Fixing Things Up

●○●○● (Y/N) POV ○●○●○

Flame and I finally caught up with Wade as I noticed that Flame let go of my hand. When we held hands, it did kind of hurt, but...it felt nice, in a not weird way. I decided not to focus on that and just focus on the mission and the game!

As we entered the Cyclone Stadium as Wade and my smiles widened brightly. We were so excited.

"Where is she?" Flame asked, pulling down his hood.

Wade and I looked around for Wade's boss as Wade spotted her, "Up there, in that sky box!" Wade smiled as his attention went directly back to the game.

Flame and I looked at how mad she looked, thunder coursing through her. We looked nervously at each other, "Okay...time to cancel some tickets!" I heard Flame muttered under his breath.

Flame stood there and stared at the water elements in his path, "Come on! This way!" I smiled and followed Wade to our seats.

Flame followed behind us, "Excuse me!" I turned to see how different Wade and Flame were.

Wade was friendly with everyone, while Flame seemed to be a nervous wreck here. It was so funny to see that when I made it past, I let out a small laugh.

"Hi Gale, how are you doing?" Wade asked with a smile.

Gale groaned, "Look at the score. What do YOU think?" She grumbled, "BLOW THE BALL NOT THE GAME!" Gale yelled towards the players.

We looked at the scoreboard to see the Windbreakers losing. What? That's impossible!

Flame let out a huff, "Yeah...so...uhh. Gale?" Flame seemed more nervous, "My name is Flame Lumen!" Flame chuckled nervously, "My family runs a Fire Shop... Wade wrote us a BUNCH of tickets yesterday..." He was interrupted by Gale yelling at the players again.

"WHAT KIND OF CALL WAS THAT?" She groaned, "Lumen? Yeah, it's a fire shop with 30 citations.." She waved Flame off.

'30!' I shot a look at Wade, who was looking away nervously.

"Anyway..." Flame looked away from staring death daggers at Wade for the 30 citations to look at Gale, "Friend...I was hoping we could work something out?" The whistle blew.

"COME ON, REF!" Gale started to yell again, "ARE YOUR EYES IN THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD?" She groaned.

Different elements started to boo as Wade and I looked around sadly, "Yeah, Bummer...oh yeah...okay, so, the 30 citations..." Flame leaned forward with a forced smile.

Gale looked back with an angry face, "Do you mind? There's a game going on... Fireball. " She rolled her eyes and went back to the game.

Flame started to go purple a bit in his fire, "Fireball?.." He muttered before walking to Gale, "Actually, I do mind! This is my life we're talking about!" Flame huffed.

Woah... He's amazing...Neither I nor Wade would EVER think about standing up to Gale like that. Well, unless I was begging for her not to take Wade's job away.

"Not just some... game!" Flame grumbled.

Gale scoffed, "Some game? This is the playoffs!" Gale acted sarcastic, "So, forgive me if I don't want to hear a sob story!" She started to turn purple, "..about the problems of some little SHOP!" Gale yelled.

Flame fired back, "Well, that little shop matters way more...than a bunch of overpaid cloud puffs!" Flame started to turn slightly purple as well.

"I dare you.." Gale got close to Flame.

They both stared at each other, "..Say 'cloud puffs' one more time..." Gale grumbled.

Flame smirked, "Cloud. Puffs." They two growled harshly at each other.

"Oh no!" Wade grabbed all our attention, "Lutz!" He seemed worried.

We all looked at the player who Wade was talking about. Watching how badly he was doing. I feel bad for him. Something must be wrong.

I stepped back for a minute to think. I looked around and heard the booing.

'Wait...Why is everyone booing for someone who they WANT to win...?' I thought as I started to smile, piecing a plan in my head.

"Lutz, man, he's been in such a funk 'cause his mom has been sick.." Wade confessed.

"That is so not cool... He's doing his best!" I said, seeming annoyed, "WE LOVE YOU, LUTZ!" I yelled.

Wade looked at me and smiled, "LUTZ!!" He yelled.

"WE LOVE YOU, LUTZ!!" Wade and I yelled together.

It was embarrassing as splash, but it was all part of the plan.

"WE LOVE YOU, LUTZ!" I yelled before turning around, "Come on!" I said to the audience members.

