Chapter 5

Gasps could be heard all around them, and Marigold could feel all eyes on her as she said the word. Braxton looked away from her, much to her displeasure, to look at the crowd around them. She heard him growl a little, before he took her by the arm, and pulled her into a closed off alleyway, praying to Luna that no one went after them. Finally when he thought they were in area where no one would interrupt them, he let go of Marigold's arm. She rubbed her arm a little, where he grabbed her a bit sore. She looked up at the prince, unsure of what to say.

"I'm sorry if I hurt you. I just had to get away from the crowd. I wished to talk to you privately, with no one eavesdropping," Braxton says, running his fingers through his hair. "I understand your majesty. And I'm not hurt," Marigold murmurs quietly, making sure not to make eye contact with the prince. "Braxton" he says, looking at her. "Huh?" she says, looking up at him, only for her eyes to meet his.

She sucked in a shaky breath, mesmerized by the depths of his rich, chocolate brown eyes. But she saw there were little specks of gold hidden in his eyes.

Braxton looked down at her, his eyes looking into hers. Her eyes were beautiful, like the sky on a clear day, or the waters of the south.

"You don't need to call me 'your majesty' or any title like that. Just call me Braxton," the prince says, looking away, turning his whole body, as he begins to pace. "But your majesty, it's wrong. I'm only the daughter of a farmer. I'm not a royal. I am just a lowly peasant girl," the girl says, her eyes wide, her heart beating fast in her chest. "Really? Wow, you look like the daughter of a great noble, or a merchant. And anyway, it's not wrong. You are my mate. And since you are my mate, that makes us equals," Braxton says, taking her hands in his. Sparks could be felt by both when they touched. She gasped at the feeling. She had never felt something like that before. It wasn't really sparks, but like a good feeling tingle. A feeling that she didn't want to go away. "I-I........... Okay," she sighs looking at him before looking away.
A bell could be heard ringing throughout the town. "Shoot! I forgot the tournament starts in 30 minutes, and I still have to suit up," he mumbles, growling a little at the end. "Go. I don't want to be the reason you are late," she says, looking at him.
He nods, turning to leave, before turning back, realizing he forgot to ask her something. "Are you coming to the tournament?" He asks, looking at her. "I don't know," she murmurs, "And even if I wanted to, I don't know if I can. I'm not of descent of a ruler or nobility." "You look the part though. No one will even suspect that you aren't the daughter of a nobleman," he says. "Alright, I'll go," she says, smiling a little.
When Braxton saw her smile, he smiled as well. She looked so beautiful smiling, and he wanted to make her smile all the time. "I will accompany you over, where you will stay with my friend. I want to make sure that you are watched," he says, "And I don't want anyone touching what is mine."
••••••••••••••••••••
Marigold was currently standing inside a tent. It was a deep red, providing a good amount of shade. Braxton was outside, getting his armor getting put on by Westley. She had never been to these types of tournaments. Though she thought they were a great way to show skills off, she wasn't one for fighting.
Braxton and Westley strode into the tent. Wesley looked on the verge of breaking a sweat while Braxton stood strong and confident, the armor adding to the effect. Marigold looked at him, offering him a small smile. He smiled back walking over to her. "I forgot I had something to give to you," he says. He moved to a table and and picks up a necklace. He walks back over to her, holding the necklace in the palm of his hand. "This is for me?" She asks, looking at the necklace in awe. It was the necklace that Braxton had purchased in the market. She lightly touched it, but didn't pick it up. "It's your's, take it," he says, moving his hand closer to her. Hesitantly, she picked up the necklace, looking at it, I soft smile on her lips. It was beautiful. Nicer then anything she'd ever owned. "It's beautiful," she said softly, "I love it." Those were the only words Braxton need to hear. He held out his hand, silently asking for the necklace back. She gently placed the necklace in his hand again, having not gotten the message at first. He looked over at Wesley, needing help to put the necklace on her. His gloves restricted him from some actions including this.
Wesley saw the look and immediately came to his aid. He took the necklace from his friend, and looked at Marigold. "Would you like to wear it now?" Braxton asks, looking at Marigold, "Wesley can help put it on. I would, but my hands are about restricted under my gloves." Marigold looked at Braxton, almost in a daze. The necklace was so beautiful, and she couldn't believe it was hers. Slowly, she nodded her head, unsure of what to say. She gently moved her hair so that Westley wouldn't have trouble when clasping the necklace together. Westley places the necklace around her neck, before clasping together. Once finished, he moves away so that she could fix her hair. The necklace gel surprisingly light and the metal didn't feel cold against her. "Thank you," she says to Braxton, a nervous smile gracing her lips. She was still in a state of shock of this all. "Your welcome," Braxton replies, smiling softly. His lips open to say something, but before he could say anything, a bell rang out loudly. "That's my cue. Westley, you know what to do," he says, looking over at his friend. Westley nods, looking back at Braxton.
Braxton turns and starts to but is stopped by a hand touching his. Marigold couldn't believe the courage she gather s in her, as she went up to him. She wanted to wish him good luck, but she didn't have a token to give him, so she did the only thing she could do. "Good luck," she says, going up on her toes and placing a light kiss on his cheek. She could already feel her cheeks Turing red from the actions. "Thank you," Braxton says, taking her hand and kissing, a small smile toying on his lips as her noticed how red her cheeks were turning. After that, Braxton left he tent and went to mount his horse, Westley following after him and helping on the horse, before grabbing the rest of his gear for him. Marigold stood there, watching the whole scene silently. All she could think about was his breath taking Braxton looked in his armer. His armer shining under the sunlight, making him look stunning. She follows after them as Westley leads Braxton over to the entrance that he would be going through, her eyes looking all around at the other bright color tents, as well as stores and black smiths. She knew that celebrating the fall harvests were a huge deal, but she didn't think it was this huge.
"Take her to her seat now, the match is starting very soon," Braxton says to Westley, who in turns nods, smiling at his friend, "Will do. Don't die. And don't kill your opponent," Westley says. In turn, Braxton rolls his eyes, "I'll try not too." He turn too look at Marigold, who was fidgeting with the necklace, if ding it soothing to know it was there. He smiled at her, and she in turn smiled back. Her eyes stayed on him, till she felt a hand on her arm. She turned to see Westley holding her arm. She nods, and let him guide her to their seats, though she didn't really focus much. All she could focus was the idea of Braxton dying. She had just met him. She didn't want to loose him. As she glanced back one last time as they walked away, seeing the determined look on his face.
Please don't die.

And I finally update after forever! I'm going to make the chapters shorter so I can write more chapters! Hope everyone doing alright!
