LXXVII. FRIENDS [Nekotalia]
I make a reference to me knowing the names of Nyo!Canda and Nyo!Hope. Remember, even though I haven't finished the "Swapped" arc, this Drabble takes place afterwards.
Enjoy!

America and Shelby stood in the entrance to the living room, arms crossed as they observed the scene taking place before them.
On one side of the living, Catnada kneaded the ground anxiously, his cream-colored, fluffy coat bristled slightly, his violet eyes trained on the ground. Opposite of him was Moose, who was curled in a ball on the ground, her face completely buried and her ears pressed to her head. In between the two were a utterly clueless looking AmeriCat and Snowball.
Now, you're probably wondering why in the world Alfred and Shelby were even looking at the cat versions of Matthew and Hope. They woke up this morning with the two on opposite sides of the porch. America took them and, assuming they had just escaped from Canada's house, attempted to return them, but, Canada's house was utterly abandoned. Matthew had obviously left- where, his brother had no clue- and dropped his animals off to be taken care of.
Now, this was the situation taking place.
"It's so strange. They are literally imitating their human counterparts." Shelby muttered. "I wonder if Madeline and Hayden are going through the same thing."
"No clue dude, but it's unsettling." America shifted uncomfortably. "Usually we're the ones fighting."
Shelby nodded solemnly. "It's refreshing, yet... Unnerving." Her frown deepened. "I don't like it."
"Me neither... I should try and call him, make sure he's okay."
Shelby scoffed. "Yeah, check on Matthew like he's the one who was lied to. I'm calling Hope."
With that, the two left the cats to their own devices.
AmeriCat looked back and forth between his brother and his ex-mate. "Why are they here again?" He inquired, his bright irises landing on the smaller, fluffy grey cat next to him.
His partner, Snowball, shifted her paws uncomfortably. "Their humans dropped them off this morning- they are literally imitating their cat counterparts." The grey feline muttered. "I wonder if Canaline and Elk are going through the same thing."
"No clue dude, but it's unsettling." AmeriCat's tail swished across the floor. "Usually we're the ones fighting."
Snowball nodded in agreement. "It's refreshing, yet... Unnerving." Her frown deepened, and one of her ears flicked. "I don't like it."
"Me neither, bro. Should we talk to them or something?"
"No, I don't really think it's our fight to get involved in. But we could comfort..." Snowball's meow trailed off as she felt the ground begin to shake slightly, and in seconds, Apollo burst into the room, racing towards the pair with his tongue lolling.
"HAI FRIENDS!" He yipped eagerly, headbutting AmeriCat and knocking him over. "PLAY? PLAY?"
"Not right now, dude!" AmeriCat hissed, scrambling up and pressing his ears to his head.
"Yeah, Apollo, we have guests." Snowball explained as Apollo buried his nose in her fur, sniffing her vigorously.
"NEW FRIENDS?"
"Yes."
"I PLAY WITH THEM!"
"No, Apollo, they're fighting right now. We should leave them alone."
"THEY MAD AT EACH OTHER?"
Snowball sighed in relief that he understood. "Yes, Apollo, they are mad at each other."
"OHHHHHHH." Apollo paced the floor in thought, and his tail began wagging rapidly. "I HELP!"
AmeriCat's eyes widened. "Apollo no!"
"I HELP I HELP!" He barked, before racing straight at Catnada. "HI NEW FRIEND I APOLLO I HELP YOU!"
Catnada, not really paying attention to anything before this instant, was not expecting a golden retriever puppy to come racing at him, and spat in surprise, his fur standing on end as he tore the carpet with his claws as he ejected himself under the couch. Apollo stuck his muzzle in after him, but soon moved and raced towards Moose.
"NEW FRIEND I HELP I HELPFUL!" He barked, standing over her and lapping the fur between her shoulders. Moose screeched, jumping up and smacking Apollo in the face before racing under the chair.
Apollo looked after Moose, before looking after Catnada. His tail stopped wagging, and he began whimpering.
"They not like me."
"Nah, dude, they're just hella touchy right now." AmeriCat explained.
"Plus you're a bit overbearing, bud." Snowball frowned, padding up to him slowly.
Apollo cocked his head. "You like Apollo?"
"I like Apollo." Snowball concurred.
"Me too, dude." AmeriCat purred, walking towards them and nuzzling both Apollo's leg and Snowball's cheek.
Apollo instantly perked up. "I HAVE FRIENDS!"

Also ignore the fact that cats and dogs are two different species.
