Silence ensued.
Nathaniel looked around his surrounding and then he remembered something. He crouched down to his bag on the ground and pulled out a paper.
It was the drawing of you hugging the picture of Adrien.
He gently removed the picture from the paper and handed it to you with a careful gaze. You could immediately recognize the picture, making you snatched it away from him. You looked at the picture closely. It was still in good condition.
Without a word, you placed the picture back in your bag's pocket. You made enough embarrassing moments already so you figured you need to go now.
Nathaniel stepped towards you, ignoring the papers burning for a while. "W-wait!" He called. You turned around. "Does... Marinette tell you anything about me?"
"She says you're--" You were about to joke something but you saw past him. The fire was spreading throughout the garden. "Shit!"
He frowned. "That bad, huh?"
You pointed a finger towards the branches and leaves that were touched by fire and it is quickly getting bigger. "No!"
Nathaniel followed to where you're pointing and saw the fire. "Shit!"
You looked at it. You have to do something! An idea popped into your mind. You swore you saw a fire extinguisher earlier...
You didn't waste any more time and sprinted towards the school and into one of the hallways. You ignored Nathaniel's confused screaming.
You finally saw one extinguisher plastered against the wall. You quickly detached it and ran and ran and ran, as fast as possible.
You almost reached the back of the school when you could feel your legs giving up and your heart beating faster. Your vision was going dark, but you eventually saw the fire. You attempted to pull the pin out of the extinguisher, but you saw electricity coming out of your palm. Still, you managed to pull it out.
You aimed the hose towards the fire and squeezed it, making puffs of chemicals spray out, slowly putting out the fire.
Finally the fire was out and all Nathaniel could hear was the continuous beeping coming from your watch. He saw you doing a double take with your hands placed on top of the extinguisher for support.
"H-hey," he spoke. "Are you gonna faint?"
The beeping was non-stop. Mixed with the sound was your heavy breathing.
Nathaniel ran towards you. You checked your device slowly going downwards to 140 then 137 then 135...
"What's that sound?" He asked.
"It's the... sound of my... heartbeat," you replied, still breathing heavily.
He crouched down lower to your level to face you. "You're having a heart attack?"
You wanted to roll your eyes but you were still catching your breath. "...No."
Then 130, 127, 123, 120. TOOT!
You sighed in relief. You stood up, taking the fire extinguisher in your arms. "I use this device to know if I'm going to discharge electricity."
You began walking away. He followed right after you. "So, you can actually shock people with lightning?"
"I'm not Thor."
You walked away again. He kept asking so many questions. "How strong is it?"
You turned around to answer. "Hm. It can make people faint." You placed a palm in front of his face. "Wanna try?"
He leaned as far as possible. You smiled a bit at that. He still felt scared around you. Of course. You rolled your eyes and faced the other way. But Nathaniel was still persistent as ever. "Can you do other things? Can you charge a phone?"
You used an extinguisher at him. He was covered with white puffs of chemicals. "You can be very talkative," you remarked. You gave him the big, red bottle. "Here, go and put this back."
You made your exit, not knowing how Nathaniel looked at you in awe.
////
The next day, you decided to hang out by the football field (the one where we play with our feet). You definitely didn't go there just to watch Adrien practice. You definitely didn't go there just to stand and look at his pretty face.
You wanted to get closer... the view might be more perfect if you were to go closer. You were standing next to a pile of footballs now.
Suddenly, a ball rolled to your shoes. You confusedly picked it up and looked it up. Where did it came from-
"Sorry!"
Your gaze went to the guy who spoke. Your eyes widened. Adrien.
He ran towards you, but everything seemed to go in slow motion when he showed you a million euro smile- and oh gosh, his blond locks, the sweat forming around his forehead-
Beep, beep, beep, beep
That sounded awfully familiar. You glanced at the device on your wrist, showing the number 101, then 102. Oh, no.
"Um, may I ask- what grade are you in?"
Beep, beep, beep, beep
"E-eleventh grade..."
He let out a relieved chuckle. Oh my gosh his eyes. "That's great."
beebeebeebeebeebeebeebee-
You just smiled nervously at him. The beeping still continued. If he touches you...
You opted to step back and just slither far from him. You didn't want to hurt him, him out of all people.
"I..." he started. "It's just... I want you to join-"
You just yeeted away from Adrien. He watched you and decided to follow you.
You entered the halls, taking as big steps as possible. You thought he didn't follow you but he did. "Hey, wait!"
You turned around and saw him jogging near you. Your hair was getting frizzy from all this running and the beeping just won't stop.
