02 : but you just said that it was amazing
Mark was very excited to see Thiago Alcântara again.
So, he spent the week being a pain in the ass with everyone.
"What's wrong with your brother, these days?" Anneliese, their mother, asked on Friday afternoon, when she was alone with Constanze in the kitchen.
"He just needs a chill pill, nothing new here," Constanze answered, looking everywhere around her.
"What are you looking for, exactly? Don't you wanna take a break from here?"
Constanze shook her head. No way. Her mom was always the one serving the customers, sometimes with the help of Mark, but not Constanze. Simply because Constanze didn't know how to talk to the customers without looking annoyed and sounding rude. She wasn't even doing that on purpose, she was just not good at that. Anyway, she was better here, on the back, alone with her ingredients.
"Fine," her mom gave up, accustomed. "Call your brother if you need help."
"I will," she said, but let's be honest, she won't.
So, she stayed in the kitchen the whole afternoon. The only time she opened her mouth was to ask Mark if they were running out of something, and since they weren't, she decided to do something that she used to do a lot when she was younger: to create a new cake.
Well, she was probably not "creating" it, because someone somewhere probably already got the idea. But when coming to the bakery was only something that she was doing for fun, Constanze used to take several ingredients and to mix them with each other. Usually, it wasn't really good, but that was the whole point: she was baking because she loved baking. She loved to mix the ingredients together; she loved to see those same ingredients becoming something sweet and beautiful. Eating it wasn't her goal at all.
So, she took some shredded coconut, some orange and lemon peels, some black and some white chocolate, and she mixed that up, thinking that it wasn't that bad-okay, maybe the white chocolate was too much, but it wasn't absolutely disgusting. She then put the mixture in paper cups and then directly in the oven.
On the other side of the bakery, Mark was almost dying every time someone was opening the door. His mom was talking with his dad in the back, so, he could be weird without anyone noticing it. And when Thiago entered the bakery with Rafinha, he was actually glad that none of his parents were around.
"Good afternoon," Thiago smiled, recognizing the boy, and Mark almost died.
"Oh, um, yeah, hi," he said before shaking his head. "Sorry, that was weird."
"It's fine, it's just the two of us, our mom is not around," Thiago answered, and Mark nodded his head.
"What would you like to eat?" he asked to the brothers, and Rafinha started to look at all the cake, amazed.
"Excuse him, he's a little weird since birth," Thiago said, and Mark smiled. "His girlfriend owns a bakery too, so he doesn't wanna eat something that she bakes, because he feels like he's cheating."
Mark wanted to say that it was actually cute, but Constanze entered in the room, her mouth full and the rest of the muffin in her hand.
"Hey Mark, I cooked something really weird and it's actually amazing, you totally should try it like righ-oh, hi," she cut herself, seeing that they weren't alone at all.
Thiago and Rafael were both looking at her as if she was saying something really interesting, which wasn't the case.
"I do wanna try it," Thiago said, and she shook her head.
"Uh, that's probably not a good idea, there's plenty of-"
"But you just said that it was amazing."
Constanze bit her lip, hesitant. She wasn't lying, she thought it was amazing, but they already had a bad experience with the bakery, so if he thought it was disgusting, she would never see them again. And they were hot. That was out of question.
"Fine," she said, and Thiago smiled. "I'll bring you one."
"I want one too!" Rafinha said.
Constanze nodded before leaving the Alcântaras with his brother. What a fucking bad timing. She took three muffins and went back in the room, where his brother and Thiago were talking together, leaving Rafael alone watching the cake, which was apparently not a problem for him.
"Did you change your mind?" she asked him, hopefully.
"Nope, this muffin of yours looks really good," he said, and Constanze sighed before giving one to him, and the other one to Thiago. Mark took the last one, even though he wasn't supposed to eat in front of the customers. He was curious as well, after all.
"If you wanna spit it, just say it, I won't take it badly. I was just bored when I made those without any recipe, so I-"
"It's not that bad," Mark cut her off. "But there's something weird."
"I think that's the white chocolate," Rafinha nodded.
"That's the best muffin I've ever had in my entire life."
Constanze, Mark and Rafael looked at Thiago, puzzled. Because he wasn't kidding. He looked really in love with the weird muffin.
"How..." Mark said.
"But the white chocolate..." his brother mumbled, frowning.
"That's clearly the best part. You were right," he looked at Constanze. "It's amazing."
"Thank you," Constanze said, really surprised. "I'm glad you like it."
"Can I have another one?"
He ended up eating four muffins while Rafinha was eating a gingerbread cupcake. Mark and Constanze were obviously keeping them company, their parents still nowhere to be found-and it was not a problem at all.
They spent two hours in the bakery before leaving-Rafinha was going home later that day, so, he had to pack his things.
"I'm glad we gave this bakery a second chance," the youngest smiled.
"Yeah, me too. I'll bring some of my teammates with me soon," Thiago added, and Mark was almost suffocating.
More Bayern players in his parents' bakery? Hell yeah.
They bid their goodbyes to each other, and the football players left the bakery, Rafinha sinsongy, Thiago in his thoughts.
"So?" Rafael said, once in his brother car.
"So what?"
"So...were you pretending to find the muffin good?"
"No, what the fuck," Thiago frowned. "I was serious. It was amazing. And the white chocolate was the best part."
"I'm trying not to judge your taste right now, but it's really hard."
"Shut up, Rafa."
"I actually thought you were pretending just to impress the girl."
"Why the hell would I do that?"
"C'mon, T., that's why we came here in the first place."
"No. You said it, we came here to give them a second chance, because they clearly deserved it. And the boy loves Bayern."
"Sure. Anyway, you have to keep up updated on this."
"On what, exactly?"
"You and the girl. Fuck, do you realize that we don't even know her name?"
"Can you stop talking about it by using "we"? You have a girlfriend, remember her?"
"So, you like her?"
"I don't know her, Rafa, for fuck's sake. I cannot like someone that I don't know."
"However..."
"However," Thiago sighed, "I think that she's cute."
Rafael smiled.
"As I said, keep me updated."
