Part 46
With the blink of an eye, the weekend was over, Khushi was back to Sydney again, this time with no idea when she was going to get to see Arnav again.
She was seated on her usual bench at the college, talking to Suman on a video call, when she was back in India she spent all her time with Arnav and went to see Suman at the last moment, they dint even have enough time to sit down and talk about everything so she wanted to make it up to her and that's why today, instead of calling Arnav as usual, she was talking to Suman instead.
"You are back already?" Jake asked as he interrupted her conversation and sat down beside her throwing his arm around her shoulder.
"oooh... and who is this?" Jake asked as he looked at Khushi's laptop and saw Suman who was just looking at him awkwardly.
"Go away, I'm busy." Khushi rolled her eyes at him.
"But I missed you and I want to talk to you." He pouted as he tried to hide his laughter, the expressions on Khushi's face were hilarious.
"Jake! Leave me the hell alone." Khushi said seriously.
"Okay fine, I'm going, don't come looking for me later." Jake frowned as he stood up and walked away leaving her to continue.
"You didn't tell me you found yourself a new boyfriend, here I was doubting Arnav and Saira." Suman said.
"Jake isn't my boyfriend... wait what? Why are you doubting Arnav and Saira?"
"Nothing, I just said it like that. Why was that guy being so clingy to you anyway?" Suman asked trying to divert the topic, she wasn't supposed to say this to Khushi, but it just came out, the last thing she wanted for her was to be worried about Arnav and Saira.
"Don't change the topic Suman, what's going on between them?" Khushi looked at her seriously.
"Nothing, I promise. I just don't like that girl, she seems like she's into Arnav but I talked to Arnav about it and he said there's nothing like that and that he loves you only so chill."
"Okay, anyway forget that, tell me how's everything? Did you meet any hot guy?" Khushi smirked at her.
"I don't want to talk about guys with you."
"Why? Because you dated my brother? You know I know that it was his fault right? You have all the right to move on babe."
"I know, it's just strange... loving someone for so long, how are you supposed to accept that It's just over? You need to send your brother to some anger management class." Suman rolled her eyes.
"I'm sorry Suman, I even tried to talk to him he wouldn't listen."
"It doesn't matter Khushi, I might love him but I don't want him back, I told him if he left, I would never get back with him again and I am keeping my word. Maybe I should start looking for another guy." She giggled.
"You should, I am serious. Prem doesn't deserve you."
"I know... anyway my class is about to begin, I think I should get going. Say hi to that hot friend of yours." Suman giggled.
"He was hot wasn't he?" Khushi said.
"Who was hot?" Arnav asked as he stood behind Suman looking at Khushi through Suman's phone screen.
"No one, I'm just trying to find Suman some guy." Khushi replied.
"Okay you can call each other after I disconnected the call, I need to get to my class." Suman said. Before she could disconnect the call, Saira came from behind Arnav and put her hands on his eyes blocking his view, at the exact same time when Suman disconnected the call.
Suman just looked at her and then at Arnav in disappointment as she walked away.
"Saira stop being childish." Arnav said feeling frustrated, he turned to look at her and frowned.
"I was talking to Khushi, what if she saw? I don't want her to get insecure, next time please be careful of what you do and when." Arnav shrugged as he started walking away.
"Hey, I'm sorry. I dint know you were talking to her, now don't be mad at me please." She apologized as she followed him, Arnav kept on ignoring her as he continued walking.
"Arnav come on, I was just joking, you know I usually play around like that, what's changed suddenly? I also said I was sorry."
"Okay, I accept your apology." Arnav said as he stopped walking and looked at her.
"You still seem mad at me, I am really sorry, I promise I won't behave like that again." She held both ears and pouted.
"I said it's fine, I forgive you." He smiled faintly.
"Great, thank you. I don't like it when you get mad at me." She said as she moved closer and hugged him, while Arnav just stood there awkwardly not even knowing what to do. Maybe suman was right about her, she was being too clingy, or maybe that was just her nature?
"Okay, I need to go to my class." Arnav said as he broke the hug and walked away.
