Chapter 10 (Tatum's POV)

   We have been walking on the train tracks for about 20 minutes in the dark with flashlights. We were heading away from whatever just happened. Looking for signs and any sort of clues about information on those creatures. 

   "Your positive that was Dart?" Lucas asked.

 "Yes. He had the same exact yellow pattern on his butt." Dustin replied. 

"He was tiny 2 days ago." Max said.

 "Well, he's molted 3 times already." Dustin said.

 "Malted?" Steve asked.

 "That's molted Harrington." I said.

 "Shed his skin to make room for more growth like hornworms." Dustin said. 

"Horny, what? Wait, who is horny? Huh?" Steve says cluelessly. 

I rolled my yes and let out a small giggle. The kids just looked at us completely grossed out.

 "When is he gonna molt again?" Max asked.

 "It's gotta be soon. When he does, he'll be fully grown or close to it. So will his friends," Dustin shrugged. 

"Yeah.. and he will be eating a lot more than just cats." Steve says jokingly.

 "Wait, a cat?" Lucas stopped in front of Dustin holding a firm hand on his shoulder.                           "Dart ate a cat?" He asked.

 "No. What? No!" Dustin lied. 

I was now confused, yet again. "What are you talking about? He ate Mews.." I said blankly and unaware. I rest myself on Steve's shoulder for a small amount of support.

"Mews? Who's Mews?" Max says. 

"It's Dustin's cat, or was.." Steve said. 

"Steve! Tatum! What the hell?" Dustin exclaims. 

"I knew it! You kept him!" Lucas yelled in Dustin's face.

 "No! No. No... I DIDN'T KNOW HE WAS A DEMOGORGON, OK?" Dustin yells back.

 "Bullshit!" Lucas says. 

Me and Steve listen as the 3 kids yell and shout back an fourth.

"Guys! Who cares, we have to go." Max yells. Why are so many kids yelling. 

"I care! You put the party in jeopardy! You broke the rule of law!" Lucas shouts. 

"So did you!" Dustin shouts very loudly. "You told a stranger the truth!" Dustin points his flashlight in Max's eyes.

 "A stranger?" Max scoffs. 

"You wanted to tell her to!" Lucas says.

 "Yeah, but I didn't tell her. I didn't tell her! We both broke the rule of law, so we're even! We're even." Dustin calls out.

Steve and I stopped listening to their bickering when we heard screeching. 

"Hey guys!" Steve said, trying to silence the kids.

I pointed my flashlight into the woods on the side of the forest we heard the noises coming from. 

"Guys!" I scream. They all turn towards us, and the screeching continues. 

"Wait, guys! Why are we running towards the noise?" Max asked. 

We all jog closer and closer to the sound, flash lights the only thing providing light. 

Lucas grabs his binoculars and looks around.

      "It's the lab.. Their going back home."

 We kept trudging in the woods, following the noise of the dogs,  making our way to Hawkins lab. 

  "So why aren't you 2 dating?" Max asked me. 

"I don't know. I feel bad about him and Nancy." I said.

 Steve was in the distance with the boys who were still bickering, and I was walking with Max. 

"That's totally crap. Who cares about Nancy?" Max adds. 

"Let's see here.. I care, I guess.. I mean I just don't wanna make anything messy between the 3 of us. I mean Nancy definitely likes Jonatha. But she still could not have gotten over Steve and vice-versa.

"It doesn't matter though, your bestfriend shouldn't be stopping you from the one guy you like." Max says.

 I shrug, "Well, what about you? Those boys seem pretty into you." 

Max nods, "Yeah I guess." She says.

 "Hey Tay! We're here!" Steve calls for in front of us.

 Max nudged me playfully, and I sped up my pace, getting closer to the group. 

"STEVE?" 

 I stepped next to Dustin to see who had just said that.

 "Nancy? Jonathan?" Dustin called. 

"Tatum? What are you doing here?" Nancy asked, concerned. 

We all walk up to each other, forming 1 big group. 

"What are you doing here?" Steve says.

 "We're looking for Mike and Will." Nancy says.

 "There not in there, are they?" I ask. 

"We're not sure. Why?" Jonthan replies.

 Just then, the screeching got louder. We could all hear an alarm blaring from the inside of the building, small Demogorgons snarling.  We all started talking about where everybody was and what was going on. 

"I haven't seen them since.." Lucas began.

 "The powers back!" Nancy sasaidcutting off Lucas and gazing at the lab. 

Jonathan runs over to the security station with the buttons that open the gate. He pressed the button, but the gate didn't open.

 "Let me try!" Dustin says.

 Jonathan continues pressing it until Dustin shoves him out of the way and starts pressing the button.

 "Son of a bitch.. you know what?" Dustin says still pressing the button. 

After a minute of Dustin and Jonathan pushing the button, it opened.

 "Hey! I got it!" Dustin said with a big grin. (Little did he know Bob Newby had opened the gate from the inside of the building using a computer.) We all started running towards the lab. 

"Wait, what if we all don't make it out." Nancy says.

 "You're right. Some of us should stay back." Jonathan says.

 "Tatum, come with me and Jonathan." Nancy says. 

"Sure." I say. 

I give Steve, and I'm sorry, look, but he had to stay with the kids. I hopped in the car Nancy and Jonathan had with them, and we drove towards the entrance. We saw Mike with Will (who was unconscious) on a wall, Mike was holding Will up, and Hopper and Joyce were still inside of the building.

 Joyce was screaming and crying while Hopper was shooting a gun (which I think is a Bushmaster HBAR Carbine)  one of the dogs who was picking at a man harshly. The man that had been inRadio Shack across from the grocery store and not far from the general store. It hit me, Bob Newby had died. Hopper dragged Joyce outside the lab.

 "C'mon! Get in!" Jonathan yelled. 

I got out squeezing Mike, Will, and Joyce in the car. I ran over to Hoppers truck that had space for me. We began to drive back down to Steve and the kids. Nancy and Jonathan were in front of us and flew by Steve and the kids, but we stopped and had them climb into Hoppers truck, and we drove off.
