CHAPTER 12

NIJIKA P.O.V.

"Please leave the boat in the order of your arrival at the bottom of the tower during the third round! An interval of two minutes will separate each candidate leaving the boat!"

I frowned, so I was going on to the island first? Not cool...

"You'll stay on the island for exactly one week!! That's when you need to get the six points, before the one week ends you must come back here in front of this boat." The lady guide explained with a happy smile.

I stood in front of Hisoka with a frown. I looked back and gave my group of friends a small smile and wave, "Good luck guys!"

They waved back and nodded as well.

"Departure of the first candidate!" The lady yelled. I sighed and lazily walked onto the island feeling for any pressure. I let out a sigh of relief when I felt no danger from large animals.

I jumped into a tree and waited there until a person came. I smiled when Hisoka came as he shuffled his card. I dropped out of my tree landing in front of him.

"Can I travel with you Hisoka?" I questioned with a closed eye smile. He honestly looked surprised at my question but smiled.

"Walk, the other will be coming," I happily trotted next to him humming, "Did you decide to come with me because of Gon?" He questioned.

"Ah, so you already know Gon is targeting you?" I questioned as I ran ahead before twirling around.

"His expression is too easy to read."

I nodded, "Yeah, he's still pretty innocent, but that's not the only reason why."

"Hm?"

I flip into the air and grabbed a tree vine and swung on it, "My target is number 80, and she seems to be targeting Illumi-San. And it's very likely that Illumi-San would end of killing her when she tried to get his tag. But he'll also go after his own target, so he'll end up with 7 points." I smile calculating all my plans, "Which means he'll have one extra point. And since you're close to him he'll probably end up giving you the extra point, which is my target."

I grin as I hang upside down from my vine playing with it, "My, you really do think ahead." Hisoka chuckled as he pulled me off the green plant and placed me on the ground.

"I also know you'll probably end of giving Gon your tag if he fights well against you."

"Oh? Why do you think that?" Hisoka questioned his eyebrows raised, though I could hear the amusement laced in his words.

"You've taken a liking to Gon and I, I'm not sure if I'm correct or not but you most likely want us to get stronger so we'll become good fighting opponents in the future." I explain as I stared up at the tall man, "You're the one watering us so we'll bloom into a flower worth buying."

A large grin appeared on his face as he chuckled, "Oh my, you really are a clever one, you even know my future plans."

I shrug, "Because I know your plans I'm able to stand next to you, if I didn't I would be too terrified to, but knowing you want to fight me in the future I also know you won't try to kill me just yet."

Hisoka laughed and patted me on the head, "Oh just thinking about the battle with you and Gon excite me! Though I'm sure I won't kill you two, it'll be too much of a waste!"

I sighed I hope he was telling the truth, "Let's go before we attract too much attention, I can already feel the jury assigned to us watching all of our movements." I grumbled and eyed the tree.

At the corner of my eye I saw a flash of lavender, and I don't believe lavender hair is that common, and I only met one person with lavender hair before. Satotsu-San, was he assigned to be my jury for this stage?

I followed Hisoka and he sat against a tree. I sighed and followed his action and sat in front of him. How long was he going to stay here?

>>TIME SKIPS TO DAY THREE>>

As I played at the river nearby catching fish for Hisoka and I, I felt a presence hiding in a bush nearby.

"Hm, I wonder who?" I question and without moving I made the bush catch on fire.

"ARGH!!!! ?! Help! Help!" It was one of the Amori brothers.

"Tell me your number," I calmly state as I make the fire surround him. I cross my arm I front of my chest and looked at him uninterested.

"N-Never!"

I smirked sadistically, "Oh, alright. Then I'll just make the flame burn you alive." I tease and make the ring of fire smaller making him look horrified.

"Number 198!"

"Hm, am I your target?" I question looking at my nails as if they were dirty.

"Y-Yes!" He screamed as the fire start to lit his pants.

"Oh ok, I'll save you if you give me your tag and leave me alone." I bargained as I smiled at him innocently.