*****
Khushi kept on feeling really uncomfortable about this situation, first Suman said all that about Arnav and Saira and then the way Saira just came up to Arnav just before Suman disconnected the call. There was something weird going on.
Before she could even digest that, her phone beeped and she looked at the message she had received from Prem on her WhatsApp, she opened it and downloaded the image he had sent to her.
"So much for true love and fighting with your brothers, looks like your boyfriend isn't even loyal to you." A message popped up from him. The picture he had sent was of Arnav and Saira hugging.
"So what, you spying on my boyfriend now? It's just a hug Prem, get over it, everyone hugs their friends." She typed the message, maybe Prem would get over it, but would she?
"I've got better things to do than spy on him, I was just passing by when I saw what was going on behind your back."
"Passing by to do what?"
"I had to give Suman some of her things back, she wouldn't take my calls so I had to visit her here, anyway I'm going to find her, keep up with the blind trust on him. If you get your heart broken, you will still have my shoulder to cry on and I promise I won't say 'I told you so'"
Khushi shut her laptop, put her phone in the pocket and stood up as she headed to her class, trying not to think about the picture, it was just a hug... just a hug.
She sat down and stared at the board in front of her blankly trying to process things when Jake disturbed her once again.
"Hey, you okay?" He asked.
"Yeah... yeah I'm fine." She smiled at him.
"You don't look fine. What's bothering you Khushi?" He asked.
"Okay... imagine you have a girlfriend."
"Okay, I can imagine that, what next?"
"Now imagine she has a friend, like how you and me are friends? She also has a friend that's a guy, is it okay if they hug? Jeez it sounds like stupid question, don't answer it." She shrugged.
"Did you boyfriend hug someone?" Jake asked.
"Well yeah, I know hugs are supposed to be normal but..."
"They are normal Khushi, don't beat up yourself over it. And if you don't like him hugging someone else, then I think you should tell him that, you cant just overthink things and expect him to magically know right?
If you don't like the idea of him hugging another girl even if she's just a friend then tell him that, I'm sure he would understand you, and anyway all the limits in a relationship are set by the people in it, so if you don't feel comfortable about it, just tell him." Jake advised.
"How are you good at relationship advice and you aren't in one." She giggled.
"Maybe that's why I am not in one, relationships are stupid." He laughed.
"Just wait, one day you'll fall for someone and realize you are also stupid." She giggled as he laughed along.
Maybe Jake was right, if she dint like Arnav hugging Saira, she should tell him that.
"Thanks for the advice though." Khushi said as she placed her hand on his and looked at him, he looked back at her and smiled faintly and then for the next few moments, he just stared at her.
She then stood up and walked out of the class with her phone to call him before her class began, she stood outside the class and dialed Arnav's number and waited for him to receive the call but it kept on ringing and he dint receive it.
She tried one more time but he dint receive again, so she just headed back inside the class hoping he was going to call back.
"What happened?" Jake asked as she walked back and sat down beside him.
"Nothing. I just remembered, we don't have any classes together, what are you doing here?" Khushi asked.
"I missed you when you were gone, so I thought I'd come spend some time with you." He smirked.
"You are talking as if I am you girlfriend." Khushi laughed.
"You could be." He winked at her.
"Jake stop with your jokes, you know I am with Arnav."
"I'm kidding girl, relax. I was bored so I came here hoping you would entertain me but you look like you're about to cry, dint he pick your call or something?" Jake asked.
"No he didn't." Khushi said sadly as she tried to look away so she could hide the tears, there was just so much going on in her mind currently she dint know what to think and what not to.
"Hey, it's okay, he must be busy. It'd going to be okay trust me." Jake held her hand into his and pressed it slightly.
"It's just scary... what if he... what if he falls for her. You haven't seen her, she's so perfect and I am nowhere near perfect." Khushi broke down.
"Come on Khushi, don't think that way. You are perfect. Stop crying, just talk to him and trust me everything will be fine." Jake assured her.
"Will it really be?" She continued crying as she leaned on his shoulder, while he wrapped his arm around her and tried to calm her down.
