Part 29
ARNAV
She looked like she was lost in some deep thoughts, her expressions kept on changing and I couldn't really figure out what she was thinking, but God! She looked beautiful. She always looked beautiful to me, even after all these years, I couldn't take my eyes off her, I couldn't stop staring at her, I couldn't stop... loving her.
"You're doing that staring thing again." She blushed as she tucked her hair behind her ears.
"What can I do, you are really attractive to my eyes, I don't want to stop staring." I smirked to which she blushed more.
"You find me beautiful?" She asked as she kept on looking at the floor.
"I have always found you beautiful, especially with that bindiya on your forehead, oh... it takes my hear away." I smirked.
She finally looked at me when I said that too her, she smiled for a moment and then looked at me seriously.
"Arnav... I don't know if this is the right thing to so or the right time to say this but I think I am starting to..." before she could finish her sentence, this stupid phone of mine started ringing.
Ughhh. Why couldn't it ring later? Who the hell was calling me now? I really wanted to know what she was saying, so I quickly silenced it after seeing Ayesha's name on screen and looked back at her.
"You were saying something." I looked at her.
"Who was it? You should receive it, maybe it's an important call."
"No, it's just Ayesha, I'm sure she wants to make sure I don't get late. Anyway, finish whatever you were saying." I looked at her hopefully, was she about to say what I was thinking? If so, why wouldn't she just say it? Or it was me misunderstanding things again?
"You must be getting late, you should get going, it wasn't anything important anyway." She smiled.
"You sure Bindiya?" I looked at her curiously, what was it that she wanted to say? I wish she could just say it.
"Yeah." She had this really big smile on her face as if she was trying to hide all other emotions she was feeling.
"Okay... I'll see you at work tomorrow?" I asked as I stood up as if I wasn't sure that I would see her, of course she was going to come to work Arnav, duh.
I was going to kill Ayesha for calling at the wrong time, now I just couldn't stop wondering what Khushi was about to tell me but then changed her mind.
*****
This girl was really confused, she called me twice telling me not to get late and now she was nowhere to be seen, I don't even know why she wanted to meet me suddenly, she just said it was something important and she would tell me about it when we met.
Now here I was, waiting for her at the restaurant but she hadn't shown up yet, what was she up to? What did she want to talk to me about?
I kept on looking around hoping she was going to arrive soon, and she did, after another five minutes, I could see her pouting while she walked towards me.
"Sorry, I got late." She apologized as she sat down in front of me.
"It's okay, tell me what you wanted to talk to me about."
"Do you have to go somewhere? Do you have a date after this or something?" She asked.
"No, why?"
"Then why are you in such a rush? Sit, relax, lets order food and talk."
"Look if this is about..."
"No Arnav, it's not about us. This is not a date, relax. Just two friends hanging out together okay?"
"Okay, but whatever you said on the phone, you made it sound so important, I just want to know what it is."
"Not really that important. I just made it sound so otherwise you wouldn't come." She giggled.
"I really hate you." I rolled my eyes at her.
"The feelings are mutual." She winked at me. Idiot! I just grabbed the menu and started going through it, I was pissed that because of this thing, I couldn't talk to Khushi, I was so sure she wanted to say something important to me.
We both picked out what we wanted to eat and then gave out the order, once the waiter was gone, I looked at Ayesha hoping now she would tell me what she wanted to tell me.
"So, are you going to say something or just be quiet yet?" I asked.
"Okay, it wasn't something big or serious but I just needed advice, I dint want to talk to Aman because I wasn't sure..."
"Okay... what advice?"
"So your company... I mean the company you and Aman both work for... I was offered the job of handling all their legal works. I mean of course I wont be working in your office or anything, but I would just be handling everything legal, now I don't know what to do."
"What's the problem here? I mean if you want the job then just take it..."
"You see it's not that easy... I mean Aman also works there, and he's my brother and I don't know maybe I am overthinking it but I don't want this job to complicate our relationship."
"How would a job complicate anything between you two Ayesha?"
"My parents have been very... I don't know how to explain it to you, but you know how parents always taunt you, like you aren't doing anything in your life and so and so. They have always been like that with Aman, since he was a child, with his school then college and then even the job. With me it has been different, I have always topped in everything so they dint have much to say to me and I feel that has always created some sort of competition for him.
Like he wants to prove to them that he had be like me or better than me or something, and I understand, our parents haven't really been supportive towards him, he has worked really hard but they don't see it, and I feel now if I take this job, he might think that I am just trying to do something which I am not.
So I don't know whether I should take up this offer or not, because I cant really hide it from him if I take it up, I would have to visit the office often and I just don't want him to feel terrible or anything like that." She pouted.
"Wow, this really is a complicated situation."
"I know, that's why I needed your advice, I have to give them my answer by tomorrow morning and I still haven't decided."
"If you want my advice, I'll say talk to Aman. Taking up this job without talking to him might create whatever thoughts in his mind that you think, but talking to him about it, wouldn't. he would feel important too if you just talk to him and take his advice."
"Do you think it will help?"
"Of course, look he is your brother after all and I am sure if you talk to him, it will solve this whole situation."
"Okay, if you say so. Thanks, I'm sorry I bother you but I really needed someone to talk to and you were the only one I could think of because you know Aman and you work in the company too." She smiled.
*****
The next morning, I kept on waiting for Khushi to arrive so I could talk to her and ask her what it was that she wanted to talk to me about, I just really wanted to know.
When I heard a knock I got really excited, and as soon as I looked up, it was her. She was dressed in her usual Patiala suits, today she was wearing pink. Wow, was there any color that dint look good on her?
"Good morning sir. Aman said you were looking for me." She smiled.
"Yes, I was. Take a seat, I had some work for you." I said, she sat down as I handed her some documents which she looked at for a moment and then looked back at me.
"Everything is written here." She said.
"Yeah, I just remembered, we dint finish our talk yesterday, you were telling me something which you dint say because I had to go somewhere. So we can talk about it now, I don't have to go anywhere."
"It was nothing, you are really curious." She giggled.
"I am... even it if was nothing, I would keep thinking about it until you tell me, so just tell me and I stop thinking about it, please." I pouted hoping she would tell me but she just kept on looking at me silently.
The door to my cabin opened up suddenly and Ayesha walked in, wait, what was she doing here?
"I am sorry I couldn't wait, I just wanted to thank you, it worked. You are a gem Arnav, I love you." She said as she walked towards me, bent down and pecked on my cheek. Okay now usually I wouldn't be uncomfortable about this, but because Khushi was, it did kind of make me uncomfortable.
"You talked to him?" I asked.
"I did, and he's okay with it. I was just here to meet with them but I thought I'll see you before that, anyway I'll get going." She smiled excitedly as she waved and then walked out.
I looked back at Khushi and she looked like she was sad, but when she came in here she was normal, what made her sad? Was it something about her ex-boyfriend again? Poor girl, that guy had really traumatized her.
If she had fallen for me, I would have done everything to change that, I would have shown her what true love was like, I would have loved her enough to make her forget about her past experiences but she dint, and I dint want to keep pushing her.
She had said her no and I had taken it. It was just so damn hard to move on though, but I had to, because I was never going to be the one. Oh that hurt.
"Are you okay Khushi?" I looked at her curiously.
"Yes, I'll get started on this." He said as she grabbed the papers and walked out, she definitely dint look okay, but she dint want to talk to me about it either, maybe I should let her be, she was going to be okay with time.
