{Gray’s POV}

“You better wake up early tomorrow or else I’m gonna make your head crack into two.” Lucy told Natsu. I laughed as I went inside my room, contemplating on everything that had happened tonight. I had fun, really. And it’s all thanks to Mavis and Zeref.

The next morning was my worst morning because I woke up to the loud blast of music just beside me. My eyes were so weary that I wanted to sleep for five more hours. Well, the party  had ended at midnight, so waking up early in the morning wasn’t the best thing to do for me. “What the f**k?” I hissed.

Someone threw me a pillow. “Stop cussing in front of me or else I’ll cut your tongue.” Erza deadpanned. “Get up.” She pulled the blanket and I wanted to go punch her. But of course I wouldn’t do that because she’s a girl and of course, Jellal will kill me.

“Why?”

“Why? You’re asking me why? Okay, I’ll tell you the reason. Your girlfriend is sick.”

I immediately blushed. “Girlfriend? What are you talking about?”

“Denying, eh? You want her to be your girlfriend. I’m talking about Juvia, ice princess.” Now she also calls me ice princess? And Juvia? She’s sick?

“Now go to her room and take care of her because the six of us have to sign for our second concert.” She dragged me up and left me standing, dumbfounded.

I walked towards Juvia’s room. She wouldn’t be mad, right? Erza had ordered me to come there. I slowly opened her door and peeked. There she was, sleeping. She doesn’t look like sick to me. Are they playing with me?

I touched her forehead and—oh. She’s burning up. I quickly ran downstairs and found myself a towel and water. Once I was done, I soaked the towel in the water and put it in Juvia’s forehead. Seriously, I didn’t know how to take care of a sick person.

“Ughmnh.” She moaned. Geez, she’s making me worry.

“You need more vitamin c.” I informed, though I knew she wouldn’t answer. “You’re like a little kid.”

Once in a while, I’d put the towel in the water and put it in her forehead. I don’t know how much time had passed, but I decided to take a nap. They weren’t here anyway.

“You idiot! What are you doing, sleeping around like that? You should take care of the sick while we’re not around! I’ve told you that, right? Now why are you slacking off?” Erza pulled my hair and I groaned. Oh, I just want a little rest. Why can’t I get one?

“Let... him go, Erza.” Juvia said in a weak voice. “He has done his job very well.” Job? “It’s okay.”

Erza let go of me. “Well then...” She bit her lip. “Sorry.” She walked out.

“Are you okay?” Juvia asked, worry evident in her face. “I’m sorry you got involved in this.” She closed her eyes.

“No, it’s okay. You got me worried too, anyway.” I shrugged. “Besides, you’re important to me...” I hadn’t realized I said something so cheesy not until she blushed. “To us, I mean.” I said, clearing my throat.

“Oh yeah...” She mumbled. “Thanks for worrying. I appreciate it.” She smiled. I stopped my face from getting red.

“No prob. You should get some rest.” I told her and she nodded. I walked out the door and closed it but not before she spoke again. “Uh, Gray!”

“Yes?”

“Thanks again.”

I laughed. “How many times do you have to tell me that?” She blushed while I just shook my head.

*-*-*-*-

“You really don’t know how to cook—no! Do not put it in high heat!” I watched as Lucy taught Natsu how to cook.

“How is Juvia?” Levy queried.

“I told her she needed rest, so I let her be.”

“You honestly don’t know how to take care of a sick person.” Gajeel shook his head at me. “You should know how to do it because it’ll be useful in the future. What if your kid or wife got sick, right?” Kid? Wife? I reddened at the thought.

“We’re back.” Erza bellowed as Jellal and her entered the kitchen, holding paper bags with vegetables. “Why are you guys here?”

“We’re watching Lucy teach Natsu.” I pointed out and she nodded.

“How’s your girl?” Jellal casually asked as he pulled out the vegetables.

“No! She’s not my girl! And... she’s fine. I told her she needed rest.”

“Yet.” Natsu chimed in and I glared at him.

“You should look after Juvia.” Lucy muttered. “She doesn’t want to be alone.” Oh. I immediately ran upstairs and entered Juvia’s room.

Juvia sat up. “I thought you’d leave me be?”

“They told me you didn’t want to be alone.”

