LXXIV. The Swap pt. 2
Sorry for some of the curtailed descriptions of the characters; I didn't really know what all of them looked like in extreme detail...
Also, Nyo!Canada an Nyo!Hope are together in this Drabble because this arc was started before the big fight. Hope and Canada will also still be together in the next part as well.

Shelby instantly ran to the mirror, her eyes wide with fear as she pressed her hands to the glass. Her counterpart did the same, his eyes even more fearful than Shelby's. This time, she could not feel his warm flesh under her hands, but cold, merciless glass. Tears collected in her eyes out of sheer panic. He did the same. She could see England on the other side of the mirror as he approached, his eyes looking straight through to Shelby. His lips were moving; he was trying to say something. Shelby guessed the words leaving his mouth were the same words leaving the blonde's next to her.
"Spencer, please, stay calm. I just have to remember how to fix this; I can fix it. I swear I will." She said in her accented tongue, pressing a shaking hand to the glass. Arthur did the same. Shelby reached for it, but couldn't feel his gloved hand.
"Please don't leave me here." Shelby muttered, her mind whirling extremely fast; images of her mother, father, sisters, Alfred, and her school work flying through her head. "Please."
"I won't. I promise." The girl next to her stated, her words perfectly matching Arthur's lip movements. Shelby realized with alarm that the imagine was fading. She was beginning to see her own reflection replace Arthur's face. She watched his eyes widened in alarm, and the girl next to her shouted, "Spencer!" Shelby had no doubt England had done the same with her name as the mirror seemed to lose its magic ability and fade to a plain mirror, nothing extraordinary about it.
Shelby stared at her reflection, instantly wiping the tears from her face, which had formed there. The room was silent, save for her breathing, as well as the blonde's next to her.
Finally, she spoke.
"I am... So terribly sorry." She stated, turning to Shelby. She followed in suit. "This must be... Terrifying for you." She rubbed her fingers together awkwardly, before extending her hand out. "I'm Rose Kirkland. The state of England, as well as the collective representative of the United Kingdom."
Shelby took it slowly. "Shelby Ferrell. U.S. state of Michigan."
She nodded, her bright green eyes looking the American up and down slowly. "You look very much like Spencer. The nose, the hair, the eyes... Right down to the skin tone."
Shelby blinked. "I wish I could say you looked Arthur, but those glasses make you look quite different."
At that, a slight smile graced her features. "Well, Miss Michigan, I promise I will find a way to get you back into your... Dimension, I suppose is the proper word. I haven't observed the mirror in full for a long time, but I know I have books here somewhere on my notes and findings... Only God knows how long that will-"
"ROSE? ROSE WHERE THE BLOODY HELL ARE YOU?" A shrill voice called out loudly, the accent similar to Rose's, but rougher, thicker. She recognized it's type from the stereotypes she had heard from TV show, as well as from a certain individual who she held a great grudge for- Australian.
"Kylie, please." A second, much softer voice admonished.
"Kylie, please." A third, male voice mocked.
Rose's face seemed to pale in realization. "Oh, no."
"What?" Shelby whispered, holding her stomach as it did nervous flips.
"I forgot I had decided in play hostess today and have my family over." Rose admitted, scrunching her nose up in irritation. "Those are my younger siblings, Kylie and Cynthia, and it sounds like their insufferable friend, Dennis, has deemed it necessary to tag along."
"Dennis?" Shelby echoed, trying to decipher the names and figure out who they were supposed to be. Was he... Dreamz?
The door flew open, and three figures stepped into the room. "Hello, Rose." One woman, a blonde woman with soft green eyes spoke with a faint smile. Behind her was a tanned female with darker green eyes and brown hair pulled up in a messy bun, two longer cow licks sticking up from her head, a bandaid crossing the bridge of her nose. At her side was a taller boy with paler skin and bluish-green eyes, and wavy brunette hair that shined with a reddish tint. All of their faces, however, fell dumbfounded at the sight of Shelby.
