Eleven: Eve Hall 16 Years Old

"Ah. Here we are. KL's Headquarters. I'll drop you off to your suite and in the morning we'll start our experiments. Stay away from all windows, and don't talk to anyone you don't know, which is everyone." Lola said, chuckling a bit.
I followed her inside, and she lead me up a massive, white and gray, marbled staircase with rusted iron banisters. I held my hands at my sides with Lola in front of me, her black high-heels clicking against the marble.
"And... here we are," Lola said, pushing me into a room with structure similar to my room back at HQ. My heart thumped in my chest, loudly and I nodded and headed inside.
"Your welcome, I guess," Lola scoffed, turning and making her way down the stairs.
I took my time to look around. A large bed sat in the middle of the room with a cream head-board with small, orange flowers and vined leaves imprinted onto it. A thick comforter that was brown in the middle and cream on either sides laid on top of the bed. Three large, orange pillows sat on the bed next to each other.
Two, polished wooden side-tables were on either side of the bed, and an old-fashioned alarm clock sat on the side-table on the right. A large succulent was on the one on the left. A square lamp sat on both tables and three glass plates were directly above the bed. The one in the middle depicted a bouquet of dandelions, and the two on either side of it depicted a pine leaf.
A basket of soaps and and candles sat on the bed with orange flowers inside, along with three, cream colored, full length towels. I'll take a bath in the morning, I thought. Little did I know that I wouldn't have any time to bathe in the morning.
A large window was on the left and the small amount of light from the sun-rise poured through it. Beige curtains hung on the rod above the window and a glass wall was on the left side of the room. Buzz. Buzz. Buzz. My phone, I thought, reaching into my back pocket, but then realized that Lola had taken my phone.
Buzz. Buzz. Buzz, the sound continued. I stayed quiet, listening for where the buzzing was coming from. Buzz. Buzz. Buzz. The clock, I thought.
I rushed to the side-table on the right. Buzz. Buzz. Buzz, the alarm-clock went. I picked up the rusty old thing and turned it over. Buzz. Buzz. Buzz, it went, louder now.
"What the hell?" I mumbled, smashing my hand against the two knobs. Buzz! Buzz! Buzz! The alarm clock screeched, and I squinted my eyes, looking at the numbers. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12—12? Why was 12 the last number? Wasn't 12 supposed to be at the top of the clock? Not one?
"Strange," I murmured and the buzzing continued through my thoughts. This is some sort of clue, I thought. Someone here at King Lion's HQ is good, and they're leaving clues for me. But why? And why won't this darn alarm-clock stop buzzing?
I turned around, the clock still in my hands, and something big, and red caught my eye. A button, I thought. I walked over to it and debated whether I should press it or not. I decided against pushing it just in case it was for emergencies or something. I'd ask someone later.
"Andrée!" A male's voice called from the connecting room. I hid behind the bed from the voice, my heart thudding inside my chest.
"Who's there?" I shouted, remembering that I was trained to fight, not to hide.
"What do you mean, Andrée? It's me, Koda." the voice said.
"Who the hell is Koda?" I asked, my hands trembling as I made my way to the connecting door. I pressed my ear against the wood.
"What the heck? Who are you? And what did you do to my sister?" Koda asked and his voice cracked.
"I didn't do anything to your sister. Who are you? I'm Eve." I said, regretting telling him my name.
Koda inhaled sharply and opened the door. He had jet black hair that was messy and swept to the side, and he had a slim yet lean body. He was dressed in an olive green tee, revealing sculpted biceps.
"Lola probably replaced her," Koda said, sweeping his hands through his charcoal black hair. "Dam—,"
"What do you mean?" I asked, curious. "Lola replaces you guys? What does that mean?"
"You're the QS's girl, right? Their newest recruit? Ugh. Great! Now Andrée is on floor 12!"
"Dang. That's up high. How many levels are there?" I asked.
"What do you mean, it's high? The 12th floor is the floor on the bottom. We're on the first floor right now."
"That doesn't make any sense. What are you talking about?" I said.
"Give me a piece of paper." Koda said, and I looked around, and then handed him one.
Koda pulled a pen from his fanny pack and wrote drew 12 levels on the sheet. He pointed at the one at the bottom. "This is floor 12," he said. Then, he pointed at the floor above that one. "This is floor 11. Then, ten, and nine, and eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. The floor at the top is floor one. Twelve is the smallest. Or the one at the bottom. Get it?"
I tilted my head. "Kind of." The clocks.
"Great," he murmured, and I could tell he was just attempting to be polite, and really was worried about his sister.
"Do you want me to help you with your sister?" I asked, feeling sympathetic. "I shouldn't be here for too long. I'll find a way to escape."
" Haha. That's what me and my sister thought at first. We've been here for six years. I'm Koda J., by the way. Sorry that I didn't introduce myself at first," I smiled, even though deep down I was panicking and felt like I was about to fa—
