Attack on Monk Island
It took about twenty minutes to completely explain the situation we were in to Taisuke. While everyone else was busy explaining, a monk with an ability similar to Amy's started to heal me, though his appeared to be a weaker form and less taxing on the body. My arms still hurt, but at least I could still move around well enough. After he was done healing me I thanked him and headed to where the others were still discussing everything with Taisuke. Marquel had me come over to him.
"Yo?" I asked him while he lead me away from the others.
"Where yo' bird at?" he questioned.
When I summoned Raven, the bird would rest on my shoulder. Marquel nodded when he saw the bird. "Riley bird turned to him for a minute."
Well that would explain why I was taken over so easily. Raven disappeared and I headed to the others with Marquel behind me. "I don't know how she did that but we gotta make sure that don't happen again," he stated.
"Yeah, I don't know what happened when I got taken over, but I couldn't do, see, or feel anything," I said, opening up the door. When we stepped inside Taisuke would glance over at me.
"Are you purified or do you want to attack me again?" he asked me, accepting a tea pot given to him by a monk. "If it's the second one then we can fight later."
"Nah I'm good now," I answered as I took a seat beside him
He nodded and sipped his tea before setting it down to cool. He looked up at Caleb, who I assumed he thought was our de facto leader, and leaned forward. "I'm still undecided whether I want to help you or not. I don't know who this M.A.D. person is, but if he is as powerful as you say he is then I'm not sure he'll be much help. Besides I haven't been attacked yet and would like to keep it that way."
"Can you at least try to help?" I asked him. "I don't know if you've ever seen Ren right, but you're probably stronger than him. At least you seem like you have better control over your power than he does."
"Anyone can master chi, it isn't that difficult," Taisuke muttered. "It's just another form of chakra and I'm positive you all know what chakra is right?"
"Yeah, Tai taught us a while ago, back when Jaxson was still around," I answered.
"I don't know who either of those people are," he mumbled. "You can all learn chi, it's not some ability me and my dad were born with. Chi is the thing that lives within all things. It's what keep us all moving, my dad and me just learned how to harness it."
"That explanation sounds exactly like what Tai told us chakra is," I said.
"Like I said, they're one of the same. Anyway, you all have mastery over your elements and that clearly wasn't enough, I'm not sure what you thought I would be able to do."
"Are you sure you can't try?" Caleb asked, only to get a nod as response.
"Anyway if that's over with, you're all welcome to stay here for a few more hours until your little friend is completely healed," Taisuke said as he stood up, taking the teapot with him. "If you need me I'll be in my room. The monks can help you with whatever you need."
As he left I would sigh before starting to head outside with the others. Well if he wasn't going to help, there was no point in staying here. We just had to wait for Chase to wake up and then we could go. As a shadow passed over us I would blink and look up. I'm pretty sure it wasn't supposed to rain. My eyes widened when I saw what caused the shadow and I immediately formed a shield of darkness above us. Marquel, Jasper, Caleb, and Dusty formed their own shields to add to mine. The volley of grass blades fell upon our shields and broke apart while the rest would strike all around the monastery grounds. When the attack finally ended we dropped our shields and watched as Riley landed in front of us, her bird leaving her body and perching on her shoulder. A flash of lightning came down to strike beside her before Electra appeared, her eyes giving off an eerie, red glow. As Echo came down from his dragon, sharing the same red eyes as Electra, I started to wonder if Riley's bird had come here to report us back to M.A.D.
"Seems you were right Angie," Riley stated as she smiled at us, though her smile seemed more crazed than usual. "Guess this'll make up for you not taking over the shadow boy. I wonder if that disgusting clone of mine will cry once you all die. Well, she'll be meeting you all soon so she won't have time to cry. Anyway, if you all surrender now I'll make your deaths much quicker and less painful."
