Shoppping

The weekend was a bust. Dara had gotten the score I had predicted.
"See you tomorrow. I'll text you when you should pick me up," my sister said to my mom. She was going to her friend's house. Thanks for rubbing it in.

"Hey, Ember. How's it going?" Mom asked me as I lay on my bed in my room.
"Bor- Fine. I'm fine," I say quickly. If you say anything about being bored to my mom, she will make you do chores.
"How about we go shopping?" she asked.
"Ok," I replied. Maybe this weekend won't be so bad.

*******

It happened after walking out of the first store we shopped in. I walked by a boy walking next to who I assume is his father. The boy was wearing a striped shirt, baseball cap, and cacky shorts.

My veins started to buzz... I couldn't focus...

"Hi. We are here to tell you about our air conditioning system. May we come in?" the men in tuxedos and sunglasses asked at the front door.
"Uhh, sure," the mother replied.

No one else was in that room. No one was there to witness. With a swift move of his hand, one of the men grabbed a gun from it's hidden holster and shot the mom in the neck. Where she was shot was flashing with a slow white light.

There was no blood. This cannot be a normal gun.

The boy was in his room watching the baseball game. The men charged in and shot him immediately. There was no blood... No witnesses... But me.

When I came back to reality my mom was talking to me as we walked.
"So then I said..." that was pretty much all I heard. That boy... His mother... The rest of his family... Those men... The gun... It was all to much.

"Can we sit down for a sec?" I ask Mom.
"Uh, sure," she said and we sat down.

My Visions mean nothing. This has never happened before. This involves most likely death. Murder. But no one knows about my Visions. I cannot tell anyone. But I need to tell someone.

No one would believe me. Everyone will think I'm crazy. I would think I'm crazy. There is no stopping the future... But I am the only witness. The only one who knows what actually happened. Will happen. That boy walking around the mall will face a horrible fate and he will be clueless.

Just a boy watching baseball suddenly becomes a boy shoot with some weird gun thing by these random men in suits. Unless they aren't random. For all I know, those men are that boy's best friends.

But why? Why do that?

"Are you ready?" Mom asked.
"Yeah," I said.

The rest of the time at the mall wasn't the same. It just got worse.

It was farther on in the shopping day. This time it was a girl. Maybe in first grade or so...

The Men were in a small room with the girl. She was laying on a metal table. Eyes closed. There was a wire connected to her head. The wire connected to a very high-tech looking equipment.

"Well? What is she?" one of The Men said.
"Elemental," the other one said, a smile forming on his lips.

"What can she do?" the other man asked.
"She can read minds," the second man replied, a full-on smirk on his face.
"That is very use full. She is important," the last man said...

"I have to go to the bathroom." Now I'm in the stall. Not crying. Not thinking. Not doing anything. Just sitting.

Calm down, calm down. I'm sure this is normal. I bet if you asked anyone at your school, they would say that this has happened to them. It's not working. I can't lie to myself and believe it.

In corner of my mind,I know I will have to leave this stall. To figure everything out. But not now. Now is Do Nothing Time. Then, shortly followed, Panic Attack Time. Right now I'm in the latter.

"Ember? Honey, are you okay?" my mom's voice floats through the air.
"Yeah, almost ready," I say weakly.

One last store. Then pretzels(which I don't eat). Then car. Then home. Then bed. That is the last of my memory of that day.

I vaguely remember sleeping. Not the slumber, wake me up when it's Friday kind of sleep. This was the hardly no sleep that comes with bad dreams kind. I remember little bits of my dream...

The boy... The mom... The girl... Their family... My family... Dara... Everyone. Gone. In that room with those men with those flashing lights in their neck and a wire in their head.
