Severus Snape: War Hero

LONDON – After almost three months of continuous hearings and trials, the judges of The High Wizarding Court have declared that Severus Snape, former Professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and Potions Master, was indeed an active member of The Order of Phoenix, who fought against the Dark Lord Voldemort and thus, is in fact a hero of war. The former Professor was initially charged with being a Death Eater, acts of betrayal against the Wizarding World, and even the murder of Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore. However, a testament from the Wizarding World's saviour, Harry James Potter, and other members of the Order of Phoenix, along with information obtained from the late Dumbledore's own memories and the testimony of his portrait has revealed that Severus Snape had completely defected from the Dark Lord's ranks during the early stages of the first war and had been acting as a spy for the Light side ever since. The testaments have also revealed that Dumbledore had asked Severus Snape to kill him, in an act of euthanasia, after learning that he was already dying due to a curse which had been placed on Marvolo Gaunt's Ring, a Horcrux created by Voldemort and as mean to solidify his position among the Dark Lord's ranks. And thus, all of the offences against Severus Snape have been cleared. The court has also decided to bestow the Order of Merlin – First Class upon the Potions Master in recognition of his bravery and great sacrifices.

Severus Snape is currently in a deep coma due to a bite from Voldemort's snake, Nagini during the final battle in the Shrieking Shack. The Potion Master was recused by Harry Potter, who had witnessed the attack on the Potion Master and rescued him by moving him back to Hogwarts.

Severus Snape has been hospitalized at Hogwarts' infirmary since then and has been assigned special protection.