"... Rose... Did you turn Spencer into a sheila?" The tanned female questioned, a smile breaking onto her face.
"Dude, Spencer, you have boobs!" Dennis laughed. "Can I feel them? Are they real?"
Shelby instantly went rigid, crossing her hands over her chest and stepping behind Rose slightly, her glare like ice.
Rose also glared daggers. "Stop that this instant, you git. This is not Spencer. Her name is Shelby, and she was accidentally brought here through that mirror," Rose pointed to the portal, "where Spencer disappeared into."
The blonde, who Shelby would have to assume is the female version of New Zealand, blinked, looking at Shelby, while Dennis's face flushed slightly at the realization that he had just asked an actual girl, not his transformed friend, if he could touch her boobs. "Well... Can we get Spencer back?"
"We should be able to, Cynthia. Could you possibly assist me in searching for my notes on the mirror?" Rose inquired.
"Of course." She nodded.
"Kylie, could you please escort Shelby here into the living room and please... Try and keep her comfortable. If she's anything like Spencer the crowd to be arriving will be most unpleasant." Rose stated.
"Yes, your majesty." Kylie sighed in a mocking tone, before gesturing to Shelby to come with them. "Come on, Spen- er, Shelby. We'll take care of ya."
With that, the Aussie pair guided the distraught American into the living room, who made sure to keep Kylie between herself and Dennis, who's apology she ignored. Soon, she was seated on a comfy couch in the living room, and tried to force herself to relax.
"So," Kylie began, "what's my male-self's name?"
"Jett." Shelby stated simply.
"What? Not Kyle? Jett, like, an airplane?"
"Yeah, but with two Ts."
"Weird." Kylie muttered, before firing off the next question. "Do you hate me? Or, well, Jett? And male-Cynthia? Do you not like us?"
"Not really." Dennis chuckled slightly at how casually Shelby said it.
"Was it the spider?"
"It was the spider."
"Nice. Jett has good taste." Kylie mused.
Shelby rolled her eyes. "I hate Oceania." She grumbled.
"What about me?" Dennis inquired. "Are you and my fem-self good friends?"
"Yeah we're pretty close."
"Cool. Me and Spencer have a blooming bromance." Dennis shrugged with a smirk.
"Poor Spencer." Shelby muttered to herself.
"I CAN HEAR YOU! I SAID I AM SORRY DUDE!"
Shelby looked to Kylie, lifting a brow. "Kylie, did you hear anything? Like an angry... Whiny wind?"
Kylie burst out laughing, exclaiming how she liked female Spencer a lot more, while Dennis crossed his arm and muttered that he wanted his bro back.
A few moments after silence settled over the group, the door swung open, and a pair stepped into the not-so humble abode.
Instantly, she recognized that the woman was the female version of Canada, what with the maple leaf adorn sweater and gentle violet eyes behind red glasses. Her wore her long, wavy blonde hair in two low pigtails, and she clutches her polar bear in her arms. At her side, guiding her with an arm around Canada's waist, was a very tall boy with curly brown hair and multicolored brown eyes. Freckles danced across his pale face, and dark circles caressed the underneath of his eyes, which fell, along with Canada's, on her.
Kylie jumped up in greeting. "Madeline! Hayden! It's been too long, mates!" She smiled.
Madeline returned the greeting with a shy smile. "Hello Kylie. Dennis." She nodded to each individual, before her violet gaze landed back on Shelby, who squirmed uncomfortably at the attention. "Who's this?"
"I'm getting a weird vibe." Hayden muttered. "Like, I know her, but I've never seen her in my life."
"This is Shelby. She's like, the female version of Spencer. She came through a mirror in England's room. I think we lost Spencer on the other side." Kylie explained.
Hayden's eyes lit up. "She's from the mirror?" He questioned eagerly, before turning and walking towards Shelby. "Hey bud, I'm Hayden Neufeld." Shelby laughed internally. Of course Hope's male counterpart would be extremely tall. "I need to know, what's my female version's name? Please don't tell me it's Harriet or something cringe-worthy."
