to herself, having gone deaf, she couldn't hear a thing, then the knob on the volume was turned.

"Remember Leslie..." looking back into the crowd, the woman was gone "Always believe in yourself.....and if you...can't...believe in others belief in you...." Claps, cheers, filled the auditorium "And don't get too caught up in what may leave, it's what stays that makes tomorrow worth today" Looking down, there here parents were front and center.

Leslie gasped, it was then that she knew "My is love alive, way down in my heart..all though we are miles apart." the voice she heard was fading, but she heard it continue to sing "If you..ever needed a helping hand -" looking to the side, Tar'quez was holding a bouquet of yellow roses ready to give her  in his hands. "I'll be there on the double...just as fast as I can..Don't you know-" Leslie put her hand over her chest knowing-just cause something couldn't be heard-doesn't mean it's not there.
