LXXVI. The Swap pt. 4
I forgot to point this out in the last two parts- you probably noticed that Jett and Dreamz are still friends in this arc. This is because I started writing this arc before Dreamz crushed the friendship :) lol the salt is still so real in my heart.
Anyways, that's why they're still friends here, just to clarify.
Also I felt like this part was getting boring near the end so it basically turned into a crappy sitcom I apologize.

"Spencer?" A female voice called, and Hope peered outside the door she opened. She flashed a smile at Matthew, before looking back to the American. "We're about to watch a movie if you two wanna join."
Matthew frowned in confusion. "What happened to dinner, eh?"
"Well, with England and New Zealand still looking for those notes, Jett decided that it would be better to watch a movie than just sitting around awkwardly." Hope explained as the two boys stood up and made their way inside.
As Spencer pasted Hope, he heard her giggle. He turned, raising a confused brow. "What's up?"
Hope couldn't help but smile. "You're the male version of Shelby, but you still aren't as tall as me. We're the same height."
Spencer groaned. "Okay, you really are the girl version of Hayden." He stated in exasperation, making Hope laugh even harder as they made their way inside. Everything seemed to have settled down inside. Jett was completely sprawled out on the couch, with Dreamz sitting at the end, a throw-pillow between them to keep the country from kicking her. Hope and Canada took their place in a loveseat, Hope leaning into her boyfriend as he gently placed an arm around her, pulling her closer and placing a kiss on the top of her head. It was strange to see Canada so confident around his partner; Madeline was no where near so.
Spencer sat down in a chair, glancing around the room. "Where's Amel- er, Alfred, where's Alfred?"
"He went back to see Eyebrows, see if he can help get Shelby back. As entertained as he is that you're here, he's not too happy that she's not." Jett explained casually, stretching his feet so that they went over the pillow Dreamz set out, touching her face with them.
She hissed, swatting his limbs away. "You can't call Arthur Eyebrows when you have bushy eyebrows too, you airhead."
Spencer laughed. "The male version of Rose does have quite the set of caterpillars on his forehead, don't he?"
Canada raised a brow. "Rose doesn't?"
"Nah, her eyebrows are pretty normal. She does have glasses though." Spencer explained.
Jett rolled over on his side to face him."What about me and Coops, yeah? Do the shelia versions of us have the curse?"
"The curse?" Spencer, Dreamz, and Hope all echoed the same thought.
"Yes, the eyebrow curse! Does Kylie have it?"
Spencer had to try very hard to suppress a smile and not laugh. "No, Kylie and Cynthia have normal eyebrows too."
"Lucky bunch." Jett growled.
The group fell silent as the movie started. Spencer couldn't help but smile when he realized it was the first Harry Potter movie. Everyone seemed rather pleased with the choice, except Jett, who groaned that he didn't want to watch 3 eleven year olds, whom he could hardly understand past their posh accents. Spencer decided not to point out that Australian and British accents where very similar, but he and Hope locked eyes, shaking their heads.
Meanwhile, in the other room, Arthur, Alfred, and Cooper were hard at work, searching for the notes in the chaos of the storage room.
"This is madness." Arthur huffed, angrily tossing aside several papers, which then scattered the floor. "I can't believe it's taking this long to find the ghastly notes."
"I can't believe you lost my girlfriend in a mirror." Alfred stated, shifting a few boxes of junk out of the way.
"Well, it's not like I meant it." England stuttered with a bit of venom in his tone, but the flush on his face told his two younger brothers that he felt extremely bad. He shoved on tower of boxed filled with old procession, his thick brows furrowed in frustration. "This is just bloody ridiculous!"
"Arthur."
"It may have been centuries, but I have kept everything I've ever owned!"
"Obviously." America muttered.
"Arthur." Cooper repeated.
"When this whole mess is over with, I am going to completely organize this room, from 1200 to now, in alphabetical order, separating charms, spells, potions, and miscellaneous where all those other minuscule branches of the art go-"
"That's nice dude. Could you maybe stop talking and find the notes for the stupid mirror so I can have Shelby back?"
"Arthur please," Cooper hissed with a bit of a harsh tone, causing both his older brothers heads' to whip around. He instantly backtracked the firm demeanor and held up the mess of paper. "I found the notes."
"Oh, thank Ole Glory." America sighed, "Thanks Coops. I was wrong about you being useless."
"... When did you ever say I was useless?"
"Exactly."
