jimin made his way down to the café that him and taehyung used to hang out at in highschool. when he opened the door, he saw his bestfriend sitting in their usual seat.

"hey." jimin called before walking over and sitting opposite him.

"heyyyy." taehyung greeted.

"so, i say we order something and then gossip while we eat." jimin giggled.

"sure." tae smiled.

so jimin ordered a strawberry black tea and matcha flavoured mochi while taehyung ordered a hot chocolate and some dumplings.

"so, anything new happen recently?" taehyung asked.

"i heard that wooyoung and san are dating now." jimin replied.

"really? about time! their instagram profiles make me feel so single." taehyung laughed.

"for real, i feel so lonely when i see them on my feed. i think baekhyun got a boyfriend too."

"who? sehun?" taehyung questioned.

"nah, chanyeol." jimin corrected.

"ah, fuck. i owe my friend £40. we made a bet to see who baekhyun would date first." taehyung groaned.

jimin laughed, "seriously? i knew it would be chanyeol."

"shush. oh, i heard lisa is dating some girl called rosie." taehyung commented.

"i just realised that the only new gossip we have is that a ton of our mutuals are getting into relationships." jimin deadpanned.

"yeah, nothing else has really happened." taehyung shrugged.

jimin sighed, "i want a boyfriend so badly but i'm too shy to talk to new people and my standards are too high."

"tell me about it. did you have your eye on anyone?" taehyung questioned.

jimin blushed, poking his mochi with a chopstick as if it was the most interesting thing ever, "i mean, i dunno."

"are you blushing?! oh my fuck! spill it right now, who d'you like?" taehyung screeched.

"shhh! be quiet, oh my god."

"nuh uh, tell me!"

"if i tell you, you'll freak out." jimin sighed.

"a good freak out or a bad freak out?" taehyung raised an eyebrow.

"i have no idea."

"well, only one way to find out."

"so, yknow the party we went to a while back?" jimin began.

"yeah?"

"well, maybe i met this guy..."

"go on."

"and this other guy..."

"go on- wait- two guys?!" taehyung yelled.

"and maybe you know them..."

"huh?!"

"and maybe they're dating eachother..."

"wait..."

"and maybe they're jeongguk's bestfriends..."

"WAIT! YOU HAVE A CRUSH ON HOSEOK AND YOONGI?!"

"SHUSH, BE QUIET!"

"okay, okay! but for real, seriously?" taehyung asked, in shock.

"yeah." jimin covered his face, embarrassed.

"how did it happen?" taehyung questioned.

"at the party, we kinda stuck together and um, we were dancing together n stuff and- whatever! let's just say that shit happened!" jimin squeaked, hiding his head in his arms.

"no way! tell me right now!" taehyung shook him by his shoulders.

"ugh fine! well, what happened was..."

~flashback~

they had just entered the party and hoseok immediately dragged jimin over to the dance floor.

he saw how shy he was so he decided to help him loosen up.

"so, where you from, jimin?"

"i was born in busan but i live here in new york, obviously. me and taehyung are roommates." he replied.

"oh cool, you were born in korea? same. i'm from gwangju."

and it went on like this, just casually chatting. jimin felt a lot more comfortable now that hoseok had talked to him.

there was also the fact that hoseok was hot as fuck but jimin wasn't going to mention that, at least not out loud.

after a few more minutes of dancing, drinking and joking around, they spotted yoongi, jeongguk and taehyung heading over to them.

"hey!" yoongi called over the loud bass.

hoseok looked over, "hey baby," he said as he wrapped his arm around him and pulled him closer to where him and jimin were.

they're dating? jimin thought but quickly shook it off.

"hi jimin." yoongi smiled.

"hey." jimin smiled, now a lot less shy since he was tipsy.

jeongguk looked betrayed by yoongi as he was forced to dance with taehyung and jimin laughed at that before giving his attention back to hoseok along with yoongi who now also stood in front of him.

so there they were, close to eachother under the red light, all tipsy, all looking gorgeous. meanwhile, "thirsty" by taemin blasted in the background. they didn't even notice taehyung and jeongguk leaving to the backyard because they were too focused on eachother.

jimin was in a predicament.

something about having hoseok's hands around his waist while the older's hot boyfriend literally watched, unfazed, was intriguing to jimin.

tension. that was the only word he felt was appropriate to describe the atmosphere hanging around them in that moment. i mean, one guy had his hands all over him while the other was looking at him like he wanted to eat him alive, for fuck's sake.

he didn't know why or how but the next thing he knew he was kinda trapped between the two of them.

as the night went on, maybe they kissed and maybe they left hickeys and maybe they sent eachother questionable looks and maybe they gave light touches but it's not like anyone in their friend group noticed.

everyone else was drunk too apart from taehyung and jin but they were still preoccupied by other people. "people" being jeongguk and namjoon, of course.

when the night came to an end and they all got into their respective cars, jimin, yoongi and hoseok all sat next to eachother.

jin and namjoon were in the front but were too distracted by the road and eachother to notice whatever went on in the back.

again maybe light touches and maybe questionable looks but no one had to know.

~end of flashback~

"bro, how the fuck did i not notice you acting off?" taehyung sat back in his chair, shocked.

"no one did. namjoon and jeongguk were both drunk. as for seokjin he was focused on namjoon and also trying to keep an eye on jeongguk. as for you, you were definitely preoccupied with someone else." jimin said, smirking at the last sentence.

"what're you smiling like that for?" taehyung raised an eyebrow.

"all i'm saying is that jeongguk was pretty comfy with you at the party and that you didn't seem to mind." jimin giggled.

"i totally minded!"

"you acted like you minded, telling him to leave you alone and stuff. but come on, i'm your best friend, your soulmate. i know you better than you know yourself and you have to admit that you were drooling over jeongguk even if you didn't show it." jimin said.

"was not!" taehyung gasped.

"was too! the way you kept staring at his abs and his tattoos! eyes are the windows to the soul, taehyung." jimin teased.

taehyung's face was bright red, "i- he-"

"why're you stuttering?"

"shut up! even if jeongguk is hot, it doesn't mean i like him. you can enjoy someone's physical appearance without having feelings for them."

"first of all, you just admitted that he's hot. second of all, i never mentioned you liking him. you said that, not me." jimin stated.

taehyung groaned, "stop teasing me! and besides, don't think you can get out of our previous conversation by bringing up jeongguk. we were not done talking about your little moment with hoseok and yoongi."

now it was jimin's turn to groan, "ugh. can we not talk about it anymore?"

"why? you like them, don't you?" tae asked.

"i mean, yeah. but they're already dating and have been for a long time. i don't think they'd want something serious with me, especially considering that they're already really serious about eachother." jimin sighed, playing with the straw in his tea.

"well, you'll never know if you don't talk to them about it. have you spoken?"

"yes, we've spoken but only on the group chat and stuff. they hung around me on the day after the party aswell. we've never actually brought up what happened, though. the fact that they seem like they don't wanna talk about it kinda tells me that it was just a one time thing or a mistake." jimin pouted.

"well, i say wait a little while longer and if your feelings don't fade you should confront them about it." taehyung advised.

"i don't wanna make things awkward by bringing it up, though, because if they don't feel the way i do then it'll be kinda weird afterwards." jimin whined.

"i think a little bit of awkwardness won't kill you if it means clearing the air. that's what i did with jeongguk." taehyung shrugged.

"what d'you mean?" jimin asked.

"i messaged jeongguk to clear the air between us and, sure, it might be awkward at first to act like all that didn't happen but, at the end of the day, a fresh start is healthy."

"maybe you're right."

"duh? of course i am."

"shut up."