"What?! I-I I'll never do that!" He screamed. I frowned and snapped my fingers making the flame crawl up his leg, I made him feel the heat but not physically hurt him, "Oh too bad, then I'm going to burn you alive, and I thought you'll treasure your life and retake the exam next year!" I taunt feeding him the bait.

I slightly started to feel bad as his eyes started to water his lips trembling.

"B-Brothers!!!" He wailed.

Silence....

I smiled now feeling really bad for him, did his siblings abandoned him? He too seemed to realize and started to sob.

"You know I dislike killing, I'll let you go back to your brother if you just give me your number." I softly say trying to persuade him.

He finally nodded and took off his number and threw it at me, I easily caught it in the air and snapped my fingers. The fire immediately died out making the poor guy fall on his butt. I eyed his burned clothes before digging inside my bag.

"Here rub this ointment on any of your burns, it'll heal." I say as I dip my finger into the jar and putting a large clump on his hand.

"W-Why?" He stuttered and looked at me in confusion.

I smiled at him friendly, "Like I said I dislike killing, and I injured you. I'm sorry but I need it for your badge, good luck next time." I say before standing up.

I walk back to where I was catching fish and grab the string where I attached the fish I caught. I quickly run back to where Hisoka was sitting and sigh. He still sat at the same spot.

I walked into the empty clearing but froze before letting out a breath I unconsciously held in.

Gon, so he came. I looked at the bush were he hid, I could tell it was Gon from his presence.

Ignoring his sharp intake when he sees me I walk to Hisoka holding out my hunt.

"Hungry?" I question as I start to gut the fish.

He smiled at me and continue sitting against the tree. Knowing he was hungry I started a small fire to cook the fish. Because of my power I didn't need wood so the only thing I needed was a stick to use to roast the fish.

As I was taking the scale off I felt a new presence near Gon. I frowned as I smelled blood, a large amount of blood.

"Come on, show yourself." Hisoka's voice was sickly sweet, "There's somebody, isn't there?" Hisoka questioned out loud, when he got no answer he chuckled standing up, "If you won't come to me, I'll come for you."

Gon you better not come out, he isn't talking about you! I mentally pray as I continue to nonchalantly cook the fish over the fire.

At the corner of my eyes I watch Hisoka approach where Gon was hiding. But let out a sigh when another man jumped out of the bush. Number 371, a middle aged man with a spear.

He suddenly lashed out his spear and I sucked a breath in fear seeing how close he was from hitting Gon. Hisoka also seemed aware of Gon's presence narrowed his eyes slightly angered that his prey was almost injured.

"Let's play a game," number 371 muttered as he swung his spear around.

"Your going to die," Hisoka stated in a bored tone.

Number 371 charged towards Hisoka swinging his spear like a mad man. I ducked with a gasp as his spear sliced above my head and hit the tree Hisoka was leaning against earlier.

"Hey!" I angrily cry and shake my fist at the guy, "If you're going to battle do it somewhere away from here! I'm trying to cook!" I grunt and sit back down and twirl the fish on the stick.

I watched with slight sympathy towards the guy. Hisoka was only dodging his attacks.

"Hi-So-Ka!" The guy panted as he gripped his spear tightly, "Why aren't you fighting!" He angrily questioned sweating heavily.

Hisoka just stared at the man while twirling a lock of his red hair, "Going on this way, you just end of dying anyways, there is no point on fighting. The high number of the butterfly that are here for your blood proves it."

"No..." I watch with pity as the guy fell down to his knee still holding his spear.

"I suppose somebody already inflicted a grave sending injury on you, and I understand you would like to die worthily like the warrior you are but..." Hisoka paused as he stared at the guy.

The man started to tremble, "You..." He growled out, "You understand yet, despite this, YOU DON'T WANT TO FIGHT AGAINST ME!!!!" The man yelled in a pained scream.

Hisoka chuckled seeming to enjoy the man's agony, "Me... The dead doesn't interest me<3." Hisoka gave the man a full blown smile, "Because you don't have any life left in your eyes..." Hisoka sat down on the tree stump next to me, "Bye Bye!"

The look of agony was all over the man'a face, "No... No... NOOOOOOOO!!!" He screamed and lung forward with a battle cry.