Nobody responded to her and Dusty immediately pulled out his daggers. As he went to attack Riley, a warrior of grass came up from the ground and used its body to block Riley from the attack. The sound of thunder filled the area as Electra's body started to become a glow with lightning. Her hair stood up and lightning strikes began raining down, striking a random area every time. Raiden lifted his hands in the air to direct the lightning toward himself while Echo ran off. Zygon entered his dragon stage and followed after him. Marquel and I pulled out our weapons and started closing the distance between ourselves and Riley. I spun my bo staff and tried to strike her in the chin, though I was really trying to create an opening for Marquel. As she bounced back to avoid my attack, Marquel would deliver a sharp kick to her back. She was thrown towards Jasper who immediately caught her and encased her body in ice, leaving her head free so she could breathe. Caleb would trap Electra as he opened up a hole in the ground, closing it and opening small holes on the top so she could breathe.
"While Zygon goes to stop Echo, how about you tell us where M.A.D. is?" I told Riley, stepping up to her. I raised an eyebrow as her eyes started to glow before I looked around, feeling the ground rumble. More grass warriors began rising from the ground, soon surrounding us.
"Okay so that didn't work," Violet stated and revealed her knife fans. "Good thing I'm not really here. The real me is currently letting Taisuke know what's going on. The rest of you can handle these grass bastards right?"
Violet then faded away and I now realized she had been an illusion the whole time. Well at least she was finally using her element more.
Taisuke's POV
I set my empty teacup down as I heard a commotion going on outside. I sensed three new people had arrived at the island. One of them was coming towards me, followed by one of the dragon ninja, while the other were outside. As I approached my door I would spin around and deliver a kick, knocking off the head of a warrior that had appeared behind me. I inspected him and determined he was a warrior made of grass, and no soul was present within him.Well that was odd. The sound of footsteps approached my room and I quickly left it, looking down both ends of the hall to see Violet running towards me. She swung her fans in an arc, the knives that they were made quickly flying through the air. They zipped past me and headed towards a child I had never seen before. The boy twirled, using a blade to defend himself before continuing on his path towards me. Zygon was right behind him so I assumed he wasn't here to help. As the boy approached me I would avoid his sword and reached a hand towards him, pressing my palm into his chest. A surge of energy filled my hand as I released a blast of chi through him, launching him into a wall. Zygon landed and returned to his human form while Violet collected her knives.
"And who might this be?" I questioned as I stood over the unconscious child. Seemed I was becoming good at attacking children today.
"Echo," Violet answered while lifting the boy up, setting him against the wall. "Can you do that thing you did to Martel and Marquel earlier? Echo's being controlled right now, and so is another girl who the others are dealing with right now."
As I began my purification technique I pointed towards the hallway. "Is that the girl you were talking about or is she normally that malevolent?"
Before I got my answer, Zygon would launch a violet colored ball of fire towards the direction I had pointed. When I looked over I would see a girl about the same age as Echo smiling at us. Blades of grass began appearing from thin air before they shaped themselves like swords. Well that was interesting. Zygon formed a blazing shield above us as the grass blades began falling towards us, burning up once they touched the shield. Violet spun into a purple vortex of power and launched herself towards the girl. When she connected with her, she was pulled into the tornado before being thrown across the hall. Violet stopped spinning and I watched as the girl was thrown across the hall.
"This one is back to normal, now tell me, who was that?" I asked.
"That was Riley," Violet answered. "Or as Aaralyn calls her, the crazy evil girl. The other one you need to purify is still outside I think."
I nodded and got to my feet, stretching my arms and legs as I did. "You all might want to duck. The crazy one just sent a thousand grass blades our way." Almost on cue, the blades started making their way towards us, cutting through the air as they did. I gathered chi in front of me and created a wall of energy to protect myself.
When Violet was struck by the blades her body disappeared and I raised an eyebrow. Had she been apart of my imagination? I found that to be false when Zygon gave the same confused look, though he quickly began slashing away at the grass with his sword, sending waves of fire from the blade. The walls and floor started to slowly become covered in grass while those same warriors from earlier clawed their way out of the ground. Zygon shifted into his dragon stage and charged up a fireball in his mouth. When he unleashed the blazing attack, a blast of fire would clear away the warriors in front of us, though the grass continued to grow where it had been burned. When the grass began surrounding us, we would hurry away from that area and I began leading him to where the silver haired child was resting. I stopped when I felt Violet's energy and figured she was going to help him.