"A-are you interested in joining the running team?"
"No, no thank you! I run very slow!"
Adrien smirked. That's not what he's seeing right now. You were far ahead of him and he's pretty amazed.
Screams resounded from the hallways as girls caught sight of the school's heartthrob. He turned around to give them a small smile and wave then proceeded to catch up with you.
You turned to a corner, hoping to lose him, but you can still hear his shouts. "Miss!"
beebeebeebeebeebee-
A big poster was being carried by two young students walking out of the classroom. On the last minute, you ducked your head and luckily dodged it.
The two girls, however were confused as to why a random girl is in a hurry. They looked to the other side and saw a handsome guy deciding for a slide on the floor to the other side of the poster.
"Adrien!" One of the girls screamed and accidentally tore the poster in half. The two rejoiced after seeing the superstar once again.
It was getting difficult to breathe. You skipped another set of stairs. You turned to the right to a hallway. At the end of it was the emergency exit. You reached for the metal doorknob, but it went unsuccessful when you shocked yourself.
You cursed under your breath. Damn it, I'm cornered.
"There you are."
You frantically turned around.
"Y-you can run pretty fast. Do you maybe wanna-"
"Please go away! I can't run, didn't you hear me the first time?" You blurted.
His smile slowly fell from his face and you already feel bad about it. He just stood there awkwardly. "Okay... Can I take the ball back?"
Your eyes widened as you only realized that you were holding a football the entire time. You immediately tossed the ball to him. He caught it with ease.
Adrien nodded in understanding and at the same time, embarrassment. He turned around to face you one last time. "But if you happen to change your mind, we're training tomorrow evening." He smiled sheepishly and made his exit.
Your face contorted into panic. What are you going to do now?
////
"Bye, Marinette." Alya said to her best friend as she went outside the clinic.
When the coast is clear, Nathaniel quickly went inside. The nurse was asleep, so it's all safe. Marinette was the only patient there and he heard that the reason why she's here is because she was so stressed, she fainted.
Nathaniel approached the bed at the corner of the room. "H-hey, Marinette."
The blue-bell eyed girl sat up to face him.
"I hope you get well soon. Don't stress yourself too much," Nathaniel stated just like he practiced a hundred times. "Anyway, I brought you these exotic sweets I bought to m-maybe ease the pain. Here, try one." He handed her a piece of candy.
Marinette smiled uncomfortably. "Th-thank you... but please, can you stop doing all of this? I'm sorry but you're really making my life miserable because of that stupid comic."
He just stared at her. This was all of his fault.
All of his fault.
////
You heard the doorbell ring and went to get it. Who would visit at such an hour?
Nonetheless, you opened the door. How the heck did he know where you live? You stared at the deep frown forming in his face. He looked like he was about to cry...
"Why did you come here?" You asked.
Nathaniel sobbed, but no tears came out, yet. "Please shock me."
"What."
"Shock me, please!" He pleaded.
You narrowed your eyes at the red-head in front of you. Why would he suddenly wants you to shock him? "What happened?" You questioned suspiciously.
He didn't answer. Instead, he brought his hands up and attempted to scare you. "Boo!"
You continued to narrow your eyes at him. If he was this serious about wanting an electric shock, then- "Is this about Marinette?"
He still didn't answer. He leaned and grabbed your shoulders forcefully, waiting to get a violent reaction out of you. "Bah!" He exclaimed. "Gah!" He held your elbows and shook it slightly.
"Idiot," you remarked, shaking his hands off of you.
What you didn't expect was when he closed his eyes, leaned in...
and grabbed your boobs.
"Ack!" You shrieked, slapping your hand across his cheek. Your hand remained and you watched in remorse as he was spasming in place, with his tongue almost out and his eyes turning completely white. You finally let go and he was down on the ground.
////
Nathaniel slowly opened his eyes to see a dim light casting over his face. He wanted to move but he was too worn out. He noticed his mouth is forced to remain open so he was struggling to speak. He heard some kind of rubber being stretched. "He found out our daughter's secret..."
He looked up and saw a man wearing a surgical mask who was adjusting his gloves. "We can't let him go. He must not know the truth." He let out a dental drill that produced a loud whirring sound. Nathaniel warningly looked at the drill going near his mouth. He started to hyperventilate. He went to move his arms, but then a woman held it firmly. He screamed and shouted, he didn't want his teeth removed! The two people laughed, clearly entertained by torturing the young kid.
Suddenly, the main lights turned on, revealing you with a blank and annoyed face. "Mom, Dad, stop it already."
