♤ writing effloresing edelweiss was a new experience for me. this is my fourth completed book and unlike the other stories i have published, its creation was unprecedented.
♤ i had no intentions of creating another bnha fanfiction after plastic flowers and paper flowers (check them out if you want more background on mizuki kaede or you just like bnha in general, kill me for the self-promo lmao). seriously, efflorescing edelweiss was never part of the plan. i have a list of stories to come in my journal but efflorescing edelweiss was never mentioned there.
♤ it was just a product of my thirst, err... love for todoroki and my unending search for more angst. i hit the publish button, made it ready for 2019 then voila. it was centered around the ending of hanako dying as a result of her quirk and i built a personality and more characters around it.
♤ my favorite part of writing this was the interaction between momoka, mei and hanako. they're so distinctive, but alike at the same time lmao. momoka's the mean girl that everyone loves because no one sees the monster underneath, mei's the shy type but acid inside girl, hanako's the quiet, indifferent one whose mind is filled with murder.
♤ they all have one common denominator and that's their personalities suck.
♤ they're manipulative, thy classic mean girls, but everyone loves them.
♤ they all have grudges with each other [mei hates hanako because she wants momoka all to herself and in a way momoka because mei's homophobic, hanako hates the both of them cause she hates how annoying they are, how loud and noisy they are and how crappy their personalities are (like her), momoka hates hanako sometimes because she's ungrateful, and how she "stole" what's hers, momoka hates mei because she doesn't accept momoka's sexuality ]
♤ but they stick together because they still love and accept each other despite the differences and they've been with each other since middle school so... see epilogue where todoroki briefly remembers how two girls cried the loudest during hanako's funeral, that's momoka and mei. also, how they help hanako and invite her to a lot of gatherings.
♤ so if their friendship is good and bad, that's up to you (i personally think it's bad).
♤ i loved writing it because it's a weirdish friendship and i love mean girls lmao.
♤ hanako, by far, is one of the most hateable characters i've written. she's wrong in the head, she's a hypocrite: her hands are stained with like four or five murders, she's stolen, cheated and a lot of other bad stuff, yet she continues to preach how she will destroy kaede because the girl is a monster. what makes her different? nothing. she's a child that didn't grow good. also vv sad, in the end, when she actually takes a step into becoming a better version of herself, she dies and that's that. damn, hanako, iloveyoubbygirl ♡
♤ shouto's the one who got dragged into this mess tbh. he doesn't deserve it lmao. you'll get over her, shoutobby. or not. lmao.
♤ efflorescing edelweiss was inspired by the hanahaki-byou au, the language of flowers and tragic villains.
♤ it has a lot of faults, a lot of ooc moments especially for shouto and dialogue that turned crappy because of compression due to the word count that i tried hard to be less than 1000, but i loved it. i treasure the memories i have gathered while writing this and i actually think i'm improving in creating ocs.
♤ so thank you guys for helping me grow as a writer, thank you for always spreading positivity. overall, hanako was a girl who could have done some good but couldn't because she couldn't take a chance due to her regression to death. a lot of us do. we have chances and if we all look for the good in us and become better, maybe the world will become a better place. let's start now. be the catalyst of change we want to be within ourselves.
