[Not edited] Chapter 14
--------
A/N: Heyyyyy, it's been a while- Sorry that I haven't updated this in like forever, but school work and everything else just got in the way and I eventually forgot about this- Well not to fear, because this time I'm actually going to work on this and only this until it is done.
Also I may or may not have made a reference to the sequel that I'm planning, which will be Kaede and Maki centric so look forward to that!
Warnings: Mentions of sex (no graphic description, otherwise I would have had to rate this as mature), Headcannon Used (The one where I mentioned that Maki is asexual, yeah that isn't confirmed I'm telling you now so don't attack me in the comments saying I put fake information), implications of a potential mental health issue, implications of homophobic behaviour (more like hate towards asexuals but I'll just call it that since I'm not sure what it's referred to), potential spoilers to a sequel (well at the same time not really but shhhh)

"I swear to god, Maki if you try anything I will never forgive you." was all the astronaut told her before he walked away. He looked truthfully hurt.
This left the group with an guilty silence. The second part of Phase Two was not going according to plan. They had to do something otherwise they were screwed. Himiko and Tenko tried very hard in thinking of something to create a change of tide to make the plan work. However, no matter what their poor heads have thought of, none of what she suggested have any possibility of working out in the long term. The worst part was they still had two phases left! Not to mention Kirumi was counting on them to make it work. After all, they knew of the massive risk the maid took just to get the plan up and running. If they failed her now, this would have meant that the maid risked it all for nothing.
Time was running out, and yet still nothing came to mind. The two girls looked at Kaede with desperation in their eyes, hoping that the optimist of the group would figure out the problem to the solution. The pianist did end up finding a solution, with the power of simple thinking and speed.
"So... How about a different game?" Kaede proposed, a weak smile landed on her face. Her aim was for a change of atmosphere, and a change of topic while she was at it. It worked. Mostly anyway.
Everyone nodded in approval with this new suggestion, and so followed Kaede's lead by finding a table with enough chairs for them all, and settled down. Afterwards, the pianist had to quickly come up with a new game to play in order to turn the situation around.
"So, how about a game of two truths and one lie? (A/N: I may or may not have made a reference to the title of the seque- *gets smacked*)" Kaede offered. This was the best she could come up with considering she was under pressure. She was going to pray that the change of plan was worth it because if it doesn't turn the situation around she won't be one happy Kaede at all.
To her surprise, there were multiple nods of approval. So that's exactly what they did. They played the game for quite some time, laughing at some of the most ridiculous lies made. Kokichi obviously kept on winning because everyone kept thinking all his statements were lies.
"I just realised that it's getting late," Maki told the group, after she had checked her phone to discover that it was seven p.m. . "I have to look for my boyfriend and explain the fiasco otherwise he'll threaten to break up with me over nothing, it was already hard to find a boyfriend as it is considering none of them want to date an asexual."
It wasn't exactly a secret to everyone that Maki was an asexual. In fact, she had it quite obvious that that was the case when she had made a face of discust and horror during sex education when the teachers have talked about sex. The only issue was is that it took her a while to realise that she was in fact asexual, as well accept herself for it. Everyone was supportive of her when she came out, especially Kaito, which made her happy.
However, Maki quickly realised that Kaito may not necessarily believe that asexuality may be a thing, but that's another topic to unpack she's not willing to tell anybody. At least, not yet anyway.
"Ah yeah, it is getting late. Me and Kokichi agreed that we'll walk home together, as we agreed that he'll stay over my place for the night since it's an weekend." Shuichi responsed, with Kokichi in the background nodding in agreement. With that, the two were already on their merry way, leaving Tenko, Himiko, Kaede and Maki alone in the park.
"I guess me and Himiko will be on our way as well." Tenko said, with the two of them making their way to Himiko's house as soon as Tenko has said it. This left just Kaede and Maki. Alone. In the park. Together.
"We should probably get going too Maki-"
"Before we do, we need to inform Kirumi that Phase 2 was a success."
Kaede was surprised to hear the statement that escaped Maki's lips. She didn't think that it was a success at all, so what made her so convinced.
"Oh," Maki spoken, a heavy red blush appeared on her cheeks out of embarrassment. Kaede loved how cute she looked when she was embarrassed, but she wasn't going to tell the assassin that, especially after what happened, "I managed to convince Shuichi while you guys were trying to think of something to invite Kokichi over to his house for a sleepover. It wasn't easy as he kept asking me why I wanted him to do that so badly, but he's naive and was quickly convinced to do it." Maki finished, a small smile escaped her lips as she saw the happy expression on the pianist's face at the news.
