Part 17
Arnav felt really heartbroken after Khushi turned him down for the date, he had been so happy about this and since their first date seemed like a dream to him, he thought she would be more than happy to go for another date.
But it seemed like it wasn't the same for her, maybe that date hadn't been good enough for her or maybe she wasn't interested in him, and that just somehow broke his heart.
He had really started liking her, a lot, actually more than a lot and he was really hoping of getting to know her better but now it seemed like nothing like that was going to happen.
At lunch time, everyone headed out of the class one by one to get lunch or just take a break before the next class, but Arnav decided to stay behind in the class and write down notes.
It was his first day today and his moods weren't good either so going out could just make him sadder as he dint even have any friends yet.
In no time, the whole class was empty and he was the only one in there, he finished writing his notes and then pulled out his phone from the pocket as he went through his page, reading the comments his readers had left on his story.
There were a few messages in his inbox too, he just read them all but dint reply. He would usually reply to each and every message he received and if it was from the talkative girl, he would reply as soon as he saw the text, but today having bad moods, he dint feel like talking to anyone at all.
He had kind of become close to this talkative girl, like they were good friends and they had known each other much better, she even wanted for them to meet but he wasn't sure if he was ready to meet a stranger he had just been talking to online.
Also he used to flirt a lot with her in the beginning and then he stopped once he started liking Khushi, before he used to flirt a lot with lots of girls but since he met Khushi everything changed, the only person he wanted to flirt with was Khushi but it looked like she wasn't going to be interested in him.
"Hey, you dint go for lunch?" Khushi asked as she walked back inside the classroom and sat down beside him.
"Nope, I was writing down the notes." Arnav smiled faintly as he pretended to continue writing the notes even though he had finished writing a while ago.
Khushi nodded as she sat down and then pulled out her phone to check if she had a reply from Mr. writer, she had texted him early in the morning and he would usually reply within an hour or two but today he hadn't replied until now, he had even seen her message, why dint he reply then?
"You look tensed, is everything okay?" Arnav asked as he looked at her.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Khushi said so Arnav nodded once again and then looked back at his phone as he continued doing whatever he had been doing.
"Hey look... I know it feels kind of awkward right now as we went on a date once and you asked me again but I said no. I just don't want it to be awkward, you're the only person I know around here apart from my best friend Suman, and I'd like it if we were friends.
It wouldn't be awkward and we can hang out and stuff and I'm sure you'll find some other girl here in college and you can date her." Khushi suggested.
"Sure, we can be friends." Arnav smiled. At least he was going to get to be around her and spend time with her and maybe that was going to be enough for him.
"So what do friends do and talk about? I have no idea, I've never had a guy friend." Khushi giggled.
"It's just the same as your other friends, there's not much difference. Plus won't your brothers be mad if they found out I am your friend?"
"Well what happens in college stays in college, outside of college we can always pretend to be strangers." She smirked.
"You seem like a rebel." Arnav laughed.
"Not really, my brothers like being too strict for no reason." Khushi rolled her eyes making Arnav laugh once again.
"So can I ask you something? You're okay being secretly friends with me but you can't secretly go for a date with me? If you don't like me it's okay Khushi, you can tell me that." Arnav looked at her seriously.
"Arnav I..."
"Khushi look I don't really mind being friend zoned neither do I not like taking a no for an answer, but at least you can tell me honestly why you don't want to go out with me right? It would just give me peace of mind and I won't try to ask you out again, maybe I'll move on."
"Okay... you are right. Looks it's not that I don't like you, I did that's why I even went on that date with you but... we both knew we won't meet again so I couldn't just hold on to that right?
For the past few months I've been talking to someone and I like him, so it's not that I don't like you, maybe if I wouldn't have liked him then there were chances that I would like you, it's just that I'm interested in someone else right now."
"Looks like I'm late then. Anyway I appreciate the honestly and now we can really be friends." Arnav smiled.
"Wow, I dint know telling the truth was this easy." She giggled.
"It is always easy." Arnav smiled.

When Khushi arrived home later in the evening, she found Krystle seated in the hall all alone, none of her brothers seemed to be around.
"Hey." Khushi smiled as she walked towards her and sat down beside her.
"Hey."
"You are here alone or?"
"No, I came along with Arjun, we had to get some documents and take them to a client, he forgot the file at home, so he's upstairs in his room looking for it while I wait here." Krystle explained.
"Oh okay... and how is your friendship." Khushi winked.
"Good." Krystle blushed. "What about you... and that guy we met in Shimla." Krystle asked.
"Which guy are you two talking about?" Arjun asked as he walked down the stairs while Khushi looked at him nervously.
"Umm... there was this guy I met in Shimla, he asked me for a date and Khushi was with me so she was asking me about it." Krystle said immediately.
Khushi inhaled a deep breath and felt relaxed as Krystle helped her out, if Arjun found out that she had met a guy or even talked to one, he was going to be pissed.
"Oh... how come I don't know about it?" Arjun looked at Krystle, he seemed angry but it was like he was trying to hide the anger.
"I just... I dint think you would want to know."
"Of course I would want to know Krystle, I thought we were friends. So did you go out with him or?" Arjun asked.
"We are friends?" Krystle smiled and blushed at the same time.
"I asked if you went on the date or not?"
"No, I dint, I mean there was no point he lived in Shimla and I here so I refused." Krystle said.
"Don't worry, I'm sure you will find some good guy from here, remember you were telling me that you joined a dating site so did you find any good guy there?" Khushi asked, Krystle looked at her in confusion wondering when she said anything about a dating site.
"Why are you on a dating site?" Arjun looked at her seriously.
"It's like I don't even know you Krystle." He said as he headed out of the house angrily while Khushi laughed at his reaction.
"Why did you lie Khushi? I am not on any site?" Krystle asked.
"Come on, I mean dint you see how jealous he was? I just lied to see if he was going to get mad and he actually did, you know what that means? He had started liking you." Khushi said as she jumped up and down excitedly.
"I don't believe that." Krystle shrugged.
"Just go out and go wherever you were going, I'm sure, you'll realize it on your way, he is jealous Krystle, I know my brother very well and he has never acted like this. I mean he's always stayed away from girls, so basically you are the only girl in his life and now that he has learnt that you're trying to find someone he doesn't like it." Khushi said.
"Seriously, you do stuff much bigger than your age." Krystle laughed.
"What can I say? I love match making." Khushi giggled as Krystle rushed outside and followed Arjun who was already inside the car, she opened the door and sat inside.
"So when were you going to tell me about all of this?" Arjun asked.
"I just thought I wouldn't... I mean it's something personal, and if I want to date someone why would I tell you about it?"
"So now you'll start dating someone you don't even know?"
"What's wrong in that? A lot of people do it nowadays, plus one day or the other I do have to find someone right, it's not like I am going to be single forever." Krystle said trying to hide the smile on her face. Khushi was right, Arjun was kind of getting jealous.
"Fine, it's your life, do whatever you want." He shrugged as he turned on the car and drove off.
