Mini Drabble IX: So Unawesome

Prussia paced back and forth, anxiously picking at the skin around his nails. He wanted to do this right. But he was scared of what the outcome may be if he didn't make this whole day perfect.

"Things won't go wrong." Prussia muttered. "Nothing will go wrong because I am me. And I am the master of this sort of deal."

As confident as his accented voice sound, deep down he knew he was wrong. Prussia had no experience with relationships. The closest he had ever come to being in love was with Hungary, and she was more of a 'Maybe if I make fun of her more these feelings will go away' sort of thing. And those feelings did faded away about a century after she had married Austria.

But Dreamz. Dreamz was different. At first he was in utter denial of his feelings for them. He couldn't be in love with a human; humans were totally lame compared to his immortal glory! Plus his little brother was close to Dreamz, and he didn't want to intrude on Ludwig's happiness. But as the months went on he found himself growing more attached to the Australian, and Ludwig showed no sign of furthering his relationship with Dreamz.

Maybe this was Gilbert's purpose.

He used to have a purpose. He used to help lead his country, the great Prussia. But Adolf Hitler coming to power in the 1930s and declaring that all German states were no longer separate unions had triggered Prussia's downfall. After World War II, the Allies officially dissolved his state, his entire purposes.

But Gilbert was starting to think Dreamz was his new purpose; to care for them and help them with their anxiety and self-esteem. They would claim they don't need his help, and that was okay. Prussia would still do what he could for them. They were worth it.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang and his thoughts were snapped back to reality. His heart seized.

"Uh, who is it?" He called loud enough for the person outside to hear.

"Seriously, Gil? You're gonna invite me over and ask who's at the damn door?" The voice of Dreamz rang out and Prussia cursed to himself. He ran to his room, quickly throwing off his clothes and changing into the more formal wear he had set out. Then, he ran to the door where Dreamz sounded like they were ready to rip his throat out.

"Sometimes, Gilbert, I just want to hang you by your pinky toe. You know that? Why? Because you're always pulling his crap. I didn't have to put on nice clothes today, like you asked, but I did anyways. So stop being an ass and-" At that, Prussia managed to open the door, which caused Dreamz to pause in surprise.

Dreamz looked different when they weren't wearing loose clothes. They wore a deep blue tux that shimmered slightly whenever they moved. Their red hair was pinned up in the back, giving it a very short appeared, while they bangs were curled and brushed out, giving them a look like ocean waves across their forehead. Their makeup wasn't heavy, only there to compliment their features: winged eyeliner, mascara, and a bit of lip gloss.

Prussia smiled, leaning against the frame of the doorway. "You clean up nicely, Bunny." He complimented, stepping aside so they could come in.

Dreamz glared at the nickname but knew there was no use in arguing with Prussia over his new favorite nickname for them. Instead, they smoothed out their tux, not used to wearing such fancy clothes. "Why did you want me to dress up, anyways, Gil? This is extremely uncomfortable."

"Because, Herr, I'm taking you out to dinner tonight." He announced, flashing them a confident smile, although he thought any minute that his heart might explode through his rib cage.

Dreamz blinked, their greenish-blue eyes glinting in confusion. "Dinner? As in like, a date?"

"Ja, I thought it would be fun. But we should leave soon, our reservation is for four."

"It's 4:03."

"Well, we better start going, Dreamzie! No time to waste!" Prussia breathed. "Go out to the car, I'll meet you there."

Dreamz eyed him suspiciously now, but obeyed, pulling at the bottom of their tux once more as they made their way to Prussia's car.

Prussia exhaled, gasping for air that he hadn't even realized he needed. He sighed in irritation, forcing himself to stand erect and puffed out his chest. "Stop acting so unawesome." He scolded himself
and began for the door. Before he could get there, however, he heard a shrill chirp, and glanced over to see Gilbird fluttering towards him with a bouquet pink common heath and golden wattle.

Gilbert took it quickly, thanking his feather friend before he made his way to the car, hopping in the driver's seat as he handed Dreamz the bouquet.

"What?" They questioned, their eyes widening. "Gil- they're beautiful."

Prussia smile. "I was hoping you would like it."

Dreamz glanced at Prussia as he pulled out of the driveway. Their face flushed slightly and they swallowed, suddenly feeling nervous as they held the bouquet to their chest. They had no idea Prussia could be this sweet.
