"That time of year again, huh?"
Clay leaned against the wall he was standing by as he watched the crowd of people cheering. He could barely see who they were cheering at, so he looked up at the inn he was leaning against. There was a trash can against the wall, perhaps accessible to get onto the roof. He climbed onto the bin with ease and pulled himself onto the roof, giving him a clear view of what was happening. He sat back and lost himself in his thoughts.
The star children, or Elementals, as many have began to call them, go around the villages a lot. They seem to rotate around per few years? I'm not sure how this works. Apparently this is their way of finding the last Elemental. You'd think they'd have found them by now. Then again, the signs can take a long time to show up. It took years just to get the white star's mark to show.
His eyes moved over to said individual, who was posing for some pictures as they speak.
Lance Richmond, user of ice. Seems to love his popularity almost as much as his hair. And... very good with kids? Probably an idiot as well.
Lance leaned down to a child and showed them his powers, and their face lit up. Lance seemed to let out a genuine smile, so soft compared to the ones he usually gave. Clay directed his attention to the oldest girl.
Macy Halbert, fire element. Surprised her father has let her roam around this long. Seems to have a lot of male followers, and likes getting messy as shown by the many holes in her jeans, and dirty top. I'd get a smacking if I came back that dirty.
Macy just smiled and waved while striding down the path. A boy wearing headphones almost ran into her as he ran down the side, giving high fives to people.
Aaron Fox, a bit of a wildcard. User of nature, I guess. I'm not too sure how to explain it. He's crazy... also a bit of an idiot. I know these are the people who will save us, but still...
A taller man sighed at Aaron's antics as he walked with the group, strong and sturdy.
Axl, user of earth! I like him, he says things how they are, but has a soft side to him. He... also likes food a lot.
Axl seemed to be on the hunt for snacks. This town wasn't really known for its food. More, being really dull. Finally, two children, not much older than 13, if Clay has to guess, followed them. A boy and a girl, the boy skipping excitedly with the girl following him like a tired mother.
Robin and Ava. Robin is the user of... lighting? Wind? I wish I knew. Ava, the user of, I'm assuming, mind or shadow? She doesn't really share this information... She's the only one who doesn't. Secretive kid.
Clay looked over at them all. They seemed so happy...
"Clay Moorington, what have I told you about sitting on that roof?" Clay almost lost his balance as he looked down. An elderly woman with hair scraped into a messy bun had her hands on her hips, frowning. "Sorry, Miss Hanna."
Miss Hanna sighed. "What will I do with you... Come on, boy, the inn won't run itself!" Clay slid down the roof, landing next to her. She sighed again, smiling fondly. They both went inside to prepare.
~~~
"Ugh! We're not going to find the last Element in a place literally known for being boring! Dnullib is as dull as is gets!" Lance complained to Macy. Macy rolled her eyes. "Lance, we have to search everywhere. The last Element could be anywhere! They could be one of these people here."
"Yeah, but dudes, they only seem to start showing signs when our marks or magic are nearby... how long do you think we'll have to stay here until that happens?" Aaron chipped in suddenly, making Lance jump.
"I'd say around three days or so. We've done this before, Aaron, you should know this by now." Ava sighed, watching as Robin looked like a kid in a candy shop. "Can we just find a place to stay for the night, I think Robin needs to calm down for a bit, plus it's going to get late soon."
"Well, I'm pretty sure there's only one inn in this town." Macy gestured over to said inn. The light was on, and it seemed warm inside.
"Mmm... do you think they have good food?" Axl state's towards the door, almost drooling.
"I'm sure they do, big guy." Aaron chuckled as the group walked towards the inn. The cheers didn't die down as they entered. An elderly lady looked towards them and seemed startled. "Oh! Welcome, dears!"
"Hi!" Macy smiled, walking up to the desk. "We'd like a room for six for three nights, please." She started to reach into her pockets to grab enough money to pay, but the woman stopped her. "Oh, no, honey, it's on the house for the Elementals! Of course!" She turned away to a boy who was sweeping with a small smile.
"Clay! Can you show these young people to room 3 and 4?" She turned back to us after the boy nodded. "I'm afraid you'll have to be split up as we don't have a six room. We have two three rooms next to each other, however." Macy modded, smiling again. "Thank you, miss!"
Clay walked over to them, and gestured them to follow him.
~~~
"Well, breakfast will be served at eight o'clock to nine o'clock. I hope you all have a good nights sleep." Clay smiled as he left the group to their own business. They split up, Aaron, Axl and Robin in room 3, and Ava, Macy and Lance in room 4. Lance complained about being with the girls, but he soon shut up after Ava threatened him.
As they were getting ready to sleep, Macy asked, "You all felt that, right?"
"Yeah, I know what you mean. I felt it too. When we were near that boy, I felt it. What was his name? Clay?" Ava asked, sitting up.
"Heh. He's named after mud." Lance snickered before Macy threw a pillow in his direction. "Hey!" He shouted, muffled. Macy rolled her eyes. "Well, we can just look out and see if we can find that damn last Elemental."
Ava nodded in agreement. "Yep. Well, we better sleep. Night, Macy, Lance."
~~~
Clay lay in his room, thinking. Not about anything in particular, just... thinking. His head wondered to all different thoughts.
He wanted to know one thing though.
Where were his parents?
Yes, Clay was an orphan. He was left at the orphanage when he was a baby with a note saying;
Take care of our son. His name is Clay. We'll be back for him one day. He's our boy, we'll know if he's our boy because of his eyes. Please take care of him as best as you can.
Clay had dull blue eyes with diamond pupils. Different pupils were not uncommon, as Miss Hanna had star pupils, but diamond pupils weren't seen often. He was different to those in Dnullib. He wore gloves for some reason, he had strange eyes, he was completely different to those here.
Miss Hanna wasn't his biological mother. She had taken him in when he was very young, and taken care of him since. She was almost like a mother to him.
Almost.
He had to work with her at the inn, but he would do it because she had taken him from the orphanage, away from those nasty adults and children. It wasn't the greatest time of his life... but he was happy with where he was now.
Clay sighed. Now wasn't the time to be thinking of his life story. He just needed to rest.
His life was about to change completely, after all.
Writing is not a thing I should do at midnight
I made so many mistakes even autocorrect couldn't fix them
I have. A lot of. Crap for this.
Also! The main idea behind this fanfiction isn't mine, it was inspired by a gacha series called Elementals! It's super good and has the same premise but I've switched things up, like there's only four elements in the series but seven here and such, also the plot will be semi different?
