Chapter 10 Part One
Isis
Alarms blared as the power in the facility flickered. Every time it went down it took just a little longer to kick back in. It was only by seconds but that was really all she needed.
When the power flickered off she concentrated focusing on the chains that bound her feet until they slowly began to melt away. By the time the generator finally began to work properly she had burned away her shackles. She stood and began stretching. Suddenly there was the sound of gun shots and then a blast as the door flew back against the wall. Hawke stepped in gun drawn eyes darting around the room.
"Took you long enough." Isis said walking towards him. He twirled one of the guns he held and handed it to her.
She grabbed the gun by the butt and waited as he checked to make sure all was clear. He nodded his head forward and she exited the room gun drawn. She walked cautiously eyes darting around the room as she passed bodies scattered everywhere. They reached an elevator and Hawke checked his watch.
"Ten minutes." He said, as the elevator doors whooshed open.
They stepped in and the doors shut. "Now would be a great time to tell you that we have to take someone with us."
Hawke raised a brow, "Look at you making friends."
Isis rolled her eyes and handed him back the gun, "Serious. They should be meeting us on the way out. You should take this I might need my hands free."
"And who exactly is they?" Hawke asked.
The elevator stopped and binged the doors sliding open. They stood on either side as bullets sprayed into the elevator. They stopped and Isis stepped into the doorway. Three men stood their weapons drawn.
"No need for that." Isis said softly her eyes flashing bright red.
Suddenly the men where lifted into the air and tossed against the wall, knocking them. out. Where they stood was Can who looked thoroughly annoyed and to Isis's surprise a familiar face. Hawke who came to stand next to Cas began to speak but then he too stopped in surprise at just who stood next to Cas, and then his eyes narrowed.
"Get away from her." Hawke growled his gun trained steady.
The girl looked up in surprise and then her eyes widened. To Hawke's surprise the girl stood in front of Cas, her arms spread.
"Hawke?"
"How do you know him?" Hawke and Cas asked in unison.
Isis walked past Hawke and came to stand infront of Danielle and said, "Boys I could've sworn we were on a time limit. Cas?"
Hawke lowered his gun and Cas cast him one last look before leading them through a back tunnel. He opened a large metal door where a black car sat running with Walt leaning against it.
"If you take that road all the way down you will hit a secret roadway that leads to the main interstate. Take care of my car I will be coming for it." Walt said gruffly.
Danielle went to Cas and hugged him tightly. At first he just stood there and then he wrapped his arms around her tight.
"Take care of yourself." He whispered.
"Oh I'm sure if I'm in trouble you'll be there to save me." She whispered back before giving him a peck on the lips. She stood back, her cheeks reddening slightly before running towards the car where Danielle and Hawke waited.
She didn't turn to look back as Hawke speed off, but her lips still burned where they touched his.
Rebel Headquarters
Isis and Danelle
"So....what exactly is this place?" Danielle asked as Isis slid a card down a card reader next to a door. It slid open and Isis led her into a room.
Danielle looked at it with interest. It was twice the size of her bedroom in her apartment. It had a queen sized bed a flat screen TV and a desk and chair. She also noticed a door off to the side of the room that she figured led into a bathroom.
"This my dear is home for you until I figure out what exactly to do with you." Isis said folding her arms over her chest. "How exactly did you end up where you ended up."
"So." Danielle started as she sat down on what she now knew was her bed indefinitely. "You weren't in any altercation a few days ago where you."
"Maybe..."
"Well I was almost a casualty of that fight. Cas saved me, told me to forget about what I saw...."
Isis sighed," Somehow I knew this was all his fault. So let me guess you went digging. You learned too much and they kidnapped you; not killing you because they knew they could use you against him." Isis sighed again, "How the hell am I supposed to explain this to Malone?"
Danielle eyes were wide and Isis turned to see Hawke and Malone behind her.
"Isis," Hawke said, "We should talk, give Malone and Danni some alone time."
Danielle glared at Hawke, "Oh don't pretend you aren't trying to have sex with her on my account Tristan."
Hawke started to speak but Isis waved goodbye at Malone and Danielle before pushing Hawke out of the room.
Malone turned to Danielle, "baby girl I am so sorry you are involved in this."
"I can't leave this place can I?"
Hawke and Isis
Isis stopped pushing Hawke once Danielle's door was closed and immediately began walking in the direction of her room. She opened the door and was surprised when Hawke entered behind her just before the doors closed.
"And what do you think you're doing?" Hawke asked.
Isis raised a brow at him. "Says the one in my room."
"I just mean we should talk."
"I think we should first shower, I need a bath." Isis said as she headed towards her bathroom.
"I could agree..."
Isis turned to him and glared, "Separately."
When Hawke did not leave Isis threw up her hands in exasperation. "You really have to learn how to give a girl her space after your break her heart."
"Isis.." Hawke said moving towards her.
Isis shook her head, "Don't..."
But he didn't stop, instead he wrapped her arms around her and held her tight. She closed her eyes and suddenly tears she didn't know where there began to fall.
"I know what it meant for that to happen."
And she believed him, who would know how she felt better than him. He had seen her captured before, caged. He has been assigned to watch her back then.
"I want to be with you." He said in a low voice, it was soft, gently, "I love you more than I have words to express it. But I can't risk losing you...we can't..."
Isis sighed and stepped away from him. "I have a date with Darrion." Hawke's fist tightened.
"Isis."
It was rough, and there was something dangerous in his voice, possessive.
"Not that I need to explain myself to you.." she didn't know how she did it but she made her voice sound indifferent. "But it'a just one date."
Hawke turned away from her, "Just to be clear if I can't have you."
Isis scoffed and said, "Touché Tristian."