"WE LOVE YOU, LUTZ!" Wade yelled, turning and trying to help me, "EVERYBODY!" He raised his arms, signaling everyone to join.

Everyone started to join in as Flame looked around confused. I looked to see Wade starting a wave as I joined him, smiling and laughing.

As the wave came closer to Flame, who seemed to mesmerize to react, I pulled out an umbrella to cover him as our eyes met for a moment.

"Uhh... Thanks..." He smiled a bit.

"No.. No problem.." I smiled back.

We looked away and focused back on the game, my heart doing flips. I couldn't stop smiling as we watched the Windbreakers win.

We all were having so much fun. Even Flame was cheering for Lutz in the end. As I celebrated with Wade, I turned to see Flame staring at me.

"You're...amazing..." He chuckled out.

I couldn't help but feel my cheeks bubble a bit, "O.. Oh..uhh thank you!" I nervously smiled.

Wade came over to give Flame a high five as he chuckled nervously. We all stood there awkwardly, watching the game.

As we left, I quickly went to grab a snack. I couldn't help but think back to what Flame said in the stadium. I didn't wanna stop smiling. He's amazing...he really is...why.. do I feel like this?

●○●○● Flame's POV ○●○●○

As we left the stadium, Gale was smiling happily.

"Check out who found the gift shop!!" Wade smiled happily, walking to us with a bunch of gift items. He looked ridiculous.

I couldn't help but think back to what happened and smiled, "I gotta admit...that was pretty cool..." I crossed my arms.

"You can see why I get all churned up.." She sighed, "...As a cloud puff who used to come here with her dad, all these wins mean a little bit more..." Gale looked down at me and smiled.

"And as a Fireball, who's supposed to take over her dad's shop, I sure don't wanna let him down.." I looked down sadly, "And...I could use a win, too..." I smiled sadly.

I took a deep breath, I remembered what (Y/N) said... We have once chance to make this right.

"Now, I just got to stop water from coming in..." I stated.

Gale looked shocked, "Water?" She asked, "In Firetown?" She questioned.

I answered back simply, "Yeah...?" I back up a bit.

"Water was shut off to their years ago.." Gale seemed more confused than I was, "Oh! Forget the tickets...Im gonna have to take apart your dad's shop to figure out what's going on!" She admitted.

WHAT?! That isn't what is supposed to happen.. I slowly started to hyperventilate.

"You can't!" A new voice rings as i turn to see (Y/N), "His dad put his whole life into that place!" She continued.

She was sticking up for me. She may be an over sentimental water element, but...she has guts like a fire element. Am I a bad influence?...Nah... but I can't help but smile at this element.

Gale grunts, "I bet this is connected to that fluffing leak!" She grumbled.

"Yeah, we've been trying to track down a leak in the city..it's why (Y/N) and I were in the canal and..." Wade looked down then at (Y/N) like they just figured out a huge mystery.

"Wait!" (Y/N) smiled, "I know where we got sucked into Flame's shop!" she looked down, "Flame and I could track the water from his shop to find the source of the leak!" She smiled more.

Gale placed her hands on her hips, "Keep talking.." She looked intrigued.

"And when they find something, I can call a city crew to fix whatever they find!" Wade smiled.

I filled with hope, "Yes! And there'd be no need to touch my dad's shop!" I smiled happily.

"Wade... you better feel lucky... your sister and that fireball are a cute couple!" Gale smiled as I felt my face heat up.

"Oh, we're not a..." I started but never got to finish.

"You've got until Friday.." Gale said, "If you can find the leak and get a crew to fix it by then, those tickets are forgiven!" Gale smiled, "If not, your dad's shop gets shut down!" She yelled.

We had one chance. One chance to get this right. We got to Gale, and now we had to fix a leak. Can't be that hard, right?

"Please take all that off.." I looked at Wade and grumbled.

He tried to place a hat on me, but it turned to ash.

"Hey Flame..I'll walk you home!" (Y/N) offered.

Wade seemed confused at first but then smirked, "Come home safe, sis.." He patted her head and left.

Once we arrived back in Firetown, we couldn't stop laughing and talking. It was...nice to connect with someone who wasn't a fire element.

"Just...keep out of sight, okay? It'd be a whole thing.." I chuckled and smiled.

I saw how she was shivering as I took off my hoddie, to happily have a black undershirt. I gave it to her as we both smiled. She looked so small in my hoddie. It was...cute.

