being with taehyung was easy.

so easy that it felt too good to be true a lot of the time.

how could one person so perfect exist?

and no, taehyung wasn't perfect all around, that was simply impossible.

however, he was perfect for jeongguk.

and that's all that mattered to him. that was enough for him.

whether he was waking up to find taehyung staring down at him with a soft smile upon his face or waking up to find taehyung fast asleep so he could stare instead, he knew he always wanted to wake up beside him.

whether he was buying unnecessary gifts for taehyung or taehyung was buying him presents he never asked for, he knew he always wanted them to provide for eachother.

whether he was leaning in to kiss taehyung or taehyung was leaning in to kiss him, he knew he never wanted to forget the feeling of his lips on his own.

taehyung was something special and something that jeongguk never intended to let go of.

"jeonnie?"

ripped away from his thoughts by the sound of his angel, jeongguk blinked a few times to shake away his trance.

both of them laying in the soft, white sheets of taehyung's bed as orange light from the sunrise began to seep in through the sheer curtains. this was the definition of bliss. at least, in their own eyes.

taehyung had just awoken, blinking the sleep away from his eyes and stretching his arms out above his head. jeongguk had been too enraptured by his sleeping beauty that he barely noticed his movements as he began to wake up.

"morning, petal." jeongguk whispered with a soft grin on his face.

the smile that spread across taehyung's face was more blinding than the sunlight that had began to flood into their space.

he adored when jeongguk was like this. admiring him as he slept and greeting him with a nickname that made him feel pretty and loved.

"morning, handsome. in a good mood?" taehyung asked.

jeongguk simply smiled back at him before planting dozens of feather-light kisses across taehyung's face in an attempt to answer his question.

"i'll take that as a yes." the recipient of the kiss attack giggled.

when jeongguk was done practically suffocating taehyung, he buried his face into the older's neck.

"i love you, yknow? so so so much." jeongguk told him, squeezing him arms around him even tighter, burying his face even deeper into his soft skin.

almost as if he wished they could just fuse together, become a part of eachother. become one.

"i know jeonnie, i love you too." taehyung said, just as he always would, with a smile on his face.

that's when jeongguk sat up and told him, "no but you don't get it. i really do love you, more than you'll ever understand. you'll never truly understand, you'll never truly know how much i love, kim taehyung."

well, that was new. taehyung was at a loss for words (also new). he blinked, wide eyed as he stared up at his boyfriend who looked back at him with nothing but adoration in his eyes.

jeongguk continued, "and i'm fine with that. it's okay that you'll never understand, i don't need you to. i just need you to trust me when i say that i do."

taehyung's eyes fogged up with unshed tears at the mere words. never had he ever imagined that anyone would say something so heartbreaking beautiful to him.

but why was he even surprised? unexpectedly beautiful things have only continued to happen to him since he started loving jeon jeongguk.

sitting up himself, he wrapped his arms around jeongguk as tight as he could.

"i trust you with everything i have. i trust you with my life." he said, voice cracking as he spoke barely above a whisper.

and jeongguk believed him.

because he trusted him like that too.

taehyung pulled back, grabbing jeongguk's hands before he continued, "and i love you so much. i know that things will never be easy for you, with or without me. i know that there are parts of you that may be broken beyond repair, parts of you that neither you or i can fix even if we try. but you know what? i love those parts of you too. i love everything about you, jeon jeongguk, and i want you to know that. even when you think otherwise, i want you to remember that i'll always love you, jeongguk. no matter what."

and that's all that mattered to jeongguk.

and so that morning they made love for the first time, soaked in the colour of the sunrise as the birds began to sing.

this was all that mattered to jeongguk.

he was happy in moments like this.

because despite how broken he may be, he was the luckiest person in the world, as far as he was concerned.

because he got kim taehyung.

he could kiss kim taehyung.

he could hold kim taehyung.

he could love kim taehyung.

he got taehyung.

and that's all that mattered to him.
