Chapter 5 - Gym : Fencing
Lillian's POV
The bell soon rang, signaling the end of lunch. I got up, sighing. I looked down at Sasha who was sitting down next to me.
"Gym..." we sighed in unison.
"I hope we don't have Fighting Moves today. I stink at those. I'm a lover, not a fighter!" Sasha yelled as she got up and we started walking, slowly, to the gym.
"I hope we do something simple like dodgeball or Hide N' Seek," I said. "Remember last year when Coach Leo made us to Grass Type moves?"
"Yeah. You were awesome! But I sucked," Sasha retorted. "What about that day we tried out Fairy Types? That was nice... everyone trying to use Babydoll Eyes and Attract on their crushes! And they taught us that right before the Spring Dance!" We both giggled as we walked into the gym. Everyone was already in the gym, when we got there.
"Okay, students!" Coach Leo yelled,"Line up -one line girls, one boys- and do your stretches!"
Coach Leo was a young teacher who just graduated collage. He often wore blue, and had a soft, kind look about him.
Me and Sasha somehow fell into the left line with all the other girls while the boys fell in the other line. We all started stretching. I was one of the more athletic girls, so I did a few more complicated stretches.
After a few minutes, Coach Leo yelled, "Okay! Go change into your fencing outfits!"
Fencing. Great! I'm perfectly horrible at fencing! I pulled Sasha aside as we headed to the girls locker room.
"Fencing! I suck at fencing!" I hissed to her. She gave me a worried look and entered the girls locker room.
I went over to my locker and quickly changed into my fencing outfit. It was all white, expect painted vines, flowers, and leaves that decorated it. I walked out of the locker room, heart pounding, scared out of my boots.
Everyone got back in their lines, dressed up now. Coach Leo was on the stage, smiling.
"Today I would like to introduce your new fencing teachers!" He yelled.
Two people walked out from behind the curtains, one a woman, the other a man. They both seemed about Coach Leo's age too.
"Hi! I'm Gabriella," the girl said.
"And I'm Gabriel! We're going to be your fencing teachers!" The man yelled.
I slightly smiled. Lord. How am I going to pull this off?!
I started tugging on Sasha's arm (who just so happened to be in front of me). It seemed stiff. I nudged her slightly. She looked back at me, scared. I nodded at her, and half smiled, trying to be strong.
"Okay! You lot are in High School. Y'all can pair each other up. Find a partner real quick!" Gabriella called.
Sasha turned around and looked worriedly at me.
"Go easy on each other?" I asked.
"Yeah...." One by one, paired up. Here we go...
"So! One person in you group try to swing at the others arm-," Gabriel said as he swung at Gabrielle. He barely missed her dress as she swung around Gabrielle.
"-and the other dodge!" Gabrielle finished, "and then go in for a hit!" She held the point of her sword against Gabriel's back.
Applause sounded throughout the gym. I just stood there, staring at them, planning out how to do this.
"Go! Start!" Coach Leo yelled. I nodded, and started trying to hit Sasha.
The first time, I hit her right in her chest. The second time, I still hit her, but right before she got spun behind me.
At this point she said, "Third time's the Charm. Which I am great at." We both smiled.
That time, I stabbed thin air, but Sasha fell, mid-spin. She got up, sighing. I smiled at her, hoping she wouldn't give up.
We switched positions now. She got me a few times, I fell once, and I stabbed her a couple of times. It was a nice switch up.
"Ok! Any wanna show off their skills?" Coach Leo asked.
He walked by couples who's hands were about to touch the clouds, and students who stared at their feet, blushing. Coach Leo walked past me and Sasha. Then he turned around.
My heart started beating faster. Don't pick us. Please, don't pick us. He stopped in front of me and Sasha.
"You two are pretty good; why don't you go and show everyone?" He asked us.
I looked over at Sasha. She shook her head slightly. But I knew that it wasn't a question. We would have to go up on stage. I grabbed Sasha's arm, and walked up to the stage.
"Go ahead," Coach Leo said, slightly pushing me and Sasha onto the stage. I sighed. And we walked up.
"Ready?" I asked as we got in position.
"Nope," Sasha mumbled.
"Let's do this," we whispered in unison.
And then, Sasha tried to stab me, but instead hit air. I spun, and stabbed Sasha in the back. I didn't know why
I didn't do this before, but I spun as if I was dancing. My parents are richer than the average person, and I'm there only child, so they usually spoil me. They gave me private dance lessons with the best dance teacher money can buy: Drago van Airris.
I heard people clap, a few slowly. I looked over at Shelton and blushed. I decided to look at his partner. Flacon. Aw, frick.
I felt all my body heat rush into my cheeks, and turned to Sasha, who fell, and was acting as though she as dying. I rolled my eyes and pulled Sasha up off the ground.
Sasha was laughing, giggling even. I soon noticed she was staring at my cheeks.
"SHUT UP!!" I hissed through clenched teeth. I punched her on her arm, and she recoiled. "Hmph."
I walked down the steps and walked to the back of the gym. I tensed as I passed Shelton and Flacon.