"We need to leave this place," I said. "Gather the monks and lead them outside. They are unable to defend themselves against any powered individuals so I need you to protect them. I'll keep Riley preoccupied."
"Got it," Zygon nodded and flew off in the other direction as I ran back to where we had left.
I hurled an orb made of through the air and watched as it collided with a grass blade in mid air. As I got into a fighting stance, Riley would approach me, the child from earlier following close behind due to being entangled by her grass.
"You know I don't think my master ever said anything about you," she said while pulling out a sword. The way she held it gave away that she either didn't know the blade was dangerous, or she knew but didn't care about accidentally getting hurt by it. "I wonder what my reward will be if I kill you. Maybe he'll finally let me have my own army of pawns to control. Or he might let me finally take this idiot's place."
As she said that she would point the blade at Echo's unconscious form. "Oh you lucky little boy. How come you get to talk about his plans with him but I don't? If you were gone I would have already been his second in command by now, but for some reason he thinks you're special even after trying to betray him."
Did she realize she was talking to herself right now? I didn't interrupt her though, noticing the growth of the grass had paused when she had started to go on her tangent.
"I bet you didn't think anyone else could hear you when you talked about your plan to your idiot sister," she continued. "I told master, but he didn't believe that you and Takalyn would ever betray him. But of course he didn't, you're all part of his plan after all. You and your sister her special treatment, so be grateful for that, I might have already killed you if it wasn't for that one reason."
When she turned back to look at me she would let out an exasperated sigh, rolling her eyes as she did. "Oh right...you're here. Thank you for having a new place for my master to conquer. He's already at war with the elfin domain, but once that's over he'll finally be able to conquer the realm of Ninjago. If you come quietly I'll make sure to kill you quickly, so please just die. I really don't want to fight anyone besides my clone right now."
"I'm sorry to inform you, but you attacked my island so I have no choice but to fight you," I stated and summoned balls of chi around myself. I took a deep breath to relax my breathing and clear my mind before punching the air in front of me, firing one of the chi balls at Riley.
Riley would dodge the attack and made a grabbing motion. I created a blade of chi around my hand and slashed at hand made of grass that had come towards me, cutting it apart. The chi balls around me all fired upon the child though she ended up dodging most of them, the last hitting her square in the chest. As she was flung back by the blast I summoned more balls of chi and had them encircle her.
"Why are you here?" I demanded.
"I already told you, this island is being prepared to be conquered," Riley stated, getting up from the ground as she did. The chi orbs started closing around her but she didn't worry about them. "In about four days my master will have taken control of the entirety of Ninjago and there's nothing you can do to stop it."
I went to respond to that but stopped as the sound of thunder filled my ears. Was it raining outside? The thought left me as a lightning bolt struck through my roof, distracting me long enough for the chi orbs to disappear. While the hole left by the lightning caught fire, a girl with black hair and glowing red eyes would stare at me, lightning bouncing off of her body. Balls of electricity spawned within the hall and I figured this must've been who Zygon and Violet had been talking about. The child from earlier, I'm sure Violet referred to him as Echo, soon woke up and blinked a few times. His teal colored eyes fixed into a glare as he spotted Riley and an eruption of sound vibrated through the air before he was freed from the grass. "Where am I? Why are you here? Why are Electra's eyes red? Where's Taka? And who's the kung fu master?"
"Good guess," I muttered and summoned spheres of chi. "I'm not sure I can answer your other questions but my name is Taisuke and you are currently invading my island along with this other child."
"Oh great you're finally awake," Riley groaned. "Why can't things just go my way for once this year? I've been captured by the ninja, been replaced as second in command by you, had all of my bones broken, and I've been beaten by my hideous clone. When my master finally takes over this land you'll be sorry you all got in my way."
