a whole month passed this way.

did taehyung drag out his revenge for a little too long?

maybe.

however, his "fuck it" mood hadn't subsided and so he was too blinded by it to realise that he probably should've stopped this at least a week ago.

jeongguk was still texting and calling him non-stop to the point where it was honestly kind of sad.

taehyung would be lying if he said he didn't miss the other boy but he had too much pride to give up his facade. this mask he'd put up to act like he was okay when, in actuality, he missed jeongguk too.

jiwoo had come back from her parents' house two weeks ago yet jeongguk still seemed fixated on taehyung.

currently, jeongguk was sitting in yoongi's livingroom at 3am along with jiwoo who tagged along for mere emotional support.

"i don't know what's up with him." jeongguk sighed in frustration.

"you've tried everything? are you sure?" yoongi asked.

"i swear, yoongs. i've dmed him, texted him, called him and facetimed him. i even showed up at his damn apartment a couple times." jeongguk groaned, running a hand over his face.

"did you do anything to make him mad?" jiwoo asked, feeling bad for her friend.

"no. nothing that i can think of, at least. i don't remember ever saying anything or doing anything before he started ghosting me." jeongguk assured.

"maybe that's the problem." yoongi suggested.

"what d'you mean?" jeongguk raised an eyebrow.

"maybe he's mad because you didn't say or do anything, jeongguk. maybe he's mad because you weren't hanging out with him as much." yoongi pointed out.

"i mean, yeah, we didn't talk as much but it's because i was with jiwoo. surely he wouldn't get this upset by it, right?" jeongguk questioned hesitantly.

"well, it's the only logical explanation. unless, he had a dream about you cheating on him or something and decided to carry it into real life. bottoms are weird like that." yoongi commented, tapping away on his phone.

"you are a bottom, yoongi." jeongguk deadpanned.

"yeah but i'm not that bottom-ish. yknow, like, there's a bottom and then there's a BOTTOM. taehyung has, like, extreme twink syndrome. besides, i only bottom because i'm with hoseok who's a raging dom or something." yoongi argued.

"no but seriously though, think about it. there's different types of bottoms! like, there's a difference between a regular old bottom and a bottom who you can tell is a bottom just by looking at him. with me, it's ambiguous. you wouldn't assume i'm a bottom, top or switch. instead, you'd have to ask me because it's not really obvious. but with taehyung, he just radiates power bottom energy. like, there's no way you could glance at that boy and tell me he's a damn top. i mean, he has a belly button piercing, uses the word 'sis' unironically and quotes ariana grande on his instagram captions for crying out loud!" yoongi rambled on and on.

"i think the most concerning part of all this is the fact that i understand exactly what you're saying." jiwoo said.

"guys! we're not here to evaluate taehyung's status as a bottom, we're here to get him to stop ignoring me! yoongi, you can compare your bottom membership club cards later!" jeongguk complained.

"i was just saying." yoongi muttered, rolling his eyes.

"anyways, guys, back to the point. jeongguk, you need to find a way to speak to him. maybe yoongi's right, maybe the reason he's mad at you is because you weren't giving him enough attention. even if that's not the full reason, he probably still wants an explanation for it. i'd honestly hate to be the reason you guys don't work out." jiwoo interrupted, being the voice of reason.

"jiwoo's right, yknow." yoongi agreed.

jeongguk sighed.

"i guess i'll just keep on trying."

meanwhile, with taehyung...

he sat up at jimin's house with the soulmate himself.

it was 3:07am and the two boys were up late gossiping and stuffing their faces. it was something they did from time to time, only for special occasions. those occasions being when one of them was having a breakdown.

it was currently taehyung's turn.

"and i dunno, i just- ugh." taehyung groaned, tears rolling down his face as he shoved a handful of cheese puffs into his mouth.

"love, this is serious. i haven't seen you cry over a boy since the 8th grade. what's gotten into you?" jimin ran his fingers through his best friend's hair in an affectionate manner.

"i dunno, jimin. i just- i do miss him, trust me, i really do. and i know that he's trying to reach out to me but i just- i can't. not yet. i think my pride is getting in the way or something. i just- ugh! i can't get over the fact that he ditched me for some new girl on the block and then thought that he could just come running back to me with his tail between his legs once she went to say hi to her mummy and daddy." taehyung ranted, wiping his tears with a huff.

"babe, i agree that jeongguk is definitely shady as fuck for practically ignoring you but then obsessing over you as soon as his girl leaves. however, i definitely do feel like you should talk to him. neither of you are going to get anywhere with this if you keep avoiding him like the plague while he's pining after you like a lost puppy." jimin spoke truthfully.

"i know." taehyung sighed sadly.

"listen, i don't want this mess to be the end of taegguk, so you better not let me down. the ship shall sail on, i say." jimin pointed dramatically.

taehyung chuckled slightly, "whatever, chim."

"for real, though, tae. you two have been a fling for a really long time now. literally months upon months. that's longer than any immature fling ever heard of. you two might have something going here. and i know that your progress has been set back by this whole situation but i don't want you to give up on him because i don't think he's given up on you just yet." jimin gave a tight-lipped smile, petting his friend's hair.

taehyung hummed to show he had listened before he looked out of the window towards the stars.

"i haven't given up either."