"Oh, thank you New Zealand." There was complete relief in England's voice as he rushed over and looked over the notes. "Yes yes, this is great. Let's see..." His fingers ran down the page, his green eyes flinting over the words briefly as he searched for the correct directions. "Will you go get Spencer please?"
"Yes." Cooper nodded, walking briskly out of the room, leaving Alfred to look around with a lost look, rocking back and forth on her heels.
England then turned to the mirror. The glass was still opaque, completely fogged on the inside. He read over the notes, before reaching his hand out, pressing it to the mirror. "Considerate locum in speculo." He said slowly, and with each word, the glass began to vibrate. The color began to fade, and within seconds, figures were visible on the other side of the portal. Arthur removed his hand, and he could see his counterpart do the same. In the background, he could see the female version of America rocking back and forth on the heels of her boots. Shelby was no where to be seen, but if this was a parallel dimension, she was likely in the other room with the other counterparts.
"Whoa, dude. That's seriously wicked." America muttered. "Wait, is that me over there?" Alfred began walking up to the mirror, and the girl followed suit on the other side. "Oh my God, I'm freaking hot! Are you seeing this, bro?"
"Yes, Alfred, I am seeing this." England sighed.
"I would date me. Would you date me?"
"You need to stop talking. Please."
"Alrightly, mate, I'm ready to see some Houdini magic." Australia called as the group walked in, Spencer's eyes wide and alert as he entered, his gaze instantly landing on the mirror. On the other side of the portal, Shelby did the exact same.
Instantly, Alfred's eyes lit up. "Shelbaroni! There she is! Hey hey! Hon! It's me, Alfred!" He shouted into the mirror, trying to look past Amelia, but since she was trying to do the exact same thing, they looked utterly ridiculous bobbing their heads back and forth.
"Oh, come on, Amelia, pull yourself together." Spencer muttered, shaking his head, though he had a slight smile on his face.
"Alright, Spencer, I think the safest bet is to... Just imitate what we did last time." Arthur decided, shooing Alfred away as Spencer stepped forward. Spencer didn't need Arthur to guide him from here. Instantly, he pressed his hand to the glass, Shelby following on the other side. Spencer couldn't help but lock eyes with her. If there was one gender swapped person he had wanted to meet, it would have been his counterpart. Shelby and he were supposed to be similar, but he was sure they could have been able to pick out differences. He wondered what her voice sounded like. He already knew what her hand felt like...
Which he couldn't feel.
Shelby seemed to realize this as well, as both their eyes widened. "England, wait."
And then England rammed into his back, smashing Spencer face first into the mirror.
"Oh that looked painful." Hope whispered as her and Canada cringed.
"Arthur you're a fucking moron." Dreamz stated.
Spencer staggered to his feet. "I... I can't feel her hand. It's not gonna work like that again."
"Okay, maybe we should use the spell that swaps them?" Cooper suggested.
"There's a spell?" Australia laughed.
"There's a spell and you let me run into the mirror?" Spencer asked, holding his nose with an icy glare in his eyes.
"I just- I thought maybe it would work a second time." England flushed. "I apologize."
"Good lord." Spencer mumbled. "Can we please just do the spell? I want to go home."
"I got it." Cooper muttered.
"Don't let him do it." Dreamz warned. "He never does magic right."
"Okay, you guys are bullies." New Zealand sighed. "Spencer, please place your hand on the mirror." Spencer did as he was told. Cooper took a deep breath, walking forward and placing a hand on his shoulder. Spencer could see Cynthia doing the same thing to Shelby. "Erudi illos ex adverso orbe terrarum et transibit."
The mirror began to glow white bright at his words, and everyone shielded their eyes as a blinding flash filled the room. Once it faded, the mirror remained opaque once more, the other side no longer visible. However, standing with her hand pressed to mirror was Shelby rather than Spencer.
"Oh thank God," Cooper sighed, slumping against the wall.
"SHELBY!" Alfred smiled, scooping her and spinning her around as he laughed. "I missed you so much! For a second there I thought I was gonna have to become gay for the male you!"
"Alfred I was gone for like 2 hours. Settle yourself." Shelby rolled her eyes, but the smile on her face gave away the fact that she was glad to be back.
"Two hours too long dude. Spencer's a douche." Dreamz muttered.
Hope shrugged. "I thought he was cool. I guess I prefer Shelby though." She smiled teasingly.
Shelby laughed. "Thanks. The other people were cool too, but I like you guys way more." She stated, pressing her cheek to Alfred's. "Especially you, Alfie."