Echo grumbled and took out a sword with musical notes on it. He swung the weapon at Riley and a sound wave ripped through the hall and hit her. As she was knocked off of her feet, the lightning girl from before would send the lightning balls flying towards me. I evaded them and began hurrying towards her while Echo tried to attack Riley. As I approached the lightning girl, she fired a blast upon me which I blocked with a shield made of chi. I turned that shield into a blast of my own and attacked the girl. She immediately rolled under the blast and I pressed my palm to her chest. As I once again used my purification technique, her eyes would turn from red to blue and she stared at me in confusion.
"Who are you? Where am I?" she asked.
"As I've told your friend, I am Taisuke and you're invading my island," I answered while helping her to her feet.
"My friend?" she questioned and looked over to spot Echo and Riley still fighting. She growled and unleashed a powerful blast of electricity at Riley.
The grass child pushed Echo away from her and brought her hands down on the floor, sending up several blades of grass to form a shield around her. She defended against the attack and grumbled. "I'm getting really tired of all of you." She snapped her fingers and Echo and the other girl ceased their movement, though they did their best to try and fight against it.
"Not this again, I am not being controlled," Echo struggled, his arms starting to glow with a teal light.
"Unfortunately for you, you don't have a choice," Riley replied while her eyes flashed. "Once you've fallen under my hypnosis there's no escaping it. You may be able to regain control over your body, but that's only temporary. You'll always come back to my control."
I suppose that made my purification technique useless against her hypnosis. That would explain while the malevolence within them hadn't disappeared yet. "Then how come my sister can't be controlled by you?" Echo groaned.
"Clearly she's stronger than the three of you," Riley shrugged. "Though plant boy is rather strong too. He hasn't yet fallen under my hypnosis again. Though I suppose he's the elemental of nature, if anyone found out a way to escape hypnosis it'd be him or someone with the element of mind."
Echo and the other girl soon were able to move again as their eyes returned their red color from before. They weren't as powerful as the dragon ninja so this would be relatively easy. I launched myself at them, going for Riley first since she appeared to be the one controlling them. Echo quickly defended Riley, stepping in front of me to block the punch I had sent out. The dark haired girl gathered electricity in her hands and sent several lightning balls at me. While she did, Echo would fire elemental slashes from his blade. I managed to dodge the slashes and destroyed the lightning balls by shooting chi blasts at them.
Riley waved at me as she began walking off. "Have fun with them. I have a few ninja to capture."
I wasn't sure how she would manage to capture the others, but I wasn't going to let her leave this area. My body filled with energy and I released a blast of chi, the power rippling through the two of them and burning the grass around us. As they fell to the ground I would punch the ground, sending a shockwave of chi through it which caused Riley to fall where she stood.
Kai's POV
"Aren't they taking a while?" I asked as I paced the room. "It shouldn't take this long for someone to say yes or no."
"I agree," Kyle added. "And I already know what's going on. We need to hurry to Taisuke's island, they're all being attacked by Riley, Echo, and Electra."
"Who's Taisuke?" Jay asked, though he didn't get an answer as Kyle ran to tell the others.
Cole and Zane would collect their weapons while I handed Jay his nunchucks. "Can you fight now lightning mouth?"
"Amy healed me, but it took a lot out of me," Jay answered. "I won't be able to help you, but you can take Roger with you. I'm sure he'll be able to help you."
I nodded and picked up my sword, looking over at Tai. "Can you stay here with Jay and the kids? I don't want them getting attacked without any supervision."
"No need to worry brother," Tai said. "While you are gone, the rest of us will defend this area. You forget Caleb's students are well equipped to fight anyone who comes here, as long as they aren't M.A.D. And we have Zavok the destroyer on our side now. I'm not sure how powerful he is, but if what you said is true, he'll be a useful help."
I nodded and left the room, heading to where the others were waiting for me. Lloyd looked over at me and handed over a glowing orb. "It's from Shira. She said to use it if we get in trouble."
