it had been another week.

jeongguk had recently got out of his emotional funk and was mostly back to normal.

"normal" is a strong word but you know what i mean.

jeongguk had continued to hang out with jiwoo the whole week. still thrilled that his favourite person had come back to him.

"cmon! cmon, go!" jiwoo screamed.

"i'm trying!" jeongguk yelled back.

they were playing mario kart and the two were determined to get first and second place with eachother just like they did in the old days.

jeongguk would always go over to jiwoo's house back when they were freshmen and they'd play video games together for hours on end.

"fuck, i'm third now!" jiwoo groaned as she got hit by a shell, knocking her from first to third place.

"i'm still seco- wait! yes, i'm first!" jeongguk cheered.

seokjin watched them fondly.

"do you guys-"

"wait! wait, seokjin!" jiwoo silenced him.

"no distractions!" jeongguk added.

he laughed and decided to watch them finish the game before he spoke.

after a mere minute more, the two jumped up in victory.

"yes!" they cheered, hopping up and down.

they did their signature victory handshake with a laugh.

"okay, dumb and dumber. listen up." seokjin called.

they looked to him, "yeah?"

"i'm going on a date with joon so i'll be gone for the next few hours. do you want me to pick you up dinner?" he asked.

jeongguk nodded, "sure, as long as it's-"

"shitty burgers from that one diner? yeah, i know. jiwoo's been gone for so long, i'm sure she wants a taste of home now that she's back." seokjin snorted, putting his shoes on.

"you know it." jiwoo said, fist bumping jeongguk.

meanwhile, with taehyung...

taehyung was laying alone in his bedroom.

he was mindlessly scrolling through instagram when his brother came into his room.

"hey, i'm going to dinner with jinnie. want me to pick you up some food?" namjoon asked.

taehyung began, "yeah, could you get me-"

"shitty burgers from that diner you like? i got it. cheat day, huh?" namjoon suggested.

"yeah." taehyung chuckled lightly.

namjoon smiled with a nod before silently leaving his brother to his own devices.

taehyung went back to his scrolling, coming across jeongguk's latest post.

his breath caught in his throat at the sight. his heart clenched painfully.

seeing jiwoo leaned right against jeongguk and his arm around her made taehyung's heart drop. maybe it was because he used to sit in that position so regularly.

who even is she? taehyung thought.

it felt like she just dropped out of nowhere and, to be honest, she kind of did.

that thought made taehyung upset.

all it took was an old friend to randomly drop into his life and now he's basically forgotten about me.

don't get me wrong, they had that moment last week but that was when jeongguk had stumbled into the house in a drunken mess. it wasn't exactly romantic.

taehyung was confident in himself. his self-esteem was at the healthiest position possible. he knew he had a lot going for him.

however...

he was jealous.

jealous of jiwoo.

this was the only time taehyung had felt envious of anyone since he met jeongguk and it was hitting him like a truck.

i mean, it's not like him and jeongguk were official or anything.

in fact, taehyung hadn't even told jeongguk how he felt.

taehyung ran his hand down his face and groaned.

he stared at the picture for what felt like centuries.

two instagram posts in a row, she'd been in jeongguk's picture.

he double tapped the photo, watching the heart pop up on the screen to indicate his "like".

he didn't like it at all, though.

he dropped a black heart in the comments, not really knowing what to say so settling for a very vague emoji.

throughout the months, taehyung had grown a strange liking towards the black heart.

he noticed that jeongguk and yoongi used it a lot when texting eachother. they were really close. jeongguk loved yoongi so much, he'd told taehyung himself. that was one of the only times that jeongguk had opened up to him.

after some point, jeongguk started sending the black hearts to taehyung too.

at first, taehyung sent his signature pink hearts back.

jeongguk was very 🖤🤍❤️

whereas taehyung was very 💗💖💞

however, after some time, he started to instinctually send the black hearts back to jeongguk without really thinking about it.

it became their thing.

maybe that's why he commented it on jeongguk's post.

maybe to remind jeongguk that he hadn't texted him in five days and to tell him that he felt somewhat neglected.

they were progressing in their relationship. they were doing so well but then...

that was the worst part. he couldn't tell if jiwoo really was a threat to his and jeongguk's relationship (whatever you would call their relationship, that is) or if he was just being paranoid for no reason.

and that's why he needed the one person who could set his head straight.

he needed to talk to his bestfriend.

his soulmate.

he needed to talk to park jimin.