I just continued to poke at the fishes I was cooking not bothering to protect myself from the man. I knew Hisoka will probably protect me. But I snapped my head up as a new strong presence came from behind us. Before I could even blink multiple pins came flying and hit number 371 all over his face. The man slumped onto the ground before falling over with a thump, dead.

"Sorry!" A familiar voice chirped, I turned around and smiled as Illumi came walking out of the bushes in his Gittarackur form. In his hands he had multiple pins, "I relaxed my attention a short time ago, and he escaped from me."

Hisoka smiled at Illumi, "Lies." I couldn't help but giggle, Hisoka was right, nothing Illumi said sounded sincere, "I'm confident that he implored you, 'Please, I'm gonna die, listen to my dying wish'. When are you going to stop being interested in enemies that aren't worth the trouble? You should be more like me and find a opponent worth your time," Hisoka eyed me making me scowl.

"I'm not for entertainment." I grumbled as I bit into a fish. While throwing one at Hisoka who caught it in the air.

Illumi laughed, "But it's necessary to understand him! Anyhow he was dying. But Hisoka you also have the same problem, letting an adversary go away voluntarily."

Hisoka bit into his fish chewing, "Yes, but I choose them consciously, I only let people live when I estimate that an untimely death is a mess, by the way, what about the sheet?"

Illumi pulled out the sheet that the number 371 in it, "With this I have six points," but then he suddenly pulled out another sheet, "So this one was useless, I'll give it to you!"

I jumped up and cheered when I saw the number, "Hisoka! I told you he would kill her!"

Hisoka chuckled at my action and took the tag from Illumi, "Who said I'll give it to you?"

I pouted, "I'll make you a trade, I have this," I pulled out the tag 198 I got from one of the brothers, "They both mean one point to you, trade?"

Hisoka's eyes slightly widen, "Actually that's the number I'm assigned to."

I gaped, "Seriously? Then let's trade! Please Hisoka!"

He threw the tag at me in amazing speed but I caught it between my fingers before it hit my body, "Sheesh, you could've just handed to me." I grumbled as I looked at the number, yay! I got my number 80, so I have six points, "Thanks Hisoka, here your tag," I say handing him number 198. How lucky am I?

I pulled out another fish out of my fire, "Would you like one?" I question Illumi handing it to him. He nodded and took the fish off the stick before putting the whole thing in his mouth and swallowing.

"Wow."

Illumi ignored my astonishment and started pulling out the pins out of his face. I watched in disgust while Hisoka chuckled.

"I can't grow tired of this!" He laughed as he ate his fish. As I watched Illumi's face disarrange I felt my appetite disappear.

"Here, you can have my fish," I grumbled at handed my stick to Hisoka who laughed at my reaction.

"Ah... I feel better." Illumi sighed, his normal stoic face back in place. With wide eye I watched Illumi start to dig a hole. He then jumped into the hole and poked his out and looked at Hisoka and me, "Well, I'm gonna sleep 'til the end of the week, good luck!" I watched in fascination as he covered dirt on himself and disappearing into the ground.

"Wow, that's pretty neat." I chirp as I eye the dirt before looking at Hisoka, "What are you going to do?"

Hisoka smiled and stood up, "I currently have 6 points but I'll likely be loosing 3 points soon," I knew he was talking about Gon, "I'll just to go hunt for three more points. What are you going to do Chibi-chan?"

I placed both of my hands on the back of my head, "I'll head back to the boat and wait there until the end of week, I don't expect anyone to attack me anymore," I then harden my eyes, "Just don't hurt Gon too much, you understand?" I whispered making sure the boy himself couldn't hear.

Hisoka smiled, "Oh, kowai, kowai (scary, scary) just like a mama bear!" He laughed and walked off waving at me.

I sighed and walked near Gon's bush, "Good luck Gon," I whispered and met his shocked look. He gave me a determined nod before bouncing off to where Hisoka walked to.

My work here is done, I yawned before stretched my limb, "Better get back to the boat." I mumbled and jumped and grasped onto a branch. I swung through the trees using the branches.
