Chapter - 6

After Vineet left the house in anger, Anaamika move in the kitchen. She just doesn't want to be a part of their drama, she has a lot of other work to do. She finishes off her kitchen work and heads to her mother – in – law to get the money for the grocery shopping because her husband cares so much for her that he doesn't bother her by giving a penny to spend, she has to ask her mother – in – law or another member for everything. Though it doesn't bother her, it's no harm to ask for money from your family but what upsets her is the way they inquire about every penny spent while her husband does not find it wrong.

Anamika knocked the door of her mother – in – the law room, the lady allowed her in. she finds both her in – law discussing something, may be the incident that took place an hour before.

“Maa wo market se saman lana tha toh paise chahiye the.” She told her, Kaushalya nodded and gave her the money but asked her to wait as they wanted to have a talk with her. Anamika already sees it coming, she knows they will try to convince her that in a family such a thing happens and she should understand it and not narrate every story to her husband who in turn will fight with his own elders.

“Beta, please tum log apne aapas ki baat ko Vineet tak maat le jaya karo, tum janti ho wo kitna sensitive have, tumhe leke aur possessive hai wo, bahut pyar karta hai tumse. Aab tum aurton ke bich ki saari baatein usse bataogi toh ye sahi nahi hai. Aaj jo hua wo bilkul sahi nahi tha, maa aur didi dono hi bahut nirash aur udash hai, Vineet se koi aisi baatein expect nahi karta hai toh please ho sake toh usse involve maat kiya karo.” Kaushalya tells her in a calm voice, the lady had already put all the blame on her for the argument. Anamika just shook her head and left the room because if she sits explaining to them that she is not at fault they would never accept it and another argument will automatically arise.

She wonders, is everyone in the house blind? Don't they clearly see who narrates the story to vineet, yet they are blaming her about it. And how easily and securely they defend their son saying he is sensitive, really? Do they think she has a heart of stone? Or they think she is heartless? Huhh, so chauvinist and selfish. The whole family just thinks about themselves. Okay, let it be she doesn't care about such things anymore for she knows she cant change anything going around.

Letting out a deep breath, she leaves the house.

.

Vineet reaches his office, angry and disheartened. Everytime Anamika complains that he doesn't support her or doesn't speak for her. Not once but several times she had fought with him over this matter and today when he did the same for he genuinely felt his grandmother and aunt were wrong, his wife accused him of doing wrong. Like seriously? What does she expect him to do then? Does he have to speak or stand by her or not? Because she is not happy either way, he just can't understand what she wants from him.

Vineet takes his seat, his head has started to ache. He leaned back on his chair and closed his eyes to ease the pain but his mind was not at peace. He wonders what mistake did he commit that his family is behaving this way. Was falling in love a mistake? Can he have feelings for anyone? He cant deny the fact that his family loves him immensely, specially bua and dadi but it doesnt give them the right to decide everything for him. Yeah, they did want him to marry Vedika but wasn't he clear enough about it? Didn't he tell them that he doesn't hold any feelings for her other than being a friend? Why are they not ready to accept this fact? Is it that complicated?

He doesn't know what they feel but all he knows is he loves Anamika and he won't leave her at any cost.

His headache increased with every passing moment and he found it hard to sit there and concentrate anywhere else so he thought of returning home and getting some rest.

He takes his bag and heads out but bumps into someone, he immediately apologizes and moves back. It was Vedika.

“Vineet itni jaldi mei kahan jaa rahe ho?” She asks, finding him in a hurry.

“Main ghar jaa raha tha.” He replies briefly, at the moment he doesn't want to have any conversation with her but to return home.

“Kuch hua hai kya? Tum pareshan lag rahe ho.” She asks in concern.

“Nahi, sab thik hai. I just don't feel good today.” He says and leaves from there without waiting for her reply as he doesn't want to share his problem with her for she finds it not necessary to tell anything to Vedika. Vedika finds it weird but lets it go as she already feels he is in a bad mood.

..

Anamika was in a café with her long lost friend Aakash. They have met after many years and Anamika was extremely happy to meet him. After her marriage she lost contact with her friends and her parents never called her as they never wanted her to get married to Vineet whom they find much inclined towards his family but Anamika was stubborn such that her parents had to agree and now she knows they were right at their place. But now that she got to meet her bestest friend, she couldn't keep calm.

“I can't tell you how happy I am today. Itne dino badh mili tujh se toh bahut acha lag raha hai Aakash, I wish hum pehle ki tarah regular mil paate aur fir wo saari masti kar paate jo college mei karte the.” Anamika stated, expressing her happiness.

“Tera toh phone hi nahi lagta hai kabhi, jaane kahan busy rehti hai tu, Vineet toh phone tak nahi uthata hai jaldi aur agar uthata bhi hai toh busy hi rehta hai. Aur ye kya haal bana rakha hai tu ne apna, kahan toh tu aise sexy ban ke ghoomti thi poora college tera deewana tha aur abhi dekh tu koi middle class housewife lag rahi hai.” Aakash stated, rolling his eyes over her who was dressed in a simple saree.

Anamika felt a little embarrassed because this is what she got marrying to the love of her life, the place of not more than a servant in his house who works from morning till evening and gets taunts and scolds as salary.

Anamika became uneasy, she averted her eyes.

“Sach mei yaar, shadi ke badh kitna change ho gayi hai tu.. Vineet ko toh kai baar dekha hai meine news mei, wo toh kaafi fit dikhta hai, I mean he looks good!!” Aakash commented jokingly.

Anamika immediately holds onto her bag filled with vegetables,”thik hai Aakash aab mujhe chalna chahiye, bache bhi kuch waqt mei aa jaayenge school se toh mujhe dhundhenge.” She tells him and stands up, Aakash realizes he committed a mistake by pulling out the topic. He tries to stop her but she leaves without waiting. She doesn't want to sit there and show out her pain to her friend.