They both turned to face you. Your dad spoke, "I'm not finished yet. I haven't even brushed your friend's teeth!" He went back and took care of Nathaniel still wearing a gag.
You looked at them weirdly. "He's not my friend."
"What?" They faced you sharply. You can already tell what was going to happen and even though they have their masks covering the bottom half of their face, you could see their smirks forming around their features. "He's not your friend, eh?"
They both pointed their fingers at you and then proceeded to tease you. "Then who is he?"
You sighed in annoyance. You were getting more embarrassed each and every second that had passed. You exited the room.
////
Dinner ensued. It was both awkward and anxiety-inducing. You didn't know how much more embarrassing it could get with your parents around, but thank goodness they're quiet when they're eating.
Everyone was done with their dinner. Nathaniel beside you stood up in his chair and decided to help your mom. "U-uh, let me help you with that." Your mom silently thanked him and assisted him with carrying the dishes to the sink. You stood up and followed them, your own plate in your hands.
You were in charge of doing the dishes that night, and as your parents began to clean a little bit, you and Nathaniel were in charge of washing plates. He was in the washing station while you were in the rinsing station. Everything was just falling into place until he said, "Marinette doesn't want to see my face anymore."
"Well, I think saying sorry isn't enough."
Nathaniel looked at your face, then your hands. Just when you go and place your hands in the water, he removed his own from it. "So-so what should I do?"
You hummed. "Nowadays, I can see Marinette struggling with her fashion thingy. Maybe that's why she's stressing so much. Heard that some students don't want to come and do the photoshoot with her."
"And?"
"That's it."
He gave you a tired glare.
You went to wash the pot you were holding, so you placed it inside the water. You noticed that he immediately retracted his hands. You looked at it with a knowing grin. "Afraid of getting shock, huh?"
Nathaniel gave you a small, shy smile. "N-no. I'm not scared." He then confidently placed the cup in his hands into the water and faced you with a somewhat proving look.
You smiled, continuing to wash the pot. All of a sudden, a memory resurfaced in your mind.
"But if you happen to change your mind, we're training tomorrow evening."
Your eyes widened. Should you tell him?
"Can I ask you something?"
The red-head beside you leaned towards you with raised brows.
"What do you feel whenever Marinette is around you?"
"Well," he seemed to be thinking for a moment. "I feel... nervous, like, my heart beats so fast when I'm around her." He looked at you. "Why?"
You frantically shook your head. "N-nothing." Nathaniel looked at you for a moment then went to wash a random yellow cup. "Just... don't tell this to anyone," you said, getting antsy minute by minute. You slowly retrieved the top cover of a metal pot and held it high to cover your face from Nathaniel's gaze. He remained silent. "Adrien wants me to join their running team!"
Nathaniel widened his eyes in surprise. "Adrien Agreste?"
You nodded, still holding the soapy cover.
"But why does a guy such as Adrien asked you?"
"I don't know! M-maybe, he saw my big legs."
He stepped backwards to take a good look at your lower limbs. It still didn't make any sense.
"Hey! Don't look at it."
Nathaniel looked afar. An idea popped in his mind, making him smile wide. "But come to think of it-" You were beginning to get horrified to what this boy is saying. "There are so many grade 11 students and you don't even do sports..." His smile widened even more. "Or is it because-?"
"That's bullshit," you interrupted, your grip tightening around the cover.
"Imagine," Nathaniel continued. "Your name gets changed from Y/N L/N..."
Thump-thump. Thump-thump. Thump-thump.
"...to Y/N Agreste!"
You squealed and pushed the metal down the water, electricities sparking everywhere. The both of you flinched away from the sink. You looked at each other in worry and awkwardness.
////
The cold water from the shower hit your shoulders. You relaxed under it as you proceeded to scrub your body. Meanwhile, your mind might've taken you to Imagination Land.
"My Y/N Agreste."
It brought you back to the day at the hallway.
His arms open wide for you. "Can I take the ball back?" Adrien said with his dreamy voice.
"Why won't you come get it yourself?" You replied with the same tone, putting the ball behind you.
He walked towards you. "You're such a tease, girlfriend of mine~" He wrapped his arms around you and 'tried' to get the ball but he just wanted to embrace you. He let out a moan-
You screamed, covering your face as you did so. You knew it was crazy, but you couldn't help it! He just looked so dreamy and- you just wanted to scream some more. Your heart is going crazy!
Unbeknownst to you, a mosquito flew next to you, wanting to get some blood but oh no, it died because you electrocuted the crap out of it.
