falafel burger
"They left the building at around 7am... they walked down abbey avenue. They shared a falafel burger at a falafel stand. Not much happened. The woman was dressed in her uniform. Nothing out of the ordinary." Julio informed Felipe over the phone. Alfredo being the stubborn man he is, they had to let him be but even then he could never be left entirely alone. Learning from past mistakes when the Russians sent a gunman for his head. Thankfully, two bullets on the shoulder did nothing except bruise him.
"Alfredo ate streetfood?" Felipe questioned a little surprised. His son was someone who was very demanding when it came to food and certainly most things. For him to eat something ordered off the streets came as a big surprise.
"I think Alpha likes the lady a lot."
"Argh believe me, I should know.." Felipe rolled his eyes frustratedly letting out an exasperated groan.
"He is after all here in search for a wife..." Julio muttered in a gruff voice. Putting his binoculars aside. Him and two other members of the Sorona Cartel (secretly ran by the Molinero family) had been watching Alfredo the minute he left the hotel room the day before. They were always on the lookout as requested by the lead of security Felipe. Alfredo was smart enough to know that they'd never ever leave him alone. They'd never let him be alone. Even if he demanded it or ordered it. Only if he wanted any early death, that is.
"Mila is a nice girl, but I do not think she is cut out for a life like this. There's always going to be blood. She will not like what we get up, what Alfredo gets up to. The amount of life's he has taken... it will scare her. With the trafficking, she will be terrified stiff when she comes to know our business."
Chuckling over the phone. Julio shook his head. "True true boss, Alpha hasn't shown his true colors, he is so soft with this one."
"Hopefully he forgets about her."
"By the looks of it, I doubt. You should have seen him boss. He was actually smiling, laughing... Ever since I joined the Sorona family four years back, I've never seen that side of him."
"He didn't even get to smash..!" Sniper laughed out loud in the backseat of the black SUV adjusting his rifle. The tattoos on his neck told a different story. They seemed very homemade from when he served a three year sentence in Mexican's most notorious prison, a year back. He was not to be messed with. With a gold tooth and a bald head, he enjoyed a good banter but when it was time to take a shot, he was never hesitant. Never did he miss a target either.
"It's sore..." Cruzito mimicked Mila's voice on the passenger seat, earning laughter from Sniper. With a buzz cut and huge scar on his upper left eyebrow down to his eye from a Portuguese knife fight. You would have never guessed he was one to laugh. He didn't look like he laughed. He was intimidating. The scorpion tattoo on his bicep, showing his loyalty now and forever till his death to the Sorona Familia. Julio being the mildly thoughtful one... he couldn't help the laughter that escaped his mouth. Julio was much less intimidating than the rest even with regards to his chosen name.
On the other side of the phone call, Felipe hid a smile shaking his head. "What did I tell you about listening in on Alpha's private moments...?"
"Boss, it was for safety ofcourse. We could not switch it off then have something occur. The girl could be some sort of sleuth..." Julio replied clearing his throat. The little device they used was infact installed in Alfredo's Rolex, he never left without a watch and firearm. Granted that was the only way to keep up with him.
"I doubt, anyways keep a look out." with that Felipe hung up.
"A sleuth with a hot ass, I would have banged her regardless. Alpha was being too nice. Remember that little pera from Durango City?" Sniper muttered lowly.
"Alpha was ruthless, heard he broke her cervix." Cruzito added.
"He was clearly upset, he would have never done that. She lied about being pregnant and it escalated quickly." Julio replied.
"He fucked her up so badly. Surprising how he treats this one like an egg... you think he will marry the hoe?" Sniper questioned.
"I don't know what to tell you man..." Julio replied. "He has been with many women, just when we think they're getting there. Something happens..."
"Next thing you know she is pregnant..."
"I hope not." Cruzito answered.
"Surely since he hits it raw with her. I'm surprised because he never takes that risk regardless of them claiming to be on a pill or not." Julio added, in a bored tone.
"This one will get pregnant, you bet!"
"She seems like a smart one..."
"Yeah I still say give it a few months, she is getting pregnant..!" Sniper argued with Julio.
"What makes you so sure?"
"Alpha wants her and did I tell you that Mila is Mexican? Alpha loves his Hispanic women also noted his father's Will said something about the lucky number twenty-seven there has to be a Molinero heir before he can accumulate the rest of his inheritance." Sniper replied with a smug on his face. "I'm willing to bet 100 bucks on it. This one is getting pregnant."
"This is unpredictable." Julio added gruffly. "But you have a point."
"She is getting pregnant." Sniper added confidently again.
"Lola will be pissed." Cruzito chuckled. "Pissed that a normal looking ass girl took her man."
Julio grinned putting both hands on the steering wheel. "It's about time she took me seriously so you know what? I'm with you on that one. Mila Rivera is getting pregnant."
"You're both lunatics." Cruzito laughed shaking his head. "Acting like you're the one fucking the poor girl. Only Alpha gets to decide that."
