LXV. The EITWHU Squad
"Let the meeting begin!" Alfred shouted, slamming his fist down at the round table.
"The meeting for... What, exactly?" Jenna inquired, raising a brow.
"The EITWHU Squad!" America cheered. "We're having a meeting to discuss the issues that face us."
Thaovy leaned over to where Shelby sat. "What the hell does that mean?" She whispered.
"The 'Everyone in the world hates us' squad. It's for Americans only." Shelby whispered back in a monotoned voice.
"... Everyone hates us?" The younger girl continued.
"Yeah. Name a country who likes us."
"Umm... Canada?"
"Nah, they hate our economy."
"Ah, okay."
"Hey, guys, secrets don't make friends. Why are you whispering?" A male voice asked, and everyone looked up to see Juan standing behind Jenna, smiling.
"Dude, Americans only." Alfred crossed his arms.
"Uhhhh, sorry to burst your bubble, bro, but my country is part of North America, which makes me American." Mexico stated defiantly.
"Okay, this meeting it for citizens of the United States." Shelby sighed.
"Are you saying I'm an illegal immigrant?" Juan demanded.
"No where in that sentence did those words leave my mouth." Shelby stated, her patience obviously waning.
Mexico laughed. "Chill, homegirl, I am just messing with you. Jenna, I'll be outside." He said, patting her shoulder, before leaving the room.
"Okay, back to business. I have complied a list from a survey on the Internet to why the world hates Americans. Maybe if we see it from someone else's eyes, we'll be able to change." America explained.
Thaovy nodded. "Alright, lay it on us."
"Okay, number 1, they're brainwashed by their government."
Shelby chuckled slightly. "I would hardly call us brainwashed. Our government needs more political parties so it's less black and white, but government brainwashing is more like what's going on in North Korea."
"Number 2, they won't shut up about 9/11."
"THEY CAN SHUT THEIR DAMN MOUTHS!" Shelby snapped.
"Yeah, that's still a touchy subject. But that's really not a reason to hate us?" Jenna pointed out.
"Number 3, they're arrogant."
"Hmm... I mean, most aren't, but a few bad people can really spoil the whole group." Thaovy stated.
"Number 4, they hate other countries."
"False. I love other countries. I wish more of them liked us." Shelby pointed out.
"Number 5, they're bullies."
"Whoever made this list is a bully." Jenna muttered.
"Number 6, they can't take a joke."
"Hm... Well, I personally can't." Shelby admitted. "But I don't speak for all of us."
"Number 7, they're obese."
"Does Thaovy look obese?" Jenna huffed. "Honestly, like other countries don't have obese, arrogant people."
"Number 8, they're unintelligent."
"Um, I am a 4.0 student who's in National Honor Society and got above average on my SATs. I don't want to hear that shit." Shelby spat.
"Number 9, they support the death penalty."
"Lie. I don't." Thaovy stated, crossing her arms and glancing at Shelby, who shrugged.
"Guilty as charged, I suppose." She stated simply. "Next reason."
"Number 10, they have horrible politicians."
"True." Jenna nodded.
"Yeah, but is that really a reason to hate all Americans?" Thaovy inquired.
"Number 11, they're extremely religious."
"I mean, what's wrong with religion?" Jenna challenged.
"That's not true for everyone though. Last time I went to church, I actually liked socializing with people." Shelby explained. "And there are plenty of atheists."
"Number 12, they... Steal?"
Thaovy rolled her eyes. "No, seriously, who made this list?"
"Number 13, they're racist."
"Well, there is racism, but America is not the only country that experiences it." Jenna pointed out.
"Well, that's the list." America stated, his lips pressed together in a thin line.
"That wasn't even a real list. It sounds like someone just threw together the first things that came to mind. Half of those weren't even legitimate. Bullies? Really?" Thaovy ranted to no one in particular.
"I bet the person who made the list has never even seen an American, let alone talked to one." Jenna said.
"Yeah, that was stupid. None of those were really reasons to hate an entire nationality." Shelby sighed, glancing at America. "So can we admit this is stupid? The reasons the world hates us is stupid. Let's go get home. Please."
"Okay, meeting is concluded. BUT next time we'll discuss how to get England to like us again." Alfred decided, his eyes sparkling with determination behind his glasses.
"Deal. Now, I'm going home. Ciao." Thaovy waved as she stood up quickly, leaving the room with Jenna not too far behind.