"You are all welcome to stay in the elfin domain if you need to," she said, still looking upset about her earlier failure. "Or....I suppose it would be better to stay away from my home seeing as I failed to protect the very people I sought to."
It seemed I wasn't the only one who didn't know how to cheer up the elf, so we all simply patted her back before stepping outside. Kyle waited for one of us to summon our dragons before we all took to the skies, the twins of glass following us with a two handed dragon that was see through.
"When did you all manage to summon a dragon?" I asked them.
"We've been practicing," Kyto grinned. "Also our ships have been destroyed by M.A.D. but it is a price to pay to aid our friends. Now let us move on to aid them once more."
And so we all flew off in search of them, using Zane to try and locate them.
Martel's POV
The last of the grass warriors outside were finally all defeated and I turned to my teammates. We had managed to gather all of the monks, well the ones that were still alive, and were currently keeping them from being attacked. "We need to go help Taisuke. I'm not sure if he can take on the three of them at once."
Violet set Chase down and disappeared. Was she still using illusions?
"I'm sure Taisuke's fine, he was able to hold off all of us after all," Caleb said. "But you're right, we should go back to help capture them. Also I'm not sure if any of you has noticed, but Violet isn't here."
"Wait she ain't here? Bro since when?" Marquel asked.
"She kept making illusions of herself," Dusty said and began running towards the monastery. "She's probably inside somewhere. If so then she could be helping Taisuke." Dusty then destroyed the door with a tan colored fireball and lead all of us inside.
I closed my eyes as I entered my violent stare and opened them again, trying to find Taisuke and Violet. "Alright so two things. First thing is, I know where Taisuke is. Second thing, there are so many clones of Violet running around. The real one is still in the sky. I don't think she ever came down with us."
The others followed me as I began leading us towards Taisuke, the entire monastery being covered in grass at this point. As a wall of grass blocked our way, Dusty would cut through it. We soon approached Taisuke who was fighting Riley, Echo, and Electra all at once. Marquel closed his hand into a fist as energy crackled between his finger. Taisuke's attackers soon stopped moving as they were held down by gravity and I hurried over to the chi master.
"Sorry we took so long, are you okay?" I asked.
Taisuke nodded. "I'm just fine. They provided no challenge, in fact they were weaker than the seven of you. I'm surprised they weren't already taken in by you."
"Well we captured them before but they escaped," I admitted.
Zygon looked over at Echo and raised an eyebrow. "I thought you purified him?"
"I did but the grass girl, her name was Riley right, she said that her hypnosis wasn't able to be broken unless you happened to control the power of the mind," Taisuke answered. "She also said another of your friends was able to escape it due to being the nature elemental."
"Oh she means Justin," I responded. "I guess nature is stronger than grass. And anyone with mind would be able to break mind control. Well now that they're taken care of we can leave."
I then heard Riley's voice and turned to her, noticing her bird had appeared. I tried to use my powers to stop the bird, but it quickly went inside of the grass child and she broke free of Marquel's gravity hold. Grass wings sprouted from her back as she turned to us with a wicked smile. "Looks like I have you right where I want you. Stand down now and I won't be forced to end your pitiful lives."
Raven appeared before me and immediately entered Riley's body, much to my surprise. When he exited her body, her bird would follow after and the two of them began flying through the air, attacking each other as they broke through the ceiling. Riley groaned before taking a seat on the ground. "Goodbye ninja."
And just like that, a portal appeared underneath all of our feet, swallowing everyone besides Taisuke.
No one's POV
As the ninja arrived at Taisuke's island, they would spot Violet who landed beside them, panting as she did. Cole quickly ran over to her as he dissolved his dragon. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," she muttered. "The others are gone though. I don't know where, but Riley got all of them besides Taisuke. Chase is on the other side along with a few monks and Taisuke himself."
"I'm guessing Taisuke is the person they were supposed to be recruiting," Kai stated while starting to head around the area. "Let's go meet him for ourselves."