We both stopped and ran to the window after I heard Ashfa yelling, "More water upstairs! I don't understand! I fixed one pipe and another one leaks!" Ashfa grumbled.

"How could it be worse?" I asked (Y/N).

She looked down in thought before looking back at me, "Now that the waters back, the pressure is forcing it up to all your pipes!" She answered, trying to keep her voice down.

I looked into the basement window, "We've gotta find the source!" I sighed, "How did you two even end up here?" I asked, looking in a direction of the pipe.

"Well.. Wade and I were in the canals... checking the doors for leaks... when we found some water...that shouldn't have been there..." She thought some more, "Wade tasted it and said how it tasted Rusty... with a hint of...uhh...motor oil?" She questioned her own words,

She looked down, "There was a sudden woosh of water...it forced us into the filtering system... but then we heard an explosion... which pushed some gunk out of the tubes.." (Y/N) sighed, "That's how we arrived in your shops basement.." She finished.

It all clicked, "Oh, Embers! My temper caused this!" I seemed more stressed than before, "So... we're searching for water somewhere in a canal?" I questioned as I noticed that the canals go everywhere.

"It's why tracking down that leak has been so dang hard..." (Y/N) said as my mind clicked again.

"The roof!" I looked up to the roof.

When we both arrived on the roof, I started to create something that looked like a hot air balloon.

(Y/N) stared in amazement, "HOLY SQUIRTS!" She smiled, impressed.

To be honest, I feel honored and bit bashful by her smile.

"Shh.. Get in!" I said as she hopped into the balloon.

I started to use my fire to direct the balloon, and I could feel (Y/N)'s gaze stay on me. I looked over to see her amazed by me, and then she smiled.

Her smile was...amazing.

But I saw that my fire was starting to slowly make her bubble, as I slowly moved away from her. I could see that she was disappointed by that, but I don't wanna hurt her.

We both stared at the amazing sight as (Y/N) finally pointed toward something, "Okay, that's where we got sucked in!" She smiled, "There's more water! Go that way, please!" She pointed in the direction of the water as I did just that.

We got close to some apartments as we saw two apple tree earth elements... pruning each other. As we left, we couldn't help but laugh.

As soon as our eyes met again, she turned away with a little bubbly in her cheeks as I looked away with a smile. This...felt great.

"So...uhh...what do you do at the shop?" (Y/N) asked, "If you don't mind me asked.." She smiled.

"My Dad's retiring, and I'll be taking over... someday.." I confessed, "When I'm ready.. " I sighed dejected.

"Must be nice knowing what you're gonna do.." She leaned on the bottom of the balloon, "Wade has his job, and it feels like my whole family has its purpose while I...can't get anywhere.." She sighed, "Its...because when Wade and my dad passed, I got all..."What's the point?"...I mean Wade did too but...I feel more affected." She looked down.

"There a word...in Firish..." I smiled as I slowly got closer, "Tishok!" I spoke, "It...means embracing the light while it burns.. because it won't always last forever..." I got even closer but tried not to make her bubble.

"Tee-shook." She tried to pronoun, horribly.

I couldn't help but chuckle, "Or... something like that!" I smiled.

As we kept floating, I spotted a familiar place.

"You okay?" (Y/N) asked, concerned.

I looked at her, "Uhh.. Yeah..." I looked down again.

She seemed to be persistent, "You sure?" I didn't like to see her so worried about me, not like this.

I took a deep breath, "It's just...that building over there.." I gestured to the building, "That's garden central station..." I sighed.

~ When I was a kid, my dad took me there because they had a Vivisteria tree...I always wanted to see one...it's the ONLY flower that can thrive in any environment...fire included...I was...SO excited...but...they said our fire was too dangerous...and they wouldn't let us in...My dad was so angry...and embarassed...the building flooded a few years later..~

I started to get angry myself, "So I missed my ONE CHANCE to see a Vivisteria..." I looked back at (Y/N) as my gaze softened as I saw her crying.

She seemed so taken aback, "You. must have been so scared.." She said.

I stared down at her for a moment before admiring, "I was..." I never told anyone that I was scared before.

It started to annoy me, "How do you do that?" I asked.

She seemed confused, "Do...what?" She leaned on the bottom of the balloon again.