She bit her lip and there was a long pause. “Yeah, right.” She flopped down her bed and I touched her forehead. I felt that she suddenly became uneasy.

“Your temperature got down for a bit, but you still have a fever.”

“Okay. Now leave me alone.”

“Why do you want me to leave you here?”

“I don’t know. Just get out.”

“You nervous?” She went quiet. Silence means yes. I chuckled. “You don’t have to be nervous. I’m your best friend, remember?” She narrowed her eyes at me but then didn’t answer. I leaned closer to her, and we looked like we’re doing something but I didn’t care. “Are we best friends again?” I felt her breathing hitch.

“I don’t know?”

“Don’t answer me with a question, idiot.”

“Yes, I think.” I leaned back and smiled at her. Now that that’s settled, maybe we should have a little talk. I don’t know a lot about her now.

“How are you?”

She looked really puzzled. “H-Huh?”

“How are you when we weren’t here? When we boys, weren’t here, I mean.”

“Oh.” She thought for a moment. “Fine. I’m fine.” Glancing in her eyes was the best thing to do to know if she’s lying or not. And yes, she’s lying.

She swallowed. “You fooled me, Gray Fullbuster? I’m your best friend.”

“Well then, you wanna know the truth?” Her voice went higher. “Here it is. I wasn’t fine. You were the first one to break my heart. I didn’t like you if that’s what you’re thinking about. I mean as your best friend, you broke my heart. You left me crying.”

I sat there, watching her eyes fill up with tears. “I’m sorry.” I whispered. But I knew that that sorry wasn’t enough.

She didn’t pay attention and she just closed her eyes.

“Forget it. That was back then.” She murmured.

“Sorry.” I said.

“No, it’s okay.” She replied, wiping her tears. “Anyway, I wanted to ask you a question. I’ve never got the chance to hear you answer this.” I nodded. “Who is that someone you like? You never told me who it is.” I gulped as I thought about her face. I remained silent, trying to make myself tell Juvia.

“It’s—”

“Juvia!”

The eight of them, including Mavis and Zeref, swarmed around Juvia. I rolled my eyes. Why do I get interrupted every single time?

“Are you alright?” Of course not.

“Does it hurt?” When did a fever hurt?

“Don’t gather around her.” I reprimanded strictly. They all turned to me and backed away from Juvia.

“The caretaker is here.” Natsu said, stifling a laugh. I glared at him, raising a fist but Levy stood between us, preventing us from getting in a brawl.

“Now, now. Let’s leave the lovebirds here before Gray kick us out.” Lucy grinned and pushed the eight of them out of Juvia’s room. I heaved a sigh of relief, looking at Juvia.

“Rest.”

“No, not unless you tell me the one you like.”

“That never got out of your mind? How come you’re so curious about that? Do you like me? And do you want to get my heart? Don’t do that, my fans will hate you.” She lightly punched my arm.

“No, idiot. You know me. I tend to get wild when I’m curious.”

I wiggled my eyebrows. “Wild? What kind of wild, exactly?”

“Play with me more and I’ll kick you out of my room.” She grumbled, getting cranky.

“Chill. I was gonna tell you some time soon, too.”

“Who is it?”

“It’s yo—”

“Gray!” Erza made the door fly open. Not again. “Juvia, eat this soup.” She raised up a bowl filled with soup. Juvia’s eyes gleamed and I knew in an instant that the scent of mushroom soup filled her nostrils.

“My favorite!” She enthusiastically sat up and smiled at Erza. “Give me some! Give me some!”

Erza turned to me with a sweet smile. Something behind that sweet smile is creeping me out. I had goosebumps. “Feed her, Gray.” She gave me the soup that almost spilled my shirt. I glared at her as she added, “Do a good job.”

Juvia protested, “But I can—” But Erza had already slammed the door shut. Her eyes wandered to me. “Give it to me.”

“No. Erza will get mad at me.” I took long strides towards her and I sat on her bed. “Say “Ahhh~.”” She blushed and shook her head.

“B-But I—”

“Say “Ahhh~.”” She stared at me for what felt like forever before reluctantly opening her mouth. I shoved it in. Okay... that sounded wrong.

I continued doing it to her as we remained tranquil for awhile.

“I like you.” I mumbled, and I made sure it was loud enough for her to hear it. There you go.
