KHUSHI

I had never planned a date before, and I was pretty nervous, I dint know if Arnav was going to like it or he was going to be underwhelmed. I wasn't really good on planning the big things, I liked simple things and what I had planned was pretty simple, I hoped he was going to like it.

While we still stood at the door, I gave Piya the hint and she rushed to Arnav's car, opened the bonnet and placed everything I had given her inside the bonnet and rushed back to her hiding spot as Arnav and I headed towards the car.

Despite her being jealous that I was actually going on a date with Arnav, the guy she had always admired, she was happy for me, I was happy for me too.

"So, where are we headed to?" He asked once we were settled inside his car.

"Just drive, I'll direct you." I smiled.

"Pretty big on the surprise huh?" He smiled happily, he looked really excited about the date and that just made me more nervous hoping he was going to like it.

I just nodded as I kept on directing him on what turns to take and so on. It took us like twenty minutes to arrive at the location I had selected for our first date.

"Is this a park or something?" He asked as he drove in.

"Sort of."

"Now I'm curious, what sort of date are we going to have in a park." He laughed as I picked a spot and told him to park, it was a beautiful park that was mostly decorated with those tiny fairy lights on all the trees, the lights lit up every evening and it was just beautiful.

"This is cute." Arnav said as he looked at the lights on the trees, I stood beside him smiling, maybe the date was going to be fine, I dint have to be so nervous about it.

I walked towards the bonnet of his car, opened it up and pulled out the basket Piya had put inside while Arnav looked at me in surprise which made me giggle.

"Well, it was supposed to be a surprise, so I had Piya slip this in secretly when you were talking to me." I giggled.

"Smooth." He smirked as I picked a tree and placed the basket under it.

I opened the basket and pulled out the carpet as I laid it on the ground and set everything up while Arnav looked at me with a big smile on his face all the while.

"You are the only person that can think of planning a picnic date at night." He said.

"It's the only idea I could come up with, you don't like it?" I pouted.

"Are you kidding? I love it. I would have never thought of this, it's the perfect first date, just you and me, no one around us to disturb. We can eat and talk about anything we want to." He smiled as he sat down beside me and then looked at the layout.

Obviously I dint have time to cook any food or so I had just ordered some take out for us and had arranged different fruits it in plate. I also had juice filled in a bottle and some random snacks like packet of chips and some chocolate for dessert.

He was right, I was the only one that could thing if a picnic date at night, but we both were working most of the time so I decided why not.

"I see you put so much effort into all these, it's so simple and beautiful." Arnav smiled.

"Well what can I say, I tried." I smiled.

"And I love it."

We both got rid of our shoes so we could sit properly, and then sat down looking at each other, there was a bit of silence for a while, neither of us knew what to say so I decided to unpack the take out, maybe if we started eating we could start by talking about food.

I handed Arnav one burger and then took my own as we both started eating it. We would look at each other and smile while we continued eating, it was really cute.

"All this still feels like a dream to me." Arnav finally spoke breaking the silence.

"And I've told you, it's very real Mr. Raizada, high time you believe it."

"It's just that I had lost all hopes of you ever feeling anything for me."

"But now I do."

"And I am so happy about it, it's like a dream come true." He smiled, I smiled back at him as I continued with my burger.

He slowly slid his hands towards my other hand which was resting on the ground and placed his hand on top of it, I looked at him as I felt chills, the good kind of chills, wow! I had never thought that a simple touch from him could feel like this.

I blushed a little as I pretended to look everywhere else but at him.

"You're shy with me?" He smirked.

"No." I lied.

"Come on, look at you, you're blushing and you can't even look at me continuously." He teased.

"Okay, just a little bit, it's all so new for me, that's why."

"Don't worry, it's not like I've had a girlfriend before, I'm new to this too."

"But in the past two years at least you've been on dates, I mean the good normal kind of dates, mine were never normal." I said sadly remembering my past suddenly.

"Hey, no more thoughts about the past okay?" He said as he moved so he was seated beside me and now opposite me, he put his arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer.

It was after so long that I really felt safe, just being here with Arnav, after my previous relationship, I never thought I was ever going to feel this way about anyone, I never thought I would ever feel safe in anyone's company but Arnav was changing all of that slowly.

By now we were done with our burgers and were munching on the fruits, I leaned my head on Arnav's shoulder and rested on it.

"I'm so happy we're finally doing this. I don't know if I'll ever be able to explain in words how happy you've made me Khushi, but I just want you to know that you have." He said.

"I'm happy too, even though it took me so long to feel for you, I'm glad I did, I don't know if I would have felt safer with anyone else.

I am so glad you came into my life, irritating me by calling me Bindiya and it all just fell in place somehow." I giggled as I looked at him.

"Hey, you secretly liked me calling you Bindiya, just admit it."

"Okay fine, a bit." I laughed.

"I always knew it." He smirked proudly and the once again, there was a bit of silence, he sat there beside me while I leaned my head on his shoulder once again and sat there peacefully, I was pretty comfortable resting on his shoulder on our first date, it had to mean something right?

Maybe I was going to fall in love with him pretty soon, quite honestly I couldn't wait for it, everything about us felt so beautiful.

"I love this date by the way. I'm so glad you planned it." Arnav said.

"Thank you." I smiled as I finally sat upright and looked at him, we both just stared at each other and kept on smiling like two idiots.

"Can I say something that will make you feel a bit awkward but don't judge me for it please?" He asked making me laugh. He was so cute wasn't he?

"Okay say it." I laughed.

"What are your thoughts on me lying down on resting my head on your lap as your brush your hands through my hair?" He asked as he looked at the floor, aww that was cute, I wouldn't even judge him for it or feel awkward about it.

"I think I would love that." I smiled as I made space for him so he could lie down. I sat down properly and then let him lie down, he adjusted himself and then lied down resting his head on my lap while we both looked at each other.

I swear this had to be the most romantic date ever. How wasn't I already in love with this guy?

"Hey, I know you don't feel the same yet and no pressure but I really love you Khushi. I love you so much and I just want you to know that." He said.

"I know Arnav." I smiled, hopefully, someday I was going to be able to say it back, hopefully it was going to be soon.