With the new knowledge, the pianist did as was told and began to call Kirumi, who answered immediately.
"Hello Kaede, I'm assuming that you're calling me to bring me some news."
"Yes we are, Phase 2 was an absolute success!"
Pause.
"Very good, in that case we can begin the preparations for Phase 3, I'll call you all to gather for a meeting once we got everything we need to prepare. Goodbye." With that Kirumi hung up, nothing more needed to be said.
With Phase 2 a complete success, the two girls begin their walk home. Together.

"Hajime and Nagito, we need to talk."
Makoto was the one to announce as such, with as much optimism as he could manage. Byakuya, on the other hand, was hoping this would end as soon as possible. The main reason was that he couldn't tolerate Nagito at all. He always wondered how the fuck Makoto managed to put up with the white haired without loosing his mind. The headmaster was truly a miracle to behold, he believed. Obviously Byakuya wouldn't tell Makoto that, at least, not when Hajime and Nagito were watching.
"Of course, Makoto and Byakyua, take a seat on the couch and I'll go make you guys some coffee, Nagito will entertain you guys until then." Hajime responsed, with a composed smile as he made his way to the kitchen, leaving the remaining three to head to the living room and do as they're told.
"So... How's been teaching the students of hope...?" Nagito asked, who appeared to be cautious with his wording considering Hajime wasn't too far away. Lately the white haired had been careful with his wording in general, due to the brown haired having forced him into going to therapy. It had helped him quite a bit, talking about his emotions to some stranger that he was unlikely to see around in Tokyo.
"Decent, I guess, could have been a lot worse." The heir paused, deciding his words carefully in an attempt to not offend the white haired, "They're still a bit problematic, especially this one class. They're smart and all, but one of them in particular who's the most intelligent there prefers to cause chaos than to just... sit there quietly and listen." Byakuya finished, not wanting to continue his rant. It'll be pointless to rant about it anyway, it wouldn't be as if Nagito would understand, considering that he took some time off for his mental health.
"I...See..." Nagito spoke, pausing in mid sentence to decide what else to add, "I asked because I'm actually planning to come back and start teaching again, Hajime is against this idea but I feel like as long as I keep going to therapy, I'll be alright, I think." He finished, just as Hajime entered the room with two cups of coffee, for Makoto and Byakuya. The brown haired didn't make one for himself and his boyfriend solely because they had one coincidentally just before the two arrived.
"To be honest, I actually think that's a good idea, but that's assuming you'd remember to actually go to therapy." Makoto mentioned, placing his own opinion on the subject. Hajime looked at the headmaster in confusion before quickly realising what they meant.
"The thing is, it's not about him going back that bothers me as much, what concerns me is mainly what if that situation happens again, and I won't be there to help him this time?" Hajime revealed, pausing for a moment as he took in the white haired's shocked expression. He continued shortly after, "But it doesn't mean I'm allowed to stop you from doing what you want, Nagito. If you feel you're ready to go back just say the word and I'll support you all the way."
"This is cute and all, but this isn't the reason we came here, though I do approve of Nagito's return to teaching. He taught English Literature didn't he?" Makoto revealed to the other couple. He wanted to get this conversation over and done with. He still couldn't believe that moments before, him and Byakuya got blackmailed by a goddamn student. An intelligent student at that.
"Oh? What is that you wanted to tell us?" Nagito asked, curiosity evident in his tone.
"Well, a student-"
Makoto was about to start his sentence when the blonde haired raised his hand, effectively shutting the headmaster up. Perhaps that would be for the better, if Byakuya took the stage and did the talking.
"Long story short, a student caught us flirting so she blackmailed us to join some operation, and she wants you to join us for that said operation. She also has blackmail on you guys so take that as you will." Byakuya told them, so bluntly that Makoto was shaken by how to the point it was.
Makoto passed an envelope (that was given to them by Kirumi earlier, after they agreed that they'd talk to the couple) to Hajime and Nagito, who opened the contents of it. A look of visible horror escaped them both as they looked at contents, then back at Makoto and Byakuya. Needless to say, they knew what they were going to say.
"Count us in, Makoto and Byakuya."
With a quick call to Kirumi to confirm that the couple agreed, all the necessary preparations for Phase 3 were complete.