"I'm just trying to be positive." Julio added mischief written all over his face.
"Yeah right, Lola is a hoe anyways. Don't know what you both see in her. Wouldn't want to be fucking something that's been passed around like nachos."
"No, Cruzito; you're just upset you're stuck with your crazy baby mama!"
"Man, that one is mad crazy... te digo (I tell you!)" Just like that the conversation had digressed onto a new topic.
— earlier.
"Coffee or tea?" Mila asked him tying her hair in a pony tail. Alfredo laid back in bed, entirely confused and half sleepy. Refilling Simba's bowel, she turned back to look at Alfredo who had gone back to sleep even though his eyes had been open merely seconds ago. Hair messy, shirtless... he had multiple scars on his chest. They told a story, they looked painful. Simple tattoos here and there but the scorpion on his neck, gave her the creeps.
"Hey?!" Mila sat on one side of the bed making it sink. "Hey, I need to be at work in 40..."
Squinting his eyes open, time seemed to be flying because the last his eyes were open Mila was showering and now she was all dressed. For some reason, ge thought her uniform was the cutest he'd ever seen. "...does that mean we can have a quicky?" He teased his voice groggy as he sat up straight.
"...no..." she laughed. "It means you need to get going...!"
"Oh yeah... right." Alfredo muttered. "I forgot, I don't live here." How Alfredo has become so comfortable in such a small living space had surprised him. He did not miss home, not the home in Mexico not the one at the hotel. In that moment he simply enjoyed being in that dingy apartment building... with Mila ofcourse.
Mila couldn't help the smile that formed on her lips. Realizing they had been staring at each other for too long with no words exchanged. Mila stood up before she could, Alfredo pulled her onto the bed. Falling onto the ruffled sheets, she tried to act annoyed as he hovered over her. Capturing her lips so passionately, she felt her stomach do somersaults. Mila wanted to postpone her shift and stay in bed with him all day. His touch made her vagina yearn for a touch, even just a little tease. She did not like any of this but she did. It was confusing. It was lust, she could never turn down good sex.
"You're so irresistible in this dress, I can not help myself...hermosa." He grinned giving her more kisses all over her cheeks and forehead. She giggled as he did so. "No—"
"What did I do?"
Finding her voice and self control. "You're making me late, get dressed..." Mila added pushing him off her. Still amused because she had enjoyed every second of it. He took a shower in less than 10 mins. Simba did not take a liking to Alfredo. His yellow orbs stared at the man from a corner. Watched Alfredo and Mila exchange even more saliva after his shower. In other ways, Mila was giving him more attention.
As they went down the stairs. Mila asked questions, fun questions.
"The US or Mexico?"
"Spain!" Alfredo replied.
"I get it, you travel a lot." She replied sarcastically.
"No, all I meant is it's a beautiful place."
"Day or night?"
"Night."
"Money or happiness?"
Alfredo was quiet for a moment before he replied. "I'd do anything to be able to live your life, carefree. Happiness..."
Mila was looking through her mail when she turned to Alfredo and gave him a smile. "Well that's sad..." trying to lighten up the mood. "You wouldn't want to take the stair everyday and clean up after people—"
With a chuckle, Alfredo nodded. "The elevator must be working by the time you get back."
"Alright Einstein."
"Morning Mila!" Mrs. Martinez greeted her with a warm hug.
"Morning, hi Jared, Hugo..." She grinned ruffling their hair, the boys hated it.
"I didn't know you have a boyfriend?" Jared muttered staring at Alfredo.
"I thought I was your boyfriend?" 6 year old Hugo pouted.
Mrs Martinez ignoring the boys little banter then smiled and greeted Alfredo. He seemed very polite and quiet. "He is not my boyfriend!" Mila said defensively. "Hugo is my boyfriend."
"You look oddly familiar?" Mrs Martinez added eying Alfredo. Panicked he grinned. "Small world perhaps?"
"Yeah... have you met or know Tiberi— I've seen you with that awful man before on the paper or so I'm not sure—"
"Mila, aren't you late? It's almost eight." Alfredo politely cut her off.
"Right, we have to get running as well." The woman added. "Say bye to Aunt Mila."
"Bye boys." Mila smiled waving them off. To her she thought nothing of the conversation. She was busy trying to read her mail as Alfredo and Mrs Martinez exchanged words.
"You must love kids?"
"Yeah, they're alright." Mila shrugged as they went down the side walk of her building. "Do you?"
"What can I say? I want to be a father one day. To have something more than money, perhaps that will bring me happiness."
"Oh... well good luck..." she paused. "I'm gonna get a falafel burger want one?"
"Sure, I've never had that..."
"You've never had a falafel burger?"
"You make it sound like a crime..."
"You have to have one."

This book has the least engaging readers ever out of all my books, like 😫 I will lose interest too and focus on other books that have better engagements.
