-Second Best-

-Alex's POV-

I'm awoken by music and the sweet, sweet smell of food. I drag myself up and stager into the kitchen.

"Mr Trott?" I question.

He turns and looks at me with a large grin on his face, "ready boy?"

"Ready for what?" I ask rubbing my face.

"For a day out." He adds, flipping waffles on my plate.

"Isn't that what you normally do with Chris?" I ask.

"If I can't get Chris then I'll settle for second best." He smiles, handing me some fruit things.

I shrug accepting the kindness and taking a bite out of the waffles, "so where we going?"

"New York." He grins, "Chris said you wanted to visit New York."

"He did?" I ask.

"Yeah and I hope you don't mind, but I invited some of your friends." He grins as them come crawling out from behind the counter.

I frown, "alright."

"Heyyy Alex! Buddy!" Jason yells, throwing his arms around me.

"Hi Jason." I reply bluntly.

Cassie smiles and waves as David does the same. Charles stood beside them also.

"So New York?" Cassie asks.

"Yeah, New York." Trott's dad confirms.

"Let's get going then!" Jason grins, heading to the door.

Trott's dad looks at me, lifting his eyebrows. I nod as I get up and head towards the door as well.

We all pile out the door and into the car.

"Everyone ready?" Trott's dad asks.

We all nod in confirmation.

I am not prepared for this long day.
