7/11

It's 12 am and we talk about

our past and our future,

the people we want to become,

the people we want to forget.

I could see the hope in your eyes,

and I just want to hear you keep talking.

I see you at 8 am, with your guilty smile

as you walk in

because we planned to meet at 7

and you kept me waiting again.

I shake my head. I'm not surprised.

Never were you early for anything.

It's 6 pm,

with your half-eaten ice cream

and we sit in silence

thinking of different things

but basking in each other's company.

This city is fast-paced.

People are always on the rush,

quick to come and quick to go

but as we sit on this bench

time ticks a little slow.

I smile but I don't know what for.

Maybe because I never thought

I would find peace

in a little convenience store.