"Uhh, it's Hope." Shelby answered curtly.
Hayden relaxed visibly, as if a weight had just been lifted of his shoulders. "Thank the moose."
"What about me, eh? What's my male counterpart's name?" Maddie asked softly.
"Matthew."
"Aaaaahahaha, get it? Maddie, Mattie." Kylie giggled. "They sound similar."
"Thank you Dr. Obvious." Dennis stated.
"How'd you get through the mirror, if you don't mind me asking?" Hayden questioned. "I got to see Hope in the mirror a while back... But I never went through."
"I saw the mirror, and I had my hand on the glass... It was almost as if I were touching his hand..." She examined said hand as she referred to Spencer. "Arthur- er, my England- came over to try and tell me to be careful, tripped, and knocked into me... All of a sudden, I was here. And the image in the mirror faded."
"That's bonkers, mate." Kylie whispered, staring at Shelby with wide eyes.
"Yeah, that sounds intense." Hayden concurred. "Hopefully, Rose can get everything sorted out before-"
"HEY YOU GUYS!" A shrill female voice shouted outside.
Maddie paled slightly. "Oh god she's here."
"Who?" Shelby pressed, but didn't have to wait long before the door swung open.
A fair skinned girl in a white crop top and jean skirt stepped inside, wearing knee-high boots and star barrettes in her golden blonde, short, slightly wavy hair. She had sparkling blue eyes, a brilliant smile, and slung over her shoulder was a wooden baseball bat.
"Sorry I'm late, dudes! Me and Tonya were smashing on some pre-dinner burgers." She explained to the group as she waltzed inside. "Where's Spenc, by the way? He hasn't been answering my texts."
The room was so stiffly quiet, Shelby felt the hair on the back of her neck stand up.
"Dudes, can we quit acting like someone freaking died and answer my question?" The blonde pressed.
Kylie pointed at Shelby. "That is Spencer."
The blonde's blue eyes locked with Shelby's, and instantly, the brunette was being grabbed and prodded.
"Spencer, dude! You're a not a real dude anymore! Your hair, your face, your butt- they're all different!" Shelby squeaked and tried to escape her examiner as she felt a hand touch her butt. "And you have boobs now! They're almost as big as mine!" This time, Shelby was able to slap her hand away before it could touch that said area.
"No, Amelia." Hayden pushed himself between the two. "That's not what Kylie meant. This isn't actually Spencer, this is his female counterpart from some sort of parallel dimension. Her name is Shelby, and she has no idea who you are, so you should probably not touch her like you're dating."
"Please." Shelby whispered.
"Well, if she's dating the male version of me, and the male version of me is basically the same as me, then she technically is dating me, which makes us both lesbians." Shelby physically choked on the air behind Hayden.
"I need to go." She stated in a shaky voice.
"I'll take her outside for some air." Maddie offered, and soon, Shelby was sitting on the porch next to Canada, watching the rain patter on the cement. Luckily, the house blocked most of the moisture from hitting the pair and soaking them.
"Stressed?" Madeline asked when it seemed Shelby's face had regained color and she was relatively complacent.
"A bit. It's like... Everything is similar and familiar, but... It's just not the people it should be." Shelby explained. "Kylie isn't Jett, Dennis isn't Dreamz, you're not Matthew, Hayden's not Hope, and Amelia is not Alfred. It almost... Unsettling."
Maddie listened intently to the brunette, nodding once she finished. "I'm sure it'll work out. England, she won't stop until she gets you and Spencer back where you belong." Shelby nodded. "If it makes you feel any better, Spencer is probably going through the exact same thing."
Shelby stared back out at the rain.
Poor, innocent Spencer.

Quick little, ironic author's note. While I was editing this part, I realized that not only do Maddie and Mattie sound similar, but in Michigan, since we pronounce a good chunk of our Ts as Ds, they literally sound the exact same when I say their names.
