Chapter 6

Crowds of people filled the arena, chattering loudly in excitement. Everyone wanted to see their princes compete in the tournament. Both princes were said to be the greatest jousters in all of Europe.

Queen Evelyn looked over the crowd, looking poised and elegant as ever. Next to her was her husband, who was holding her hand tightly. As she looked over the crowds of people, she spotted a girl in a blue dress. She was one of the only girls in blue in the arena, since blue wasn't in aristocratic fashion at the time. She saw that Wesley was with her as well, which only confused her more. "What is troubling you mon fleur?" The king as, looking at his wife. "That girl in blue, with Wesley, who is she?" She asks, looking at the two, before looking at her husband. "My gods, is that Lilly?" The king asks as he catches a glimpse at the girls face from under the veil. "It isn't, is it? No, it can't be. She looks too young to be Lilly. Plus, look, she has Aldwin's bright blue eyes."

Though they were across the stadium, her blue eyes shown clearly. "You don't think it could be one of their children do you?" Evelyn asks Arthur. "It has to be? By why is she with Wesley? Is he her mate?" Arthur replied back, looking at his wife. "Maybe, but it would seem a bit odd. You know Amare doesn't usually do that. Unless you don't think?" Evelyn gasps at the thought. "We'll have to see. Right now, we must announce the visiting royals."

•••••••••••••••••••••

Marigold walked through, following Wesley, a look of aw on her face. She had never been to a joust before, and didn't realize how big the stadium was, nor how many people came.
"Is it usually like this?" She asks her guide, her eyes still looking over the scene. "No, usually it isn't this crowded. It's only this crowded because Braxton and another prince are facing an off," Wesley says, as he guides her through the crowds of people. Finally, he spots an opening, and guides who to the little opening. It was small, but there was enough room for two people. She looked at the view from the seat, before sitting down, making sure the skirt of her dress didn't get messed up. Thankfully, they were up high enough so there was no worry of splinters. The view was fairly good, though she didn't know if that was good or bad. She looked over from where she was sitting and noticed the king and queen looking over in her direction. 'That's strange' she says to herself as looks over at them, before turning to Wesley. Right as she is about to ask him something, trumpets sound loudly, causing a squeak to escape her mouth.

Thankfully, the trumpets covered the squeak. People started cheering and standing up, making loud hooting noises hooting noises.

Marigold stood up but was still unable to see over all their heads. She sighed, picked up her skirts, and stepped up onto the beck she was sitting on. She turned back around saw what they were seeing. People were coming onto the balcony on her side. And just as the cheering started, it immediately stopped, making the stadium almost deadly silent. Then, the king's voice boomed over the crowd. "My subjects! Today we have visitors joining us! Today we have the royal family from Gwenyd here with us! Their son, Prince Darwyn will be competing against my son Prince Braxton! Now that everything is settled, let the competition begin!" Cheers could be heard from everyone, as well as people stomping and clapping. The announcer stood up and started announcing the competitors.

As Prince Braxton was announced everyone stood up and cheered. He looked quite magnificent in his shining armor. Making his way out on his horse. He made his way over to my side, looking up into the crowds and seeing her. He sends her a charming smile that causes her cheeks to flush. She hides it under her veil though, not wanting to get teased. He makes way over to where the visiting royal family is. She holds her breath as she watched a light hand hold something out to him. He takes it and holds it close to his chest. She was giving him a token of good luck. She scowls at the sight and growls a little. She was his mate. Not the girls.

He walks over to his side, before trumpets sound again. The other prince walks out, causing both roars from the crowd again. He was handsome, with black, almost bluish hair. He had deep blue eyes, that scanned over the crowd. They seemed to land on her as he made is way over on his horse. When he reached her side, he lifted up his weapon and pointed it at her. It reached her, and she scrambled before giving him the only thing she could think of. She quickly untied the ribbon from her hair, kissed it, and tied it to the spear he smiled and brought it down, untying it from the top before tying it to the handle of the spear. She smiled, her cheeks red. She couldn't believe she did that. She looked over and saw Braxton growling, looking like he wanted to kill other guy. He almost looked funny.

She watched as the other prince walked away, going over to his side. She could feel looks on her face, causing her cheeks to get even redder.
Tension filled the air as the two princes looked at each other. The visiting prince looked as smug could be, while Braxton looked like he wanted to kill him. Slowly, both put on their helmets on, eyes only locked on each other. They brought the poles up and got into position, readying for the impacts they knew they both each feel. Braxton turned his head, glancing up at Marigold one last time before closing the helmet and looking forward at his opponent.

Darwyn closed his helmet as well, waiting for the judge. A lean man walks out on a podium, looking over the crowd. Everything is quiet as he stands up there. The tension in the was thick in the air. Everyone held their breaths as they waited for the man to the word.

"Begin!"

Braxton and Darwyn raced toward each other, the sound of hooves hitting the ground, the clanging on wood on metal and cheers rang out out in the stadium.

The competition had begun.