"...Draw people in?" I smiled, "You got a WHOLE stadium to connect with you!" I restated that event as I started to stutter, "I..I can't even connect with one customer... My stupid temper always kicks in!" I admitted.

She looked down, "I guess I just say what I feel..." She sighed, "I just don't think a temper is so bad!" She smiled, "Sometimes when my brother loses HIS temper... I tell him that it's just him trying to tell himself something that... he's not ready to hear..." (Y/N) looked back at me.

I grumble, "That's ridiculous..." I sighed.

"Maybe.." She shrugged, "Hey! THERE!!" She pointed out, "Put us down there!!" She smiled.

I went to land us near the leak as we walked to the broken doors.

"That's not right.." (Y/N) said, crossing her arms.

We both walked past the hole, "Why is there no water?" I asked.

She looked back at me, "Because the doors are broken.." She answered, "This is supposed to catch spill over from those main canals and..." A ship horn interrupted her.

Water was coming and fast. I needed to get out of there. I started to run out of the canal as (Y/N) followed behind me.

I managed to jump up and hang on, but (Y/N) was hanging for her life with the current pulling her. My eyes widened. She screamed for help as I burned off a pole and handed it to her.

"Grab this!" I demanded as she grabbed onto it, I pulled her to the other side of the hole as we both let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank you.." She smiled happily.

I couldn't help but smile back, "No problem.." I looked at her.

I looked back at the water as my eyes widened, FIRETOWN! I looked around to spot some heavy hand bags from above. If I can get up there and throw them over the hole...

So I jumped over the gushing water and made my way to where the bag was. I looked at (Y/N), "Catch!" I yelled.

I started to throw the bag to (Y/N) as she placed them over the hole the best she could. I noticed how much trouble she was having trying to resist the current of the water. But then she started to absorb the water. I smiled happily as once she made it, placing the bag down.

I started to throw down more and more bags for her to place. She's so strong, damn. When we placed the last bag, we were both out of breath.

We both heard the sound of running to see Wade coming towards us. (Y/N) let Wade know where we were so he could come see the damage.

"So...will this hold?" I questioned, looking at the bags.

Wade slightly pushed it, "Yup...it should for sure.." He smiled, "At least long enough to get a city crew to come and fix it before Friday!" Hope filled both Me and (Y/N) eyes.

I turned to face (Y/N) as I noticed something in her face.

"What?" She asked, looking back at me.

I point to my own cheek, "You've... got a little..." I chuckled,"Sand..?" I smiled as I placed my hand on her cheek to clean it, but I didn't.

I didn't wanna hurt her.

Wade pointed, took it out for her, and she smiled and looked at me, "Thanks.." She smiled softly, I won't lie, it made my heart do a little flip.

"Well... let me know when it's done, I guess.." My heart slowly sunk. This was the last time either of us would see each other.

"Wade will make sure there's a city crew here by Friday!" (Y/N) smiled.

I stood there awkwardly, not wanting to leave, "Okay..." I sighed and started to walk off, "See ya..." I started to walk off.

"Wait!" I stopped and turned to see (Y/N) behind me.

I looked at her, "Any chance you're...free tomorrow?" She smiled nervously.

Was she...asking me out on a date? I felt my face heat up.

"To...hang out with...a water girl?" She looked away sadly, with a soft smile.

"A water girl?" I started, "My dad would boil you alive!" I didn't want her to get hurt.

"He doesn't have to know! We can meet in the city!" She smiled, "I promise nothing weird!..." She smirked, "Maybe a little...pruning!" She laughed a bit as I smiled.

Wade looked between us confused.

"Sorry..." I chuckled, "That's not gonna happen.." I can't got against Ashfa.

Her face lights up, "You smiled! I saw it!!" She smiled bright, "Tomorrow!! I'll be at the Alkali Theater 3:00!" She smiled more and more as I walked away.

●○●○● (Y/N)'s POV ○●○●○

That smile didn't leave my face as Wade and I went home.

"You like him...Don't you?" Wade smiled, "Nothing against it of course I'm just..." He wrapped his arm around me, "So..." He started to get teary-eyed, "SO HAPPY!!" He cried.

I smiled happily.

Do I...actually like Flame...like that?

I smiled think back to him.

You know what...maybe I do like Flame like that...but for now...that'll be my little secret...and I guess Wade's too!
